Post: II

Carlyle listened to the man's apology closely and shook it off, "Rear Admiral Cardan, I do understand there is no need to apologies among allies," The officer replied, waving his hand dismissively. "Water under the proverbial bridge," Carlyle added, "If anything, I should apologies for the gross error in navigation I performed." Carlyle added with a small chuckle, "Unfortunately, I am not in command, that honour falls to Grand Admiral Tregessar, a man whose war record dwarfs, I think nearly anyone who faces us on the field of battle." He paused, "It is an honour to serve with you gentlemen. May the Force be with you." The connection flickered off.

Carlyle strode away from the holotable, and decided to inspect the growing number of fleets. A sense of pride swelled inside as the First Order began to make its presence known. He however did note the high concentration of Alliance ships jumping out of lightspeed. They had clearly been prepared to engage the newer resurgent-class star destroyers, rather than the considerably smaller strike forces mustered by the First Imperial Navy. Rausgeber simply nodded his head as his Scanning Officer began to list of the ships arriving. He wasn't really listening, until his Signals Officer spoke, "Admiral, we have a public signal from the Alliance."

Carlyle looked at the officer, a little dumbstruck, but regained his steeled composure. "Play it." Wordlessly, the message of Alexandra Morrow was broadcast through the bridge. Carlyle could feel his blood boiling, such lies, and such demands from petulant children would not be tolerated. Rausgeber turned to the Signals Officer, "We shall send out our own broadcast, prepare it on all public channels."

"Understood admiral," The Signals Officer replied, before she began tinkering with the panel, after a brief pause, she turned to Rausgeber, "We're live to the whole sector sir."

Carlyle stepped forward, "Admiral Morrow, I am admiral Carlyle Rausgeber of the First Imperial Navy." He boldly pronounced, "Today, our jaunty incursion into your territory has been masterminded by none other than yourselves." He smoothly proclaimed, his voice stern, but at the same time soft, "The Galactic Alliance, your government, with reckless abandon discredited your sovereignty over Kaeshana," Rausgeber coolly snarled, "Ignoring repeated hails to halt your arrival, and disturbance of a humanitarian mission." He paused, "For too long, we have bowed to your threats. Attempted to appease the Jedi zealots and hypocrites in your ranks. But at last, we are freed from the tyranny of diplomatic nicities." Carlyle snapped, "Our victory over Kaeshana was the first step of your ruination. Today, today our victory here will be us digging your corrupt governments grave." The admiral raised his fist, and the transmission concluded.

"As inspirational as that was admiral," The Signals Officer sardonically replied, "We have received orders to open fire."

"Follow them," Carlyle said, "It is time we show the Alliance our power. Fire all batteries." The firing from Strike Force Reach was ineffectual to say the least. While the Remnant brought a nice superlaser, and Grand Admiral Tregessar a ship armed with hypervelocity batteries, the ships of Strike Force Reach were designed to be used against the enemy in medium to close range engagements. Even the missile cruisers were ineffectual, as the gravitational disturbance of the anomaly fried their trajectory.

Carlyle watched the other ships in the fleet engage, and turned back to the holotable, "Get me a signal with all the officers of this fleet, we need to strategies." He said, as the Signals Officer worked to link comms between the flagships of the respective fleets.

- BATTLE MEDITATION ACTIVATED -

"We have arrived in the Asmeru system, admiral" Julie reported to Cathul.

"Activate battle meditation! All craft, deploy the defensive screen, Hero of Coruscant, Tax Return, prepare to fire a volley of long-range torpedoes!" Cathul ordered the crew, while sensing that the ship with the concave dish is somehow a major component of the Imperial Remnant's strategy and, yet, has no point-defense around said dish.

"Admiral, we have an incoming transmission" the communications officer in the CIC told Cathul.

"Patch it through"

Alexandra Morrow said:
"Send a message to Admiral Thuku, have her maintain the center position and we will provide the starboard flank."
"Acknowledged. It appears that the ship with the concave dish has little point-defense: if you have long-range torpedoes, may I suggest to fire long-range torpedoes at the concave dish?"

If Alexandra provided the starboard flank, then the Patrol Fleet Six would be on our port flank; the Outer Rim Coalition may as well be elsewhere in the system, she thought. She immediately spotted that there were two main objectives to accomplish in order to inflict the desired trauma: destroying both the Darr Itah, whom she knew it to be a glass cannon (and the last Darr Itah she fought narrowly escaped destruction) and the Conqueror-class star destroyer, both firing at Alexandra's flagship, the Resolute. But those who served alongside Therapy Command knew that Therapy Command was used for medvac or inflicting trauma: Cathul knew that, sometimes, inflicting trauma upon enemies would affect their morale. Now, Julie has retreated to its own quarters, those that Cathul would normally use when off-duty and, from there, activated battle meditation as ordered. For sure, Julie had a similar amount of power in her Force-batteries to draw upon to bring battle meditation to bear, compared to Cathul herself, but Julie had the edge over Cathul in terms of battle meditation skill, so she would be more effective at using it than Cathul would; the reverse is true when it comes to Force-sense/sight. With battle meditation being activated, plans were made to cause the trauma as outlined in the pre-battle speech:

"Fire the long-range missiles at the Conqueror's concave dish!"

"Why not concentrate all our long-range firepower at the enemy Darr Itah?" the gunnery officer asked Cathul.

"The enemy Darr Itah has a feth-ton of point-defense emplacements, so fire only dumb-fired weapons at it. Oh and remind me to get the heavy Javelin cannons replaced by turreted 380mm hypervelocity cannons if the Nobles survive"

"Why should we get the heavy Javelin cannons replaced?"

"The firepower one would get from the heavy Javelin is, yes, comparable to that of the 380mm hypervelocity cannon, but the 380mm HVC is turreted and takes up much less space onboard"

"Your orders, admiral?"

"Dumb-fired long-range weapons, target the Darr Itah's engines!"

Hopefully the change in targeting solutions induced by the gravitational anomaly would actually work: the curvature caused by the gravitational anomaly may fry the trajectory of unadjusted warheads, but here ten cloaked MIRVs, whose buses would reveal seven standard concussion missiles each once they arrive within range, alongside 23 heavy long-range torpedoes, were fired at the Conqueror registered as the IRV Firebrand, while taking into account the adjustments required for the warheads not to fall into the gravitational anomaly. Meanwhile, the volley of long-range fire directed at the Darr Itah's engines, including every single bit of long-range fire that could be fired at the Darr Itah, that is, a combination of hypervelocity cannon fire (Javelins, Mini-Javelins, turreted 380mm HVCs), energy torpedoes, and, of course, the proprietary weapons being issued post-Kaeshana, including the ion cannons and the two heavy long-range turbolaser versions, called the Toprawa and the Ziost respectively. For a total of over 1900 turbolasers' worth of long-range fire; hopefully, with battle meditation now active, that would actually be effective against the enemy ships even at that range.

The crew of the Argo nonchalantly expected their reversion to realspace, some were humming melodies, others had been enjoying their coffees and cracking their knuckles.

The whole crew froze when the lines of hyperspace blurred out into a space consumed by massive fleets warring.

Sensors were going crazy as the Argo found itself in the middle of the Alliance's armada.

"Cap'n." Hay, the girl at the sensors and scanners, whispered. "What, uh-"

"We found out what's good to do on Ansmeru, it seems." Dyre said after a long drawn out sigh and barely dropping his coffee mug on the floor. He set it up on the mug holder on his seat and ordered. "Ping the Galactic Alliance fleets. Let them know we are for sale."

"WHAT?!" The Argo snapped in unison.

"Captain, if I may, the Alliance-" Duriq began but was quickly cut off by Agenor.

"I am not having any of your conspiracy theories, Duri. Hay, you patch me through yet ?"

"N-no,Sir, trying to swim through all these pings that have been flying at us." Hay replied, her voice shaking. It was to be her first battle in space. Real battle.

"Shields up, gentlemen, if you haven't noticed there's a god damn war fought. Don't arm us yet, Kan, don't want to make no trigger happy gunner happy today. Hay, you better have a line open for me."

"Got it, Sir! Safely transmitting to Galactic Alliance ships in three, two, one."

The transmission that the Galactic Alliance ships would receive would be in the form of Agenor's hologram. The captain would then speak:

"Greetings, Officers of the Galactic Alliance. I will keep this short as there's a battle to be won out there. My name's Agenor Dyre, captain of the Argo. The peak of Mandalorian technology. I am no Mandalorian but the Argo is a gunship for hire. Say the price, no foolish ones please, and it will pay out tenfold. Promise you that."

The Stoic was the first ship to arrive from hyperspace. The great prow blade cutting through the space above Morrow's fleet. The rest of the vessels arrived in a haphazard order. Jacen picked himself up from the floor of the bridge's viewing gallery. He had been peacefully meditating.

The cloaked that draped over his battle armour dragged across the deck as he moved to the command station.

"Captain?"

"That anomaly is playing havoc with sensors. It's going to make tight maneuvers difficult and hamper long range fire. It disrupted our hyperspace jump, but we're forming up now. Just reporting in to Morrow."

Jacen reached up and pulled back his good. "Well then, it would seem we're going to have to get closer then."

"Sir, a mercenary is offering his services," called a comma officer.

"Perhaps," Jacen said, "I should leave you to the naval business and deal with this."

The Captain nodded. Jacen left him to stressing out in his command chair and reporting back enemy positions to command.

"This is Marshal Voidstalker," he replied to the message a few moments later. "We're amenable, sending terms over. They include engagement terms as well as a funding notice, please skim them at least."

The alliance had a long history of employing freighter captains and naval mercenaries when times were difficult, but holidng them to account for their actions was always necessary.

The small task force formed up. Twenty squadrons of fighters formed a picket, Dreadnoughts took the lead as they pushed forwards closer to the anomaly.

Jorg slowly positioned himself on the boarding shuttle, tying the safety belts into place and glancing out the viewport for just a few seconds to spot the other ships that were getting ready within the hangar bay. The Major thinned his lips slightly, glancing towards the girl that seemed to be taking selfies of herself before looking at the GADF soldiers and then the spec ops guys. He briefly watched as the Pilot crawled into the cockpit, swearing to herself as though this were some cursed mission.

Good sign. His gaze briefly flickered towards the corner of his HUD. "T-Minus five, ladies and gentlemen."

The Absolution was slowly crawling through the black abyss of space, moving towards the anomaly and where they would, presumably, find the enemy fleet. Jorg didn't have all the information, in fact he barely had any information at all. Naval Intelligence hardly liked to share with the regular Defense Force guys, nevermind the Legion. most of the time they had to forge their own way before actually finding out anything at all. He frowned slightly then redirected his attention.

"It's going to get bumpy." He told the girl in front of him, not knowing if she'd done this before.

Jorg assumed she was some kind of force user, mostly because that had been his experience so far.

Almost as if on cue, he felt the sudden lurch as the Boarding shuttle was released from the docking clamps and prepared to launch from the hangar bay.

As reversion became imminent, Suravi had her tablet in hand, fingers a blur over the touchscreen as she issued commands across the formation. More efficient than issuing verbal commands down the chain, it was the next best thing to having a neural interface.

Thanks to sensor fusion, she was able to get a picture of the situation before reversion, and make a plan of attack. There were now several large formations moving about, but she centered on the one she recognized as the infamous Therapy Command, pride of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. At the heart of the formation was a Metalus-class, the very same model used by the Butcher of Korribanhttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/95292-t...r-v-sith-order-rebellion/page-20#entry1409126. Loulan may be dead, but her despicable legacy lived on in those mechanical monstrosities. For a short while after Korriban, she had seriously considered decimating all holdings of Ringovinda StarYards. Those desires were now rekindled, and now she had a legitimate reason to proceed as the Galactic Alliance now seemed to be in bed with Ringovinda. However, first came this carrier in particular.

Her task force reverted into the Asmeru system in a wide spherical formation with a radius of hundreds of kilometers, ships close enough to still support each other, but dispersed enough to make it difficult to focus the whole formation at once. At the center of the formation was her flagship, the White Base. The next layer was that of her trio of Coronas, ideal for close range fire support. Then after that came her quartet of Delphins, tough assault frigates with good range and ECM capabilities. Finally, all her gunships, and several starfighter squadrons formed the outmost layers, LSRs at the very fringes to provide early warning.

Almost immediately following reversion, her capital ships would begin dumping dozens of empion mines in their wake from their cargo holds, leaving a nasty surprise for Alliance reinforcements that may try entering the system behind her. There was always the likelihood of poor civilian vessels tripping through the minefield unawares of the naval engagement taking place, but fortunately the mines were non-lethal. The Republic was nothing if not humane.

Two LSR’s and a few two man ships of Fencers drones split off from the main body to begin their ISR mission, and to help with terminal guidance at long range through the interference being caused by the gravitonic anomalies of the sinkhole. With Hydrahttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/83058-hydra-mesh-networking-program/, these ships effectively became another set of eyes and ears for the main body with seamless data sharing and muxing in real time.

On the White Base, power was diverted away from most capital DEW (directed energy weapon) emplacements save for the heavy energy torpedo launchers to allow a temporary boost in speed as she began to maneuver her formation to strike Therapy Command from the rear, careful to shift the axis of the formation so that they would avoid crossfire with friendly formations and vice versa.

Her Delphins activated their jamming arrayshttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/57902-llt-12-erebus-jamming-array/, focusing their energy on the Mateus carrier and the pair of Noble-class cruisers within the enemy formation, attempting to cripple communication and targeting systems of what she deemed the most dangerous vessels in the formation before beginning her attack. The measure wasn’t only for herself, but also for friendly formations currently being targeted by Therapy command.

The LSR and Fencers had flown out far enough to begin their reconnaissance mission and share valuable data for accurate targeting. To help reduce chances of detection, they stuck to using their passive sensors and tightbeam communication/biocomms. The LSRs had the benefit of several passive systems to keep themselves hidden, while the Fencers utilized their DERPshttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dedicated_energy_receptor_projector to do the same.

The White Base and Delphins opened fire as they came with an acceptable position for long range engagement, collectively targeting the Metalus' engines and tower with a steady stream of fire from hypervelocity batteries and heavy plasma energy torpedoshttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/56537-the-republic-plasma-energy-torpedo/?hl=+plasma++energy++torpedo in cycles. It was a specific sequence of attack designed to first weaken the shields with the energy torpedos, then immediately follow up with a hail of shield and armor busting vibro-flechetteshttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/83209-vibro-flechette/.

At the same time, Therapy Command’s fighter screens were targeted with volleys from Rhongomyniadhttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/40497-rhongomyniad-class-mass-driver-cannon/ mass driver cannons, spewing customizable hollow shells filled with a combination of ion charges and canisters of 40mm vibro flechettes.

Now it was on. She wasn’t expecting much in this first exchange, but she hoped to give her allies breathing space to engage the other enemy formations as she gave Therapy Command a warm Republic greeting.

Mahan waited impatiently as the battlecruiser repositioned itself near Grand Admiral Tregessar's own Darr Itah. The briefing had ended and Mahan was joined only by his Director of Operations and his aide. The room was dark and only illuminated by the holomap displayed on top of the table. Mahan had ordered the Providence to get into optimal firing array for their first salvo as Rear Admiral Cardan's force had already begun firing. It was embarrassing leading such a pitiful fleet, but the long journey and the dangerous hyperlane routes forced them to only bring a small force. This whole operation was more of a diplomatic mission than a military aid mission, this was all because the damned Emperor wanted to show his dedication to the Imperial cause, the pitiful jag. Mulling this over, Mahan watched the little triangle slowly move across the holomap in real time, following the ship's movement. From reports coming in, he knew fire was being traded, but the holo technology couldn't display it.

Finally, the Providence lurched into position, letting Mahan ring up the bridge. Before him stood Rear Admiral Hardeen in hologram form, ready to take Mahan's orders, "Admiral Hardeen, prepare firing solutions."
"Firing solutions targeted,"
"Weapons release on my mark,"
"Awaiting mark."
"Mark,"
"As you wish, commander."
The blue tinted form of the Rear Admiral bowed before disappearing into non-existence. Finished with his work in the war room, Mahan opened the hatch, his aide following, on route to an observation deck. As he walked through, Mahan could hear the turbolaser batteries releasing their full barrages onto the enemy fleet, hopefully to deal a good bit of damage. Mahan opened another hatch onto an empty observation room, a large viewport of the battle in front of them. Mahan was pleased with what he saw, he had quite a show in front of him.

X <-- Sticking with the 80's theme

As the fighting began Hellburner fleet had taken it's positions still in deep space to the 90 degrees north (above) and 90 degees south (below) the system. Well out of the hyperspace lanes they were using the sheet vastness of space to cloak their numbers.

With the Resu navigators aboard every ship but the droid controlled 75 they were able to navigate as if they had the finest nav computers . With the anomaly this skill was going to be an absolute must. With rough scans coordinate and given Bryce prepared to jump in.

"All crew, ready QQ-4U85 Tractor Shrouds, power up QQ-543N/53R Cap Drain Modules, prepare QQ-45H/310T Countermeasures Modules, arm weapons and for the love of the force raise shields. We will be jumping into the system. Now realize we are going to be coming in at a weird angle, from below so be sure to get your barings. I will issue orders directly, everyone follow to the letter and lets go kick some imperial tail! On my mark, 125's, fodder 1, Jump!"

The first part of the fleet appeared right where Bryce had hoped save for the droid controlled 75, it has appeared some 1000km off course and behind.

"All hands red alert, raise shields. Orders are to prepare defensive screens around the larger vessels," Commander Cyone ordered as she looked down at the encrypted message that Grand Admiral Tregessar had sent on a command frequency. "Take up screen positions here," she sent the coordinates Quentin, "get that to the rest of the task group. Initiate the screen around the White Base, I want the Bolts ready to intercept anything that comes this way." Was her next order while the klaxons continued to blare, weapons were now ready not that the Constellation had much in the way of teeth, she did make up for it with science. "Lieutenant Choi, nice of you to join us." She said as the young man entered the bridge from the right taking his seat at the console. Choi gave her a pitiful look and she shook her head a bit, "Choi tap us into the Huginn Biocomm Network. Should make it easier for us to monitor the rest the fleet's vitals."

Valasquez looked over at Cyone for a moment before directing her attention to Ensign Quentin, "get us a line with White Base." Quentin acknowledged silently and gave a thumb up when the line was ready. "General Teigra, where do you want us?" They only waited momentarily when the word was sent, they could slip in between the Coronas and the Delphins. "You heard the lady, let's get into position." Valasquez issued the order and brought up the view of the anomaly again, "remember when I said we should keep a safe distance?" Cyone raised a brow while looking at her first officer. "Pretty sure we could reverse polarity on the tractor beams." Which was simply a change in direction, the neutrons still had to go somewhere so if the tractor beams weren't going to pull, they would push. "We'd have to wait until they got in range of course."

The shuttle sets loose and we drift through space. The flight is deceptively peaceful.

No flak or laser fire to set the ship bouncing. Not yet anyway.

The legionnaire sitting beside me gives the intel girl across from us the cue to buckle up. She's wearing armor weave, but is not a soldier. I can imagine some of the guys in my unit grumbling about backpacking her through combat.

"Ma'am, are you on comms?" I tap my helmet, hoping she has a headset hidden away somewhere.

Thinsuit, mechanic overalls, grease and oil up to her elbows. Adder looked every bit the sore thumb that she felt as she strode across the deck. Marines to the left, Spec Ops to the right; the hell had she stumbled into?

A question she addressed to the first guy who looked like he was in charge – Jorg.

One quick explanation later, Adder was much less confused and that much more desperate to get off the boarding shuttle. Her boot was already halfway in the airlock when she heard the tell-tale hiss of clamps disengaging. A glance through the viewport told her everything she needed to know, and her face fell like the One Sith under the weight of their own greed.

She sighed down at her dirty hands, wiping them off the best she could.

Two minutes later found her gripping the steering stick and looking none too happy about it. Another two minutes, and the tinker was settling into her other element. Space ceased flowing around her and began flowing with her. Her body molded with the ship, its movements a seamless extension of her own.

Adder closed her eyes and let out a breath of relief.

“Boys and girls, this is your pilot speaking,” she said as she flipped on the comms. “ETA is ten minutes ‘till we’re in range. Hold onto your seats and pray to your gods if you have any, ‘cause afterwards is when the fun begins.”

The response from the First Order seemed to be mixed, as they received a signal from one ship and then extreme long range fire from a large portion.

"Ma'am, the Resolute is taking fire." The sensor officer reported. Alexandra turned and stepped towards her.

"Damage Report." She ordered.

"Moderate shield damage, nothing got through. They are firing from extreme range and caught her as she shifted position with the fleet. Nothing was able to concentrate on any single point of their shields."

"Good. Return fire, focus long range fire on that Darr Itah and close the distance. Launch all attack craft and send them after Admiral Rausgeber. He was nice enough to bloviate, let's blow him out of our space. Have the To-Vhin mask our K-Wings on approach, one third at a time. General attack pattern for the other squadrons."

Lexi received an affirmative, and her ships began to push towards Carlyle and Cyrus's ships. The Liberator, Lexi's flagship, opened up with it's long range firepower, while the rest of her ships did the same. All focused on Cyrus's Darr Itah as they closed. The To-Vhin and K-Wings launched at the same time, three To-Vhin for each squadron of six K-Wings. The To-Vhin were utilizing their sensor scrambler array in hide mode, keeping the K-Wings and themselves invisible to enemy sensors. The other fighters launched and honing in on Carlyle's ships were in complete formations on their own vector, to not let on to where the To-Vhin and K-Wings were coming in from. The K-Wings would come in three waves, each a few seconds apart. They would come to visual range, and the hide mode would drop before the K-Wings dropped their Shipbusters on the FIV Brawl. Once they made their pass, they would get hidden again and return towards the fleet for rearming.

The other fighters, X-Wings, A-Wings, Knights, and D-Wings, would home in on the FIV Riot and Storm. The Interceptors and Space Superiority fighters screening the D-Wing bombers, then all would unload on the ships.

Actions
1) The ships of the fleet return long range fire on the Darr Itah, then begin to close. The Corvettes are out front, acting as screens for the larger ships. The Resolute and Liberator are at the port and starboard flanks of the fleet to return fire. The Phetar and the Firewall are behind these lines. [member="Cyrus"]
2) The To-Vhin and K-Wings are playing peek-a-boo bomb on the FIV Brawl. Hidden from sensors until they get to visual range, then dropping ordinance and getting out. Coming in three waves. (1st wave hitting next post, 2nd wave hitting the post after, 3rd wave hitting the post after that)
3) The rest of Lexi's fighters are focusing on Riot and Storm, using standard fighter tactics to hit the ships.

Edited to reflect the fighters having to move around the anomaly.

The great guns of the Malice kicked off a torrent of fire from both sides. At the extreme distances involved, the shooting was mostly for show, ranging shots and data acquisition. The Malice benefited tremendously from it's oversized engines at this range, able to juke about like a cruiser and present its narrow dagger face to most shots. What damage did occur was mostly absorbed on the shields. While Cyrus observed the general exchange with a passing interested, he focused on the larger picture. Already a solution to the current puzzle was forming in his mind.

Tactical maneuvering fell to Commodore Vayyrel, who took charge with her usual decisiveness.

"The enemy is targeting the Firebrand with warheads. We'll be their escort. Take us in close enough to provide cover, we know how these weapons work. Deploy our grav generators in an arc in front, when we see anomalies from the warheads passing through, open fire as directed. That should neutralize the missile bus before they can launch their payloads."

At the current range, it was a tough call as to who had the advantage. The Alliance had more long range guns among all their ships in total, but the Malice alone could almost match it. If the enemy fleet carrier decided to get into a shooting match with the 3rd most heavily armed ship in the galaxy, that wasn't likely to be a fair exchange. The difference would come down to who could use their escort components more effectively.

"Close the formation up. We'll take center, covering for the Firebrand and with the Providence acting as our shield. Escort corvettes fill the gaps between the destroyers and focus on being a hard target. Remaining corvettes and frigates will form Action Group Aurek under Admiral Rausgeber."

Still trading fire with the enemy ships, the Malice moved steadily in towards the anomaly, keep it's orientation facing forward. The maneuver would make actual forward progress slow, but allowed it to keep all it's batteries unmasked and presenting as small a target as possible. Though the ship rocked with enemy fire and kicked back and forth as it maneuvered, Cyrus continued his orders without even an inkling of doubt.

"Take us in towards the anomaly, but attempt to maintain range with the enemy formation. The gravitational waves will disrupt warheads and strike craft. Orient the fleet towards the enemy and let the waves slingshot our smaller craft towards the enemy. We'll maintain a base of fire from here. Have strike craft form up and prepare to coordinate strikes with the frigates. Fighters will fly cover for Aurek, we can handle enemy attacks with Bastion."

Here Cyrus paused. There were still too many undetermined variables, too many factors he couldn't control. It remained to be seen how the Alliance forces would react to the off-axis arrival of Task Force Aesir, or how the Imperial Remnant officers felt taking orders from someone who had recently been their foe.

"Get me a tightbeam with Admiral Rausgeber. His specific orders right now are to maintain distance and harass, we don't need to get stuck in just yet, at least wait until Piett's cruisers can join up. Inform all ships that priority targets are the Trimaran Star Defenders, but don't waste shots on them if you're just going to scratch the paint."

Elsewhere, the fleet operated as a well oiled machine, individual operators making reports that led to high level decisions, mostly at the right places and the right time. A flight of K-Wing's shrouded by a signal scrambler were targeted with light suppressing fire to break up their formation and met by a squadron of fighters, rather than trying to burn through the jammer. The operators in charge of the Malice's gravity well projectors worked hand-in-hand with the technicians running Bastion to plot the trajectories of the deadly Volksgrenadier MIRVs and set up overlapping lanes of fire to destroy almost all of them before they could release their payloads.

Mukhatir corvettes, their maneuvering directed by the massive Command and Control suite from the Darr Itah flitted in between the larger vessels, picking up the slack where organic defensive systems failed. Meanwhile the incredibly torrent of long range fire, equivalent to nearly the entirety of that from Therapy Command, from the Darr Itah continued unabated, targeted on the Resolute.

Probe and Track on the other hand, had shifted from general sensor management to focused scans of the unknown vessels that had jumped in below the fleet. Even as they detected the firing of a Proton Cannon from a corvette, they were more surprised to pick up highly irregular shield arrays, of currently unknown capability. It was just concerning enough that Cyrus was prompted to change the orders for Piett's cruisers to engage them at close range.

Watching the impressive fire coming from the Malice, Aran's forces were well out of range for most of their weapons, but he continued to have the Subjugator fire her turbo lasers towards the fleet of [member="Alexandra Morrow"]. Still in formation with Grand Admiral Tregessar's Dar Ithah, anything coming towards it would not only have to deal with the impressive weapons of the Malice but with Task Force 191 as well. This would make assaulting the battlecruiser that much harder. Aran stood calmly next to Commander Halsey, looking out at the Alliance fleet in front of them.
"Commander keep the Corvettes close to the Malice I want them to keep their point defense weapons near it for support. I want our weapons and those of the other cruiser to focus on the nearby hostile fleet's picket ships. I want them down so we can start sending troopers over to disable them."
"Aye aye Captain. "Weps" focus fire on the picket ships of nearby Alliance fleet. Comms send orders to the Arrestor to focus fire on our target."
"Comms aye Commander."
"Focusing fire on the Picket ships Commander. Weapon Batteries, Weapons Control, open fire all Turbo lasers towards the nearest fleet's picket ships."
The weapon battery commanders sent back to "Weps" the affirmative. The hull of the Subjugator shook as the turbo lasers fired out towards the picket ships. Aran didn't want to waste his missile complement just yet as they would just be picked out of the sky by the picket ships so for now it would just be turbo lasers, and the ion cannons once they were closer. After the picket ships were taken care of though, that is when he would use his missiles but again those would have to wait. Right now priority was defense of the Fleet Commander and the picket ships of the Alliance fleet.
All three Anti Starfighter Corvettes have formed around the Malice, while the Subjugator and the Arrestor are firing turbo lasers at the picket ships of Morrow's fleet, though at long range so minimal damage would be sustained at best, most would just miss at this range.

"Sir! Long Range Missile have been detected going for the Firebrand!" Lieutenant Praxon cried, whipping around to face the Rear Admiral. Cardan paled slightly "Take Evasive Action! Get us next to the Firebrand and activate the point defense laser array! Use us as a damned shield if you have to! We musn't lose the Firebrand!" He barked. Loud klaxons rang as the IRV Relic quickly dived till they were next to the Conqueror-class Star Destroyer IRV Firebrand. As the unknown long-range stealth missile came into range, rapid blasts from their point defense emplacements dispatched them quickly. But there were still torpedos heading right towards them.

"BRACE FOR IMPACT!" Rear Admiral Cardan yelled, his eyes widening at the proton torpedos that zoomed towards the Relic. More than half of them detonated on the fore shields of the Munificent-class Star Frigate, while the rest spilled over and impacted with the shields of the Firebrand. Gromm forced himself from the ground, the shockwave had sent him tumbling out of his command chair. "Very well, then! Target the ANS Resolute and fire all turbolasers, pierce their shields!" The man roared. The dozens of turbolasers on the Relic fired towards its intended target, especially the heavy turbolaser cannons mounted on the prow of the ship.

Captain Keikodi watched when the Single Reactor Blast was harmlessly absorbed by the ANS Resolute's deflector shields. "Report" He murmured to his bridge crew; "All reactors have charged, Captain. We are ready to fire at will." An ensign called out from the crewpits of the bridge. Keikodi turned back towards the bridge viewports and pondered "Yes...Re-target that Trimiran-class Star Defender...Full Power Ignition." He ordered.

The gunnery crew charged up the weapon with the usual twisting of knobs, flipping of levers, and pressing of switches. The technicians looked for the signal from the Chief Gunnery Officer and received it. For the second time in that battle, tributary beams blasted down their shafts but this time they were brighter in both light and color as they did so, combining in groups of eight until they converged on the concave dish which was miraculously untouched, funneling into an invisible force-field until a beam, a beam brighter than anything the Alliance, or the Coalition for that matter, had ever seen emanating from this class of Star Destroyer. This was the full power of the Imperial Navy, the wrath of the Emperor, launching its way at speeds faster than any fighter towards the ANS Resolute.

- BATTLE MEDITATION ACTIVATED -

"Damage report"

"Shields are holding, nothing got through, moderate damage" Carmen reported.

"All dumb-fired long-range units, fire on the Darr Itah's engines; the MIRVs will still be fired on the concave dish. All other assault concussion missile launchers must switch to the regular assault concussion missiles: also turn around so that our aft points in the direction of Voidstalker and Morrow"

In an attempt to move forward towards the enemy battlefleets and to prevent them from being outflanked, the gravitational anomaly somehow placed Therapy Command within standard range of both the main escort screen, as commanded by [member="Carlyle Rausgeber"] (but out of standard range of the enemy battlecruisers) and the Battle Group Aesir, which had been positioned off-axis. And also the fleet needed a rather wide turn radius to accomplish this (even with Julie using battle meditation to make the pilots somehow able to pilot such big ships on her level). There was only one explanation for this: gravitational slingshot effects - on both sides. Said gravitational slingshot effects only allowed minimal damage to be dealt to the fighter screen, especially given the long range at which the flechettes were fired and slingshot effects implying that most of the flechettes would be redirected, and that, by conservation of energy, there would be a phase of acceleration as the approach is made towards the anomaly and slowing down afterward, that is, after the point of closest approach has been reached. But now the Darr Itah closed the distance towards the Firebrand, so there is a risk that some of the long-range MIRV fire may not connect. By now, however, Therapy Command got closer to the enemy Darr Itah so the fire would be more effective this time around. With the Vengeance for Kaeshana and the Chandrila Hostages facing said Darr Itah, by virtue of it having to be facing the target to fire its main long-range battery (and hence on Cathul's starboard), unlike the Lothals, who had turreted weapons, and, all in all, delivering the same volume of long-ranged fire on the Darr Itah. Nevertheless the last volley still managed to deal some shield damage to the Relic, rather than to the concave dish.

"Open a channel to Bryce, Jacen and especially Alexandra"

"Roger, roger, channel open"

"Voidstalker, Morrow, Bantam, Dyre, it appears that the anomaly put Therapy Command within range from Battle Group Aesir on our port and with Carlyle to our starboard; we would have been outflanked otherwise. Also, launching fighters would be more effective if we simultaneously do so, and aim for the enemy anti-starfighter ships: we are engaging Battle Group Aesir" she told her fellow commanders over the command channel.

"Trench batteries, fire on the picket corvettes: we have to soften up the anti-starfighter defenses, dorsal batteries, fire on the White Base"

"Tax Return, Moenia, Otoh Sancture, Spinnaker, target Battle Group Aesir's anti-starfighter corvettes; Vengeance for Kaeshana, Chandrila Hostages, use your standard-ranged dumb-fired weapons to target the White Base!"

"Captain, the missiles are switched to regular assault concussion missiles" the chief gunnery officer told Carmen.

"Regular missile units, fire missiles on the White Base's command tower!"

With that said, 240 turbolaser shots would be fired at various picket corvettes from the carrier, belonging to either [member="Carlyle Rausgeber"] or even [member="Suravi Teigra"], with the shots fired from the starboard trench batteries being generally aimed at Carlyle's picket corvettes and the shots from port trench batteries being fired on Battle Group Aesir's picket corvettes, with five corvettes being targeted from each battlefleet; the 70 cluster missiles from the two Nobles were fired, alongside 23 extra assault concussion missiles, and the volume of fire of nearly 500 turbolasers, on the White Base. Meanwhile, the Tax Return fired on the Mau with the majority of its standard-ranged weapons, and the other three frigates shared their fire between the other two anti-starfighter corvettes in Battle Group Aesir: the Aigle and the Pasko. In the scuffle, Cathul has almost forgotten that there were attack craft to be while seeing on the tactical display [member="Alexandra Morrow"] using her own attack craft to take potshots at the enemy escort screen. The GA had the advantage in terms of attack craft; if Cathul could tie up a significant portion of the enemy attack craft, the enemy would be vulnerable so long as they stayed out of the enemy battlecruisers.

"We want four squadrons of fighters accompanying the K-Wings, and four more on the D-Wings. Once your payload has been dropped, return back to the fleet: we will draw in the enemy attack craft"

"Targets?"

"Two K-Wing squadrons on the Palleon, two K-Wing squadrons on the Daala, two D-Wing squadrons on the Rose and two D-Wing squadrons on the Lisa, but stay out from the Mukhtiars or the White Base"

Hopefully, with the point-defense being distracted by the outbound missile fire, the fighters would only face limited resistance; six squadrons were left behind as a fighter screen for the rest of the fleet, and the two groups of K-Wings would be approaching on different vectors, dropping heavy Deathball proton bombs on their respective targets, the Palleon and the Daala, the blast radius of said Deathballs would be a lot larger than on normal proton bombs. And even the medium Deathballs mounted on the D-Wings would still be able to deal quite a bit of damage. If that plan worked, the Empire-class frigates would be in for a world of pain, and same would go for the transport ships being targeted. But they had to return to the fleet quickly once they dropped their ordnance. Then they would, after the bombs have been dropped, return to the fleet, hopefully prompting General Teigra to at least give chase to the elements that conducted the bombing run.

I swear. This is some kind of suicide squad.

His helmeted head lightly banged the headrest of his seat just once as he was in disbelief after taking another look of the composure of the squad he belonged to. They were taking a girl that was acting rather silly when she was taking selfies of herself in front of everyone. While he did had a huge difference with every soldier on board, he bet his pride that they were all thinking the same thing as he did.

Who ticked off the higher ups? Are they mad and incompetent?

He would be surprised if he were to survive this mission at all. They were, after all, going to board enemy ship and be most likely outgunned and outnumbered.

"Major, out of curiosity, what value does the four eye girl have to this team? I don't think taking pictures is gonna favor our odds at all," the clone addressed to Jorg in the encrypted comm channel that the boarding party all shared. He, like Jorg, was given little to no information at all in what he was to do. Another reason to give Canal on why he thought the grand ranking officers acted like fools before his eyes.

He could then feel the shuttle lifting off from its stationary post and beginning to leave the hangar bay. Now all Canal had to do was put his trust in this pilot and hope she wouldn't get them all killed.

Marcus sat himself down next to [member="Canal"], glancing over to the soldier and giving him a curt nod before returning his attention to his visor's screen. It was not until he heard Canal's voice echoing through the comm system that he let his attention shift back to those who surrounded him. As the man spoke his eyes fell to the woman that Canal had spoke of. She was certainly no soldier, even more than that he was not even sure if she was a Jedi. After Canal finished speaking the Sergeant keyed into the same frequency, speaking his own piece.

"Human shield?" He questioned in a mocking tone.

He felt the ship begin to lift from it's hanger and begin it's departure. An exhale escaped him before he spoke over the comm channel once again. "Hope our pilot isn't green..." He muttered, more to himself than to his actual squad.

The bright green beam pulsed with light as it lanced across the expanse of space. Jacen held one palm up to cover his eyes.

“Calm down Captain,” Jacen spoke softly, heading off the Sullustan’s concerns. “That’s not a superlaser, it’s more a psychological weapon than anything else. The Jedi Marshal projected a calming influence over those on the bridge. “Tell me Captain, how do we use the anomaly to our advantage? A slingshot?”

The sullustan looked at him as if he was an idiot. “A slingshot is a manoeuvre enacted within a multi body system. This is a fluctuating field. Fundamentally a slingshot involves borrowing the kinetic energy from a orbital body in motion. That doesn’t work here. If we accelerate into the gravitational potential we’ll lose everything we gain coming out the other side.”

Jacen smiled. He knew he’d spoken out of turn, but he wanted the sullustan to think with logic rather than emotion. “So heading into the well…”

“Potentially puts you into a gravitational trap. Whilst we’re outside the well we have gravitational potential we can use as we please. It’s like being uphill of an invader,” Captain Dundo replied. “We’ll stick to the outskirts and hit those frigates. I want the Brawl and Absolution just ahead of us on either flank, Peregines screen for enemy fights from the flanks and push our squadrons ahead to protect boarding parties commanded by @Jorg.”

Jacen moved to the comms. “Morrow, Thuku, be advised not to go too close to the gravitational potential well. I am reliably informed that there is no such thing as a slingshot manoeuvre here.” Indeed Cyrus would soon find that every km/s borrows from the gravitational potential of the anomaly was stolen back on the other side. There was no kinetic energy from a moving body to steal here. Morrow we’re moving ahead to engage up close, as we close reassign your fighters and ours will come in as a second wave on those vulnerable frigates.”

“Give me a full volley of Long Range Ion torpedoes on that proton cannon, let’s test how robust it is,” Captain Dundo called.

“So if they’re closer to the well, we’re effectively diving towards them?” Jacen asked. He snatched out a hand to grasp a nearby console. The anomaly was making the ride particularly bumpy now. Soon this melee would be bedlam.

“I suppose so?”

“Excellent.”
