Now that Netherworld is wrapped up... what are your ideas for the next Event?

It would be kind of neat to have a natural event to effect the Star Wars universe. I don't hunk it's really used that much. It's always a warlord to defeat or an empire to overthrow. There's always a possibility of killing the guy who runs it all and ending it just like that, but you can't kill nature. And so, it would be less of a stop it from happening sort of thing and more of a survive through it or die. Maybe not necessarily a galactic ice age, but something natural that would show everyone that the kind of control they're attempting to have over everything isn't possible for long and nature will always intervene somehow.
I'll toss a few things around in this little section. If heatwave a and ice ages effect certain planets, maybe we take the magnitude a bit farther. Maybe a disturbance in the force after the time space continuum calms back down netherworld dimension is revealed to us causes a similar series of portals (wormholes perhaps?) to open up, though not really affecting living things, leading to various times and alternate dimensions. I'm pretty confident that, concerning the time traveling part, people here wouldn't take it too far and kill anakin sky walker as a kid or something, as that could cause paradoxes which could cripple space time and whatnot. And concerning alternate dimensions, it's already been done multiple times on smaller, and once larger, scales. For instance, there was a weekend treasure hunt thread I was in in which you entered a portal to an alternate timeline of more chaos and destruction even than our own. You were allowed to bring things out at your leisure, though only to a certain extent. It seemed to work fine at that point. Even netherworld was technically another dimension and it worked out great from my understanding.
We could also go with different interstellar events. These could include a temporary abundance of black holes/ wormholes, another galaxy with lots of new stuff to explore meets temporarily with our own, among other things.
And that is my deposit of 2 cents. I hope it is put to good use.

I don't want to speak too soon, but I think I've actually got something that would work rather nicely in our community. It would serve as an internal story (i.e. no alternate realities or dimensions or passing galaxies), but would focus more on the political and social aspects of our Galaxy we don't often explore.
As admirable as conflict-based stories are, the wars we fight here rarely boil down to any sort of believable motivations. Jedi vs. Sith, etc. I see a lot of, "Well we've fought these guys for thousands of years, so let's kill 'em dead!"

I'm suggesting something a little more...fantastic: Society vs. Force Users.

I'm particularly inspired by that conversation between Luke Skywalker and Natasi Daala on Coruscant where Luke basically brushes off Daala's concern for how many amputations the Jedi commit because "Sometimes it's best to just lop an arm off, and prosthetics are common in this galaxy."
Then there's the rampant destruction adored by the Sith. "One day I'll finally kill enough to fill the hole in my brain caused by the murder of my family before my very eyes," yada-yada-yada.

Well, speaking entirely from the perspective of an NFU, I can honestly say Ali's tired of Force Users. More specifically the massive organizations of them. (ICly, not OOCly! lol)
I can imagine that, much like the serfs and slaves of former ages, and the oppressed and impoverished of a dozens societies before ours, people around the Galaxy might get sick of wars and conflict between these groups, as well as the constant oppression they tend to come with.

What if we wrote a conflict that focused on the excision of Force Users from the largest governments? The Galactic Republic exiles the Jedi and the One Sith is overthrown by NFU elements of their own leadership, for example. Smaller FU organizations are forced into hiding. The leftovers are rounded up and exiled to some backwater world (The Republic, etc) or simply killed en masse (The OS, etc). Other organizations are able to subsist (the Primeval, for instance, I know is made of fanatics that love their FU's lol) on their own in small reaches of the Galaxy, while the largest now-civilian-run governments attempt to track them down.

This is a story we could write over a number of months if we wanted, and allows us to play on character development in changing circumstances, social and political aspects and changes in the population, and gives us an opportunity to host our own Order 66.
This event won't even require much change in the map, though we could host a few border conflicts as a result of this all.

There really is everything here. Conflict between characters in an NFU/FU relationship, heads of governments become fugitives/convicts, the Galactic Republic could host a series of trials that lead to the decision to exile their FU's and disband the Jedi Order. I imagine [member=Mark Crassis] and the rest of us spies turning on and arresting/killing Jedi in the government and full blown firefights in government buildings. [member=Reverence] is outsmarted by NFU elements in his own organization. Maybe the Rebel Alliance is one of the few that maintains cohesion with their FU's.
Imagine riots in the streets of a million worlds, hell there's even RP for news casters in this story.

You mistake Reverance being the leader of the OS for the Dark Lord. The Dark Lord, an NPC Voss, is the IC leader of the OS, Reverance is just his most current mouth-piece like those before him.

The Dark Lord being the Emperor NPC persona that the OS follows fanatically as though he were the proverbial second-coming.

Actually though, the beginning I every star wars movie has always gone "a LONG TIME AGO In a galaxy far far away"
Does that mean I can has dinosaurs? I mean, jedi and dinosaurs! just imagine this situation.

"Mark slipped through the primordial jungles as fast as he could move in jedi robes. He didn't dare look back to his aggressors which he couldn't identify. They were incredibly fast, most likely faster than he was out in the open.
He ran into a clearing near the edge of a small waterfall. The creatures were surrounding him now. Their russet brown and blood red feathers shimmered in the remaining moonlight as the storm approached. They seemed to be incredibly smart for reptilians, tapping their toe claws on the ground and making complex growls and screeching noises to communicate. They had him backed up to the drop off. Unhooking his lightsaber from his belt, he activated it in hopes of at least not going down without a fight. He activated the dark emerald blade, producing a brighter light than he'd seen for a while now as thunder and lighting signaled that the storm was here now.
The first of the beasts showed signs of attacking when a much more massive reptile charged out of the brush toward the smaller ones, sending them scattering. It was clear that this was the king of these tyrant lizards. Mark was now between a rock and a hard place. He could run head on through the now fighting dragons, or take his chances with the rushing waterfall. He turned and jumped just as one of the smaller, feathered animals prepared to launch itself onto him and make a killing low with sharp claws and teeth. And then, all there was was cold."
