[OOC] The Raven Who Stole Christmas [Red Raven - Black Suns - Barab I]

*sighs* Guys, this is ridiculous.

1. You guys could have knocked out the mining lasers with fighters and bombers and forced us through the main entrance. You didn't.
2. You let us drill down to your location knowing full well you had a massive lake of toxic water sitting above your heads. You still did nothing. (ergo you are also ok with the drills and their capacity to drill to you. so you can't complain now. Note: i am unfamiliar with their capabilities so was simply playing along with what was written)
3. We have already admitted you have time to escape the rising flood waters if you move quickly. You're not moving at all. Instead you're having wet t-shirt contests.
4. Mining drills are not military capital ships
5. The Black Suns demanded the no fleeting thing, not RR.
6. In what case of flooding anywhere has sewers saved a city? lol
7. The "city" is merely an expression and also said to be nothing more than office buildings in the same above mentioned quote.

Edit:
8. We have warned you many times what was coming. You chose to make fun of the tactic instead till it was explained to be a credible threat.

Edit again:
9. We have been posting this operation for over a day over many posts. So you can't say you didn't see it coming. And it has been earned. Not just poof you're all now drowning.

Guys, relax, chill, we're here to have fun (and yes I am talking to both sides of people).

If you would like to discuss the invasion, I am open to private messages where we can talk. I'm not just a faction leader for Ravens, my job is also to be a mediator for my faction, so just know I'm fine with anyone saying their two cents if you shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

Actually I'm going to play devils advocate on something else now. The Y-8 Mining Vessel is designed to mine in lucrative asteroid fields. You have thirty of them from my count. Thirty of them firing from space, unless I'm mistaken, and firing through both these oceans of toxic water as well as through the planets surface. Once again these are vessels built to mine asteroids up close and personal as far as I can tell. How do you figure that they're going to punch a hole in the surface of a planet from space?

*Raises hand*

A race that has lived its entire history on a planet that drops oceans on the surface, and one who also made an underground city, would have pump systems in place to deal with that eventuality.

Also, just gonna say this, if y'all are gonna try and push the Wheaton's Law violations on the people dealing with the flooding rather than look at the people who are trying to push for an insta-win by not even fighting and handwaving a victory... Actually, not much else to say lol

Anyways, TL;DR, pumps are thing, large pump systems are a thing, and when you couple them with a race that has dealt with falling oceans their entire history, it's a pretty simple assessment to make.

Also, Mandos give no karks. We brought our own oxygen. Come get us.

Hey guys (and I'm speaking for myself here) I just wanted to say that my original post about the lasers and flooding was never meant to turn into a huge argument. I just wanted to let people know what the Ravens had done and the damage it had caused.

I was happy to see you guys were posting IC reactions to it. And I appreciated the writing that went into describing the flooding and the archaic pumps and sewer systems.

So basically, what Lysle said. We should let faction leaders hash this stuff out and keep focused on just having fun in the thread.

  • It was agreed by both sides no capital ships, and with that, no fleeting. We didn't think fleeting meant also star fighting, as it was assumed fleeting is the act of capital warships brawling it out and not small fighters. I am sorry for any inconvenience this has brought you.
  • It is strictly PVP, but of course for storyline purposes, we still have to achieve our objectives.
  • For a race that has lived underground, I don't think they ever had someone mine giant holes into their city before. These holes would unleash large quantities of water the pump systems would not be used too.
  • We're not going for an insta-win, and I have spoken to my people about the floods. Our objective remains the same; capture.
  • Now my toast is cold because of you guys.. :(

Mhmm. Cities used to floods being prepared...mhmm. I got one word for ya. Katrina. You'd think a city could pump out the water of a couple holes in the levees. I mean dang, they are used to massive floods by now aren't they? That is the scale that is here. I apologize, I don't mean to be rude. But you guys failed to see the danger, and now your calling foul when the crap is hitting the fan. And you're calling us bad RPers?

And as for your oxygen tanks. That's fine. I'll wait outside where my supply is unlimited. How long you got in your tank?

And we didn't handwave a victory. You gave it to us on a silver platter when you ignored everything we did and didn't offer any resistance whatsoever.

Capital ships - I get the fleeting is background, but as it was assumed no fleeting, no one had any real intentions of doing starfighter anything as two objectives were underground and there were no fleets to control. Background noise is background noise, but if I'd known you guys were bringing a fethton of mining cap ships, I would have brought my bes'uliik starfighter.

PvP - I get that. Even Objective based invasions are PvP to an extent. This is not an issue to my mind.

Pumps - Yeah, but worst case scenarios are a thing. Underground like that, you'd have to be pumping water constantly. Condensation and aquifers are a reality. An extensive pump system is, in all blatant honesty, a highly plausible reality.

Capture - Hard to capture something that's underwater.

Toast - My apologies. If I were closer, I'd make you new toast.

[member="Ice"] - As a New Orleaner, I can flatly state that the levees were not built appropriately. New Orleans up until Katrina was very corrupt and even after Katrina there were reports of contractors cutting corners. Katrina is an example of construction companies cutting corners to make money and the politicians turning a blind eye.

This dispute has been handled. I've contacted Strider, and my Ravens about this. Manipulation of the rules set forth is a grossly inaccurate word of what has occurred here. It was a misunderstanding between people, and it had little to do with rules. Mining ships were forced to be used as the only other route we had was blowing our way in, and we didn't want to cave in the roof on an underground city.

Simple.
  1. It flooded, momentarily, the pumps are now working through the water.
  2. What water continues to come through the hole will be pumped away
  3. Invasion will continue as planned; Ravens attempt to capture objectives.

Yes sir.

And I apologize if I came across as insulting. Twas not my intent. I was only meaning to point out our reasons for our actions. But again, I'm sorry to those that were offended.

So.... I have a new question. Like, legit, I am curious here.

If the water is cascading that hard down the openings you made...

How are y'all getting into the city without getting swept away and plummetting to your death? o_O

I'd like to know how big this cavern is. because i don't understand why a civilization would build a building underground, and then hollow out a ginormous space above it, which would make the whole thing structurally weak. I ask because there are apparently snipers that can see the entire layout so we basically stand zero chance....
