It was Kurt's tone of voice that got to Kaile. Now it was her turn to get quiet. Knees came up against her chest again, a wayward strand of hair haphazardly slicked back behind her ear. Emotions rose and swelled with a distinct burn at the pit of her belly.

"I mean...." the Lorrdian began, her throat working. "The Med-droid could be wrong..." bits and pieces of information. The Medical Droid. If Kurt could put the pieces together, he would remember that she went to the medstation back on Byblos. Had she found out about it then?

There was just too much to say and Kaile didn't even know where to start.

Kurt didn't seem to register what she had said, either that or he didn't particularly care. The situation was stressful, for both of them. In the end, they both knew...or at least Kurt knew that Kaile wasn't going anywhere, so the fact that she had lied...or perhaps maybe just omitted the truth didn't really matter much.

He could understand why she would, and something so small hardly seemed to matter right now.

"I doubt it." Kurt said quietly as he buried his hands in his face. The simple truth of it was...well droids weren't usually wrong, especially ones that were built and maintained by Vanir Technologies. Kurt himself had experienced that fact more than once, those things were accurate, and while second opinions were great and all, he very much doubted they would get a different result no matter where they went or who gave the test to Kaile.

The Courier wanted to shrink into nothingness.

The quieter and more wretched the pilot became the worse Kaile felt. Her anxiety rose, and she began to tremble. Right, okay -- think Kaile girl. Worrying her lip with anxious bites, Kaile tried to think of ways that might help out the situation.

Honestly, none came up. Her mind was blank. The only thing that came to mind was the following.

"Maybe you should just drop me off on Sullust." as an SIS agent she had medical care there. Could narrow things down, and maybe neither would feel so lost then.

He slowly turned his head.

"What?" His voice was a bit accusatory but also held an air of humor. "So I have to chase you down and blow The Messa's hyperdrive a second time?"

He shook his head. "Nah."

Kaile did need medical care of course, and they would get it for her, but 'dropping her off' didn't sound like anything that he wanted to do. He shifted slightly and looked at her, his expression rather stern. It was pretty clear that he wouldn't be letting Kaile go anywhere.

At least not without a tracking device.

"That isn't what I meant and you know it," she said quietly back, tucking her chin on top of her knees. Kaile was just trying to come up with a plan; and idea on how to tackle this. It was evident that the added complication was confusing her as much as causing her anxiety. How was she even supposed to react to everything. Already the Lorrdian had been panicking on her own. Now to add Kurt to the mi-- and what about Asmus?

"Might not even be yours." She added in a strained voice, allowing for some measure of hope for the pilot. Wouldn't be another month or so before she could even do a paternity test. Then the added chaos on figuring out who was the father. Kurt of Asmus. Both would have their own cons that made Kaile wrong her hands.

Even then that didn't wipe away the severity of the matter. No SIS spy could be pregnant. There was no way she'd get that cleared through headquarters. If Kurt wanted to push a reason why Kaile should step away right then, this life changing event could very well do that.

He felt an odd sort of relief slip into the pit of dread. At least there was a chance it wasn’t his, at least there was a chance that he hadn’t completely karked up his life forever. It was a small hope apparently, but a hope nonetheless.

What was he going to do about Jamie?

”I.” He began quietly. Would he lie to her? No. That wasn’t him, not anymore anyway. He had promised to be committed to her and he was, but this...this wasn’t something that he could share over the holo-net. ”We’ll figure it out.”

The words were almost silent.

He meant them though. That was the important thing.
