For a moment the young woman paused there, torn between the two posts as the spirit’s of light and dark met in battle for that body. Almost unconsciously her hand came up, resting on her face, as a finger extended, twirling a strand of hair that was no longer there. White teeth worried at her lower lip, the amber fading from her eyes momentarily as the Padawan struggled for control, to reclaim her body. But against the power of the Sith, against the greater experience and control, she could bring to bear, the power behind the possession that victory was all too fleeting. As quickly as it came the Togruta’s eyes turned changed once more, the light blue fading away to amber as she slowly pulled her hand down.

“I…you’ll have to do better that Jedi I’m a Si…” her voice trailed off for a moment, amber eyes staring down at her red skinned hand in confusion for a moment before she straightened. “I’m staying right here.” She could still feel the Jedi trying to tear at her control, feel the subtle tug of war that pulled at her soul. Amber eyes glared down at the Jedi, the time for deception seemed to have passed it seemed. She span around, glancing behind her as she heard footsteps behind her, seeing one of the Padawan’s closing on their position as they approached from the stairs. Her hand dropped down to the Lightsaber at her side as she shuffled back towards Joon, “I…She…we’re not going anywhere.”

The unlit lightsaber leapt from her belt to her hand as she let a cruel smile touch her lips, "You all came here but now we've got you!" One red-skinned hand reached out, gesturing towards the dropships that were pouaring down as a feeling of dark satisfaction pulsed off the young woman. "You came rushing down and now you're caught in our trap! It's over, if you surrender then maybe we won't hurt you, well too much at least."

Amadis was no mental giant but that tortured display ahead of him was enough to give him his answer. "Right there."

Never before had Kei attempted to put two people into stasis at once. He’d long practiced this technique in duels and in combat, but this was the first area effect he’d attempt. Though it was possible it increased the difficulty factor significantly to concentrate on two lifeforms at once.

Into the nerve endings, through the nervous system, the impulses and their signals one with his own will. If they did nothing. Both women’s nervous systems may begin to dampen and dull, they may begin to feel sluggish and frozen in place. He’d not leave a tortured padawan at the hands of the Sith. There was no pain given here, there was just an unresponsive stun. Keeping the technique his sole focus, even at the expense of getting shot, he took a glancing hit on the arm which bit like fire. But he held the technique. Held because this was for someone else, and that was Kei’s force connection. Protective. It did give Joon a window to attack or break away possibly, but he redoubled himself on the padawan either way.

Noticing the many enemies landing down around them wasn’t exactly hard, things were going to get dangerous fast. He hoped the Jedi had stuck together and followed his advice.

“Pull everyone back to the shuttles. Level the temple if you can. But GET EVERYONE OUT” Amadis said firmly through his communicator. If they didn’t get help they wouldn’t last long down here, and that would mean another rescue.

~GRAB HER~ Though Kei’s mindspeak was weak, it was firmly pushed into the padawan’s mind [member="Novan Kolski"] . While he turned to see if the technique had held [member="Joon"] as well. There was definite sweat on his brow, the area of effect stasis had weakened him. Force-wise, Kei was continuing to focus on [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] even if he was attacked. First get her home, then they could sort out what had been done to her later on. Simple.

Battle Song
As glad as she was for the armor she'd chosen to wear, it wasn't nearly enough for Zavii's liking. It had already saved her from being cut and shot a few times (though she suspected that she mightn't have been hit without the armor, since it did restrict her just a bit), but it couldn't protect her mind from the micromomentary shock that came each time she ended a life.
Duck, spin, sweep his legs, swipe his chest. Five. Deflect, roll, thrust and stand. Six. Catch the blaster and fire; leg, hand, face. Seven. The mercenaries came in twos and threes, most continuing to fire on the others while their coworkers were cut down by the blood-spattered Zabraki woman. Several incoming pirates were suddenly distracted when the Human Jedi rushed one and used him as a kind of board to surf an invisible wave into the entrance. Good, now Novan wouldn't be alone in there. A ship screamed overhead and blasted a few pirates away. Good, this would demoralize them, at least until the drop pods started landing, spawning Sith troopers and acolytes like so many comets of fiery rage.

Zavii couldn't spare a glance to see what the new arrivals would do right away, as she had another pair of pirates bearing down on her. They had decided to each run in from opposite sides and with opposing strikes readied with their vibro-pikes so rather than deal with them directly, the Padawan jumped over one, kicked up the wall behind her and shut off her lightsaber to climb onto the balcony where Asaraa's body stood. Once she made it over the rail, she growled and dragged a hand down over her bloody face before looking the Togruta in the eye, since she now stood between her and the rest of the fight.

"Y'know we'll neve' give up! You ain't gettin' awaie frrom us! Not till we got Asarraa back!" Spotting the weapon in the Togruta's hand, Zavii drew out her own blade again and took a power stance, hoping to be ready for anything the body-snatching Sith might throw at her, but not wanting to hurt her friend if it could be at all avoided...

Novan had barely gotten to the top of the stairs when the Zabrak woman he'd met rocketed past him, taking care of business before his eyes. The shock of the spectacle threatened to take his mind off task - if this girl was just a Padawan, like himself, what wonders they would be capable of with more training... - before the cacophony of the drop ships rocketing overhead snapped his focus back where it needed to be. The Togruta was still on the edge of the battlement, standing still in the midst of the chaos.. With Zavii taking care of the pirates, it left Novan a golden opportunity to strike. One opportunity. A moment that absolutely could not be wasted. But without doubt, the single best chance they had to get her thus far.

Kei Amadis said:
~GRAB HER~
The order echoed in his brain, almost throwing Novan off. The Pantoran knew in his gut he hadn't actually heard the words being spoken, especially not with the chorus of war singing all around him. But he recognized the voice, he recognized the words, and he recognized the Force's work at play. He'd never been spoken to in such a manner before. But rather than confuse him, the Jedi Knight's order bolstered the young man's confidence, confirming what he knew when he rushed the gate; this was his moment, and the Force was with him. If it weren't, the Knight's words wouldn't have reached him.

The Togruta was still distracted. Novan rushed forward, letting the Force guide him to her; over one pirate, under another, sliding beside a gunman just seconds before Zavii's weapon cleanly cut through them. Meter by meter, Novan closed the gap, his physical awareness now snaking across the entire battlement until it felt like he could feel the bodies of each enemy combatant moving to either fight, flee, or fall. And among their number - twisted and confused - was the Padawan's own presence, intermingled with and tainted by something far darker, separate and yet unmistakably joined.

Novan's mind raced. Between the two mashed identities, telepathy was out; if Novan had the presence of mind to shield himself with the Force, then there was no doubt that the Togruta had done so as well, denying him the option of using the Force to shove her off the wall and into the Jedi's waiting arms or to mentally lasso her lightsaber into his hand. Taking her on was also less than ideal; even in her distracted state, the Togruta was doubtlessly far more skilled and far more powerful than he was. Even with Zavii and her lightsaber, any open confrontation with her was a death sentence. Distracting her by taking pot shots with his rifle not only carried the same problem of ending only in the Pantoran's death, but also ran the risk of hitting Zavii and ending her life as well. As the distance slowly closed, the options became more and more limited. And with less than a meter to go, yet another realization struck Novan with its simplicity.

He was thinking like a Jedi. It had taken him sprinting headlong into enemy territory by his lonesome to finally do so, but he had been thinking like a Jedi at last.

Perhaps he shouldn't be.

Novan dropped the rifle and drew the Force into himself as best as his limited understanding could. He dropped into a crouch, keeping his eyes squarely on the Togruta and hoping beyond hope that Zavii could keep her attention. His hope extended to those on the ground, and his prayers included the Jedi Knight that faced down Psycho Lady and the Jedi Knight with the Force shield, so that they might have the clarity of sight to see what was coming.

With one last silent prayer, Novan launched himself forward, his arms wrapping around the Togruta as his body slammed into hers, taking both of them off of the wall and falling to the ground below.

---x----x---

The pounding of footsteps on the parapet sent the Togruta spinning around, her hand reaching for the lightsaber at her belt, dark force surging out towards Novan as...nothing happened. Her body refused to move, to respond to her. As much as she pulled, strained at her body it was as if she were frozen, locked in as if frozen in ice. But that wasn't it, amber eyes danced down, glaring daggers at the Jedi master standing down beneath the fort with one hand outstretched. She could see what he was doing, what he had done but try as she might she couldn't seem to break free. The sith threw her full power at the Jedi, the dark aura rising around her as she threw her mind forward, or started to.

The Togruta felt a pair of arms wrap around her, jerking her forward off the fort. The surprise attack, the motion threw her, the aura she'd been building up sputtering and dying as the wind whistled past her head as the fell down towards the ground. A small smile touched her lips as she smirked at her captive, 'see we're not so different. Even your vaunted Jedi resort to sneak attacks'. Her taunt, however, fell on silent ears as she shifted, swivelling around in horror. The captive she'd taken so much pleasure in taunting was gone, silence her only companion as time seemed to stretch out, amber eyes flicking around in shock. There, just sitting on the rampart, the glint of a silver necklace sparkling on the floor where it had been thrown. She tried reaching out, for the necklace before they slammed into the ground, the air being driven out of her lungs as the impact drove her into the darkness of unconsciousness.

Zavii watched as the large Pantoran appeared behind [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] and rushed at her. Just before [member="Novan Kolski"] collided with the Togruta, she shut off her lightsaber and rolled out of the way, coming back up in a crouch just in time to see the pair disappear over the balcony's edge. In a flash the Zabrak stood up and looked over the rail, but instantly threw herself onto her back as two blaster bolts sizzled past her head.

Lying flat on the floor, she felt something under her back and sat up to find out what it was. A silver necklace with a strange pendant lay on the dirty floor. As soon as her hand touched the metal, Zavii could sense the real Asaraa's Song. Had the Sith somehow trapped her friend's spirit inside this amulet? No... there was a pull, as though the necklace was attached by an invisible string to something deeper in the ancient temple. With a quick glance outside at the raging battle, the Padawan took the necklace and rushed deeper into the building, following the strange signal to it's source. As she raced through corridors and down stairs, she could hear Asaraa's spirit calling out until she reached a room decorated with ancient runes and a stone altar in the center.

Atop the table lay the form of what looked a Human woman with pale skin and light pink hair, but somehow it felt like Asaraa. The Zabrak looked around the room for any danger before pocketing the necklace and moving forward to lift the woman's body. She still wasn't entirely sure what had happened, but Zavii was certain that she would need all the puzzle pieces to get Asaraa back...
