Public OBELISK VACATION RESORT - It's Time To Vacation Like You Know How!

Whoa! This was so cool! Asaiah's eyes sparkled as she zoomed through the resort! Running through the halls with reckless abandon as her eyes darted around, taking in as much as she could! Everything seemed so...so...new! She wasn't used to a place that seemed so clean and so techy! It made her giddy with excitement! It would have been better if she could have carried her sword with her...but even she wasn't dumb enough to carry her weapon on herself. She shook her head at that thought, and clapped her hands together as Asaiah started to look at some of the people around her.

"Wow! That dress is so pretty! Ooooh! Your hair! How did you get it in that style?!"

She poked and prodded with various different questions, not even noticing the strange looks from some of them. Asaiah's eyes carried on sparkling as she carried on sprinting through the halls. Where was she going to go...Oh! The Spa! Asaiah sprinted straight in the direction that the sign had pointed in, jumping in with boundless energy as she looked at all of the people in the main area of the Spa! A grin slowly spreading across her face as she rubbed her hands together.

"So...So cool!"

The Obelisk Vacation Resort.

What was expected from the array of Geonosian transports, meant more-so for that of function over form, was probably a singular diplomat, maybe a few officials, to enjoy a nice, relaxing, peaceful vacation.

What was not expected was roughly two dozen of them, as well as one Solar Sailor, a Punworcca Interstellar Sloop with a Solar Sail, specifically landing in the expansive hangar bay of the Obelisk. From the ramp of the Punworcca disgorged the frame of Archduke Ukvax the Gilded, ruler of the Stalgasin Hive. From the transports was disgorged an army of drones - workers, servants, and a few overseer. Two Geonosian Elites, unarmed as well as three dozen Warriors, made their way to his side. All-in-all, about one hundred and forty-nine Geonosians, in addition to Ukvax, were present on the station. Their duties proved simple - guard and tend to the Geonosian Archduke's every need, as he didn't trust the servants of this place. The species outside of Genosian were creatures that valued misrule.

He would not be weak.

Little by little, Archduke Ukvax made his way over to the dining room, pausing briefly upon his cane to hiss out a series of commands to his subordinates. What came out as a series of clattering chatter-clicks from the dual set of mandibles likely would be heard as such by those unfamiliar with the language. However, to those that understood it...

[GENOSIAN]"Fetch my luggage, and prepare my palanquin. Clear a path to the dining room. You will earn your meal when your duties are carried out properly as deemed to my specifications."

Cheering chatter-clicks followed from the Drones, since they finally got to eat something beyond meager algae. Motioning his hand to dismiss their excitement, black eyes glared as the drones carried the Palanquin above their heads. Flitting slowly inside, the five-foot-two Geonosian Archduke calmly watched as his warriors, unarmed alongside his Elites, cleared out a space through the crowd. If any got in his way, he'd merely gently have them moved. He wasn't risking a diplomat incident to ignorance. As Geonosians chittered-chattered amongst themselves every-so-often, the procession of Geonosians made their way to the dining room.

The arrival was... certainly flamboyant, as the Geonosian turned to one of the human servants and spoke.

"A-ha toye, Ka-klik usunak-usee ack-laye."

The protocol droid, which had been brought alongside, translated helpfully.

[BASIC]: "His High Eminence, the Archduke, queries for four of everything off of the menu for his person. Likewise, the drones will each receive one of everything on the menu, with his Warriors and Elites entitled to two and three of everything off of the menu. Drinks as well as food."

With that, the Archduke dismissed the protocol droid, and awaited the banquet that followed soon in theory.

Interacting with: Aris Noble Aris Noble

Zaiya had taken her time again in picking out an outfit. This was a date. An actual, official, no-we're-not-just-grabbing-food-and-trying-out-the-burgers date. So, yeah, she wanted to look cute, colorful, and pretty. The dress she'd picked was soft and flowy, and she'd even braided her hair into an elegant updo, something way fancier than her usual quick twists and ties. Hopefully, Aris would think it was cute.

The restaurant itself, though? Definitely fancy. Wa-a-ay fancier than anywhere they'd ever eaten before. Zaiya wasn't sure how much this place would charge for just a single meal, but she was already mentally counting her credits. She and Aris usually had a good system where they would each buy something and share so they would be able to try more foods per sitting but something told her they might not get away with that here.

But all thoughts of credits and fancy food vanished the second she spotted him.

Aris stood near the entrance, looking both completely at ease and just a little out of place, shifting from foot to foot like he wasn't sure if he should be standing that casually in a place like this. But he looked really good -- all sharp lines, well fitted Epicanthix clothing, the kind of effortlessly beautiful but functional look that made it obvious he was actually royalty.

Zaiya's heart did a ridiculous little flip. Excitement bubbled up inside her, making her skin glow with bioluminescent flickers of teal and gold, her mottled spots shifting like sunlight through water. She practically bounced over, beaming up at him.

"Hi, Aris!" she said, a little too enthusiastically, but whatever -- she was excited!

And stars, had he gotten taller again? She had to tip her head back just to look at him properly.

"Did you grow again? That's not fair," she huffed before grinning. "You look really handsome, though..." Her cheeks warmed, her stripes flushing a soft pink before shifting back into shimmering teal.

A part of Tasia was regretting coming here. Away from Naboo on this strange station, something didn't feel right. Every time the ring she was on rotated to the top of the giant snow globe in space she felt horribly upside down. She had been told several times that this sensation was physically impossible and entirely in her head but she couldn't shake it. At least she had the force and that comforted her.

She didn't really know what she wanted to do after receiving an invitation to this place, but it didn't hurt to explore as he was trying to be a little more metropolitan in her approach. And yet she still ended up at one of the quieter exhibits, gazing through a huge telescope at a nebula some thirty thousand light years away. It was beautiful and it was like staring into the eyes of the gods themselves. She moved the dial ever so gently and watched the focus shift to a specific glowing point of a supernova. She sighed, perhaps she should take a swim, or maybe just walk around the botanical gardens, either way, she would keep away from the more raucous areas like the casino floor unless her fellow Jedi suddenly required her presence or her blade.

Objective III - Dive into Enormous Grotto Pools

Aboard the Obelisk, Ran sat poolside with a drink in hand. She wore a caf brown one piece swimsuit, a pair of unneeded glareshades, and her usual combination of jewelry. The knight was on holiday, and awaiting her traveling companion for this vacation.

She awaited her comrade, the fellow Jedi Knight and new mother Dreidi Xeraic. Baby Aileni would be in tow, Ran knew and didn’t mind. Traveling with a child might’ve been taxing for some but Ran was patient, kind, and understanding. While Ran needed the vacation from war and the duties of a Jedi Knight, she imagined Dreidi needed the vacation from much the same along with the addition of traditional motherhood. Ran felt most Jedi Knights were radical parents that approached child rearing with more variety and eccentricity than most folk. She decided she would make herself available as a helping hand with the baby. It was to be a gesture toward the two Jedi’s budding friendship.

While she waited, she continued sipping her fruity drink with her eyes closed, and basking in the glow of starlight that entered the space station's domed window roof, eventually she fell asleep and began to snore.

I have never had a vacation before. Both neither on New Cov, nor abroad. I live to work. That is where I shine. That is where I am the most comfortable. I do not have best friends or anything of the sort to 'hang out' with. In fact all that I have are business acquaintances. Business meetings and events are about as 'social' as I get. Does anyone know me personally? No. Am I bothered by that? Not entirely. It has kept me out of scandals, drama and grief. Yet I have missed out on plenty of other things too.

So what brings me here? In some ways it is simple; I felt compelled to. But even where those feelings come from is complicated. Weeks ago I had an encounter in an ancient underground city on New Cov with in what can be described as an ancient entity. What I had thought was an amazing discovery and encounter had instead became the start of a nightmare. Much like the tale of Pandora's Box; I had awakened and released an entity that was meant to be imprisioned forever. It's voice plagues my mind, it's visions cloud my thoughts.

And so I needed an escape, even if it is only temporary. What better way than to uproot myself to where no one knows me, and in a secure location where I would not require the service of any bodyguards. This resort was the most suitable place.

Although what I am to do on a vacation, I have no clue. Knowing me, I will more than likely turn this into a business venture and gain some new contracts for N&Z and NCBC. That will at least make this venture worthwhile.

Now normally I have perfect posture while in public, yet at this moment I find myself lounging on one of the couches after receiving a pedicure. The aromas of the scented candles and incense fills the air, while soothing and gentle tones of music can be heard gently playing in the background. There are others within the spa, yet each seem tranquil on their own.

Perhaps once my nails dry, I may go for a little walk.

And get myself a much needed glass of wine.

Lorn swirled the amber liquid in his glass, the soft glow of the bar reflecting back in its depths. Corellian Whiskey. His usual choice after Kahne Porte Kahne Porte had introduced him to it. He still couldn't quite believe he was here, aboard the Obelisk, surrounded by a level of opulence he'd only seen in holovids. His Vanguard, bless their chaotic hearts, had somehow bought him a ticket for this "galactic getaway." A prize he hadn't even known existed until a few of his men had practically begged him to take a break. He'd argued, of course. There was always work to be done, always training to oversee. But they'd worn him down with their insistent pleas, their genuine concern etched on their faces. And, admittedly, the whispers of an exotic raffle had piqued his interest.

He took a slow sip of the whiskey, the smooth burn surprisingly comforting. He'd spent the days since arriving like a lost Bantha calf, wandering through the Obelisk's many corridors, overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the place. Casinos that shimmered with impossible lights, restaurants promising flavors from across the galaxy, spas that claimed to melt away years of stress. It was sensory overload.

Tonight, he'd found himself at yet another upscale eatery, perched on a barstool amidst a sea of glittering gowns and ostentatious jewelry. He felt like he'd stumbled into a noble's private party. These were people who probably vacationed on space stations regularly. He was trying his best to just blend in… or at least not stick out like a sore thumb.

Taking another drink, Lorn turned his gaze down the bar, his eyes scanning the crowd. Then, his gaze snagged on someone at the other end of the bar. A woman, sitting alone, nursing a drink he couldn't quite make out. There was something familiar about her profile. He squinted, trying to place her.

He caught the barkeep's eye, gestured toward the woman, and said, "Whatever she's drinking, put it on my tab and send her another." He managed a casual nod in her direction, hoping he didn't look like a complete idiot. This was either going to be a very interesting night, or a colossal misunderstanding. Either way, it was definitely a step up from staring into his whiskey and feeling out of place.

Valery traced a slow finger along the rim of her Alderaanian red wine, watching the deep crimson liquid swirl inside the glass. The bar around her was alive with quiet chatter, the occasional clink of crystal against polished stone, but she barely registered any of it. She was alone in her thoughts, letting them drift like smoke through the air — too many of them, too tangled, all pulling her mind in different directions.

She sighed softly, reaching for her drink just as the bartender approached.

"That one’s on the house," the man said with a knowing smirk, sliding a fresh glass in front of her. "Or rather, on him."

Valery blinked, her fiery gaze lifting in question. The bartender subtly tilted his head toward the other end of the bar, and when she followed his gesture, her gaze landed on an unfamiliar face

A smirk curled at the corner of her lips, before she chuckled, clearly amused.

Running a hand through the dark waves of her hair, Valery turned in her seat and smoothly slid off the barstool. The slit of her deep crimson dress, edged with golden trim, shifted with each step as she made her way toward him.

Reaching his side, she settled into the seat beside him, one leg crossing over the other as she lifted the fresh glass in a light toast.

"To what do I owe the gesture?" she asked, her voice rich with amusement.

"Sorry to say but I think I'm still going to get taller. I might have to start picking you up so you don't have to care your head back." Aris flashed the briefest of a grin, clearly teasing. Distracting. Zaiya had gone all out on looking pretty for this date, as much as he had. No, more so. She was really, really pretty right now. Really pretty. The distracting kind of pretty- He shook his head.

No getting too distracted.

He offered his arm, smiling faintly.

"And you're beautiful as ever. Shall we go get lunch? Or dinner? Not sure which meal it is they're going to serve but I'm excited to try it with you."

"Ma'am? Are you ready to order?"

Cora placed the holopad back onto the table. She'd been eyeing the restaurant's generous selection of nerf steaks when the server approached.

"Not quite yet, no. I'm waiting on a guest."

"Can I get you started on a drink, then?"

The blonde paused. She retrieved the holopad once more, scrolling through the menu until drink options appeared.

"A glass of the Alderaanian Red would be lovely. Thank you."

"Certainly."

The waiter disappeared. Cora smoothed one hand along the crown of her head, ensuring that blonde strands rested where she'd pinned them. Her attire was tidy and professional, a simple navy dinner dress with clean lines in a modest cut.

It had been a while since Dreidi had gotten to meet with Ran, they had spent several months together working with the witches near the enclave that Ran was in charge of. Something she hoped her friend was doing well with, especially since she had spent a lot of time working with the Jedi to help them understand the complex and differing ways that a Witch would see things over the Jedi.

Dreidi had been meaning to get back in contact with her friend sooner to see how things were and offer Ran a chance to come to Dathomir to explore things. However, the sudden pregnancy and then motherhood had taken her focus away from interacting with others. She had to prioritise Aileni but seeing that there was a relaxation spot opening up in the GA, Dreidi figured that both Ran and herself could catch up there. An ideal chance to relax and enjoy time together.

The pools had seem the most child friendly of the available activities and Dreidi was keen on Aileni being able to swim and be active as possible for a baby. She needed to find things he would enjoy while he was this young since Dreidi heavily suspected that like herself, Aileni was going to be a very active and physical child so she needed to find ways to tire him out.

Once she had changed into the dark green swimsuit, she made sure that Aileni was in an appropriate baby swimsuit as well before leaving her room and walking to where she was going to meet up with Ran. Before she reached the location, she had begun to hear the snoring. In part because it was snoring but also, her sensitive ears could pick up sounds quiet easily. Dreidi giggled, it seemed that her friend was clearly usually very busy and stressed. It was good that she was able to relax for once.

Dreidi entered the room with Ran snoring, walking over to her friend, she decided to let her friend rest up for a bit. Clearly the sleep was needed and Dreidi was never going to disturb that. Instead, she wrote a note explaining she was in the pool and Grisial would guide her there once she was awake and ready. "Well, Aileni, this is Ran. She's asleep because being a Jedi can be super tiring, so we have to take breaks like this every once in a while." Dreidi whispered to her baby before she headed to the pool with Aileni.

While Lily had been pushing herself to train and work as hard as she could, there was also a significant part of her mind in the voice of Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren , her master, telling her to take a break. To relax and allow her body to recover some energy and settle. It was something that Lily knew was going to be only growing louder in her mind and potentially even have her Master actually tell her off aloud if she didn't at least attempt some form of relaxation and destressing.

The Obelisk was intriguing location and Lily figured it would be a good spot to relax and let out her stresses, a massage, hot tub and maybe even attempt some gambling later on could be a lot of fun. For now, she focused on the spa treatment options, figuring that a hot tub with some calming aromas could be a nice start for her to relax in. Maybe try the gym later or a massage to stretch her muscles and relax herself even more.

Breathing in deeply, she let out a sigh, it felt silly to even try enjoying herself when there were others out there suffering and in need of her help. That her job was not finished, not even close. Why should she be able to enjoy this while others were actively suffering? It seemed unfair to the Echani but she also knew that if she pushed herself into being a ragged mess, then Lily would end up helping no one and just be more of a hindrance.

It was a complicated mess, Lily just needed to sink into the hot water and close her eyes, try and let her thoughts drift away with the steam. However, she was still waiting for her turn.

Okay, so Mom is busy working, Cousin Connel is off somewhere working, and Uncle Caltin is doing his stupid show. I shouldn’t say that, it’s mean, and he did promise we would play video games later, but for people “all about family” they sure know how to bail.

Oh well.

So I’m going swimming! This pool is huge! OOH There’re slides? I’m goin’ on the slides! Maybe this won’t be so bad.I'm going to have a blast on those slides! The water is perfect, and I can already feel my worries slipping away. Maybe being here won't be so bad after all. Some kid just splashed me! He’s gonna pay for that!

SPLASH FIGHT!

Objective: Spa Relaxing!

It was easy to lose track of time when playing a bunch of different arcade machines. Fight of the Krayt Dragon, Streets of Dark Side, Gungan Warriors. Shan was actually able to feel like a kid again as he fiddled around with the machines. It was a nice way to relieve some of the stress but he knew he couldn't stay here forever. He had to get moving again as he took a step back from the arcade machine and stretched his shoulder back a little bit. Shan did feel a little bit stiff he was being honest to himself. Maybe a nice dip in a spa would help. It wasn't normally his type of thing but...hey. If people liked that kind of stuff, maybe he should try it himself.

And so he made his way through the resort again, stretching his arms out as he shoved his hands into his pockets. It was strange not to have his robes on and be in more of a casual outfit, but Shan always felt some form of responsibility whenever he wore his Jedi robes. Today was meant to be about him enjoying himself. No stress and no responsibilities. Rest, relaxation and repeat! It was strange to think of how different the Galaxy was depending on where you were. How people seemed to be at peace at the resort. It was like they didn't have a care in the world. Or maybe they were acting like they didn't have a care. Like how Shan was ignoring it...

Eventually he managed to get to the spa, where he spotted a familiar head of white hair. Making his way over towards Lily with a little smile on his face, whilst stretching his arms out. It was nice to finally see someone he knew in the resort, but there were probably others somewhere around here.

"Hey. Fancy seeing you here. Looking good."

See. Shan had matured. In the past, he'd have mentioned how the spa didn't seem like the kind of place Lily would enjoy...but now he knew that could potentially offend someone. So he left it at that, keeping the grin on his face.

Stepping through the entrance of The Obelisk, Ezorea took in the sights and scents of the renowned establishment. Her long, white hair cascaded down her back, a stark contrast to the deep blue and silver of her Zethussaln robes. The fabric shimmered under the ambient lighting, the serpentine Arkanian dragon on her chest a silent testament to her lineage. But it wasn't her attire that drew passing glances—it was her eyes. Unlike the pure white gaze of most Arkanians, hers were a striking shade of purple, pupil-less and enigmatic.

This was her first time here, and while the array of 5-star restaurants and diverse dining options intrigued her, it was the company she was about to keep that made this visit particularly interesting. She was meeting with a blonde woman—someone she had only heard of before, but never met in person. The anticipation made her all the more aware of her surroundings, from the hum of conversation to the tantalizing aroma of dishes being prepared by some of the galaxy's finest chefs.

Would this meeting prove as satisfying as the promised culinary experience? Only time would tell. But for now, Ezorea was ready to indulge—both in the food and in whatever discussions awaited her.

Ezorea scanned the restaurant, her purple, pupil-less eyes moving carefully over the patrons. The refined ambiance of The Obelisk suited her, though she found the lighting a touch dimmer than she preferred. Her robes, flowing and elegant, shimmered with every step, the silver embroidery catching the soft glow of the chandeliers.

Then, she spotted her.

Seated with quiet poise, the blonde woman had the air of someone accustomed to waiting—composed, deliberate. The navy of her dress was a stark contrast to Ezorea's more elaborate attire, but the simplicity suited her. As Ezorea approached, she noted the holopad set neatly on the table, the residual glow from the screen fading as the woman placed it aside.

Stopping just beside the table, Ezorea inclined her head, a customary Arkanian show of acknowledgment.

Her voice was smooth, measured. "I trust I haven't kept you waiting too long."

She had seen enough of the stars and decided a change of scenery was in order. Tasia still had no interest in the casinos or the more gaudy aspects of wider society, but she could see herself enjoying a spa. There was nothing more relaxing that floating alone on a lake under the nabooian stars. Except today she would wear the costume she had slipped on under her raiment.

It was a wrap around one piece swimsuit that clearly showed the Kiffar tattoos on her face extended all the way down her left arm and left leg. After very neatly folding her raiment she considered whether she should leave her saber here or take it to the pool, she would have time trust the force that it would not be required so she locked it away before entering the spar.

It was pleasant in here, a good choice. Nearby where she had entered was a green man and a woman she recognised, a fairly unmistakable woman whose physique was only more apparent now she was in the spa clothes. "Hi, may I join you both, I'm Tasia." she hoped she wasnt interrupting anything but looked at Lily for confirmation and to offer a compliment. "I attended your duel with Padawan Cerys, you are an exceptional warrior. she smiled at the muscular woman and the man who on closer inspection appeared to be Mirialan.

Waiting for her time in the hot tub, Lily was leaning back in the chair, attempting to relax a little before she entered when she heard a familiar voice and felt a smirk form on her lips as she looked over to see Shan. "Seems I have an admirer following me around." Lily teased, it was nice to see Shan again and seeing him outside of the Jedi setting, which was something she didn't think she had seen Shan outside of before.

"Well, figured forcing myself away from work and training might help with all the thoughts and stress. Seems you had a similar idea." Lily mentioned, "hopefully it is helping you." She added, with a warm smile, hoping he was doing better from their last meeting.

As they talked, a second person walked up. Someone Lily recognised from RNR, specifically from her spar with Cerys. It was good to see Tasia here as well, she was sure the native to Naboo was enjoying a trip away from home. It was exciting for Lily when she got to step away from Eshan. Nerve wracking and a lot to take in but there was excitement as well. "Hey, Tasia, right? Glad to see you again, hopefully you are enjoying your trip here!"

"Thanks, helps when you are Echani and fighting is your first language." Lily stated with a humble chuckle, "did you both want to join me in the hot tub? I booked one that is meant to have a lovely floral aroma that is stated to help soothe the mind and body." Lily explained as she held up the brochure she had been looking over.

For a second, Shan was flustered at Lily's teasing, stuttering over his words for a moment before he took in a deep breath to steady himself. Two people could try and play at this game.

"Well, you make it hard not to admire you. You can't blame a guy...But yeah. It's been fun. Just spent a bit playing games in the Arcade. Felt like a big kid."

He jabbed his thumb back in the direction that he had came from, as he gave Lily a quick flash of a smile. It had been good on his mind to get away from the Temple on some non-Jedi business. Remind himself that he was still a person and needed a break.

Shan turned his head over towards the new arrival, giving them a bright smile. He was always a fan of meeting new people, especially friends of his friends as he held his hand out in Tasia Palpatine Tasia Palpatine 's direction with a nod.

"Shan Pavond. Jedi Knight and Doctor. Pleasure to meet you."

The Mirialan internally cringed at the way he introduced himself. He thought it sounded arrogant or as if he had an ego. But he had been told that he should take pride in what he had worked for. And he had worked hard for those titles. They were a part of his identity at the end of the day. He shouldn't try to keep it hidden.

"I'm up to try a hot-tub. I've only been in one once before."

It was an offer that Jonyna had given him after Woostri. Heh. It was funny to him that he kept getting invited to take some time in a hot-tub. Might as well make the most out of the enjoyment!

Aiden arrived with the intent on doing some gambling, even though that was probably the worst idea in the history of ideas that Aiden had ever had. However the day was about having fun, and letting the worries slip away. After everything that was going on in the galaxy particularly around Naboo, a day like this wasn't so bad.

Truth be told he hadn't ever gambled in his life, but he brough some chips he could play enough to challenge that intelligence at the games. He understood the concept and the drive of it for some people. First thing's first was to get a drink. The Jedi Padawan made his way towards the bar as he request a small glass of Whiskey. Aiden was dressed as well as he could be, nothing to crazy but enough to show some flare.

The Bartender arrived with the drink that was requested and he took the glass in his hand and took a small sip.

This stuff was really growing on him.

Lorn watched the bartender pour the wine, placing it down the polished wood near the woman at the far end of the bar. He plastered on what he hoped was a charming, not-creepy, smile. He wasn't expecting a miracle, honestly, but when she actually started to move, to peel herself off that stool, a jolt of pure, unadulterated panic shot through him.

He swiftly smoothed down his well-worn shirt, ran a hand through his already disheveled hair, trying to dial back the "rugged" look and nudge it closer to "approachable gentleman." He downed the rest of his whiskey, grateful for the two shots he'd already knocked back. They'd hopefully lubricate his rusty small-talk gears.

She was close now, close enough to see the flecks of gold in her eyes, and then, she was next to him, sliding onto the stool. She raised her glass in a toast, a spark of amusement in her eyes. Lorn, mirroring her gesture with a slightly tipsy grin.

"Hmm." he drawled, aiming for a mysterious vibe and probably landing closer to "slightly tipsy philosopher." "You just caught my eye. You seem…familiar. Like someone i've seen before." Smooth, Lorn, smooth.

He savored a sip of his whiskey, letting the warmth spread through him. "I'm flying solo tonight," he said, gesturing towards the elegant dining room beyond the bar with a flourish. "Thought I might see if you'd care to join me for drinks? Maybe even brave a dinner with a stranger? Unless, of course, you're waiting on someone already." He raised an eyebrow, hoping it came across as playful and not just…weird.

He extended his hand, a bold move for the usually reticent Lorn. "Alfie." he said, the name feeling foreign and yet liberating on his tongue.

Tonight wasn't about being Lorn, the guy drowning his sorrows in a glass, wallowing in his solitude. Tonight was about playing a role, borrowing a little of his friend Alfie's charisma, his zest for life. Alfie, the wild card who'd gifted him this escape, this chance to breathe. Lorn figured he probably wouldn't ever see this woman again, so what harm could a little harmless impersonation do? A night of being someone… less Lorn.

The thought alone made him smile.
