Is a Dev Thread required for power armor, such as to increase strength and other stuff? I'm curious as I want to try my hand at this but I didn't see anything in the restricted items or banned items section.

It isn't a strict requirement, but it is something factory judges will ask for a development thread for. You can find a list of things which will need a development thread here, in the Standardization of Development Threads list, located pinned in the Factory Discussion, along with this Q&A.

Keep in mind that you may be asked for development threads that may not be on either the Restricted materials list or that list - the list has been created to give the general population an idea of what we are looking for as far as submissions which may need development to get by.

As well, from my brief time in the Factory, I can tell you subs (especially ones that aren't a nightmare to judge or only need a little work) can sometimes get shuffled and forgotten. A bump to the thread tagging the Judge can be useful to remind them, or a PM to the Judge directly.

It depends on the material, but most bodygloves don't weigh much.

I would suggest waiting for the movie to be released, as it might be explained in the movie whom might have produced it. You can make a similar style of droid, sure, but that specific droid might not even be a droid created by a company.
