Post: II
Carlyle listened to the man's apology closely and shook it off, "Rear Admiral Cardan, I do understand there is no need to apologies among allies," The officer replied, waving his hand dismissively. "Water under the proverbial bridge," Carlyle added, "If anything, I should apologies for the gross error in navigation I performed." Carlyle added with a small chuckle, "Unfortunately, I am not in command, that honour falls to Grand Admiral Tregessar, a man whose war record dwarfs, I think nearly anyone who faces us on the field of battle." He paused, "It is an honour to serve with you gentlemen. May the Force be with you." The connection flickered off.
Carlyle strode away from the holotable, and decided to inspect the growing number of fleets. A sense of pride swelled inside as the First Order began to make its presence known. He however did note the high concentration of Alliance ships jumping out of lightspeed. They had clearly been prepared to engage the newer resurgent-class star destroyers, rather than the considerably smaller strike forces mustered by the First Imperial Navy. Rausgeber simply nodded his head as his Scanning Officer began to list of the ships arriving. He wasn't really listening, until his Signals Officer spoke, "Admiral, we have a public signal from the Alliance."
Carlyle looked at the officer, a little dumbstruck, but regained his steeled composure. "Play it." Wordlessly, the message of Alexandra Morrow was broadcast through the bridge. Carlyle could feel his blood boiling, such lies, and such demands from petulant children would not be tolerated. Rausgeber turned to the Signals Officer, "We shall send out our own broadcast, prepare it on all public channels."
"Understood admiral," The Signals Officer replied, before she began tinkering with the panel, after a brief pause, she turned to Rausgeber, "We're live to the whole sector sir."
Carlyle stepped forward, "Admiral Morrow, I am admiral Carlyle Rausgeber of the First Imperial Navy." He boldly pronounced, "Today, our jaunty incursion into your territory has been masterminded by none other than yourselves." He smoothly proclaimed, his voice stern, but at the same time soft, "The Galactic Alliance, your government, with reckless abandon discredited your sovereignty over Kaeshana," Rausgeber coolly snarled, "Ignoring repeated hails to halt your arrival, and disturbance of a humanitarian mission." He paused, "For too long, we have bowed to your threats. Attempted to appease the Jedi zealots and hypocrites in your ranks. But at last, we are freed from the tyranny of diplomatic nicities." Carlyle snapped, "Our victory over Kaeshana was the first step of your ruination. Today, today our victory here will be us digging your corrupt governments grave." The admiral raised his fist, and the transmission concluded.
"As inspirational as that was admiral," The Signals Officer sardonically replied, "We have received orders to open fire."
"Follow them," Carlyle said, "It is time we show the Alliance our power. Fire all batteries." The firing from Strike Force Reach was ineffectual to say the least. While the Remnant brought a nice superlaser, and Grand Admiral Tregessar a ship armed with hypervelocity batteries, the ships of Strike Force Reach were designed to be used against the enemy in medium to close range engagements. Even the missile cruisers were ineffectual, as the gravitational disturbance of the anomaly fried their trajectory.
Carlyle watched the other ships in the fleet engage, and turned back to the holotable, "Get me a signal with all the officers of this fleet, we need to strategies." He said, as the Signals Officer worked to link comms between the flagships of the respective fleets.
