OOC Some Like it Hoth | GA Invasion of FO Hoth & Bespin Hex

The Iron Lord Protector (Neutral Good)
I mentioned this to [member="Pharazon Draken"] in my post but sometimes I don't see the notification even if you properly tag me, it might be something to do with me having a "-" in the name, it might be something to do with the notification system bugging out as a whole, but just remember to type out my name with @ every time to minimize the chances.

Because I'm working 6-7 days a week now with late shifts it's usually after midnight I get around to posting so I don't really read through every post I missed when I was at work, so if I wasn't notified about a reply then I'll probably miss it in my post. If that happens just poke me in this thread, a PM, or Discord, send me a link to your post, and I'll edit a section for you in.

Hey guys! I should have a post up today, I got dragged into a few meetings this morning but my weekend starts this afternoon.

Also - if we could try to get a post order going, I've noticed a few times people are posting twice before I've been given the opportunity to respond. Thanks!

We're not directly interacting yet, but since this is our home turf, we should have the chance to respond to things your characters are doing that are directly affecting our base, just as you would expect that same courtesy from us.

As far as whom - that was the purpose of the tags.

I understand you want to respond to events in the base, but invasions don't work as a dungeon run with a DM, unless planned out with the writers among themselves or negotiated prior to the invasion.

Unless there is direct opposition or engagement, it isn't exactly fair to expect the other side to wait in line for the home team. Otherwise large factions with tons of activity and a lot of writers in play would have a distinct disadvantage against invading smaller factions with less activity.

After all, all the smaller faction has to do is say: "Yeah, you are gonna have to wait with your story, until I have decided your influence for you, because this is our territory and we decide what happens here."

Not even a major faction has complete and utter control over every single detail that transpires on their planets.

My advice is... just fight. Provide real, genuine opposition and engage people, because otherwise what's the real point of all of this.

With all due respect, some of us have other commitments, such as work, school and familial activities. I can't speak for Val, but I can speak as a writer, that I believe it is courtesy in such an engagement as this, not to rush with posts without adequate time to reply in due course. That is regardless of it being a direct or in-direct interaction. Otherwise you may as well be punishing fellow writers for simply being unable to reply for a day or two.

No, I fully agree with you.

Courtesy in an invasion is very important and I agree that it's only reasonable to give people time to respond, if they got genuine things going on in real life. But that isn't the crux of this issue as far as I understand.

It's not that people don't want to wait on the opposition... it's that they don't think it's reasonable for someone to DM their progress, when they aren't engaging them in the invasion itself.

I can understand when people feel overwhelmed if the opposition is posting back to back too quickly for something they're interacting with to reply. If there are examples of this, let the GA know and they will talk to their members about it.

Everyone on Hoth, Our ship is gonna crash around Veers, looking for someone who can spare an AT-AT or other heavy machine we can crash into. Any takers?
So with everyone tied up we will be crashing into a walker that is already fallen so far, there had been mention of a few so this should not directly attack anyone. Now when we snow down us poor bad of dancers would really appreciate any help we can get exiting the war zone and all :D

Acting as a DM has worked in some Invasions before. Coruscant comes to mind but it burned the guy out hard. If someone wants to fulfil that role they can, but they should check the opposition is alright working together in that way.

Full-on DMing usually just comes off as one side being super petty and controlling, trying to via for every advantage they can grab. Unless your character is directly controlling a specific unit being engaged... It's usually best to just let the other side have the freedom to engage background NPCs as they see fit.

Also, in most cases (that I have seen anyway) one or more veteran writers end up targeting the person doing the DMing and find a way to turn their actions against then anyway.

I have spoken to our team. Should your posting indicate direct interaction with our writers, I will request that they wait for you before posting. The posting order will be as follows. Us, then you. And so on. We will not be establishing an internal post order for GA as we prefer fluidity. Let me know if this is suitable.
