Next of Kin.

A sharp hiss and groan of hydraulics sounded like an orchestra as the landing bay doors slowly lowered. A recent shuttle had just touched down onto the surface of Mandalore. The city of Keldabe to be exact. The city was showing obvious signs of rebuilding as recent history had left the city desolate. But this was Mandalore, and her people were nothing if not resilient and with unchallenged resolve.

Down the ramp, dark leather boots clicked against the bulkhead as a man descended and walked out onto Mandalore for the first time. The man was dressed simply, a leather jacket and cargo pants with a large duffel bag slung over his shoulders. He looked around at his surroundings and took in the scene. Well, I made it. Wherever you are, I hope you can see this.

The man walked, he had a destination in mind, he just wasn't eager to get there. For when he got there, he had to deliver some unpleasant news. He chuckled to himself. Wow Kade, you survived hell, and now you're worried about delivering some news? He stopped, a wave of solemnness sweeping over him. Yes, he would much rather still be in hell than have to face who was headed to meet. But he pressed on. One foot in front of the other until he found himself standing in front of the newly rebuilt Oyu'baat. He paused long enough to take a deep breath and then forced himself through the front door.

Inside was quiet. The atmosphere inviting and not too busy. Looking around Kade didn't see any striking blonde that matched a description that he knew well from the many stories that his fallen comrade had told him. A huge wave of relief flooded through him. She's not here!
But his relief was short lived as a man entered the Oyu'baat behind him. Mandalorian by the looks of him. The man walked past and sat at one of the corner booths along the wall. The bartender gave the new arrival a familiar nod and asked. "Same thing as always Kad?"
Kade knew that name. It was a name frequently used by his comrade. This was the brother of the woman he was looking for.

There was no escaping it. He had survived hell and had made it this far. He owed his friend that much and so much more. Walking up to the corner booth, Kade stood in front of the man who now wore a quizzical look. Mustering every ounce of grit he could, Kade spoke up. "Pardon me, but are you [member="Kad Tor"]?"

The conflict was finally over... for now. Being a Mandalorian meant one thing, conflict was always inevitable. It was the one constant they could count on as a people. What had Kad breathing a sigh of relief was the fact the civil war had come to an end. Mia was dead, and life could go on. Kad was desperate to return to Dxun, which had fallen under control of Alderaan in the middle of the conflict. [member="Artemis Lux"] had been left to negotiate on behalf of those who had lost their clans and called the moon their home. He missed her. Their journey had not always been an easy one, but the two compatriots had become lovers prior to Kad's departure and he wanted to give her phusical proof he had survived. Kad could not leave until after the pyre. His sister, cousin, and nieces would all be there. He wanted to see them.

He hated the food which was served in the baracks. Kad ventured into the city of Keldabe for a good meal, unhealthy, and full of meat. As he walked in the man behind the bar asked him if he wanted the usual. A brisk nod follwed along with a hearty chuckle.

"You should make it a double tonight. I'm leaving for Dxun in two days to see my lioness. I have a feeling I'm going to need the energy."

Kad Walked by the bar on his way to his usual booth. Near a year ago his usual would have been whiskey to drown his sorrows and loss. Artemis had helped him change that, and she truly had been the strength he needed to overcome what held him back.

The man turned his back only for another man to arrive. His face was new, rugged, and his eyes seemed troubled. Somehow the man knew his name which resulted in a perplexed state. Kad wore it on his face.

"You have me at a disadvantage. You seem to know me, but I do not know you at all."

Please don't be him, please don't be him, please don't be him, DAMN!
The confirmation that he had found one of the people that he was looking for threatened to shatter his resolve, but Kade pushed through. Unclenching the jaw that he didn't know had tightened, Kade responded. "No, nor should you know me. I'm a nobody. Well, I used to be a nobody." Kade shook his head and continued. "I'm rambling, my apologies. My name is Kade. Kade Dar'Ures. You wouldn't have heard of me cause this is my first time ever setting foot on Mandalore." He looked to the seat across from [member="Kad Tor"]. "Do you mind if I sit?"

Kad quirked a brow as he motioned for the man to join him. There was something off about this entire situation, but the beskar clad warrior would kill the man before him with one blow of his hammer if he had to. Kad had not become known as the Hammer of Enceri simply for the notion of a fun title. The goran was strong, and his hammer was sure.

”You are searching me out for a reason. Best get to it,” Kad suggested as the man sat. Whatever this was about, it was not going to be good.

Kaden nodded in appreciation and took a seat next to the armored Tor. The Mando Kade had been trained by didn't have the luxury of armor, so it was different to see every Mando walk by in a full suit of Beskar.

He reached inside his jacket pocket and withdraw a small item an clutched it in his hand. Then he turned his attention to Kad.
"You are about to have a lot of questions for me, and I promise that I will answer them to the best of my ability, I just don't want to have to retell this again and again. What I have to say, your sister is going to want to hear, more than you I'd wager."
Before Kad could press further, Kade placed the item he was clutching in his hand on the tale in front of Kad. It was a ring, a simple wedding band to be exact. There was nothing significant on the band, save for the inscription etched into it. However, Kad would know who the ring had belonged to. The man that saved and trained Kade, Kable Detta.
"I am here today because of him. I've brought this from hell itself, and she should have it now."

Kad shruggd. The man could have picked up a ring from anywhere. Briika had been married to three men, was he trying to be the fourth. This man owed his life to the owner of the simple gold band that was on the table. Kable used to wear a band like it. Reaching for it, Kad picked it up and turned it to an angle to read what was inside it.

This man knew them too well. Had he been a stalker the inscription would be missing or wrong. One of the words was missing an “i.” That’s what Kad was looking for. When he saw it, Kad set the ring back on the table. He drew in a breath, and let it slowly before he said anything.

”He’s dead otherwise he would be here and Briika would have a lot of explaining to do,” Kad started. He shrugged again. The man assumed Kad would have a lot of question’s, but the warrior was not one for much talking. His worlds these days were reserved from Artemis and Briika mostly. This man would just have to be disappointed that Kad’s jaw didn’t hit the table.

”I’ll let Briika ask all the questions, but before I agree to letting you meet her you do have to do one thing. You have to tell me what happened. He didn’t just leave Briika behind, but a daughter, and now a grandson. They need to know his legacy.”

Kade nodded at Kad's request. It made sense. Kade would have asked the same thing were the roles reversed. He closed his eyes as he fought back the horrors he had lived through. Then, letting out a deep breath, he elaborated.

"He found me in hell, or what you might know as the Netherworld. I was a nobody. A frakking bartender who in the blink of an eye, was running from things that you couldn't even imagine. The things of nightmares. I didn't know how to fight, or survive. I mean the worst I've ever done was break up a barfight or two. But he found me, and saved me from getting eaten when I could no longer run. He fought and killed with the ferocity of the very creatures that hunted us. We survived there for years, I don't really know how long we've been gone. But over those years, he taught me how to fight, how to kill, how to survive, and how to live. He always spoke of his family. Of you, your sister, his brother, and of course his Meshla."
He paused, searching Kad's face for any sign of acceptance or belief before continuing on.
"He never thought for a minute that we wouldn't find a way out. And he was right. We found a tear in the veil that separated our dimensions, but between us and the tear was a horde of nightmares. We fought and clawed our way, but there were too many. I tried to stay behind and let him go through. He had something to live for I didn't. But he refused and pushed me through, forcing this ring into my hand as he threw me through the tear." Kade said motioning towards the ring on the table between them.
"The last thing I saw of him before the tear closed was him standing tall as a horde of monsters swarmed on him."
Kade stopped, closing his eyes again as he pushed back the memories.
Locking eyes with Kad again, he continued with as much resolve as he could, moisture collecting in the corner of his eyes.
"So I'm here to deliver this, so that he could be put to rest with the family, whose memory was enough to fuel a man to shine in the darkness. Now I know that you think he left his family behind, but he refused to leave me, a stranger behind. Do you really think had hell itself not taken him away, that he would have left?"

"I didn't mean it like that," Kad said with a frustrated look. This man was assuming that Kad was angry with Kable, but he had mourned the man's death just as if the Kable was his own flesh and blood. They had fought in battle together. Their families had proven to be their own formidable unit. If he thought Kable was a true warrior then the man in front of Kad shouldn't be so quick to underestimate him.

"All you have done is prove to me that Kable is the one you were with. We had all assumed he'd been taken and died, but now you have given us the proof.

Kad picked up the ring and put it in one of the pouches on his utility belt.

"I will give Briika the ring, but you will meet her. Kable helped you live to deliver a message, and that's what you are going to do. There is a funeral pyre to mourn those this war has taken from us and to celebrate the death of the liberator. You will be my guest, and I will introduce you to my family."
