OOC Some Like it Hoth | GA Invasion of FO Hoth & Bespin Hex

Tagging you all in the OOC as well, just so stuff doesn't get missed in the hectic pace of the invasion.
Over the course of several posts, Team Smash and Draco Vereen have rigged and triggered two separate, synced avalanches heading for the trenches and the walker pillboxes set up in front of Veers.

Let's all have fun with this guys. It's an ice planet, after all. Gotta roll around in the snow a bit. :D

While I always appreciate a visual aid, I’m afraid this has caused some confusion amongst some members of my faction. Hopefully, we can clear this up before we begin posting again. lol

What you’ve used was sourced from a fanon SWRPG site for their use as a scenario, which is great - but not entirely accurate to what’s been written or described on Wookiepedia or in the Cross-Section: Locations Source Book. (Image One, Image Two.) The image above only lists one hangar when in truth there’s two - one at the North where the defensive trenches and the AT-AT Wall / Pillboxes would be, and the larger South entrance where those GR-75 Medium Transports slipped out of the base from during SW EP. V: Empire Strikes Back.

While there are some positional discrepancies, we’re more than fine rolling around in the snow.

That being said, from the map you’ve provided, the more effective snowslide would come from Draco’s units - rather than those made by Team Smash. I’m saying this here, as it might’ve been missed when mentioned in the thread before the charges were detonated. The AT-AT’s are laying down, crouching, or what have you in the snow, forming a semicircle around the North Entrance, essentially creating a nice little Snowfort. Lol

What I can see happening, as there really aren’t any Mountain’s within range of the North entrance that I can see that would cause us all to be swept underfoot, would be flooding the wastes on the Alliance side of the AT-AT wall and smashing against the exterior of the improvised pillboxes. Possibly knocking a few over, if they get rocked by either artillery fire or something of the sort. Combined with Draco’s avalanche, that’d more or less bury the Main / North entrance in some snow.

As I’m trying to go by the oddly angled image linked with the cutaway of Echo Base, I think it’d be more than fair to say that the trenches above the North Entrance would be buried beneath the avalanche. Significant amounts of snow would be spilling into the covered surface turbolifts, and probably knocking over those down in the trenches before the Blast Doors - maybe even caving in a section of the parted doors making our tactical withdrawal much more challenging.

Does that sound groovy to you?

I'm super late to the invasion, I was wrapping up some private threads. Is there still room for fleeting, or will I have to go through 20 minutes worth of fleeting posts just to understand when to join in?

Your thing is mightily appreciated, Ex-Empress of the Sith. :p

[member="Torian Pierce"]

So with the map cleaned up, it's much easier to see what's going on, and it's clear that there are mountains within range of the North entrance. Right above/behind it, actually.

Wouldn't you agree?

[member="Aver Brand"], Some of your tags are not showing up in my notification list. I didn't get the last two posts from you and had to go search for them to read through our posts.

I am not sure if you are copying and pasting our names into the posts in the invasion, but doing that multiple times will make the notification system not see it, and show that you tagged us, when we aren't getting it. Just letting you and everyone on your side know so we don't miss any.

Otherwise, great posts, and great idea with the avalanche.

I cannot speak for Aver, but I believe tags have been wonky in general. For instance, I haven't been getting various notifications from people on both sides of the invasion. Tends to happen in big threads like invasions.

Glad you liked the avalanche. :)

[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"], The reason I tagged Aver is because I didn't get her tags specifically. I have literally gotten everyone else's tags, but hers. lol.

If it were happening with a few people then I would have called it on the wonky system. But just one person's tag not working? And of course, this is assuming that its the post and not the system itself, and I don't fault anyone. I also wanted to let her know so if she does post again, and I happen to miss it, then she knows why.

Thanks for the update on your end though. I have heard of others in the FO not getting tags either.

[member="Anora Shaw"]

Yeah I haven't been getting some tags as well – as [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] said, it tends to happen in big threads like invasions.
I'm aware of the issues that come with copy-pasting tags, so I don't do it. The @mention system just tends to nope out when a lot of people are tagging a lot of other people at once.

Yeah, we figured the avalanche could provide some fun opportunities. :D

Just drop in like "Hi guys, I stopped for pizza along the way. Did I miss anything?"

[member="Aver Brand"] - Normally I would agree due to a lack of established material on various other Systems, but with the visuals and direct perspective provided by the SW: Battlefront Games - there really aren't any mountains near Echo Base / Outpost Veers. Plateau's, Ridges, Slopes - Sure- but nothing as to what would be considered a mountain.

However, like I said, we're rolling with it and going to make it fun. (EDIT: I want to make it clear that I'm not being unreasonable, and doing everything in my power to convey that - however with the plethora of maps and visuals provided by multiple canon sources, including those I've linked previous, there isn't much we can do to feasibly do to justify the widespread destruction no doubt intended by the avalanche.)

Please feel free to bring up any concerns with me regarding any issues with our subsequent posts, and we'll see what we can do about fixing it. :)

Hey everyone,

As some may know or may have noticed I have not been able to post very much in this invasion or keep up with all the relevant writers, both FO and GA, and the actions they are taking in the vicinity of, or directly involving and requiring a response from, my character. I would like to sincerely apologise to anyone that this has inconvenienced ([member="HK-36"] likely in particular, don't worry at all about not waiting for me to reply and react), especially so as until now I have not said anything on the matter and it is not fair to keep any writer not only unduly waiting on me but also without knowing why, or when I might next respond.

As a result of my study schedule and the demands it is currently placing on me, in addition to the resurgence of several long running personal issues, I have been unable to put the time and effort required to keep up with, reply to, and otherwise engage properly and promptly with the actions of all relevant characters/writers and the great stories being written on Hoth.

As such, I have decided that I need to step back from most direct interactions and in any way driving the narrative as I will not be able to respond fast enough to be fair to anyone.

I would very much like to continue posting when I am able to (likely only every few days), in a reduced and indirect reactive based fashion to provide whatever flavour I can to the great narrative being woven without burdening other writers with waiting for a response from me. I would hope to have my character react and move with the flow of the story and everything that would affect them (including hopefully reacting to all actions involving me up to this point first), and provide I hope an engaging and interesting perspective without taking action against player characters or attempting to affect the course of the narrative. This will involve primarily my writing about Pharazon and his NPCs being buried in the avalanche and the consequences of this, as well any further acts that I would need to respond to. I would prefer to keep this as contained as possible, but will react to anything that would still effect my PC even while buried or any direct action made toward/against me by any PC, though the response will not be combative and will sadly not be fast.

I again offer my apologies for this and any inconveniences made by either my slow posting or how I will be continuing in the thread. As always, feel free to ask any questions or raise any concerns about anything in my posts here or over PM, as the last thing I want to do now is cause more problems for anyone.

So I'm super confused guys.

Is the avalanche filling the trenches or just the edges?

Can anyone clarify? Also as a caveat yes I understand we have maps, but I like the way it's going. The avalanche was actually a neat idea that I was not expecting whatsoever.

If anyone need's edits from me as usual PM me.

I'll be waiting for a reply before my next post.
