Invasion Rains of Contruumere [One Sith vs GR Invasion of Contruum]

Objective A: The Killing Fields

She stalked around him in Soresu. He closed his eyes. The attack was going to happen. He knew it was going to happen. She could not resist the thrill of battle; the potential of death. Mayhem was her mistress, and discord her lover. It was disheartening. To see someone with such potential, so mired in darkness. It actually caused him to feel a bit of pain inside. He felt horrible for her.

"Battle is not joy. Battle is travesty eternal. Death is not a noble deed. Thou shouldst see beyond that, and beyond the nature forced upon thou. Be more."

He twirled his blade around so it was ready for the strike he knew was coming.

"Thou couldst be so much more."

Well, that theory didn't exactly work she sighed internally as the freezing effect just couldn't get through all that nothingness of the Vonduun crab. Time for Plan ... and she would need to leave that thought interrupted as her enemy attacked, trying to catch his blade in the spinning blade of her lightsaber. Funny thing about spinning was it created centrifugal force, and as Taeli had increased the speed of the spinning of her blades, that was going to be a lot of force exerted on her opponent's lightsaber blade, probably enough to just rip it from his hand if he wasn't ready for it.

Unfortunately, an amphistaff made its presence known and venom was sailing towards her. Not good at all ... until the Lunelle girl pulled on her legs with the Force, and rather than fight it, Taeli let the girl pull her to the ground and watched the venom sail right over her. Again, unfortunately, it meant her blades had to stop spinning momentarily and the girl was trying to stab her with some sort of Vong knife in her calf.

Rolling to avoid the knife, Taeli tried to pop back up to her feet.

The battle raged around them. The killing fields was more than the small patch of dirt BIx walked upon. A mass grave yard that spanned for miles. Rain began to fall over the heads of Bix and Barrien. If it fell all across the entire length, Bix did not know. What she did know it fell upon her.

What also she did know? She knew what she could feel. She felt the misery and pain of those around her. Through death and carnage the Bogan grew in each passing moment. With each moment she felt more empowered.

“Be more then who I am”, her words sounded as if she was insulted. “Typical karking Jedi chit. Always trying to change what they don’t fully understand”, it finely came. It was a blur of motion. It was aggressive and brutal. The crimson blade twirled around. It was a downward strike. A strike filled with the might of her rage. She was intrigued to see how well he could hold under the pressure of Force induced Rage.

"I'd be disappointed if we didn't make any noise, flygirl," Sanna responded, checking one last time to make sure her helmet's systems were operating correctly. "Been looking forward to it, too! Hopefully we'll have a good callsign by the end of this run. It's about time!" The green pilot gave the thumbs-up to the ground crew and flipped the two twi'leks' bird's repulsors into gear, gently lifting their craft off the hangar floor and scooting out of the airbase and into the skies.

"Whatcha wanna name our ship?" Sannika asked her gunner, then interrupted herself to announce everything was go over the squadron comms. "Rogue Three is up and away." Eleven other pilots confirmed their designations as well. It was to be as exhilarating an experience as ever, with new targets and a freshly new ship. Sounded like a party was at hand. And having a friend in the seat behind her did not seem like a bad deal either. Well, if we die, you can kill me," the veteran Rogue joked.

The squadron then formed up in groups of threes and made haste for the battlegrounds. "Straw Hat 'n' Co. calling in. Here's hoping you've got the AA squashed." If it was too heavy in concentration, this might be a short trip.

  • Zulia and forces west of the garrison

  • Firebreathers at the garrison, clearing out entrenched enemies

  • Yorik-vec assault cruisers making bombing runs over the battlefield

At the command of Zulia Kwaad, all twenty Rakamat lizards stamped their six feet and spread out, spanning over the basecamp that Zulia Kwaad set up on the west side.

“FIRE ON THE INFIDELS!” ordered the Master Shaper, flecks of spittle flying from her lips as the multicolored tendrils of her traditional headdress danced in the mountain winds.

With a piercing screech, the mighty Rakamat began firing Yaret-Kor plasma balls at the weakened Republic garrison that squatted atop the hillocks ahead. Like a fiery rain from the wastes of the Netherworld, the plasma balls fell from the sky, presumably bringing massive amounts of destruction to the structure. Any forces in its vicinity, whether friend or foe, would need to take cover against the storm of hellfire brought about by the Legion Yun’Do’s spiky siege beasts.

Meanwhile, the gleefully sadistic Commander Shai, barbed whip in hand, roared at the company of Firebreathers to pave their way to the garrison. Standing ten meters tall, the Vong leviathans crawled along on their long, spindly legs, moving in zig-zag patterns and spewing steady streams of gelatinous flame on anything in their path. The hides of the towering creatures were thick enough to withstand enemy fire from [member="Ali Hadrix"] soldiers scurrying around on the outside of the garrison.

Soon the Fire Breathers had amassed around the garrison, surrounding it from all directions, and began to work on clearing out entrenched enemy positions around it, working to flush soldiers out, sending them running lest they be burned to death. As the Vong leviathans carved out their paths of destruction, ten Yorik-vec Assault cruisers roared through the air, passing over the battlefield with aims to further punish the garrison. Incidentally, Shurra had to stop and scratch her head in consternation with one clawed hand, as the skies over Contruum were so jam-packed with Republic gunships in such a small area, it was a wonder that there were not more mid-air collisions. From the dots that the Slayer could see in the distance, the deluge of ships would not be ceasing anytime soon.

With enemy forces worn down, and Rakamat lizards shelling with grievous abandon, it was only a matter of time before the garrison belonged to the One Sith. Commander Shai, one of Selvaris’ grittiest slayers, cared not for mercy or casualty. Today on Contruum, glory would be hers, and she would give no quarter to the infidels. If Shurra did not succeed in battle, she promised Zulia that she would willingly spend months hanging upside-down in the Embrace of Pain, so clearly the Vong Slayer would live up to her own and Zulia’s expectations..

Summary of Actions:

  • 20 Rakamat begin to shell the garrison

  • 20 Fire-breathers clearing out entrenched positions around the garrison, targeting the forces of [member="Ali Hadrix"]

Just as Nerius began to step in for a dual attack, the Force whispered a harsh warning to his mind. Glancing upward he saw a large skeleton coming his way...

Only to have his vision begin to cloud over. The attack was similar to the prior launched against him, yet will power wasn't forcing the effect away. Thus he began a defense based on sheer instinct; attacks that sought out ones mind, tended to have severeal necessities, one being an understanding of the species mind, or a dominant focus. Being that Ella began her attack just before she focused to jump away, he combined the logic of both requirements in the art of shifting his mind around.

It was the most painful transformation he had attempted, but he shifted the complex of neurological pathways until it was almost reverse what it had been beforehand. Afterward, he glanced upward, realizing he had dropped to his knees and was shouting out in agony. But luckily the bones had been thrown with the intent to hit a taller Ella - with such a small body on ones knees, the attack sailed past his head and landed some feet behind himself.

At this point, he called out in a halting voice, "Mullarus, get her!" He couldn't manage more, for he began healing the bruising done to his chest alongside the wounds to his leg. Combined with this was a need to relax a moment after doing something so drastic.

Hopefully he would never need to do something like that again!!

Her response was typical. Because he was a Jedi, he could know nothing of what she was. Because he was a Jedi, he could never understand her pain. Sith rarely understood that Jedi often felt the most pain of anyone in the galaxy, the loss of thousands of souls, and persevered to do good. To do what was right.

Well, some did at least.

Knowing her attack was coming had allowed him to prepare. He'd strengthened himself with the Force and lifted his blade around to catch her strike on one end where he could shear it away and keep it from hitting home. As much as he didn't want to fight her, and knew he had to, he certainly felt that he also needed to help her. She didn't want to hear the things that he said, most Sith didn't, but somewhere inside of everyone was a piece of rationality that could understand the truth if someone made an effort to open those hidden eyes.

"Ask yourself if I don't understand, why you don't seek to enlighten me, rather than slay me."

He switched to normal basic because it was easier to get through to someone who was in a rage than the speech he was used to.

Thankfully, he didn't accidentally crush Nerius. However, he missed the jedi, too. Mullarus re-ignited his lightsaber just in time to hear Nerius shout for him to "Get her".

Mullarus yelled a war cry as he Force Jumped through the air and landed close to the jedi woman, turning and beginning his assault with a flurry of Shii-Cho sweeps. The pile of half-decayed beast behind them began to fall apart as Mullarus attacked the jedi knight.

Rain assaulted the Jedi Knight, as she took up the high ground. Wind swept through her body, drenched by the cascading water that fell and surrounded them. Her feet qeulched in the mud, her hair and face dirtied by the floor. But the Force was her ally. It was why she still stood, ready to combat evil.

She watched as Mullarus Force Leaped into the air. Her instinct told her to tell him not to try it. But it was too late. He already lept into the air.

Holding her lightsaber held to the right, in a digagional hold, Ella stepped into the path of Mullarus as he landed. Parry. Parry. Parry. She engaged the Sith Acolyte in the Outer Defense, one of three rings taught in lightsaber combat.

Off the third parry, Ella stepped backwards to avoid the next hit, before running in with a stab to the stomach. As she stepped in, her face came inches away from Mullarus' own. Looking into his eyes, Ella tried to convey that she was sorry. That she didn't want to hurt him.

The missile distracted the Jedi, just enough for the Droid to bound forward twice, closing the gap rapidly with its prey nearing lightsaber range with the Jedi. Its mind raced with algorithms and calculations. How would it dismantle the Jedi in the most efficient, yet most painful manner?

As it approached the purple lightning flashed again from the Jedi’s hands, this time the droid was too close and the jedi too fast for it to be dodged. The droid, took the lightning full in the chest, halting its advance, dozens of the little phylactery scarabs falling from its body halting their repairs to the droid’s chassis. Smoke rose from the armor of the droid as its vocabulator emanated with the sound of agony despite it being impossible for the droid to feel such pain. Its grip on its lightsabers subsided as it dropped to the ground.

Writhing the droid dropped to its knees, glaring up at the Jedi worm so bold as to attack it. So bold to attempt to survive this encounter with it. Perhaps a different weapon the Jedi had not yet encountered. The red photoreceptor glaring at the Jedi, narrowed into a razor, the droid’s mouth opened and unleashed a torrent of electrical based heat energy at the Jedi.

Somewhere in the vastness of space the pair of Aquila Stealth Fighters swooped towards the orbital shipyards. Most stealth ships required use of the Force or Decades of experience to properly fly. Even with a great deal of training and practice with the Force I was barely able to fly the craft into the Orbital shipyards at Quiet Two.

Once landed in an empty hangar as far as I was aware, stealth went out the window. “Alright, two feet on a solid surface. Screw it. I am here to hurt something not sneak around. The only reason I stealth is to get to places where I can hurt something.” I said as I dropped to the deck, walking for the door to the hangar.

Aten came up behind me chuckling. “What are we gonna do? Hit all the fire alarms and wait for some Jedi to attack us?” He asked jokingly.

It’s a possibility. Let’s just get to the central control room and start a ruckus. That will attract the attention of someone who cares, preferably someone on their side not someone from our employers pissed because he turned off the gravity in the midst of their duel.” I replied, partly joking, mostly serious. “Where is the central control room by the way?

Aten looked at the readouts on his HUD, “Uh….” He started taking a look through the rough schematics we had. “I should probably drop some observers to find that.” He said, clicking the activation for the four little unarmed probes to begin zipping around the shipyard, scanning for the central control room.

Somewhere, off in the distance, far from where Adekos was, a scout trooper was smacked in the chest with a Verpine shatter rifle. He tumbled from his bike, which flew off without him and eventually crashed into the road. His single companion uttered a litany of profanity before steering his bike off the road and retreating into the forest. Their original mission had been to scout the road to make sure nothing came along it. This was all rendered unnecessary from the fact that artillery had been thrown on top of it and now there was an army of Yuuzhan-Vong blithely marching by.

So much for the surprise. The One Sith did prefer sledgehammers to scalpels and with the way this battle was going... There were only going to be more and more sledgehammers.

Once he returned to his designated drop zone, a lieutenant immediately began briefing Adekos. "The probe droids have reported in. There's an army in the mountains."

"Wow. Marvelous. Thrilling, really. Have they done anything?"

"They're just waiting, far as we can tell. They've got artillery pieces and aircraft under canopies."

"I suppose they thought that would hide them. Good for them. Have them transmit those coordinates to Commander Sinistra. She can have them shelled before they have a chance to muck anything up."

"Shall you and the lancers ride out, then?"

Adekos glanced behind him. Lined up in neat little rows was a battalion of lancer droids. Were cavalry mounted with lances a valid tactical practice? No, not really. But they made for great distractions. They could overwhelm an enemy position in minutes and leave them in dissary, which would make them equally susceptible to reinforcements and prevent them from responding adequately. Not a single one of these droids would be coming back, obviously. Cavalry charges like this were only good for distractions. Of course, all of that got thrown out the window now that the Vong had decided to march ahead of him. The Republic garrison would know something was coming- if not by the thundering footsteps of their approach, then by their ridiculous war chanting.

Really, the coordination of this whole affair was just abysmal.

"I didn't meant to give the impression I would be riding out with them. I don't have a death wish. I will be joining the second wave."

"Oh, you mean the-"

"Yes, you know what I mean. Send out the lancers, they'll eventually surpass that slow-moving pustule of Vong and take point. What little good they'll do now is still good enough."

The thrum of three hundred speeder-bikes activating simultaneously was a sound that could drown out all others. Fortunately these were droids that were specifically designed to die so that they could make the jobs of others easier. They did not require a motivational speech. The droids quickly fell into formation and shot off down the road, heading for their inevitable demise. Sooner or later they would link up with the Yuuzhan-Vong force that preceded them and take point on storming this particular garrison.

The machine's strategy to dig itself in was partly success and partly a way for Mantic to regain momentum through retaking his saber.

The ionizing shock was clearly a grave disturbance for the droid and as its grip on the sabers loosened up Mantic seized the opportunity to force pull his saber back to his waiting hand.

[member="Agamemnon"] was impressive to Mantic. But fore most a mystery. As if the droid reeked of actual emotions Mantic could not help but see the work of the sith, true or not, in the machine. He could not really figure it out. Had it been programmed to feel hatred?

Now it had collapsed to its knees and this was a battle that needed to be ended. He stepped forward, turning his blade one time in preparations for a final killing blow.

Then the beam shot out from its mouth. It was pure heat, not something Mantic knew how to deflect with his saber. By natural reflexes he raised his left arm to defend his face and his final blow was aborted. The heat was painful and burns found its ways inside his armor, slithering itself up on his arm and unto his left shoulder. Blistering heat also stroked his lightning scarred features.

Pain - he knew how to deal with it. Yet, a short flash back from sith lightning underlined his view on the droids sith affinity.

Focus...

To resist electrical energy was not hard, but he had been caught by surprise and he would be carrying wounds from this encounter for a long time.

With smoke rising from underneath his armor Mantic rolled slightly to the left aimed forward to get under and away from the beam and into close combat range.
The saber was Mantics greatest strength and it was time to use it to end this fight.

He followed suit with assuming Ataru styled rapid attacks, his saber moving in extremely fast and agile but light attacks - hoping it would be the beginning wearing down the machines final defences.

She was quick on her feet. This was made obvious to Mullarus when she maneged to backstep to avoid his final attack. Before he had a chance to follow up, he saw her lightsaber coming at him in a thrust. Mullarus used the Force to speed along his parry, which collided with her lightsaber and caused the two to lock lightsabers.

He looked into her eyes as she did his. He could feel her sympathy. The look in her eyes was one of apology. No, Mullarus would not glare back with a stare of deathly brutality like many of his kinsmen. Mullarus' dark blue gaze seemed to show her one of the same. Softly, he spoke sincerely.

"Truely, it is a shame we are enemies..."

A part of Mullarus wished to walk away and find another jedi to fight. This onr fights with honor and mercy. She does not want this. She is just being pulled along on her leash being held by the Jedi Order. Mullarus did not wish to spill the blood of this jedi. There were many others whose lives are worth far less than this one. She would make a fine Sith...

But this is not a perfect world that we live in. To give up the fight would not only leave himself open to attack, but it would make him look weak in front of his ally, the short pink sithspawn. How would it look if he approached Darth Pyrhhus and told him he refused to fight a Jedi on Contruum? Surely, he would never have his ambitions of becoming a Sith Lord granted...

Mullarus pushed harder on their saber lock to seperate them. If successful, however, Mullarus would only stay in a defensive stance rather than pressing the attack.

“Enlighten you”, her next blow came in just as quick as the last. Still evaluating the man defenses this strike held the intent to bat his blade from his left to his right. “If you have to ask. It means you do not understand”, another strike came in again to further test his balance. If he had a good basic knowledge he would have positioned his feet from the first strike. She struck again, moving his blade to the side. As she did, he shifted just a tiny fraction and maneuvered the other side of the weapon in preparation for what he felt was coming. She was being brutish to test him, which was odd, but at the same time familiar to him. It was a common practice amongst swordsmen on his homeworld.

She swung again and he brought the other blade up to connect with hers and push it upward while he tilted to avoid the point of the weapon and closed distance with her, where it would be harder for her to draw power into her strikes.

"I may not be very experienced in the ways of the galaxy, but I understand a great many things. I understand that Sith fight for many reasons." He continued to push at her blade in an upward direction.

"I understand that you think I am disillusioned and cannot be brought to reason. But why would I ask if not to understand you, personally?"

Grid 22

::Cease fire, cease fire!!!:: The call came in over the radio and immediately the Southern facing cannons halted fire, their shields flickering back on as they did so. The rain of artillery shells crashed down amongst them, pushing the boundaries of the shield generators and breaking more than a few. The parabolic artillery cannons took 3 casualties, the machines had lost their shields in the last barrage. As the last of the Sith's fire fell, the Republic picked up their pattern once again on Grid 33. The cannons fired on a reverse-line firing pattern. Western cannons fired on Eastern targets and vice versa, preventing the OS from pinpointing which groups of emplacements were targeting certain elements of their force. 3 ion cannons detonated, fire flaring into the sky before diminishing into smoke, and nearby soldiers rushed to secure casualties.

4 Gunships were ripped apart by AA cannon fire before they could find refuge behind the slopes at Grid 30, though the remaining A-10 Gunships curved Southward. They looped around the mountains along the Eastern edge of Grid 30, soon entering into airspace within Grid 36. They stuck low, no more than 20 meters off the ground, their targeting systems and outboard sensors silenced for the time being. The storm that had begun whipping up nearly an hour ago was growing stronger, and the gunship's pilots could feel gusts of wind pushing against their vessels.
Soon, the gunships came up on Baelor's force from the slight South-East, running over their forces from low elevation and hitting them more or less from behind. Similar payloads to before were launched, with the focus being on the Phaedra and Croesus units, though composite beam turrets were used more heavily than they had before to sear the Sith ranks. The gunships would then continue on a more or less straight line as they struck for the cover of the North side of the slope at Grid 29, ahead of Baelor's force, though many of them would perish.

Grid 26

3 Forward Observers spread throughout the area were taking care to remain out of sight as they scouted the region for the locations of the enemy forces tucked away on the Southern slopes of the mountains South of the Garrison itself. Their suggested areas of search extended from Grids 32 to 34, and so far nothing had been identified at 32 except mortar fire as one of the FO's had been seen by a long range Sith unit and targeted. The scout would eventually turn an ankle trying to escape the target area and be turned into spray by an incoming mortar round.
The other two scouts continued scouring the region, one of them traveling on the North slope of the West-East running mountains, peaking out over the ridgeline now and again to check on the area. Eventually, through the growing snow storm, one of the Republic observers managed to mark a location for the forces at Grid 33, and relayed this to Republic Command. The coordinates weren't exacting, but they were closer than where they were now.

Grid 7

Valdwin swore under his breath as two more of his squadron were picked off from behind as they dipped down below the mountains to the West of Grid 14. 2 more pilots were turned to ash, leaving Valdwin with 3 others aside himself. ::We didn't do much, and we don't have much more to give, guys.:: He muttered over the comms as they took the bombers through a series of low-lying valleys away from the fighting. ::What do you want to do? They'll expect us coming.::
It took a moment, but soon enough, one of the other pilots answered. ::We find another target. A different target. Check the battle log, there are reports of a Vong force having landed near the Garrison, to the West of it.::
Valdwin checked his tactical map. ::That puts them between the Hill and the Mythosaurs...wait, where are those Mythosaurs going?::

Grid 14

The Mythosaurs were coming around the North hook of the small mountain in the area (splitting Grid 14 and 15) North of the road, along with their escort of 4 MAT-TE walkers, which were hugging the slopes of the mountain closely to maintain accessible cover in the rolling folds at the mountain's foot. There was no hiding the Mythosaurs once they came into range, though they didn't need much hiding to begin with. Their loop around from Grid 15 had given them time to replenish their shields and reload their weaponry, and they were ready for a fresh engagement. The Mandalorians had been driven off or destroyed, but the new threats arriving on the battlefield were numerous and pesky.

The 2 Republic Mythosaurs honed in on their target area, a large force of primarily artillery and anti-aircraft that had been fielded by Sinistra. Their MAT-TE escorts began identifying AA guns and artillery cannons to focus their attention on, preparing high explosive ammunition in their weapons belts for the 120 mm mass driver cannons. The Mythosaurs own 420 mm main guns were ready as well, and the vehicles stabilized themselves against the back slope of one of the mountain's wrinkles before preparing to fire, which hid the majority of the vehicle from fire. The pilot lowered the chassis on the main leg joints, lowering the vehicle's profile and dropping it into defilade behind the slope so that only the main gun and missile weaponry were visible to the Sith force.
The strategy was simple: Shoot, move, communicate.

The lead Mythosaur fired, its massive main gun targeting the center formation of cluster of AA guns. 2 of the MAT-TE's began firing as well, picking out vehicle targets with its smaller, but fairly potent cannons. At this point, the second Mythosaur began shifting forward, covering the ground between the two forces and closing in. Along the way it fired off its compliment of Hellfire Cannons and Quad Laser Cannon turrets began raking lines of projectiles through the enemy ranks. The Strike Missile pods launched rockets to be dispersed densely into enemy lines, the objective being to hit closely grouped enemy forces. Once the walker reached a good distance out, its 2 MAT-TE's in tow, the group hunkered down behind another fold in the earth and continued firing upon Sinistra's force, offering the first Mythosaur and MAT-TE's the opportunity to bound ahead. This tactic would continue with the intention of allowing the Mythosaurs and smaller walkers to come too close within the force's artillery range for them to fire, and allow them to rip the force apart from the inside. Meanwhile, 25 Parabolic Artillery Cannons on the North face of the mountain fired outward, upon [member=Sinistra]'s forces at Grid 3, which were identified by Sergent Lesko and his FO team in the North, which had earlier identified Cryax bane's arrival.

The snow storm was in full force now around the base of the Garrison Mountain. Snow drifts swept across the land, reducing visibility and putting a grand chill in the air. A fell voice, carried on the wind, sought out the ears of all those on the battlefield; the wind howled and screamed, whimpered and cried, shouted and roared.
Ali was holding the helmet of a dead Mandalorian in her hands when the report of Vong came through to her from Command. They warned her of the possibility, though Ali had been hoping it wouldn't be true; that the Vong would fear her after Ord Mirit. But clearly the concept of self-preservation had yet to sink into their thick, brutish skulls. "Well I guess it's time to rectify that," Ali muttered. Beside her, Colonel Ratchet glanced up from her datatablet. "What's that ma'am?" She asked. Ali shook her head, "Don't worry about it." Ali replied, looking down at the battlefield from where she stood beside a MAT-TE walker. The vehicle was scored in a dozen places, but still standing strong, as was she and the Republic Army she led.
She handed the helmet aside to the man who was donning the dead Mando'ad armor. He pulled the helmet over his head and gave Ali a thumb up. ::Can you hear me ma'am?:: A voice in her head asked. Ali nodded to the man. ::Now get the rest of our boys suited up with this gear as swiftly as possible, we've got Vong knocking on our door and I want to be ready with a proper welcome.::
The man nodded and got back to work, the Republic had secured hundreds of powerful Mandalorian armor suits from the dead in the recent incursion atop the Garrison mountain. The suits would be invaluable in dealing with the Vong, which the Republic still remained miraculously unprepared for.

The problem with the Republic's enemies was that they underestimated their foe. The Sith felt themselves inherently superior because they were willing to massacre civilians for no reason at all. Ali snorted her laughter. Children, there's not even any benefit to it...she thought. You don't have to be a murderer to be able to enjoy killing. And you don't have to be smart to be able to murder.

As Ali pondered, artillery fire began striking the North face of the mountain. All around her, dozens of Anti-Aircraft weapons opened up on incoming Yorik Trema. The weapons were ablaze and lit up the cloudy, snow-ridden sky. Luckily for the Republic, their swiftly shifting cannons were able to keep pace with the yorik-vec that cruised right overhead and dropped their payload of large, brightly light and slow-moving bombs, which the turrets were able thin before impact. Even so, explosions rocked the surface of the mountain,
Ali ordered over half of the Mountain's North-facing artillery cannons to focus their fire on the ground-ridden Vong, 75 parabolic artillery guns. After a brief moment of calibrating their aim, the cannons fired, shaking the mountain with a stream of fire that was focused solely on the many Firebreathers walking about. The beasts had no dovin basal defense, and the shells could not be thwarted by anti-laser gasses. 75 cannons roared, and Firebreathers would die. The remaining 25 guns were still firing outward, upon [member=Sinistra]'s forces at Grid 3.

The advantages held by the Republic at the moment were innumerable, and undeniable. They were posted on rocky outcroppings and fortified firing positions. The Vong were forced to navigate between corridors of rock, having to fight up for every inch of ground, which they failed to attain in the end. The Firebreathers were tall, and effective at burning things, this was true. However, they were approaching the Republic from lower elevation, and their proboscis, being so short, were unable to effectively distribute the fire they sprayed to higher elevations. Were the firebreathers able to make it to level ground with the Republic troops they would have been fierce.
Even so, the earth burned below the Republic lines, and thud bugs from the Mer Kane exploded in packs, disrupting firing lines and killing soldiers here and there. The Republic fired back however, in powerful waves of continuous fire. Flamethrowers were used on those Vong who scrambled too close to Republic firing positions. Cardinam bombs were used to great affect amongst the enemy infantry, fired from nearby missile launchers located at higher slopes. The Firebreathers were targeted by rocket launchers, against which they had no intrinsic defenses, and anti-aircraft guns focused their fire at the nuhlrokka that were seen flitting about here and there in the distance.

"You'll have to plan better than that to take us!" Ali shouted over the sound of the battle as Rakamat projectiles pockmarked the mountainside with their lazily coordinated fire. The Republic's E-WEB's and blaster cannons focused their fire downward at the Vong infantry below, and Ali's 16 MAT-TE walkers prepared to fire upon the Rakamat themselves in the distance. The lumbering Vong artillery beasts may have been armed with dovin basals for protection, but their tactics were as old as the suns of the Galaxy.
::Walkers, focus your fire on the ground over the heads of their artillery monsters. Use the white phosphorous rounds, set for 10 meter detonation.:: Ali ordered. The white phosphorous rounds would explode out of range of the dovin basals, and spray the beasts with chemical death. It was a tactic that had been used on the Vong at Ord Mirit, and had proven more effective than simply trying to shoot them directly. Her MAT-TE's organized as 4 firing groups, each group of 4 walkers focusing on one Rakamat at a time with a 10 round per minute firing rate.

Ali continued observing as the Vong forces clamored for attention at the base of the mountain. The Republic continued to hold them off, and would keep doing so as the battle raged on. ::Ma'am, are you ready for us?:: Came the call over her commlink. ::No, not yet, stick it out just a little bit longer...we're almost there. We'll be giving them the first line, and then you're up.:: Ali replied to the voice on the other end of the transmission. ::Yes ma'am.::

Grid 9

::Able Squadron, this is Republic Command. We require a danger close air attack on Vong forces attempting to take the Mountain.:: Valdwin heard the request over his comms as he pulled out of another loop. ::Alright folks, let's go hit those Vong forces.:: He called, rallying his three remaining pilots and angling for [member=Zulia Kwaad]'s forces from the North, hidden from Sinistra's AA Guns by the mountain segregating Grids 14 and 15. They would drop their payload once within range, consisting main of their remaining T-33 plasma torpedoes, 16 total to target two of their Firebreathers, as well as a quad laser cannon run against their infantry.

[member=Zulia Kwaad]

Bulls-eye.

"Shussh... It's okay. There, there." Micah would deactivate his saber, clipping it on the magnetic belt on his hip. Really, what came next was rather baffling to anyone who would see them. He would seemingly gently brush her brown hair, as if placating her. What Ameli wouldn't see is that Micah let his armored hand drift down towards where she held the saber. A surge of of the Force would send ionic energy to the hilt, which was intended to completely disable the saber by frying the electronics within.

Non-lethal, but got the point across. Not to mention, her going 'stiff as a board' in his embrace was rather amusing.

"See... we can all be friends. If you wanted a hug all you had to do was ask!" he sang out with devilry, and if he hadn't the helm to protect himself, she would have seen the flashing wink that came along with it. He knew that she likely wouldn't last long in this state, so he needed her knocked out unconscious. His next act would be to once again, zap her to hopefully have her fall into his arms.

That is if the other one finally decided she had enough of Micah touching her Sith counterpart.

BAM!

Enter all the pretty stars and a yowl of pain as Kira got a face full of beskar right on the nose. She swore she even heard a slight crunch, and it felt as if daggers were digging onto her face. Yeah, that was not a feel good. Not a feel good at ALL.

The reaction was immediate, as the Jedi went rearing back like a cat struck by a stream of water. Her hands instinctively went to her face, which was now dripping with warm crimson liquid. A metallic tang entered her mouth along with the grit of mud. Yeah, she likely broke her nose!

"OWW~!!!!" Stars erupted in her head, vertigo momentarily took hold, and ugh the pain! It brought tears to her eyes. So there she went, flopping back onto the mud spread eagle cause, well, get headbutted by a Beskar helm and see how well one fares! However, it was not without payback. Automatically her hand had come up to push the woman away, and in that the Force would surge to blast the woman with a belayed Force stun. If she was going down, she was taking the Sith with her!

Then they could both have time out while laying down in the mud and the blood and that snake!
