[member="Ali Hadrix"] Wasint even the pace it was a combo of the pace needed to be fast but the writers I was with were much slower. or they sped up then slowed down inconsistent pace made it impossible to truly do much.

Jar Jar Binks returns, his 1000-year plot coming to fruition as he enslaves the galaxy.

For a limited time only folks, get ready forrrrrr

THE RETURN OF THE LEGENDS

Luke Skywalker has been spotted roaming the deserts of Tatooine. Yoda has been spotted in the swamps of Dagobah. Darth Vader has been sighted in the plains of Naboo. Boba Fett is rumoured to be roaming the jungles of Mandalore.

For some strange reason, perhaps because of the constant and unattended unbalance of the Force, legendary figures from the history of the galaxy are being sighted around the galaxy.

The Force seems to be spewing them out. Are they really them? Or are they just mirages, or images left behind?

Regardless, the factions are interested and a race to find these elusive legends is on. After a fixed period of time, the legends will quite simply dissipate back into the Force, and the opportunities will be lost.

Those who find the legends will have the pleasure of first and foremost meeting and interacting with them, (they could be RPed by a member of staff, a dedicated "Legend" account, or the writer themselves). They could then act much like a holocron, except a heck of a lot better as they are literally standing right in front of you, and will impart to you wisdom and learning, though of course the person who finds them must prove themselves worthy of their teaching. Luke Skywalker isn't going to be teaching a Sith Lord how to use the Force better, and Emperor Palpatine won't be showing the ropes to a Padawan (actually he might, he loves corrupting peeps). There is also the possibility of receiving a rare gift of some kind, perhaps Luke will pass on his lightsaber, or Darth Revan his mask, or perhaps something more powerful and precious and not just of symbolic and historic value.

If you're feeling particularly courageous (and stupid), perhaps you set out to find one of these legends for the very thrill of fighting them. Perhaps you're a Sith Lord who wishes to show the galaxy he can defeat Obi Wan, or a Mandalorian who wants the honour of a spar with Boba Fett? These too would carry with them rewards.

This whole thing would be kinda epic, though would have to be controlled quite well to not abuse all the canons. The legends as said would have to be pretty elusive and require an extensive group (or perhaps solo if they don't want others to be learning from the legend, just themselves) thread to find them, after which they will have the reward of learning from them.

Good idea until you have 900 writers trying to interact with 12 characters.

It could be restricted to a fraction of those 900 who would get to the legends in the first place, posting requirements can be made quite difficult (and an RPJ would have to decide if they've done enough). They are elusive for a reason, they will have to be found.

Hmmm...

I like the idea, though one thing I think of when I consider it is "One big, huge Mary-Sue," a fantasy resulting from the fact that our RP environment exists entirely outside of the canon timezone, denying us that usual ability to interact with figures like that.

BUT...I do like the idea.

It would require control, of course. Maybe the Legends interactions are restricted to those a part of the Legend's same faction represented by our community? I.E. Darth Vader and our incarnation of the Empire, or Yoda and our incarnation of the Jedi Order, Luke Skywalker and our incarnation of the Galactic Republic (or Rebel Alliance), etc.

How about an event that actually ties into what just happened. I know that the sight is called chaos, but how about doing something with the fact a bunch of Corellians are now displaced and need a home... How else did the netherworld affect the galaxy? What is lurking about, or no longer, because of the event.

Please no vong... overdone...
Please no zombies or Rhakghouls... overdone

Let's do something to highlight the good guys for once. I'm all for conflict, but not every event has to be a disaster...

Just my two cents.

Not sure how it'd be done, but yeah, something which better highlights a good cause. You'd just have to find something dramatic enough. While I like the idea presented by [member="Wolf"] , I think that it could become a bit too much like fantasy land. Part of the appeal to non cannon forums is just that. That they're without the movie characters. This forum is the best balance of that I've found, and it'd be risky to tip that.

The only reason I'd dispute doing a case and effect event, [member="Judah Lesan"] , is because that would then require the incoming members who wanted to join the event to know what happened in the last event. If it was all part of a continuous story. Their seeming unconnectedness is very possibly what makes them so popular.

I certainly think that whatever we go with should be focused primarily on Character Development, not combat or war.

This could be a fantastic opportunity to usher in an era of relative peace and growth, which our Universe seems due for anyways considering the contents of the last several events. Judah and others who have said it are right, there can only be so many catastrophes before it just doesn't become feasible for the structure of society itself to hold on any longer.

Think of all the history we could write/record for characters. How much we could add to the Codex!

You know, going off the idea of the "Legends" and also the "Giant Intergalactic Fighting Ring," we could do something involving both. On one of the other boards that I've posted on for a long time, Alternatehistory.com, I used to be involved with a few map games where you ISOT (Island in the Sea of Time) a country or a geographical area to a map with other countries and have the players who control the countries engage in world building. Take Country A from their time and space, move to Universe B alongside countries B-Z from Dimensions AA1-ZZZ999 and see how they interact. This is an awkward way of describing the game, but you get the general idea.

We could do something like that where we select our capital planet and some planet(s) that we want to have transported, take our fleet assets, and ISOT all of the major and minor factions to a specific time in the SW Universe, like the New Sith Wars, the Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War, or the Yuuzhan Vong War. Then we'll could have the One Sith having to decide if they want to really ally with the Empire, the Republic deciding if they want to fight with the Rebels, or the Grey Jedi having to go up against the Vong. Then we not only get to interact with cannon characters, but also the chance for combat as well! It also gives us the chance to have interactions between factions that are usually at each others' throats (OS and Pubs, I'm looking at you!) and having to choose between continued hostilities or cooperation for mutual benefit.

The mods would have to figure out fleet numbers for combat against cannon powers like the Empire, the Republic, the CIS, and who would RP them and major characters. We'd also have to establish how many planets would need to come for each power to remain viable and how many ships/troops/force users could come along for the ride as well. But it would give all of us common cause, then we get to also have the kind of peaceful/non-hostile world building that [member="Ali Hadrix"] was talking about, or comparatively peaceful and non-hostile. Because then we'd all possibly have the collective Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads!

Verd Skirata

Fancy flyin' and good fightin' make for a good day
A new galaxy Is coming towards our galaxy, but will pass by in a matter of a month or so being on a slightly different path, allowing time to explore the new galaxy; or the two galaxies combine into one which provides exploration of new hyperspace routes while shutting down others, new planets to find, new creatures, new weapons, new tech, and new cultures for everyone to explore.

Perhaps there is a technology that allows the two galaxies to be linked as they drift apart, allowing travel between them for a short time after they separate and ultimately drift apart. Fighting if that is what people choose, or building up/ protecting an alien society if that is what others would like. Possibilities of finding and mining rare ores and crystals, a chance for medical practitioners to find new plants that can generate new cures for diseases, maybe they find a better substitute for Bacta that can be produced on a large scale.

This leaves the possibilities to the writers, and allows for a new explosion of creativity, while incorporating the ideas for space travel, peace and new found prosperity, battle and other such struggles between factions that were proposed by the other writer's suggestions on this thread.

Disney's Princess
The Factory Fiasco Stoneage

1. Players select, (?randomized?) a Custom Planet upon which to be stranded. (+ Due to an Omni EMP via the Holonet-or-something-fapfapfap-reasons)

2. Their gear and ship is destroyed in the opening scene and only a specific Custom Company's gear/items is made available to each planet.

3. Schematics are then made available, (?at 100 posts?), to each planet for certain EVENT Vehicles, (EMP proof), and the players must work together to build these random vehicles and escape. (+ Post count needed per (?group?) to build vehicle.)

4. Escape and you get to keep the stuff you find. (+ Schematics)

___

A contest can be held to design the EVENT Vehicles. Because awesome.

Seriously though, this is a potentially good idea, but not for a board-wide event. I'd suggest you post it in the RP Discussion forum.

Also, don't @mention Tef unless you have a good reason.

A galactic ice age! :D

Or maybe some galactic or solar system based event, like a series of black holes or multiple stars exploding? A high level rogue force warrior takes hold of an entire solar system and chaos starts. Or, once again, something with black holes
