RP Pet Peeves?

So..... I can't turn David Bowie into a Sith Lord who's incredibly powerful and is about as easy to get rid of as a Jefferson Starship, then turn him into a booty-chasing female David Bowie Sith Lord?

Darn. :p

On a serious(ish) note, I think my biggest pet peeve is when I'm thread-fighting someone and, quite frankly, I can't do anything. I.e. either they become Batman and I'm Derpy Robin, or every time I try to hit them they LOLnope me.

Now, let me be fair: I am also a writer who tends to (or tries to) avoid being the most powerful person, because I am aware of the fact that none of my characters have reached the level where, ICly, they are well-respected enough to be able to get a headshot over 1000 miles away from their target.

But sometimes it'd be nice to be more than a Joe Dirt xD

I'd pay to read that.

I know you were joking, but in no way should my words be taken as official policy.

It's my own personal pet peeve and I don't expect anyone to follow it even if they RP with me.

You may only use an avatar of David Bowie if your characters name is Ziggy Stardust.

And if he plays guitar.

And jams good with Weird and Gilly.

And the Spiders from Mars.

I don't. Many writers have changed to it because they know I prefer it.

The only time I asked for it to be used was in characters that are part of a dynasty I created(Taliths).

Actually, it wasn't just your pet peeve I was kidding with -- I was also referencing a few others that folks had posted up, like the part about oversexed lesbians ( I kinda get peeved by that, too, now that I think about it >.>), god-like Force Users, etc. Plus, any time I think of David Bowie, I think of this. Even when he's singing "Under Pressure" with Queen. xD

How about....Jareth Stardust?

No need to pay, it's free xD

Writers who beg for relationships for their characters without putting in any rp effort

Oh man, i've seen far too many "MY CHARACTER NEEDS TO GET LAID FOR NO REASON AT ALL" characters. Sadly, when first starting out roleplaying, even I was guilty of love-seeking to the max. I'm glad I grew out of it.

Thanks, Spider Man

My biggest pet peeve is when someone replies to you but they do not put any dialogue into their post. Most notably with their first reply. So by that I mean I make a big ole intro post and create the atmosphere then someone else will post and then say nothing in their post relying on me to start the dialogue in my second post.

Uh, hello, guy. I just created a big long post you could at least give me something to work with.

Do you have them? What are they? What do you do about them?

Personally, I have one big one: when people commit to a thread and then never post.
Sidebar: what's worse is when people commit, wait three days, tell you they're about to post, and then don't post, but post repeatedly in other threads.

Drives me nuts!
I am very guilty of this. I have no excuse >3<

One of my biggest pet peeves involves dueling, specifically when an opponent can't see a way out of taking a hit, so they try to baffle you with BS in the hopes that you'll get confused and just roll with it. This is especially annoying with firearms, because chances are I've either fired what you're using or know someone who has.

  • People who leave their duel posts vague.
  • Anime avatars in SWRP, specifically.
  • Relationship progression that happens over one short thread. Bam! We're married! Bam! She's knocked up! Bam! We have ten kids!*
  • Couples that act like horny/toxicly smarmy lovebird teenagers in Every. Single. Gods-Damned. Thread... particularly where it's least appropriate to the thread.
  • Chronic posting of threads in which one begs for RP/whines of boredom/looks for love.
  • Factions that blame other factions for their activity issues.

*Not necessarily in that order.

I've experienced this many times... but if someone is busy IRL or is busy with other characters, I can understand.

But I still don't like it either way :p

When all of my attacks get brushed off... I'll admit, I've had some rather pissy days when I decided that I'm getting up after you hit me with a large hammer, but thinking back, most where in my old days when I didn't have a clue... now both I and my character have more than an inkling of what we're doing... Please don't turn my character's best attacks into a pre-padawan level halfhearted kittyswat... Even if its just a scratch, you'll find me a hell of a lot more agreeable and even more likely to lose.

Basically: When i send ten of my well practiced daggers at your face... don't lolnope them with a wave of your hand.
