RP Pet Peeves?

Yeah but they're pretty and they like looking at them cause they're pretty

that can totally be used against him by all the chiseled men on the board that he'll inevitably spend most of his time interacting with

Tell me I'm pretty.

When I rp, a big pet peeve of mine is auto-detecting.

I see It all the time, sometimes I may accidently do so. Here you are snooping around in a thread, being super silent and stealthy, and the other writer decides to 'add' a detail (step on a stick, which you didn't mention in your post) and reveal your character without your permission. It's annoying.

There's the difference between adding a gust of wind, and a 'stick snap' when you don't mention it. IDK, maybe it's just one of those 'one person' things o . o

Multiple lives.

You die, the story is over, and everyone is happy -- BUT OH WAIT SITH SORCERY WOW!

Then you die again, everyone is happy, and the story has reached another nice conclusion -- OH GOLLY YOU HAD A PRIVATE CLONING FACILITY FULL OF CLONES? AWESOME!

Trying too hard to win at everything. Failure builds character! Really! It does! There is no better way to develop your character than to fail. A lot. They will grow much better than a guy who never loses anything. I've been roleplaying for years, not necessairly on a forum but in real time in other games, and I see people try WAY too hard WAY too often just to win...that and giving your characters items with bulls**t abilities that give them unfair advantages because "It's a family relic" or something like that...

As said before, the Dissapearng Act. I had a friend on here whom I threaded with a lo. He left because his IC Master stopped getting on without a trace, so since he couldnt develop his character with his master like he wanted, he stopped coming on, too. It really sucks.

Also stated before, Too Much Tech. Write better, stop developing technology that makes your character a demigod in battle. Ffs....that isnt the point of forum roleplay. Developing technology, to me, is about creating cool, unique items for your character or to explain tech that certain faction's soldiers and armies use. I hate seeing a humungous influx of new tech before invasions and skirmishes.

Okay, for realsies.

My serious petpeeve?

When I'm writing with a writer, and they are not into the rp at all but force it through.

That isn't fun to me. I rather know someone rather drop a thread, or me wrap up a thread, than go through the motions of roleplaying if my writing partner isn't enjoying it.

It's kinda like smex. No one wants a starfish who isn't into it at all. Not how I get my jollies.

Men who write lesbians
Writers who beg for relationships for their characters without putting in any rp effort
Passive-aggressive OOC
Posts that do nothing to advance the story nor give the other writer anything to play off
Posts that show the writer didn't read what came before
Signatures that are longer than posts

Yeah, that's really what I meant [member="Spencer Jacobs"]. And you can have my children if you want. You lay eggs, right?

Writers who guilt other writers. Let people write what they want.
Okay, but the thread isn't called "Should people be able to write what they want?" It's called "RP Pet Peeves." Just people's opinions is all.
