Spare Time? What's That?

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay wasn't around during the time of the Fringe. So of course she wasn't aware of his past dealings with the Republic.

To his comment, she could only smirk. "I do deal with both, in a way. Just because I hide my abilities from most, it doesn't make it any easier for me. I face enemies on all sides. It's quite stressful." Sith, Jedi, non-Force users, all of them dislike her choices for their own reasons. So she always had to be careful.

He had supposed that, really. Though if she made mention to the point, he'd certainly feel old. How long had -he- been around? How much had he done? His fighting days for the Republic, fighting in their warriors, ending their ways, dabbling in their politics, might be over. But he'd still done it. And he'd done far more of it then Lady Kay could ever possibly imagine. It wasn't something he was proud of. He'd helped a corrupt government do what they wished, in the name of the Jedi. But the Jedi had just been pawns, tools... Not partners.

Deep down he was glad the Republic was dead.

He would smile lightly at her response.

"I'm sure" He responded. Oh, she hadn't seen anything yet. But hopefully she wouldn't have to. "Just don't end up like I did with the Republic. Spending most of your life being used as a tool, for what you believe in."

"I'm my own boss, Josh. I'm not controlled by a Republic or any other government. Only my people have power over me when it comes to election time. But until then, I look after Commenor's needs."

She didn't plan on making Commenor a part of any other governing body. It had it's fair share already. Time for it to act on it's own.

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

He would smile, a bittersweet one, at her words. It sounded so much like what he'd thought before.

"So was I."

Yes, he'd been Grandmaster... He'd been his own boss and that should have been the end of it. But there was just so much then that... And he didn't fully realize it until he truly looked in the mirror at himself, then at his surroundings...

"I hope it's true. But sometimes... You just have to look in the mirror, at yourself, Kay. Look at everything around you, think long and hard... And consider who is truly in power. Aside from your people, of course... It's possible the answer just might surprise you."

He would turn and walk toward the window, looking out at Commenor...

"It's a pretty place, Commenor is. I hope you'll be able to do it well in the years to come" He would remark softly, with a light smile. "I don't doubt your ability, of course.. You're the best choice they could have made. But remember you're not alone in all this. A Queen alone may not be absolutely nothing... But the Queen alone may not be able to fix what those that work with her may wreck. It's your duty to see the flaws, the moles and the weak links in your system, and deal with them before they can cause problems that you can't fix. Problems that may change the people's decisions, and in that vein... Change the flow of power."

He let out a sigh.

"Because people... Are easily manipulated. All it takes, Kay... Are words.

Sometimes... Sometimes you have to take action to show them the truth, before someone else can deceive them.

Deceit... Lies, manipulation... And the easy to manipulate nature of the masses... Yes, even within the Jedi..."

He closed his eyes a moment.

"... That was my downfall. That was how I fell from the top, to nothing... And how an Order that I loved so much, put my entire life, my heart, my very soul into...

.... Died."

Kay raised a brow as [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] suggested that she look in the mirror. If she wasn't the boss of herself, then who was? What was it that he wanted her to see?

Then his tone changed. He was warning her about threats from within. She furrowed her brows as she ran through all of the different people working for her. "I got rid of all of those from the previous government that didn't approve of me winning the election. No one has tried to manipulate me or get me to do anything that I don't want to do. And besides, Commenor has no enemies. Only I do. But the Hutt Cartel has no power in this sector."

He would nod his head slowly at that. "You certainly dealt with it with swifter prejudice then I ever could have... But that was my issue. I was too soft. Too trusting. You have to get rid of people quickly if you have a feeling about them, I learned."

He smirked faintly. A bittersweet one.

"It's a shame I learned that lesson too quickly."

The Jedi would let out a sigh as he looked back at Lady Kay. "A long time ago, a Jedi Master and her patsy, another Master, stood in our chambers and called a vote of no confidence. She spoke words that held no real weight, she spoke words that were nothing but falsehoods and bull. But she spoke them in a way that made people think that she was on their side, that she was doing what was better for them. Funny, that the patsy was working with a Sith the whole time... But in the end, they got what they wanted. Many followed behind them voting against me, many who had never even met me. They didn't know me, they didn't know my work... All they knew was the words she spoke and her pretending to stand for them and a better future. And they listened. They gave their votes blindly. They followed the words of someone they hardly knew, for the sake of their words because they were tricked into believing them for fact.

And the worst part of it is... There will always be more. You can wipe out as many of your enemies, as you wish... There will always be more. It's a neverending process from the day you take power, until the day that you leave or die. This job becomes one not just about success... But about survival. How long can you go before someone uses your soft side against you? Uses your methods against you? Uses the people that you work to make the best for... Against you?"

He would shrug his shoulders as he leaned against the window. "It'll never end, Kay. The question is if you'll be quick enough to stamp it all out before they get you. And the ones that do end up getting you might not even be the obvious ones."

With that, he seemed to feel a subject change was in order as he would let out a breath, thinking topics over a moment before seeming to find one...

"Say... I just realized something. Is Kay your first name? Or your last? What's your full name anyway? I've only ever called you Lady Kay."

Kay just stared off into nothing while [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] spoke. Her brows were furrowed as she was deep in thought, picturing the events that he spoke of. She had seen and been involved in similar situations. Those with silver tongues were crafty indeed. But she's been known to have one too. She had sweet talked many into siding with her and the only selfish reasons for that were when someone tried to catch her for her bounty, or otherwise tried to hurt her. There were times where she had failed, but most of the time it worked. Otherwise she wouldn't be here today. And with the earlier assassination attempt on her, clearly there were hearts and minds that she still needed to win over.

Josh changed the subject. It took a moment for her to realize that before she focused on him again. "Huh?...Oh. My name is Kay-Larr. Just Kay is fine though. I don't expect people to always be so formal with me."

He had been serious for quite a bit. Sure, he didn't like to be in these instances, but... She was the Queen of Commenor, a former Senator of the Republic. He was a Jedi Master, a former Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, a former Grand Admiral of the Republic. They were serious people... It was inevitable that they were going to talk serious about things, even if just for a bit. But he tired of the serious talk... He got enough of it at work. He gave Kay her warning, and she'd be able to do whatever with it. So when the topic would change to her name, he would find himself smirking faintly.

"Kay-Larr, huh? Cute name" He would tease, letting the joke sink in for a moment... And then finally bursting out into laughter as the tension from the serious talk was finally cut.

Kay wasn't a Queen yet. That would come later. Right now she was the President.

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"] soon started laughing after he learned of her full name. She smirked and gave him a bit of a shove. "Hey, it's not that funny. Could of been worse. At least it's something easy to pronounce." Not that Josh's name was difficult. But there were others that were.

Oh right, whoops. But he couldn't help but laugh even harder as she shoved him, so what did he do in return? He would wrap his arms around Kay-Lar, and begin to TICKLE the President! Seriously, tickling a President, what would he do next? I mean, okay... So intimacy with authority figures wasn't new. He'd been sexually confronted by an at-the-time Supreme Chancellor, and Shmi had been his boss when they'd gotten together. But this was harmless tickling.

"Hey, it's true I suppose, Kay-Lar! I mean, it could be Kay Klabloobabloooobbleeejabaah!" He would joke, laughing a little harder at that as he continued to tickle her.

"Don't ask me about how I managed to pronounce that one. I won't be able to do it again."

Gah!!

Kay tried to wriggle herself out from his tickling, all the while trying to protect her ribs from his fingers, but [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] was quite relentless. Still she tried, pushing and shoving, laughing all the way until she finally began trying to tickle him back. At this moment she wasn't sure if Josh was ticklish or not.

These two had such an odd friendship.

Strange indeed. But no surprise for them at this point. He was relentless alright, and he was going to make sure she knew it! Laughing all the way, he would try to shield his own spots, trying to keep her from tickling him herself. Was he ticklish? Or was he not? Well, he wasn't planning to let her find out! Maybe if he wasn't, he would let her win after a long struggle just for a moment... Only to realize that he wasn't ticklish at all. Oh the evil plans, the possibilities!

Either way, he would manage to grab her hands, causing a momentary ceasefire as he would shoot her that cheeky grin, while he took every moment possible to plan...

A ceasefire of sorts. Oh how her tummy needed a break from all the laughing. Not to mention the rest of her was all tensed up from trying to resist his tickling. Her laughter subsided as she tried to catch her breath.

"Okay, okay, you win. Give me a break before the nurses come in and kick you out." She stuck out her tongue. Afterall she was supposed to be resting.

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"]

"Oh, alright. I accept your unconditional surrender" He would crack, shooting her a cheeky grin in turn as he would slowly release her hands. His guard stayed up throughout, as though he just -knew- she was going to try and get him while his guard was down. He'd played this game. He'd played this game many times. He wasn't going to let her get the best of him if she tried, oh no.

Sticking his tongue back at her, he would back up and go back to sitting down. "They wouldn't actually kick me out, would they?" He joked, chuckling in turn.

Kay sat further back on her bed as soon as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] released her hands. She smirked as he insinuated that she was surrendering. Hardly. He was just taking advantage of her being injured. How typical.

To his question she shrugged her shoulders a bit. "It's very possible, especially if they believe that I should be sleeping. You wouldn't want to get on their badside, lest they bring out the worst foods to eat."

He couldn't help but laugh a little at that. Nah uh, she had definitely surrendered! He saw her! She said it, she was done, she gave up! She surrendered! But he would relax back with his arms behind his head, letting out a yawn in the process as he would let her pretend as though she hadn't been giving up just before. He recalled, and I quote, "You win" coming right from her mouth. If that wasn't a surrender, he wouldn't know what was. She had surrendered, he had won this tickle war, and nothing could change that!

But he would smirk a bit in turn when she would proclaim that they'd bring out the worst foods to eat if they got on their bad side. "Well, it's good that you're the patient and not me then" He would joke, chuckling a bit once again. "I'll have to make sure to visit again soon. It seems like I happen to show up just as someone tries to kill you. I'd hate to miss an appointment and find out you got shot while I was out Jedi'ing somewhere" He would joke in turn.

Kay smirked at [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] being perfectly fine with her being given bad foods. Yeah, she'll remember that when it was time for another picnic.

And another smirk as he joked about assassination attempts, as though that was a normal thing for her. "Ha! Either that or people only try to kill me when you're around. I guess that means that you could be a bad luck charm." She stuck her tongue out at him like always.

He could only turn and stick his tongue out at Kay in turn. "Bad luck charm? Me? Why Kay-Lar, look at all the memories we've had together! I couldn't possibly be bad luck if we've had all those times together, no?" He would tease, shooting her a cheeky grin in response. "Besides, it wouldn't account for the times you got yourself in trouble that I wasn't around for, and that I ended up having to bail you out after somehow managing to get there in time to keep you from being sliced and diced and grilled into sushi" He would point out with a laugh.

Seriously though, he'd bailed Kay out how many times now? Sometimes when he wasn't even on the planet when she called him. Honestly, what was she going to do if she called him one day and he was lightyears away? No bad luck would lead to how she'd managed to be so lucky for so long the last while, after all.

Kay just had to smirk and stick her tongue out at [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] once again. And then she laughed. He was right of course. She got into trouble more so than she should. But it was always for the right reasons, however some of it just wasn't her fault. Sometimes all that she had to do was go for a ride in the canyons and trouble would find her. But that was more or less as a result of her past actions. At least her father wasn't looking for her at all. And she was glad that he didn't have the state of mind to hunt her down and destroy her. Instead he just wanted nothing to do with her.

"Okay fine. Sure. As if you NEVER get into trouble. I'm sure that you're just squeaky clean and spend your time rescuing me. Maybe I should hire you." She laughed, knowing full well that he had more important things to do than to be around her day in and day out.

"I get into trouble... Thing is, I usually get myself out of it" He would tease, laughing in turn. "Well except this one time this alien woman on Zeltros dragged me into the bathroom... Actually, wait I DID get myself out of that one... I pretended I preferred the company of men!" He joked, with a laugh. Though he thought back on it a moment and squinted, scratching his head. "No, wait... That wasn't it. I tried that, she didn't believe me. Let's see... I acted like the joke flirting was a cheeky front... Didn't work. Said I was gay... Didn't work. By the Force, what did I do to get out of that... Hmm... Oh man, I know I got out of that one somehow. Thank the Force I did too, I heard she used the DNA out of a bunch of Force sensitives she slept with to make some super Force child or something... Luckily I got out of that one-OH! I remember now!" He piped up.

"I remember saying I had a girlfriend, who while she was fine with the flirting, I still didn't want to cheat on. I even made up a fake name and everything" Josh would add, starting to laugh. "Man, what was the fake name again..."

His eyes grew big a moment as he seemed to realize, and then he started to laugh a bit harder.

"Oh right... I used yours. Funny that. Please don't kill me, I was intoxicated... Zeltros blend spiked, you know the drill. It'd been years since I'd been on the planet so my tolerance wasn't like it used to be. Had just enough coherence to make up bullchit.

Granted, I only said "Kay"... Didn't give a surname, just a first. But that was apparently the first thing to pop up."

Shooting her a grin, the bout of smartassery could be seen coming a mile away.

"Now that you know my secret, you'd never hire me now" He joked. Indeed, most of the story was true... Though he was joking about using her name. He couldn't remember who's he used and he had been faking the look of surprise when he "realized" and all that. Truthfully, he just used that twist to amuse her a little more. She needed the cheering up after the events of today.

Of course he was just teasing and messing around. He didn't doubt the intent of what she did. Even if she did get into trouble far too often for someone who wasn't a Jedi.
