Shimmy shimmy cocoa pop!

"Nah.. I'm okay," Kaile gave a small reassuring smile to Jamie. "I have to keep practicing." that was true. If she didn't, well then, things could get pretty bad for Bobo and herself. The young woman saw the concern wash over the blonde's face, heard the worry in her voice. Touched, Kaile attempted to ease her anxiety.

"It used to be worse!" she said with a small laugh. Accepting Jamie's hand, she gave it an encouraging squeeze. "Sometimes, we need to do difficult things in order to make sure we can help others." straightening, she took a deep, steadying breath. It filled her lungs, expanding them. That bit of fresh air helped the nausea.

"I really am getting better at handling it, though." another squeeze of Jamie's hand. "Come on, I'm okay. This is as much as training for me as it is for you. I need to be able to make sure I can quickly use the Force when abruptly taken out of Bobo's bubble. If anything were to happen when that is the case, then I need to know I won't pass out."

The right corner of her mouth perked up.

" Can't do much good then."

Jamie eyed Kaile for a moment, still rather unsure as to whether or not the strawberry blonde was truly okay.

"Alright, but if you start to get nauseous or lightheaded you better let me know!"

If it used to be worse she wondered just how bad 'worse' used to be, given the performance she'd just seen after mere seconds of separation from Bobo. Still, it was her choice. If she wanted to continue Jamie wouldn't force her not to. After all, she wasn't her mother. Jamie leaned over the side of the couch and scooped up the three pillows that aligned each cushion, then set them down on the floor between herself and Kaile.

"Is that enough? Or do we need more? I've got a couple of bigger ones on my bed, and two more in each of the guest rooms." Jamie wasn't quite sure just how turbulent this training was going to be, or if she should perhaps move some of the furniture around.

"Should we make more space you think?"

“Nah, this works just fine.” the Lorrdian assured the woman. Coming down, she sat crossed legged. With a friendly smile that was slowly getting stronger, Kaile warmly gestured for Jamie to sit.

“Just need the datapad… We’ll go over some of the basics I normally trained the kiddos back in the day.” Oi vey, now she aged herself! Oh well.

Back in the Pyre, she had been part of a program for recruitment as well as basic training. Prior to that, her time in the Rebellion Cell had her learn techniques for increased mental resistance. Depending on how well Jamie did, they might cover some of those points.

“We’ll start with the basics of sensing. I want to see how much you can sense to start with and expand from there.”

At the very least, she should get some of the basics.

Then the fun stuff would begin!

[member="Jamie Pyne"]

With a nod Jamie scooped up the datapad from the counter top where she'd left it before disembarking from the ship earlier that day, handing it down to Kaile as the woman sat down. The blonde then sat across from Kaile as she had been gestured to do. Her legs crossed in a similar fashion, her hands planted lightly on her knees. "Okay then!"

She looked at Kaile with a slight bit of confusion. "Sensing what, exactly?" There was a high probability that her question was going to sound silly, but she would rather look silly and understand than not understand and pretend to. She had learned that lesson quite well enough already. There was nothing quite as embarrassing as lying through your teeth when the other person knew before you ever opened your mouth.

Kaile stone Jamie a smile.

‘Everything.” her hands gave a little gesture to the entirety of the ship. “You. Me. Even Bobo.” the Lorrdian shifted a bit on her bottom, extending her hand to take the datapad. She set it in front of her, I’ll use you for later!

“The Force is like this energy; well it is energy that floats about everywhere and in everything. Even Bobo, but how it reacts to him is a bit different. You already got the basics of being able to see an object and do what you will -- like picking up a datapad.” her finger gave it a little tap as an example.

“But you can use it for far more than that. To see what you cannot. To sense the life around you..” she began to explain. “Okay, has your master taught you about how to find your center? That lil peace of mind area where you can focus and concentrate?”

Jamie understood the principles of the Force, that was this infinitely available energy that encompassed all living things, though she was hardly anything seasoned in the subject. The ability to manipulate it on some level was about all she'd accomplished thus far. While she had been trained to clear her mind and conscious, to find peace through meditation, she never much felt anything through it.

"Yes, she has. But, it was usually in preparation for something like practicing my control over the Force, rather than sensing things like people."

Or maybe she had, and Jamie simply didn't quite grasp what exactly that meant. When you're told to feel something intangible, more often than not you feel it simply because you're supposed to, not so much because you in fact, do. Jamie always understood that as the truth, rather than the physical aspect behind the abstract.

[member="Kaileann Vera"]

“It is pretty much the same concept.” Kaile elaborated, pleased that Jamie’s master had been able to teach her that. That made everything easier. There was a base there.

“Only that instead of doing so when you are about to kick someone’s tush, this can be passive as well as active.” scooting forward, she gave an encouraging smile, bringing her hands to rest in front of her lap.

“Do what she taught you to do. Close your eyes. Focus within. Get to your center then I want you to push out with your mind. You got all these senses; sight, taste, hearing, touch, smell… open your mind, and tell me what you can sense.” a pause then a small cant of her head, “It will feel silly I know, but i want you to try and focus beyond what you can physically sense in the now.”

She gestured to herself.

“I’ll be your focus… use the Force to distinguish what separates me from what is around.” A heartbeat. Blood rushing through her veins. Her own aura and energy that would seem to radiate amidst the backdrop of inorganic durasteel and plastic. Beyond that, that current of the Force would seem to encapsulate the entire area, save where Bobo was it. In there, it would seem as if the Force drifted over a projected bubble, one where Jamie would be unable to exert any influence over the Force within.

[member="Jamie Pyne"]

"Hmm." The silent murmur of contemplation echoed through her vocal chords as she listened to Kaile's instruction. "Alright. I'll try."

Without another word the blonde shuttered her eyes, encapsulating herself within the darkness behind closed lids, allowing the world to fall away as would a curtain call to signal the end of a play. The only sound she could then perceive was that of her own breathing, her own heartbeat. The steady pulse of energy vibrating her core to maintain life. It became the tempo to her inner focus.

Push out with your mind? The idea of it seemed so foreign to her. What does that even mean?

The blonde shifted momentarily from her position, as if trying to force the idea to transpire by sheer determination. There was something she could feel. Like a small blip, a dot on a radar almost. But it faded as quickly as it came. Was that Kaile? Myself? She had no sense of location over the momentary feeling, fleeting as it were.

Again, she tried to focus her mind on feeling Kaile without feeling her. The Force welled in what little capacity she could gather within her, and again she allowed it to ripple outwards and away from her being, like a measure of radar scanning of its' own. Again she could feel Kaile's presence, the blip she had felt earlier, a foreign entity unlike her own. It gave her a shiver, a tremor up her spine at the brief contact before it dissipated.

Though her eyes remained closed, she spoke quietly to the girl just a few feet away. "It feels strange to me. Uncomfortable even, feeling you without touching you."

[member="Kaileann Vera"]

Jamie would hear the soft bubbly chuckle from the other woman.

"Yeah... as if the tiny hairs at the nape of your neck are standing on end. " Kaile said in agreement. "It always feels a bit like when you know someone is looking at you, and you don't know why, but you just do. You know someone is there even if you can't see them."

It was actually rather creepy for Kaile.

"But practice can have you gather bits of information like this. Think of it like the sensors on a ship. Each sweep giving you more details; that there is a ship, then you can read the transponder code... learn what type of ship... make and model... your sensors probe a bit deeper... you can detect lifesigns..." and so forth.

"I like to imagine everything in my mind like a holofilm. Taking the bits of information I can sense and play them out like a movie... it helps me visualize it. Most say it is kinda like you are using the Force to be your eyes and such." that was actually an advanced form of the Force, Force Sight.

"Try mentally picturing that, maybe that could help... then spread your awareness a bit further... What do you sense when you get to Bobo?"

[member="Jamie Pyne"]

Well at least it's not just me then...

Jamie had come to understand that the Force affected everyone in different ways, so she wasn't entirely sure if what she was feeling now was something normally felt when seeing through this measure of action. "Exactly! That's how I feel! So strange..."

A nod of the head and she settled herself back into her center of peace. Another long draw of her lungs and she allowed her mind to run free once more, expanding throughout the room, though this time it rippled further, the blip of Kaile's energy reappearing through this sight, she could nearly see the girl's form as a form of bodily energy confined to a single space, rather than just a blip in space. As her presence expanded there was a noticeable gap in her touch, presumably where Bobo sat resting.

"I...There's nothing. It's like Bobo isn't there. It feels like if there was simply an area of space missing, unreachable, like a black hole."

-Tents fingers at posting love-

“Yeah. I know it seems a bit odd when you consider how everything else seems to radiate with the Force or through the Force. “ Kaile would lick her lips, explaining to the younger woman the differences. There weren’t many Ysalamiri, although more companies were starting to use them.

“It isn’t that the Force is gone with Bobo. It is more that he naturally puts out that bubble I was telling you about earlier. That bubble simply prevents anyone from being able to influence the Force while you are in it.” The average citizen never had contact with them, so Kaile tried to explain as much as she could.

Kaile gave a wiggle of her toes. “With Bobo, when he’s with me, you get the same thing. If he was on my shoulder right now, you wouldn’t be able to sense or influence me with the Force… even say if you used a Force Push on me, I’ll probably only just barely stumble… where another person, like in your fencing fight, would get shoved across the room.”

Her hand ran through her hair to push it away from her face and tuck in behind her ears. It was relatively quiet save for the sound of the air recycler, which was nice. “There are other critters that don’t quite react the same way as we do with the Force.. some of them have learned to hide within it. “

Fingers came to dribble on her knees. “The more you practice, the more you can sense. Maybe even be able to sense someone down the hall or in another room. Further still if you get really good at it. It comes in handy if you are trying to get away or coming up on a new place and then the lights go out.” this was important.

“That way, you never go in blind. You always have some way to be aware of your surroundings. Taking the time to focus will help you when you least expect it.”

A pause.

“From this you can expand to all kinds of things. “ that’s when she took Jamie’s datapad, giving it a gentle tap.

“Like your datapad!”

"I see." She said, "Are there any other species that are able to do that?" Referring to Bobo's ability to neutralize the Force within a confined area. "That seems like a really evolutionary kind of trait to have." That would be good information to have as well, considering the likelihood that Jamie would find herself on some sort of battlefield eventually. Knowing everything one could going into sticky situations could be the difference between life and death after all.

"My datapad?" Her eyes shifted to the small electronic device curiously. "What exactly can you do with a datapad with the Force?" The idea of the Force having any sort of use short of moving or destroying the device was slightly beyond her imagination. Sure, the Force had plenty of uses, but for an electronic device? What exactly else was there to do with it? The blonde shifted her bottom to get more comfortable, taking one of the pillows to sit on it.

“There are others, I reckon. I don’t know them all, but they are out there.” a pause came, and her brow scrunched up as she considered. Well there was one species in particular that couldn’t be affected by the Force.

“Well… If you’ve heard about them.” she began, licking her lower lip, feeling the suddenly try flesh. “There are the Yuuzhan Vong…” with their resurgence within the One Sith, it made dealing with the Force Dead species a mite bit difficult. “Not the same as Bobo… but… “ she gave a grimace. “The Force can’t react to them just the same. That’s why it has been mighty troublesome to deal with them.”

Her hands would jiggle the datapad between her hands back and forth. “Hutts can’t be mind tricked… nor can Toydarians.” she tossed out a few other ones she knew. Glancing down at her datapad, Kaile suddenly gave a bright smile.

“Well.. one of the neat tricks I can do is use the Force on this.” she held the datapad up. “The Forces is pretty much energy. You can manipulate and control that energy much like the power required to run this.” she gave the datapad a slight tap of her finger.

“With practice.. you can even start controlling what it does. Like the software or hardware itself.” she gave a wag of her brows.

“Helps out if you ever need to break out of a place with an electric lock…. or get a bit of information.”

"Hmmm..." Jamie's response was subtle, almost as if it were meant to be an internal contemplation of the idea that a number of other beings and species were seemingly unaffected by the will of the Force. The idea of it seemed strange to her, like they rejected the laws of planetary gravity, or the vacuum of space. Then again, she was no astrophysicist, or anything closely resembling some sort of scientific mind, but the realization that the Force could simply be ignored by species seemed, well, wrong.

For the time being she left the idea as it were, and listened to Kaile describe the Toydarian and Hutt minds and how they could not be fooled with simple mind tricks employed by the Force, as well as the declaration that Kaile could manipulate Jamie's datapad in ways she hadn't thought possible.

"So you can like, turn it on and off using the Force? Or make it do certain things? How!?"

Kaile gave a wag of her brows. There was mischief afoot..

“Oh.. that is only barely skimming at the top of what you can do.” Kaile would assure the younger blonde, already a bit more color returning to the apple of the Lorrdian’s cheeks. It was getting easier moving from Bobo’s bubble into utilizing the Force. She wouldn’t be able toMechu anyone’s deru right now, but she could at the very least teach the basics of electronic manipulation and technomancy.

“What we gotta remember is that the Force is merely energy. Just like the energy that powers a datapad or anything electronic. The same way that electricity runs through circuits is the same manner that the Force runs through everything.”

Kaile wiggled her fingers, providing another example,“Or like the impulses in your body along your nerves to make you do what you need to do when you think it.”

“We are going to practice sensing the Force,” she began to tick this out, “Altering the Force into energy... “ another tick mark, “And then manipulating and controlling that Force to turn on this datapad.”

Her Nexu grin grew wider.

“Then we’ll get to the fun stuff.”

The blonde fidgeted in her seat with excitement. While she couldn't foresee any practical use for this in the near future, it was one of those skills that would likely become a life saver in the right situation. That, and learning quirky things was always more exciting than learning that which everyone already knew. Jamie smiled, nodded, and listened to Kaile speak, practically bouncing on her bottom as the other girl talked.

Her hands wrapped around the front of her legs, lightly rocking herself back and forth, her feet lightly tapping on the durasteel beneath her.

"I see! Then let's not waste time! Show me what you've got girly!"

There was an abundance of eagerness to her tone that was typical of when she became excited, wanting to learn and understand things as quickly as possible to make practical use of that knowledge.

[member="Kaileann Vera"]

A wink was given over to [member="Jamie Pyne"] 's direction, a giddy ambiance taking over between the two young women.

"Okay, I'll show you first. Then I'll have you try it out." Kaile would explain to Jamie, placing the datapad between them once more. "I'll explain as I do it so that way you can understand the steps." A thought then a sheepish grin frosted her lips. "Sorry if I have the silliest expressions on my face," To prove a point, she contorted her mouth and scrunched up her nose.

"Sometimes my concentration face looks a bit like a dorky 'o' face." came her chuckle. "Alright!" clapping her hands together she gave them a rub. Warmth spread across her hands.

"So first off. Sensing the datapad." shutting her eyes, the Lorrdian would sink herself into the Force. It was like a warm blanket one could snuggle upon; one that Kaile had been practicing slipping into faster and faster after parting from Bobo's bubble. In her mind she could feel the currents of the Force flow between her and Jamie. She was like this bright little aura in her sight.

"I can feel you," she stuck out her tongue at Jamie's direction. "Gosh that sounds so creepy!" another laugh, shoulders shaking.

"Okay...focusing on the datapad..." even if the datapad was turned off, there was still lingering energy from the powercell. It was at a resting state.

"I can sense the energy in the powercell." she explained, deep furrows now upon her brow. Kaile hadn't been joking about the silly faces.

"Now... much like you would with a Force push... it is about collecting that energy and manipulating it..." concentration was the key here. Jamie likely wouldn't be able to do this as fast as Kaile would, but with practice, she'd be able to do it.

"Then you simply redirect it." the Force was infinite in that. Kaile typically imagined in her head that she was pouring that energy into anything electronic and shoving forward to turn it on.

In a few seconds, the display screen bloomed to life.

"Okay! That makes sense." Biting the inside of her cheek was a sort of anticipation tick she'd developed as a kid, and rarely noticed she was even doing it until her jaw tired or her conscious mind alerted her. Though while she subconsciously fidgeted she also listened to Kaile's explanation and request to excuse her silly faces, though Jamie would try and reassure her there was no need to worry all the same.

"I wouldn't worry, I don't think most people have a very compelling concentration face."

Blue eyes watched as Kaile shut her own, sinking herself into the Force. "Hey! Don't be feeling me, feel the datapad!" She laughed at the context of her words, having not thought about it before it was said. Jamie looked from Kaile to the datapad to see if what she was attempting was in fact, working. A few moments of silence would pass before she saw the screen flash on, the bright display lighting up.

"Hey!" She leaned forward, grabbing the pad and looking at it to make sure there was no kind of coincidental trigger that powered it up. "You did it! That's incredible!"

Bright, chocolate brown eyes would snap open in glee. Jamie’s enthusiasm and awe only fanned the Lorrdian’s own. With an impish grin, she shot the younger blond another wink.

“Haha, well feel up or not, that’s the basics.” Kaile would assure her, scooting forward a bit as she watched Jamie inspect for any telekinetic foul play.

“I mean… you could use the Force to telekinetically press the button, but for a cold start, that’s what you do.” she would tell her, bringing her fingers down upon the floor to do a little series of taps with her fingers. She always had to be moving some way or another. Her body was used for communication and relaying her thoughts and interests as much as words did.

“Once you do that… well…” the right corner of her mouth would twitch in a growing half smirk. “That’s when we can start scanning the contents and put them all here. “ right hand rose, and her forefinger tapped at her temple.

“You don’t need a computer spike then. You can start compartmentalizing and scanning what is saved in the datapad to search for what you need… even make it do whatever you want it to do. Encryption takes a bit longer, but with practice it can go faster.”

Leaning forward, she also tapped at the datapad. “This doesn’t just work with datapads. But you can do the same to security consoles or speeders… anything really. If you are in a jam and need to get out, doing the same technique works.”

Where does someone learn this kind of thing? She wondered. It was certainly something she'd never even considered the uses for or the idea that it was even possible, let alone how or where to learn such a thing. Strange. Still, she could hardly knock it uses. In the event of confinement, imprisonment, or otherwise involuntary detainment this could very well be a life saver.

Stealing information from enemies was also a lot simpler through methods like this she conceded. Nodding her head in agreement with the statements that the other girl was making with regard to its' various uses.

"It's impressive, that's for sure. How long did it take you to be able to do the more complex tasks like breaking into stuff?" Jamie was quite curious just how good Kaile was at this kind of thing.

The blonde set the datapad back down, convinced that there was no cheating going on, on Kaile's part. This Force stuff was really remarkable, leading her to wonder just how many other things that could be done that she'd never even thought of before. Just thinking about the possibilities was enough to waste an entire afternoon in silent contemplation.
