Nubian Ships - Republic Dominion of Nubia

"Acknowledged, Admiral Mollari. We'll make due with what we have." Kayleigh knew the Republic fleets were stretched thin, undertaking a heavy number of operations near simultaneously. The crews were enduring, but they all deserved some R&R when they returned to Onderon. Kayleigh couldn't recall the last time she had a full 8 hours of sleep, and her eyes were beginning to look bloodshot. The crew likely thought she was losing a bit of her sanity.

Kayleigh turned her attention to the holo of Stahlmann to see how his crew was fairing with the requisition of the orbital shipyards. "How are you making out on your end Admiral Stahlmann? Is there anything my crew can do to assist while we continue to send supplies planet side?"

As [member="Orick T'ane"] called in Kayleigh smiled. Any assistance she could get with deploying the supplies for the relief effort would be invaluable, and the newcomer was surely making things go quickly. "Understood, Ranger. Docking bay 3 is open. Land and open your cargo bay, my men will handle loading the supplies and you are welcome to the mess for some food."

Docking bay 3 was a hive of activity there were several naval ratings moving cargo around and getting things staged for the next ship to arrive, which this time was The Ranger. He landed and opened the hatch as well as the cargo doors. As he stepped out he was greeted by several fresh faced navy personnel that he wasn't sure were old enough to shave, let alone get caught up in the scrum they were in. " Ships all yours, don't touch anything important and try not to clean up anything. i have a very precise system of storage." He said as he walked down the ramp. " Oh and two things. There's a false wall on the right, the space is empty and you can probably get another few crates into that space. Now point me in the direction of the mess hall."

Walking the corridors of Caledonia made him realize just how thin the Republic was. He felt like an old man walking through a primary school. there didn't seem to be an old face on the crew at all. He already knew that anyone with any real experience, and a few years under their belt was at a crucial station. He couldn't help but wonder how many of these kids had finished the academy before being rushed into this war.

Handing the boy back to his relieved parents, Corvus decided to swing by the medical facilities - to see how things were going. As she walked she kept her eyes out for trouble but the robes alone tended to keep people more honest than they otherwise might have been.

As she approached the Medical Centre, she heard the bellow, “QUIET.” Corvus picked up her pace initially but as she turned the corner to face the facilities, she slowed right down to assess the situation.

She saw a man holding a knife to a woman’s throat. She also saw a medic who looked like he was trying to calm the man down, so she halted – in case she spooked the man. The tension was palpable, but the one thing Corvus had in abundance was patience, so she waited.

She didn't trust the Force enough at present to be able to incapacitate the man without risking the woman’s life, so instead she used her Teräs Käsi skills – although technically, as a Jedi had taught her, she could probably classify them as Jedi-related.

In a blink of the eye, Corvus was at the man’s side. His first inkling things were not going as he had planned was when he felt her breath on his neck. Breath that whispered, “I owe you another one Tracyn.” He certainly wouldn't have heard a sound from her feet as she closed the gap between them noiselessly. An elbow to the back of his head and Corvus ignored the unconscious body falling, focusing instead on catching the woman that had been in the man’s grip.

In fact it is likely only the Jedi present could have identified the flow of the moves, non Force-Sensitive eyes would have simply seen a blur.

Immediately she smiled at the woman. “Don’t worry ma'am, you’re safe now.”

Another day, another dominion. So much for free map space! It was a galactic apocalypse, so the best way to rise again from the ashes was to initiate a scramble for territory. Clearly all those sappy holomovies where a massive outside threat forced all the people of the Galaxy to temporarily forget their deep-seated, sometimes centuries-old grievances and band together against the Reapers...err, whoever was the seemingly unstoppable Big Bad of the week, had it wrong!

Anyhow, Callisto Scarlett happened to be part of the strike team that was taking the shipyards. All things considered, her assignment had been quite dull so far since the local security forces had been so insulting as to not try to shoot at her, thereby depriving her of an excuse to initiate a process of elimination. However, she got something to do when they reached the massive sealed, blast door that barred entrance to the central command room.

Place had gone into lockdown, attempts to breach the blast doors failed. Ignoring the combat engineers and slicers Callisto stepped forward and approached the security console. "I shall handle this," she said blandly as her fingers touched the console. Eyes flashed briefly as she began to initiate an override programming, nonwirelessly slicing her way into the system. Countless password combinations were run by her at breakneck speed, faster than most organic minds could process before finally a blue light flashed on the console and the mighty door gave way.

“Sir, Unit one has entered the central control area.”
“Excellent. Tell them to secure it properly and begin to override the protocols locking down the rest of the station.”

The reports were still coming in, though less common now most objectives had been reached.
“Unit two has secured the guardroom. Bit of a stand-off with the guards, but they stood down.”
“Unit nine is in possession of the fuel depot. Repeat, Unit nine is in possession of the fuel depot.”

“How many left to report in?”
“Units four, seven and ten have yet to achieve their objectives.”
“Ms Scarlett, please head to the automation factory and assist Unit four,” he ordered the Republic agent and former bodyguard. “The other two will come about I’m sure, but send a team to investigate, just in case.”

The Admiral was pleased with the progress, but there was still a great deal to do.
“Thank you for the offer, Admiral, but the shipyards are almost entirely secured. We’ll get them back up and running though, then dock the Star of Alderaan with them to allow easier access.”

The central command area was duly secured, with a team of Republic soldiers taking up position to defend it against possible attack. Even though so far the occupation had gone off without a hitch, it was better to be safe than sorry. Trained slicers began initiating the process of overriding the protocols that kept the station locked, in order to ensure the Republic could assume direct control.

Callisto meanwhile left the command area and eventually linked up with unit four. There had been some issues with the native guards, but these had been resolved by then. Nubia might have once been Protectorate, but help had not been forthcoming from there, so there was no point in getting territorial about things if the Republic was going to let them keep their paycheck. Besides...what had happened on Corellia had not done the Protectorate any favours on the PR front. Hacking through the defences to the automation factory, Callisto was soon able to override them and grant the Republic team entrance.

As she continued her work having to in some cases manually reset the connections for some weapons systems and get repair crews to fix another few she muttered something about not getting paid enough. "This is Padawan Soja to Republic command. I;ve got about 20% of the defense grid working but this thing went to heck when people left musta been under maintenance or repairs. The entire grids been changed up I should be able to fix it but between me the crews and a few droids it's gonna take a bit of time. Should have 50% up within the next hour or two." She spoke once comms were back on.

The next few hours were more typical of this sort of work - even if you were a Jedi. A collection of disputes over ownership of a dog, ten counts of petty theft, a re-routed water supply and a problem with generators.

But mostly she just wandered about. The presence of a Jedi reduced crime and reassured people. And that was as important as the roof over their heads. It was important that they knew the Republic cared about them. Enough to send a Jedi Master. So she stopped and chatted about the weather, tried some blue soup and generally bowed and shook hands with anyone who wanted to.

Sometimes the simple life was as good as it got.

Yes, some R&R would be a nice thing - for everyone when this was all said and done. Alarice rubbed her face as the two holograms of both @@Friedrich Stahlmann and [member="Kayleigh Tyven"] would disappear from the holomap. A sigh would escape her lips as she moved away from the table map itself and towards the viewport. It was a confusing time for her right now, with all that has transpired on Cato Neimoidia and the flow of reports of the Sith movements - Alarice hadn't had a moment to process where the Republic would be headed, one direction or the other. Intelligence had directed them towards Bilbringi at some point, just not as soon as the One Sith had hit.

Then again, intelligence had been weakened - much like every other division within the Galactic Republic.

She tried to stay focused, on the mission at hand. Secure these facilities and aid these people - then move to the next objective. That was all she could do, no sense in dwelling on wheels that could not be stopped.

Orick sighed in contentment as he wandered back to the docking bay where his ship was being loaded, a steaming mug of caf in his hand. He may not have gotten any sleep, but he wasn't hungry and a few minutes out of his cockpit had done winders for his spirits. Walking into the docking bay, he was surprised to see that his ship was already closed up and the crews were all gone. Only one Republic naval rating was left, and he was holding a clipboard, a look of frustration on his face. " you sure did take your time."

Laughing as he approached the navy personnel, he downed the caf and handed the empty cup to him. " You know, not all of us get to sit in this nice cargo bay, some of us actually go out there and get shot at. " He slowly strolled back into the cockpit and fired up the engines, the sound a familiar grumbling growl. He turned and shook his head, He forgot to ask what was in his cargo hold.

" Calidonia control, Aimless Ranger ready for departure. I have a full cargo, food in my stomach and i just need a direction and I'm ready to go."

Kayleigh nodded to the admiral's holo figure. "Roger, Admiral. We will continue our operation as planned."

The Caledonia had only unloaded approximately 60% of the intended cargo thus far, given the limited number of dropships and able carriers that she could logistically assign to this mission. The going would be slow, but it was a risk the young Admiral had to take, given the state of the military as it stood post-armageddon. While the girl looked over the reports of battles raging in other sectors of the galaxy, battles she was hoping would be going slightly more in favor of the Republic, as well as intelligence that the Sith were advancing further on former Republic territory with its now weakened state, [member="Orick T'ane"] made contact from the hangar bay.

"Roger that Aimless Ranger. You are cleared for departure. Dropoff zone is sector 543.30, 659.17. Please be advised, your cargo contains explosives and flammable material. Do ensure that caution is used. I don't want to see a fireworks display from orbit." Kayleigh nestled back into her seat, smiling. A little bit of fear in a pilot was never a bad thing she thought.

“Admiral, Unit four here. Ms Scarlett gave us some assistance. We are now into the automation plant.”
“Excellent. Get the supply lines running again and get those machines producing.”

A few moments passed before the final two teams reported in.
“Unit seven has secured the defence batteries.”
“Unit ten has occupied the cargo bays.”

“Admiral Tyven, Admiral Mollari, the shipyards are fully under Republic control. Our people are now working to start production again.”

Tiredness was starting to dull his senses. How many days since this drama had begun? He couldn’t remember. The situation was quite settled here, so he turned to the ship’s XO. “Captain Thorn has the bridge. I will be in my quarters. If anything comes up, contact me immediately.”

He hoped he might be able to get a couple of hour’s rest before moving on to the next planet.

He lifted off and The Ranger almost seemed to stumble back into open space. He punched in the coordinates and sat back, trying to relax. A cargo of explosives and flammable materials, kriffing great. I wonder if those republic cargo ships are carrying anything as dangerous. He shook his head and toggled his comm to on " Copy that Caledonia, you never fail to keep things interesting." He put the snip on autopilot and hoped that it wouldn't stray too far off course as he went to check on his cargo. He was probably going to double check that it was strapped down tightly. As he walked to the back, he noticed that his smuggler's door was open and that it too was crammed to capacity with explosives. So much so that it wouldn't even close. the Republic techs had gotten creative and were using cargo straps and adhesive tape to hold it in place.

He shook his head and walked back to the cockpit. too late to complain now, but he would remember this. there would be a time when he got some face time with one of these higher ups. he was making mental notes of everything, not that he thought it would really change anything.

Nuba City

The journey to Nuba City remained uneventful - for the best. Sabena looked at the skyline of the once vibrant city. The Mass Disappearance killed the livelihood of it. Miles away in the distance, she spotted the government building that the ship was heading to in order to meet T’chooka Rordis.

Eventually, the shuttle docked on a landing pad several stories up in the air. Sabena and the rest of the troupe were greeted by a silver protocol droid.

“Greetings, Master Jedi,” began the droid as it looked to Sabena. The young woman turned to a Chiss male Jedi beside her.

The male Chiss Jedi Knight bowed to the droid. Sabena followed in suit. Then, the Jedi Knight told the droid, “Greetings. I’m Howl. We are here to meet Mayor Rordis. I believe an appointment was made.”

The droid gave a robust gestured to the Jedi and Republic personnel to follow it.

“This way,” said the droid as it walked into the building.

Kana was on the planet’s surface idly scoping out the ion cannons from afar. The men were patrolling their building-sized booty with a lot of their firepower yet only a few of them appeared to be invested enough to check the controls out. Now was that a blessing or a curse? How long would it take for them to realize exactly what was going on out there in space?

Slowly she crept out of her cover and began the descent for the base. This was definitely going to need some finesse but for now improvisation would be good enough. Her hand reached up for the comlink in her ear.

“This is Truden. Approaching the cannons shortly, expecting heavy resistance.”

Just this once she had brought a blaster with her just to be safe. You never could be too certain these days and with the way the force was acting all wonky it was just a safer bet to not rely too heavily on the force.

Not that she would have too much of a problem with it. Sentinels and all that, you know how it works.

Team Yellow and Green had fanned out, splintering into several smaller groups in order to carry out the task of activating the anti-air turrets that protected the city from invasion forces. They were hard at work already and had several of the turrets activated on both the eastern and western sides of the city. As soon as their work was done, they would move North and South, respectively, to finish their tasks. It wasn't hard work but it was tedious as the engineers worked to get the weapons operational while the technicians worked their way into the computer systems in order to gain full access and set them on the proper protocols.

While this was going on Kian had made his way to the refugee center and had found his way into the medical facility. Kian wasn't much of a healer. He could heal himself with a Jedi Healing Trance, but his work with healer others was not all that sophisticated.....but what he could do was help them mentally. He was going from patient to patient touching their minds with his own. The Force was acting strange since he escaped from that hellish place they called the Netherworld, but as a Kel Dor his telepathic abilities hadn't been as effected.

Calm. You feel calm. You feel relaxed. You feel tired. Kian said into the mind of the young women who laid in the bed before her. So very tired. All you want to do is sleep. Kian continued as the girls eyes got heavier and heavier. He was lacing his words with the force, but doing so very hesitantly as he was unsure how it would respond. The girl finally closed her eyes and it seemed she was finally falling asleep.

"Thank you, Master Karr." The Bothan Doctor said, his deep, thick accent sounding strange coming in such a whispered, hushed tone.

"She'll be out for a while." Kian said leading him away, "I would let her rest while she can." Kian said bowing to the man and moving on to the next patient.

Corvus was called to the Medical Centre. The doctor that was supposed to take the next shift had called in sick - go figure!

So she helped out as best she could. Her time with Master Eden had taught her the basics without using the Force. So her hands dipped into a basin of water as he washed them before the next patient came forward. She reached for the towel next to her and dipped her hands in the steriliser.

"Now let me see your hands." She spoke softly and gently to the man sitting before her and took away the small towel covering them to reveal several cuts and scrapes. She decided not to ask. Firstly she probably wouldn't get the truth. Secondly she would delay seeing the next patient.

She cleaned the wound before applying a bacta strip, antiseptic and a clean dressing, wrapping his hand two to three times to hold it in place. "There, that should do it. We'll take another look at it tomorrow." With that she smiled and looked beyond the man's shoulder to indicate that the next person in the very, very long line was to come forward for his turn.

Kian felt the presence of [member="Corvus Raaf"] at the medical center as well and smiled to himself. She would clearly be more help here then he would. Kian ran a hand over the young girls head.

"What is your name?" He asked and was surprised to see her staring back at him without fear. Usually human children found him terrifying.

"She hasn't said a thing in days." The nurse said smiling sadly after a few moments of silence. She was an older Sullastun, her nurses outfit stained in dried blood and her eyes showing sings of exhaustion.

"Parents?" Kian asked, not looking away from the young girl and her eyes flashed with sorrow at the question.

"Gone with the rest." The nurse said turning and walking out of the room.

"Can I tell you a secret." Kian said kneeling down so he was at head height with the girl. "I was away too....I vanished." Kian said and the girls eyes widened. "But I came back."

"...Do....." The girl said, her voice a whisper. "Do you think my parents will?" She asked, tears forming in her eyes.

"I don't see why not." Kian said patting her on the head and he felt the relief washing over her. He didn't know if they would, but it never hurt to hope.

"You shouldn't have told her that." The nurse said to Kian as he left the room, closing the door quietly behind him. The girl had fallen asleep for the first time since Kian had come into the ward. "You gave her false hope." The nurse accused him, her hands on her hips.

"Not false hope," Kian said gently to the nurse. "Hope." She shook her had and walked away and Kian glanced back at the closed door. Hope was a powerful thing.....he just hoped he hadn't given her false hope.

Objective: Supply the Refugee Camp
[member="Corvus Raaf"]

Faith was not accustomed to this, but she felt she needed to be here. There were efforts back home on Alderaan now that it was back in Republic hands but the job was not done, the job needed to go further.

She brought with her the supplies her Aunt Rianna had donated from MandalMedical for the refugee camp. Getting there now that might prove to be the interesting part of this day. The small shuttle manuevered easily enough, Faith stood behind the pilot ready to bite her nails.

"Hail them, see if there's a specific place they want this stuff"

But what was a blaster when it came to facing several others? She really did have to play it smart this time or she'd be farked. Did she dare trust the force on this? Hardly. It had failed her before on Manaan and ever since then she had witnessed similar problems for anyone who had tried to utilize the force. A clever man would have looked into what was causing it, but Kana was not a clever man. In fact, she was not even a man at all come to think.

Her feets brushed against the floors as she passed crate for crate like a shadow. Peeking around the corner she spotted the guards as they discussed their exploits and for all that it was worth it put a smile on the master's lips. If she played this right she could get access to the console behind them...

If she could get access to the console behind them then she could run diagnostics...

Only one tactics came to mind for this. It had worked on Kashyyyk and it damn well would work now.

Quickly she got herself out of the shadows and made a run for the men. A single punch knocked one of them flat before her elbow quickly reached up to take out the other. It wasn't lightning fast like 'Teras Käsi' but it certainly worked wonders in incapactitating these guys.

A happy Kana cheered in a whisper. "Yes! Kana Truden - One, Bad guys - Zero."

She waltzed over undetected to the console. Time to see the damage done to this baby.
