Sia's Song | The Wedding of Zak Dymo & Sia Ike

[member="Makai Dashiell"]

Of course, while Makai attempted to appear as if the cold wasn't really affecting him, Myra was able to see right through him. Her shoulders set, and she gave a sigh of frustration. Why was he so difficult? She mused, although a voice in the rear of her mind also pointed out that she was doing the exact same thing.

Guilt and shame rose in another wave, aware of the way his shoulders had slumped earlier.
"Ain't no reason to freeze your gills off here any longer," the rough edge of her voice had waned, and she went reaching out to take his hand as she had many times before. A red gloved hand encircling his own.

"Come on, let's go," she told him, moving bold as you please to head back up the path.

"Any longer out here and your skin'll match your scales."

"Technically, my gills aren't in use right now."

Curly locks hid them behind his ears, although when he wasn't in the water they were near-invisible. One would have to be in a fairly intimate setting out of water to actually see them. Ellie didn't seem to hear him though, her hand coming to grab his, moving at a brisk pace that wouldn't allow him to sit on the bench. He could have, remained seated. She was far too petite to physically move him by one arm.

It was much wiser to follow along at this point.

"You wouldn't like me if I was blue all over? Like, shiny scale blue?" Feet crunched against the snow as he worked to catch up to her. Reaching her side, Makai put an arm around her shoulders, giving a gentle squeeze in a sort of half-hug. He didn't bother to remove his arm when finished though, the warmth mixed with the closeness of his best friend/crush was comforting.

"I got to go give my gift to [member="Zak Dymo"] and his new wife." Makai had the envelope in his breast pocket. "You going to come or head back to the ship?"

Truth be told Myra wasn't about to object to the warmth of Makai's side pressed against her own. To be fair, sure did seem that the temperature jumped a degree or two just by it, even if she realized it was all just in her mind. That he didn't argue with going back suited her, although a voice in the rear of her mind was quick to point out she was being bossy again.

"Who said anything about not liking you if you were all shiny scaley blue?" tiny puffs of white blew out of her mouth with every word she said, a slight quiver to her voice due to the cold. "I just don't want you freezing your blue speckled butt off." However, her cheeks were noticeably a shade pinker. She'd like him just fine regardless of how much of his skin was covered in blue scales. To her, they were quite pretty. Had been for a long while now. He just didn't seem to even bother to realize that.

Her nose crinkled at the next question. She knew that Zak was Makai's best friend; well, guy friend. Even if he did just marry some Jedi teenager who likely had no good sense in her head to realize they were far too young to get married to begin with. Hot air blew out of her mouth and puffed her cheeks at the thought.

Boys. They really couldn't think straight without proper direction. That's what her momma always said.

"Best go and give his gift and all." she admitted. Even at her age, she was still a bit leery of large crowds, but to be by Makai side and knowing it was important to him, she'd go along.

"Come on." another tug to lead him back towards where the rest were.

His shoulders lifted in a shrug at the covered in scales comment. Truth be told, Makai had a bit of a love/hate relationship with the scales that dotted his skin. Scales were useful at times. Some of his water loving abilities had some in handy. Most of the time they just got him stared at. Or led to odd questions he wans't comfortable answering.

"So you've confirmed what I suspected. You have been staring at my butt. How else would you know it has scales on it?"

A boyish grin broke out on his face again, knowing there would be a blush. Makai always enjoyed seeing her cheeks flush, knowing he had caught her. Hard to do when Ellie was always so quick on her game. Knowing her hatred of crowds , even a small one, Makai wouldn't force her to come along.

"You don't have to come along" Steps slowed as they neared the Siren's Song. "I shouldn't be too long....frozen pizza in the galley. Just save me a piece."

Their steps stopped but Makai kept his arm around her. Of course he had to get out of the cold. And see Zak. Make appearances at the wedding and wish his friend the best of luck. Then again, Ellie seemed to have calmed down. They were back to joking around. She looked great....wait, did he say that? Couldn't remember, probably couldn't hurt to tell her again.

"You look beautiful. " Sudden rush of boldness was soon tempered, color rising to his cheeks in embarrassment. "...Uh, not that you don't every day...just....umm.....you look great."

Welp, it didn't take long for Myra's cheeks to turn an even darker shade of red. First it was the starting at his blue speckled butt comment. Then how he had complimented her by saying she was beautiful. It both made her stomach lurch as much as it flipped flopped. As if there were Koros butterflies going wild in there, making her feel all tingly and happy but embarassed at the same time.

Makai was her best friend. The first person other than her ma and pa who had taken her into their home. Her first crush. Her first love. The one she had jokingly said he'd marry her in all sorts of silly little girl ways that her mama had humored her with. Only thing was that all he could see her as was his best friend. With her body in that awkward stage of being all arms and legs and no boobs -- well who could blame him?

Especially with all those Jedi floozies around.

"Umm..." she'd been about to defend herself on the staring at his butt comment, but after it seemed to just catch in her throat. "I can go."

Softly a second later after ducking her head shyly, she managed to utter a very low. "Thank you."

Flushing in his cheeks died down a little as it was her turn to be embarrassed. He felt a little awkward but [member="Myra Elspeth"] seemed to be receiving his compliment well. No punch to the arm. No witty comment. Had he finally left her a bit speechless? That would be a first since she uttered her first sentences in basic!

Makai felt like pushing his luck. Maybe it was the cold weather affecting him, slowing down the blood to his brain. Perhaps it was the entire 'wedding, love is in the air' thing. Or maybe he had just gotten a little bold since his words seemed to be going over better since the proposal incident.

"You're welcome."

Scale speckled hand reached up and brushed a few chestnut colored locks out of her face. The young half-Galan was quickly reaching the point of no return. He had to do it. Now or never, right? His other - now shaky - hand found its way to Ellie's hip, drawing the teenage girl closer to him, face-to-face.

Head bent down, blue lips brushing against her own.

There were very, very few instances that would leave Myra speechless. At least, nowadays. Back when she was little, she hardly talked at all. Most of her conversation had been through gestures and inferred accounts. The trauma of her biological parent's deaths would always affect her, and at that tender age, it had been the worst.

Most thought she'd be mute for a long while. Others thought differently. Her adoptive mother and father were among the few who never treated her any different. Them and Judah and Makai -- and Makai always seemed to make up for her lack of chatter with double of his own.

It was just his way of things. A constant stream of chatter that went from one span to the next. Ain't no one who can say Makai Dashiell didn't speak his mind; he often did so while sticking his foot in his mouth. But he spoke freely and easily as he took to the water like a fish. No pun intended.

Which was just one of the things Myra loved about the boy. That and his eyes and his scales and well -- pretty much everything. The thing was that Makai spent too much time talking and not enough acting, so it was a bit frustrating, to say the least when dealing with him. At least, for one little girl who had been crushing like a lost pup over the tangled mop dark curls and his cheeky smile.

So needless to say, having him take the plunge and do what he did then, well... it did a number for Myra's little heart and breathing. That is, she plumb forgot to at all!

Ain't like either of them had any practice at all. What's a peck in the light of things while standing in the snow? You took into consideration how dang cold it was that it made the lips numb. Don't even account for the face too. Truth be told, him brushing her hair away from her face was a nice gesture. Butterflies were already fluttering hotly in her belly, and she wasn't quite sure if it was a mix of indigestion or damn nerves.

Other way, cold lips touched cold lips and sorta kinda turned lukewarm. Or at least some imaginary hike in temperature as their lips smushed together with Myra's eyes bulging out like a fish out of the water.

Not her most proudest moment, but also the most toe-tingling. Funny how that went. Her heart thudded, and she swore her whole body was heating up.

Either way, all thoughts were swept plumb off into the flurries that surrounded them. Myra wished there was a bigger word to describe her feelings for the handsome, silly boy who was now kissing her, but love seemed to be the only thing that came to mind whenever he stood near her.
