Not really. Varus is running point, Wes is in civilian clothes. Combat not an option at any point but neither is letting them kill each other. The point is just to encourage them to hold hands and sing songs as I understand it. Currently it looks like one of the elders is currently giving a give peace a chance speech.

I have been letting Varus run all of the NPC reactions and interactions.
