Faction Silver Jedi Order - Mission to Black Spire Outpost

Tags: Matsu Ike, Jairdain Ismet

Master Malcolm Ironmaster waited outside the Council chambers on Commonor, excited about the information he'd discovered on a Holocron that had come into his possession. In recent years, he'd become quite passionate about the idea of rediscovering and reopening High Republic era Jedi temples to help build community and trust with the people of the galaxy. While that responsibility largely fell to the New Jedi Order within the bounds of the Galactic Alliance, in the Outer Rim and the Unknown Regions, that mission was the responsibility of the Silver Jedi Order.

Malcolm had requested an audience with the Council and with Grand Master Matsu Ike for precisely this reason, but now he found that his excitement and nerves had given him a restless case of the jitters. "What is taking so long?" he asked under his breath as he fidgeted with the very Jedi Holocron on which he discovered the data he needed to locate the ancient Temple on Batuu, abandoned over a thousand years earlier. To avoid dropping the precious artifact, he set it down on a nearby table next to his hat and self-consciously smoothed down the front of his blue tabard and checked the peace binding securing his E-851 into its holster before adjusting his saber hilt as it hung from his belt.

The dissolution of the Concords government had let the silver jedi largely drift away. Instead becoming rebuilders of temples and they expanded. Creating temple on planets in other galaxies, other planes of the force and exploring mor eof the mysteries of the force or developing equipment for the jedi. THe councils themselves though remained and were slowly over time being rebuilt into something much stronger as the twelve councils of the jedi were overseen by the high council and above that the grandmaster remained at the ready to listen and offer advice. The High Plane of the jedi being the best place to come and meet them as the one named Malcolm could be allowed in. The high council and grandmaster sitting there on the seats in a circle. SOme of the strongest jedii masters for the order. "Welcome Malcolm Ironmaster Malcolm Ironmaster "

It was nice to get called into a Council meeting again. What seemed like only a short time ago for Jairdain had been years for others. She had visited her parents in the Netherworld and spent what felt like a few hours with them, only to return to a different Galaxy. Taking her place with the Grandmaster, she smiled at the other woman.

"It is good to see you again, Master Ike."

Turning her focus on Malcolm as he was invited to enter, she could see him through the Force. A man wanting to repair and rebuild a temple that had fallen into ruins on Batuu. A planet she had never been to, but even she hadn't been everywhere.

Listening to the various conversations of the other members, she had the feeling this mission would be supported. If she could join it, she would volunteer. This would not be the first temple she had repaired and probably wouldn't be her last.

The middle-aged Jedi Master smiled as he entered the Council chamber. "Thank you, Master Ike, esteemed Council members," he said, tucking his hat under his arm. His mode of dress was somewhat flamboyant or even foppish, but his demeanor was sincere. "Thank you for granting me this audience. In my travels, I've found a Holocron recorded by Master Krin Dagbard. After listening and studying their words, I believe I've found the coordinates for the abandoned Jedi temple near Black Spire Outpost."

He activated his personal holoprojector, showing a galactic map and zooming in on the Trilon sector in the Unknown Regions. "I realize that Batuu is on the opposite side of the galaxy from the Slice, where the Silver Jedi Concord historically operated, but establishing a Jedi presence on Batuu could help us build trust and community with citizens of the parts of the galaxy neglected by the Galactic Alliance."

Matsu sat there and listened.. her attention to what was happening for a moment. The council members were sitting there and the different heads of the other councils were listening to the proposal. Rebuilding another temple was never a bad thing... there was usually more then the initial benefits to rebuilding temple.... and the Black Spire outpost had some benefits for additional trade hubs. "The location maters little. We are not bound to a region of the galaxy anymore so we can move our forces and ships." The jedi master looked at the screen and had a small grin appeared on her face. "Tell us your plan for this restoration?" She said it and was bringing screens up to be seen as well as opening information for the latest equipment that they had developed for endeavors such as this.

"According to my research, around 950 years
go, an Ithorian named Dok-Ondar opened an antiquities shop in Black Spire Outpost," Malcolm began. "While it was well known in archaeological and smuggling circles at the time that he employed freelancers to obtain Jedi and Sith artifacts from across the galaxy, it was rumored that Dok-Ondar had stumbled across the location of the temple himself and had looted the ruins for anything of historical significance he could find, including some larger, harder-to-move artifacts. It is possible that some of those artifacts may still be there, in the custody of the current owners of the antiquities shop. If they are, reacquiring them could be a good start to restoring the temple to its original state. I've also reached out to the owner of a local scrapyard in Black Spire, Savi and Son Salvage, who happens to be the descendant of the original Savi. For nearly a hundred generations, they've maintained a tradition of seeking out relics of various Force traditions while they gather their scrap metal and usable starship parts. The current owner has indicated that her gatherers would be willing to assist if we are able to locate the temple."

If one thing could be said about Jairdain, it's that she didn't know the history of the Galaxy. So many of these names and places meant nothing to her. She listened to what was said and followed her decision to go along. All the bright and flashy technology meant even less to the blind Jedi. Remaining silent, she allowed Master Ike and Malcolm to have their conversation. Getting the history lesson was great, and she would do her best to remember the information.

She didn't like or approve of these ancient artifacts becoming available to the public, especially the Sith ones mentioned. That could be quite dangerous for everybody involved.

"What is the cost for us?"

It wasn't anything financial she spoke of but material. She had the feeling the owners wouldn't relinquish their hold on any items easily.

The Jedi Sentinel turned his attention to the blind Jedi. "That, Master Ismet, is the question, isn't it?" he said. "Quite frankly, I'm not certain how many artifacts from the Temple are even still there. Anything we cannot recover, however, can likely be recreated with enough resources and time. Perhaps the current owner of the antiquities shop might be willing to allow us to go over old invoices, but I'm not holding out much hope there."

He zoomed in closer to pull up a planetary map of Batuu, and then down to a local map of Black Spire Outpost. "I can check with black marketeers to see if any Jedi antiquities have turned up on the market, but we might also want to involve some of the locals in the restoration process to aid in forging ties with the community."

She listened and it was a good enough plan and questions to follow it.. if there were artifacts they could secure them and if they could follow what had been done possibly they might be able to find them. There was a lot they had after all and the temples list came up as she scrolled through it. "We can allocate some resources from the Economic watch temple in that region. It will be able to provide some of the initial supplies and the locals if they are willing can aid as well. We want to build it up and with our technologies available their quality of life can improve. The fabricators are good for the food, water and cleanign the airr as well as a few other things." SHe was thinking it and a few things over. "Hmmm we will want to establish some of our spires to do it correctly and we have been developing advances in our warning and detection systems. Those could benefit the planet as well."

Jairdain Jairdain , Matsu Ike Matsu Ike

"Batuu does have a long history of being a haven for smugglers and criminals," Malcolm said. "If it turns out that Black Spire is under the sway of a criminal overlord, do we get involved? Do we help the locals establish a democracy or representative democracy, or do we leave things alone?"

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
Malcolm Ironmaster Malcolm Ironmaster Jairdain Jairdain

"Involvement will be a different thing. As we are not a government holding territory in the galaxy... We do not have the forces to enforce and keep the citizens safe on the worlds. We can only help them to help themselves. Be it with our presence detering criminals or equipment like our fabricators and restoration tech." She said it while looking at the model of the outpost and adjusted it. THe hardlight projectors showing it and several of the councilors sat there going over it. "We should be able to bring a lot more and we have improved others. The Arisen will be able to maintain the temple and we can use the choushin to add it into the force network that has been created."

"So if we aid them in establishing a more equitable and just system of government to govern themselves, and provide them with material aid, the presence of Jedi in the Temple should build trust between the citizens of Batuu and our Order, creating a sense of community," Malcolm replied. "Our focus is obviously on rebuilding and restoring the Batuuan Jedi Temple, but helping the locals improve their infrastructure would potentially affect the entire sector." He highlighted a few landmarks in the map of Black Spire Outpost. "I'm thinking we should probably make contact with the locals in person by landing at either Docking Bay 5, here," he said, pointing at a landing pad surrounded by the ancient petrified trees called spires that the outpost is known for, before pointing at a structure in the center of the outpost, "or here, at Docking Bay 7. Both locations are within a short walk of the antiquities shop, the market souk, Savi and Son Salvage, and the local cantina."

Nodding as she listened to the answer given to her.

"What would the purpose of recreating them be? They likely wouldn't hold the same power."

Looking over old receipts and invoices wasn't something somebody blind would be much help with. She was not opposed to helping, though, and she didn't give this thought voice.

"Getting aid from the locals is usually the best course of action. This way, they can say they helped build a connection with us. Pretty much exactly what you said."

Sitting back in her chair, she allowed Master Ike to speak with Malcolm for a while. These rules and guides are best coming from the Grandmaster. She had been so long out of politics she might need to relearn some things. When she visited her parents, the Brynn were still a threat to Galaxy. Many things had changed since then, and Jairdain was left living in the past...just trying to catch up to the present.

"Just going off the description you have given, I think it best to go to Docking Bay 5. It's not in the center of things, easier to escape from, and we would be far less threatening. But I would defer to your knowledge."

"The artifacts that would be recreated or restored would be architectural pieces and statues, Master Ismet, not sacred relics," Malcolm replied. "While it has likely been a very long time since anyone on Batuu has encountered a Jedi, there is a certain aesthetic that many in the galaxy have in their minds when they think of the Jedi of the Old Republic, the High Republic, and even in the days leading up to the rise of the Empire. I do realize that such superficial things might not be terribly important, but perception determines reality, as Master Qui-Gon Jinn was fond of saying nearly a thousand years ago." He reached into his satchel and pulled out a leather-bound book. "As I was listening to the recordings of Master Dagbard on the Holocron, I found myself inspired to sketch out what I imagine the Temple on Batuu might have looked like. Perhaps I might have left an impression through the Force that you might be able to sense."

"Then there is a plan." She was looking at it and going with the docking bays would be helpful. The jedi seemed to already have knowledge of it more then the rest. "We'll have the Ataraxia head there." She said it while bringing up the course from the high plane as the charts from Batuu zoomed out from planet to system, to sector and then galaxy. The disc of the galaxy below the high plane as it sat there with the jedi councils chambers. "But we can use our gates to send an advanced scouting team." She said it while holding a hand up and the door opened with a purple haired woman walking in. The Choushin Biot approaching as she looked more plainly and was flanked by an Arisen. The blonde biot looking things over as it processed more information from their academy network in real time. "THey will be essential to the temple reconstruction the heart and lifeblood of the silver jedi's temples. what makes them one of the beacons within the force."

It was a simple misunderstanding of words and ideas. Malcolm quickly cleared this up, and she nodded in understanding. She remained sitting back but listened to the conversation. Times like this, she felt she needed to learn more, and history lessons were always nice, in her opinion. Her interest was perked when he said he had drawn something on paper. It was something she could work with, and she held out a hand to take the notebook.

Letting out an almost silent sigh when Matsu took them on the move, she wouldn't have the opportunity to tell her family where she was going. Sometimes, it was the price she had to pay to be in her position.

So much had changed, and this new technology was new to the Master, but she kept quiet as she explained what they did.

"I'd like to pack..."

If she could roll her eyes, she would have. Instead, she did her best to give Matsu a flat look.

Malcolm handed Master Ismet the journal so she could sense the images he'd sketched. The first was of the temple rising up from the surrounding forest, quite austere compared to temples on the core worlds, but still resplendent compared to the local structures of Black Spire Outpost or its surrounding communities. The other images depicted the interior of the temple, spartan by Jedi standards, but again, rather opulent compared to the local environs. It's no wonder that Dok-Ondar looted the temple nine centuries ago once he'd discovered it, if the rumors were true.

One of the interior sketches included some iconography not typical of Batuu, but rather something seen on Lothal, Tython, or even Seatos - stylized depictions of Loth-wolves and the Mortis Trinity. Perhaps the temple on Batuu concealed a doorway to the World-Between-Worlds?

As Master Ismet examined the sketches, Malcolm turned his attention to Master Ike. "I'll need some time to get packed. Will our transport have space in the hangar to accommodate my snubfighter?"

Her eyebrows went up at the two questions. "OF course if you need to pack." She looked at the other councilors as Mira Dejah sat there going over the reports and accessing trhe archives. the councilor of first knowledge for the jedi wasn't one to overlook things. Vaata Ver Riya sat there and was looking at it. "I would go with you, the planet might offer plants or species that could be beneficial to medicines but it is a dawning. my husband shall pass and I am already too far gone from him." Matsu looked at the sitting master, bare footed and tall compared to many she knew.. the life bearer had many husbands and as many wives... it was a strange extension but she remembered and cared for all of them.

"THen return Master Riya, see that he is cared for." She could see Arona Kae sitting there and going over the information as if Riya was the mountain of compassion giving a portion of her life energies to the sick and infirm... Arona was stoic and sharp. The Jedi Queen. "Should they be needed the jedi on Nibelungen will reinforce. We have three billion trained ready to march." That was certainly something... and the grandmaster walked as she looked at the woman offering a small smile. "It shall be fine Master Kae, I don't think we will need that many jedi.... hopefullly something really bad will have to have happened.... cause I know that is just the first wave that are standing ready. You have several trillion in that entire system."

There were nods and she was looking at Jairdain as she came over to look. "Hmmm we'll sending a team to The Antiquiem and look for any signs of a doorway. There might be a way to get in from the other side." She shrugged and looked over as Sor-Jan usually remained quiet and the jedi councils High Marshal Eternity was there. An alcove dedicated to him to be able to come and go but his head was at eye level enough as she spoke. "Any comments high marshal?" She was curious and he spoke with a mechanical grind to his voice but it was more clear. "The plan seems fair, we may want to send a small team of Iron Mongers to the surrounding area outside the port to patrol."

]It had been awhile since he had been to Commoner, but here he was. On the turbolift headed up to the Council Chamber. It was strange to be returning as it had been so long, but he was still a member of the Council (as far as he knew), so he had access codes. After all, it's not like Caltin was here to cause any issues, he was looking b to get a file our of the database in his chair. That file would serve to help both he and his son. Connel, it was a joy to see him out of recovery, but he seemed to be taking an “interesting” direction.

The codes swirled through the system and the door slid open into the vestibule. A smile crept across his face as memories started to rolling. It was enough to take his attention away from the three presences in the Force in the chamber. A momentlater, the massive Jedi Master walked in to see the three.

It's a party.

The comment made him chuckle.

Malcolm looked over to the door. "Master Vanagor, it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person," he said. "Are you joining the mission to Black Spire Outpost and the ancient Batuuan Temple? I'd be interested in hearing your opinions on the subject, and any suggestions on how to approach the restoration project."
