Such A Pity (SSC Dominion of Boz Pity)

7/25

They were getting some work in, all of the work from the others provided them a nice place to work on things. Able to work on the different parts as they came in behind watching some of the ones fighting. She pointed with her hand for them to start clearing space and setting up the unit for the crystal to power it. They had been working on the composition so it could take the energy they send into it from the gincho generator for now to test. The energy dissipating as she motioned for the ones using the necklace crystals to drop it and she spoke. "Shielding unit going up." She was hoping it would work perfectly and make a nice look from the surface for the fleets in space to see. She was looking towards enclosing the area when it groaned. The machinery activating while the golden light shot up into the air and was slowly going down around the hospital ships and factory ships to keep them safe while [member="Connor Harrison"] worked on the artillery. "Construction ships are shielded."

Matsu looked out and they were making a lot of the work with fighters, she almost frowned but was all for ahndling dangerous enemies in a way that made sure they wouldn't endanger the sanctum. "Careful careful." They had taken some time to work on imbuing some more of the talismans with a nod of her head, letting the force energies focus until they were outside and with the ships cradlled the droids could work and operate in construction efforts taking some of the pressure off the jedi and rangers that were there with them. The graves and dead things they could work with as the shield came up to protect them. Barriers being brought around to protect several area's and funnel anything coming at them into the lline of fire from auto turrets and soldiers. Construction of the walls and clearing pathways for foot traffic to move around. "Bring out a few of the Jun-La's and test the talismans while we are moving forward with our experiments. Then secure the area for the others to get reinforcements and resupplies."

Pirates Canyon

Aquila's torpedo took the walker as Connor issued the charge. The Coalition Rangers moved up and did their thing. Supported by their Jedi comrades and the raging magics at their command. If the Pirates had been winning before? No. They sure weren't anymore.

It was funny too. Prinn didn't remember having to do anything but run either. She kept pace, nodded to the incoming fire, and frowned as the pirate's lines broke almost immediately. She gave a mind to her distance with Master Harrison and watched her breathing. Letting the aches and pains of her own body fall into the background. The Force gave her a new mindset and new inertia. Letting the world of fire and smoke drift downwards nearer her feet. As if she was running above the canyon, and not inside it. An ethereal place where the battle became a video game and not a sweat-filled conflict of pressure and pain. Here... The light of the setting sun was always gold. Always glowing. And it would always lead it's heroes home.

Prinn found herself simply walking past the burning barricade as the Rangers flooded past. Graceful as the eye of the storm. She watched like a statue as the soldiers stamped ahead. Guns blazing. Noting their strained faces with naught but a squint to her eyes. They were chasing the pirates now. Driving them like sheep back into their base. Brave brave soldiers. Rushing headlong into the skirmish as the sound of war erupted all around. Yet Prinn remained shaded in her own stone-like stillness. Her mind lingering above the battle and not echoing within. At peace. At calm. Finding herself as the anchor to another world.

Yet, unsure of where a Jedi goes from here.

Very swiftly it was over in space. The last pirate frigate, raked from the rear had its engines shot out. Soon enough it let out a broad hail that it surrendered.
After that, it was easy pickings. The pirates had eventually figured out the Starfighters were illusions, only to have the real ones slice into their ranks at the right moment.

One of the pirate corvettes escaped, the rest swiftly surrendered before they were wiped out.

“Great job, Nikias!” Nantaris called over the comm. “Get some boarding parties to secure the pirate vessels. I’m going to make sure everything is clear, then bring in the construction ships.”

The next goal was the construction of a powerful military station over Boz Pity to act as a fleet dock and defensive bastion.

He offered a mental toast to Sumiko Tanaka, and privately hoped she never turned against them!

The battle in the canyon was starting to wind down. The last pirates had placed their hope in the walker, but now it was ruined, and the rangers and Firemane troops were spilling forward.

All around the pirates were throwing down their weapons and surrendering.

Soon the only resistance was coming from a large warehouse at the far end of the Coalition advance. There snipers and entrenched pirate elites were firing on anything which was coming near.

Tempest took cover behind a barricade. She heard Abaigeal’s request.

“Understood, Aba. Don’t go in alone, wait for backup,” she advised. “Connor, warehouse probably has the pirate’s loot. We want to take it without destroying it if possible. All Coalition forces, wait for my signal.”

She looked to Elpsis who was presumably nearby. “I’ll blow the doors, try and burn out those snipers on the roof, but be careful. I’ll have the troops give you covering fire.”

Obligingly, the Firemane troops moved forward and fired their bolters, aiming for the roof of the sturdy warehouse. Tempest meanwhile summoned her powers, calling on a bolt of telekinetic power even Siobhan might approve of, and set it at the heavy durasteel doors of the warehouse, to burst them open like a charging reek had struck them.

Heavy blaster fire came their way from the warehouse. A cry of pain was heard when a Firemane trooper was cut down by a sniper's bullet before being dragged into cover by a comrade. Taking cover behind barricades, Firemane troopers unloaded bolter fire upon the roof of the sturdy warehouse. Screams, explosions and so on ensued. While Tempest followed in Siobhan's footsteps by tearing through a durasteel door as if it were paper, Elpsis focused and gathered the Force inside her.

Power swelled up inside her as she called upon her kindred element, and, emerging out of cover while bolter fire pinned down the snipers, she raised her hands and jets of flame leapt from them The boiling hot streams shot through the air towards the roof, producing burning pirates as they swept across it like a fiery broom.

Elpsis took a deep breath, then suddenly felt a terrible pain surge through her abdomen when an armour-piercing slug round sliced through her armour and she fell to the ground, for though tutaminis was wonderful against blaster fire, it did nothing against kinetic rounds. Blood seeped out of the wound inside her stomach and coated her armour.

Even parking in the shadow of this durasteel memorial, this sleeping giant, it was still a three kilometer walk to find a good point of entry into the wreckage. Testing the carbon wire for a secure hold, the small Jedi climbed the line supplied by way of an ascension gun. Which, was no small distance in or of itself, making this quite the Olympic event. Perhaps the hangar would be flooded, and they would make this a proper triathlon.

Thankfully, the hangar appeared to be quite dry.

Pulling himself up, the young Anzat had to be careful not to slide across the sharply angled deck. The familiar sight of ARC-170 starfighters were clumped together in heaps of twisted metal, ripped from out of their berths and forged into mangled, misshapen forms by the force of impact. Turning, the boy squatted down as he helped the other youngling up.

Crossing the hangar carefully, trying to control the inevitable skid across the smooth metal deck plating, the Anzat navigated toward the main corridor. On his ship, the Star Destroyer Sentinel, they'd referred to that hall as Main Street. If memory served, there was a dedication plaque to the ship posted there, as it was the most commonly trafficked part of the ship, and the passage through which those distinguished visitors to the ship would inevitably pass in their coming and goings.

The brass was shrouded by a thick layer of dust. Taking the hem of his sage colored robe, the small boy used his sleeve to try and buff out the piece as he stood on the tips of his toes. When he'd brushed most of the dirt away, he stepped back to look at the plate in the light. "This was the Intervention," Sor-Jan uttered softly. Eyes darting to either side, the boy found himself trying to recall the different units of the Open Circle Fleet. "This was..."

"The 501st Legion," the young clone cadet supplied meekly.

Looking up at the other boy, the small Jedi just nodded. "That would make this Skywalker's ship," the Anzat remarked, at last able to put a Jedi name with the ship. Which didn't explain what it was doing buried in the surface of the planet. "But how in the world did this happen?"

Tegaea Alcori

Back to Square One
11/25

The pirates were making their last stand, but already the Coalition was moving in to setup defences.

Whilst Nantaris operated in space to set up a strong starport, on the ground Tegaea had arrived to supervise the creation of a land-based fortress.

The key to any land defence was protection against aerial and orbital bombardment, so Tegaea had devised a three-tier system of shields.

The smallest would enclose a single fortress, the middle could enclose all of these individual fortresses, and finally a theatre shield which would cover a 50km zone from orbital bombardment. Anything entering these zones would be open to firepower from within the base. It would also possess several Tempest cannons to fire at orbital targets.

If Eldorai had been around, the surrendering pirates would've probably been slaughtered. At least if Taldir had been running things since the woman had the personality of an unyielding ice block. However, that wasn't the case.

Boarding crews secured the pirate vessels and processed corsairs into captivity, Firemane was busy setting up ground-based defences planetside. Back on the ship, with her task done Sumiko dissipated the two spectral fighters that were still existing and withdrew from her Dark Side immersion. She was breathing heavily, baked in sweat and feeling tired.

She quickly bandaged the cut in her hand, then ordered some Atrisian tea. It better be brewed the way she liked it and have the expected amount of sugar. Otherwise she might get mightily cross.

Ducking a pirate’s blind swipe with a knife, Connor made swift work with a knee to the gut which sent the brute down at the exact moment a swarm of Coalition fighters raced overhead, breaking in formation to secure the skies. The battle was theirs.

"I love it when a plan comes together,” he said to himself.

Turning to the Rangers and Jedi behind him, he pointed to the smoking barricade ahead.

"Secure that barricade and rendezvous with the other ground forces!”

They moved fast, running past the smouldering walker, now engulfed in flame and black smoke. Connor lifted his arm to hear the incoming communicae from @Tempest. He slowed, looking up ahead to a fortified warehouse hiding almost in the canyon wall.

"On my way,” he said.

Breaking into a steady run, counting on the Rangers to secure the flailing pirates, and dodging the odd lazy shot of blaster fire from above, Connor saw the warehouse ahead as he came closer, figures outside and streams of fire and smoke.

It took him a few minutes to keep the pace, and unbuttoned his shirt collar to let some air, countering the warm air. But ahead, he squinted as he was sure a Sanctum member went down. He picked up the pace, signalling for a Ranger across the way who had seen Connor to follow. Someone had been hit - [member="Elpsis Kallikora"].

The doors had been blasted open and the warehouse was now the next target, but the girl was wounded from a sniper shot. Connor knelt and looked up and around, and called out without taking his eyes off the high ground.

"Solider, find that sniper and take him out! And get me a medic quickly!”

He looped his hand under the girls arms and quickly, but carefully, dragged her out of the line of fire she had been in towards the canyon wall. Surveying hey body and the seeping blood, he had to act fast. He placed a hand over the wound and pressed gently, focusing to do what he could to stem the flow at least.

"It’s ok. You’re alright – tell me your name? Who are you with?”

Keep her talking, keep her talking.

Unfortunately for Audren, it was clear that the freighter's pilot was experienced. The ship began turning almost as soon as the missiles were launched, and as the two got closer clouds of glittering metal were suddenly visible, along with bright dots that trailed smoke. Chaff and flares, a simple yet effective response to missiles. One of the projectiles was perforated by too many pieces of chaff and exploded, but the other managed to contact the freighter's shields and do some damage there.

At the same time, Audren became aware of a sort of pressure. It was similar to the sense of warning he got when someone was shooting at him, close enough that he had reason to believe it was the same situation, only felt more like something narrowing to a pinpoint. Right as that pinpoint was achieved, he twitched the yoke. Twin laser cannon bolts caromed off his shields, but follow-up shots missed. Then started the narrowing again. It must have been the gunner drawing a bead on him. Rather than allow that to get closer, his right foot mashed on its pedal and took the starfighter in a curve to the right - starboard, as it was called. Only it wasn't just a curve to starboard, he course corrected back to port seconds afterward. The whole time his altitude was rising while the freighter's was lowering, and right around that left turn they were equal.

A slight course correction put the Sephi directly to the rear of the freighter. This kind of flying wasn't all too difficult, a starfighter - even a large one - versus a lumbering freighter was no contest. A rear turret opened up on him with a spray of bolts, but he retaliated with his forward-facing cannons, chewing into weakened shields. The last few shots penetrated, one of them silencing the turret.

"Pirate freighter, I will accept your surrender."

"Coalition starfighter, we have slaves on board. It'd look bad if you were to shoot down a ship full of innocent slaves."

"We're alone here, freighter. No outside holocams to carry the message."

That claim was pure bluster, Audren couldn't shoot down a ship full of slaves unless there was no other choice. But he had senses beyond his sensors. A Force scan turned up none of the despair he'd come to associate with slaves, just a sense of ruthless determination, fear, and anger. No slaves. Meanwhile the pirate was talking again.

"Yea, but you're all good and caring. What will your friends thing?"

"That might be a problem if you actually had slaves on board. You have ten seconds to lower shields and power down weapons."

"Or what, you shoot us down?"

"That's the general idea. Seven seconds."

There was a click as the comm channel was closed, then the freighter pushed down sharply. Well, as sharply as it could. The bottom - ventral, he had to start getting those right - turret blasted away, but the Knight just allowed his ship to level off for a second and rose above the shots. He then inverted and switched weapons to his own turret. Ion bolts ripped through the freighter's shields, but only two of them impacted with any real effect. The freighter abruptly slowed and stopped shooting, and the Hathol overflew it before Audren could get back around on its tail.

It became clear that the ship was having trouble. One engine was flickering in and out and there was a sense of panic overtaking the crew. Shields were down, no weapons moving that he could see. Slowly, very slowly, the larger ship began to level off, and though it kept moving towards the ground the projected landing point was nowhere near the base or Coalition forces. Finally, the comm channel opened back up. A different voice sounded.

"Coalition fighter, is your offer of surrender still open? If so, we surrender."

"It is. Continue on your current course and land. Power up weapons or shields at any time and you will be destroyed."

The freighter acknowledged and flew until it landed, a good hour's walk from Coalition forces. Once it was on the ground, the Sephi pumped three more ion blasts into the vessel, grounding it, and called in the location to the ships in orbit. They could send someone to take the pirates prisoner. Meanwhile, he headed back towards the pirate base to see where he could help out next. If nothing came up, he might try to figure out where that third ship had gone off to, and where it had come from.

SSC Medical Frigate Alva
A Full Recovery
p8

Karen woke up in a med bay feeling a little woozy and sick to her stomach. She flickered her eyes open with a wink and breathed in deeply of her white glossy surroundings. That smell was all to familiar too. Did all doctor's offices smell that way? Like a sterile kitchen with all new plastics. Ugh. Nevermind. Her back was stiff and her toes were tingling. Yet, everything else seemed attached and basically in order. Funny. She couldn't quick remember why she was here though.

Outside the window a familiar Melodie pilot was talking with the medical droid on staff. The doctor sat at his desk in the office suite and appeared to be the only other person in the room. All the other beds were empty. Good news maybe? Hard to say when you can't remember this vessel either. So Karen sat up and rubbed her eyes.

"Hello Master Roberts?" Anna Song smiled as she walked in the door.

"Um. Hello. Mm. How long have I been out?"

"About forty minutes. Doctor Glass wanted to run a full neural scan after we removed the bandage."

"Oh?.."

The middle-aged Doctor arrived at her bedside and checked the bed's computer. He was Zeltron by the look of him. Clean shaved with a man-bun of perfect purple hair. He licked his lips as he flipped through the photo images of her bed scan,

"Everything checks out. Dispite suffering a traumatic crash on a foreign planet? You appear fine in all areas. Your helmet and harness must have done their job. I expect you'll make a full recovery in two days time. Until then the drugs will probably leave you feeling a bit tired. Just until they leave your system."

Karen waved him away and closed her eyes,

"Don't bother. I'll purge them from my system now."

She used a meditation trance and focused on body control. Locating the foreign oils and purging them from her lifestream. Returning herself, and her sense, back to normal. Ahh... Much better. The tingling and stiffness disappated rather nicely. Much better.

Anna nodded to the Doctor,

"She's one of us."

"Yes. Of course. It's in the medical profile. ...Still? Never get used to that. ...Anyway. You're free to go miss. Try to stay out of trouble."

Karen smirked and past a wiry grin to Anna,

"Pfft. Don't count on it."

Anna folded her arms against her chest and let some of the other crewman pass. With the Fleet battle over and the ground forces victorious, neither woman was in any hurry to rush back to work. So they lingered outside the connection hall for a moment as Karen read the Battle Overview via Datapad. The Melodie woman sighed and leaned her blond head against the wall,

"You're going to have to teach me that trick sometime. I don't think I've ever seen someone purge their body of chems before."

"Only works when you're lucid. Terribly hard to do when your compromised and spinning. I can't really recommend it."

"Still. Seems handy."

"Just... Things you pick up as you go."

Karen didn't seem interested in talking. Her eyes glanced over the Battleview with a frown on her face. Old habits die hard, I suppose. Anna busied herself by chilling.

"You think you'll ever come back to the Order?"

Roberts paused and looked up at the girl. Doing her best to remember her name.

"Song right? Mas Petra's Apprentice."

"That's right. Didn't figured you know little old me?"

"I've met Mas before. Cute woman. A little too Zeltron for me. Tried to seduce me right then and there."

"Yeah. Sounds like Petra. She's... Well. She's like that."

Karen smirked and looked at the mermaid with a clever grin. Passing on the thought and returning to the question.

"Do I think I'll ever return to the Silver Order? No. Not really."

"Why not?"

Song held a hint of sadness in her pleasant voice. Karen could even sense it over her posture. Melodie. Such a strange species. Even if Anna had already shifted into her full human form years before.

"Because I made my husband a promise. No more drama. ...Hehe."

"Oh. ...I see. Guess that figures."

"Mm. And how about your promise?"

"Oh?"

"To Mas, of course. Have you made up your mind yet?"

"I... Ah. You're browsing my thoughts, aren't you."

Karen smiled again, "Maybe just a little."

"Mmm. ...Well. It's not as easy as I thought it would be. Not as black and white as it first appeared."

"And the Knight Trials?"

Anna shrugged, "They can wait. My combat missions are pretty light anyways. I've only got two sorties. Counting this one too."

"Well. Give it time. No need to rush."

"Hehe. Easy for a human to say. We fishes don't tend to live as long as you."

"Is that right? Mm. I never knew that. Interesting."

...

They grew quiet again as more crewmen past through the corridors. The construction ships were already moving in-system to begin the construction efforts. Thusly, manpower amongst the Fleet was shifting assignments already.

"Walk with me." Karen shrugged. Motioning for Anna to follow.

Together they would head to the Hanger and back to Song's ship. Enjoying the moment to just chat and be free. The gears were turning yes. But for now? Mm. The mission could wait.

They could make a little girl time.

Disney's Princess
Reclaimed Pirate Barricade
Idle Thoughts
p10

Prinn sat down. With her back against the broken metal. Letting the dust rise and fall over the barricade. Enjoying the silence. Enjoying not being seen.

Emma wasn't much of a warrior and she knew that. She fought because she felt she was supposed to fight. She fought because fighting is what Jedi do. When the bad guys are everywhere and peace lasts shorter than a week on the frontier, what else is there but to fight. Yet. For all her thoughts turning to war, and battle, and stopping the next pirate incursion into friendly territory? She couldn't help but feel that her destiny was a wasted one. A futile one indeed.

So as the dust settled on the edges of the battle, Prinn took some time to just be alone with her thoughts. Sitting down and meditating upon her feelings. It didn't matter that it was on the barricade or that a dozen dead bodies were within her present eye-sight. She was starting to feel a bit numb to that kind of thing too.

She did blink however when a new voice broached the silence.

"...You did okay Rookie. Not bad."

A Ranger approached the base of the barricade. He lit himself a cigarette and took his sweet time doing it. Looking up at Prinn and against the evening sky. He seemed... Familiar somehow.

"I'm sorry. Have we met?"

"Sure have. ...Just now. By the canyon back there. Pulled your ass out from the line of fire there. ...Heh. You Jedi don't remember soldiers very well. Do you?"

Prinn pulled her knees up to her chest and let the comment roll against her shoulders. Not off them. She seemed to be retreating now. Deeper into herself and below. Letting the sadness of war wash over her. She didn't real feel his comment. Not like most people would, anyway.

The Ranger hoped up on the metal deckway and continued his arrival. Prinn just continued to stare off into the distance.

"Cig?" He asked.

"Mm? Oh. No thank you."

He took a seat next to her. A grizzled veteran with dark black hair and a short goatee. His eyes were always squinting and his chin was broad and strong. Handsome for a dog of war. If you can call cold steel handsome. Most just found the metal unappealing. This Ranger looked at the sky and blew out a long puff. As if he already knew what Emma was thinking about.

"You ever look at the clouds and wonder what their thinking?" He asked.

"Hmm? Oh. No. Not really."

"See that one there. Looks like an Astro-droid to me. I'll bet he's thinking... Boy. Wish there was oil buried in this desert. I'd bath in it for weeks, ya know."

Emma shrugged and nodded. It wasn't really a good comment. But she got the idea. Sometimes you need to relax. Take a breather.

"Are you trying to make me feel better Sergent?"

"Lieutenant. ...And no. I'm trying to keep a Rookie from calling it quits in her first battle."

"Oh really?"

Prinn gave the man a look of shear disbelief. He didn't seem intimidated by her magical powers in the least. In fact, he just sat there. Smoking a cigarette while the whole world around him pasted into smoke and legend.

"Yep. You don't seem the veteran type to me." He pointed out to Connor and the others, "See those magi? Those are veterans. ...You? Nahhh. Not so much."

"And what gives you that idea? That I'm not a veteran?"

"Call it... A soldier's intuition."

"You mean when I screamed for my life back there in the tunnel. Pehhh."

He smirked and looked back at the sky.

"Well. Maybe a little of that too."

The Lieutenant gave Prinn a smile and a slap on the ol' shoulder,

"You did good Rookie. Don't let it get to ya."

Then eh stood up and gave a nice long stretch to the setting sun.

"Welp. I should get back to it then. ...Good luck kid. Knock em' dead, yeah."

"Yeah..."

Prinn held her knees close to her chest and said it quietly to herself. Knock em dead. Exactly. The Ranger just shook his head and smirked. He'd said enough. She and her Force God would be fine. Or?... Maybe not. Never hurts to try though. Bah. He rolled his shoulders and put out his smoke. Hopping back down from the high wall and into the dirt of Boz Pity. Nodding to himself and to the hardship left still to come. He was good with it. He was jaded just right.

Welp. Another day, another dollar. He grabbed his rifle, slipped his pack back into his vest pocket, and went back to work.

...

Prinn remained sitting up on the broken wall. Huddled up with her thoughts. Frowning. Even as night began to fall elsewhere.

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist

There was more working on things, the construction efforts from the different ranger's to make a stronger funnel for the things they had coming after them. THe ranger's that were working to defend and shoot had more of the defense and interest until she worked on the larger sections of the base they were constructiong. With the cradles sealing and providing larger defenses at their backs and side it allowed quick base construction around the medical hospital they were able to get. Dropships to take hushed caskets where needed and directed, deploying speeders and dala transports where needed as well as blow up everything cannons they could use. She had the small case of taming talismans for Leina to use when the twi'lek arrived ready to use them. Her skills were far superior for testing.

10/25

The shielding crystals were proving a success and Orihime was standing at the ready with the researchers. Letting the leads operate with the others in the ships who were handling the dangers and problem before she pointed out some of the more important parts. "Stay on task and send what we have so they can begin replicating and deploying the crystals. We'll get the areas of operation shielded for our protection in case of bombardment then I want what we have secured in the cradles for maximum protection. Allow the ships to feed power and keep them going until we have the reactors but and running for buildings and bases." She knew her task well and memorized it as needed so they could handle the local pirates and undead quickly but provide the best defenses possible.

11/25

Leina had been on the ship and waiting for hee cue that what they were working on had been at least initially finished. No real way to be sure until they like tested it and such so she was moving with intention down the ramp while two akk dogs they had brought with them to experiment on were there. THey were wild, untamed and for some protection in cages but well if it failed they would still be wild and well fed but if it worked they would respond to her when she held the talismans up and directed them towards the things attacking them. A good way to handle it along with some tricks as she skipped down the ramp looking over at the golden shields above them from the other jedi teams that were working on things. "Ohhhh pretty."

12/25

That was a small statement when she arrived and saluted to the jedi researchers holding the case of six talismans with a nod of her head and speaking. "Is this all of them?" The robed man spoke shaking his head. "No, master Ike believes the most one could safely maintain control over is six at a time if it comes down to it. Any more and it would just be to much of a mental distraction to other abilities and techniques." Okay she could get with that and understood holding them as she only needed two with her attention on some of the things. "Alright that makes sense, don't want to get distracted and the like to much." She held the small orbs and they were made to be clipped onto a belt while looking at the akk dogs.

13/25

Leina breathed in and out for a moment holding them, staying focused and ready for anything while allowing her force energies to travel into the talismans for this. The feeling and sensation of the crystal weave as it was there, the feeling of the two dogs and her own skills in sensing their feelings to connect and speak with them. Slowly releasing them as she took careful aim tossing the talismans with the force and guiding it with the different force energies to retrieve it as the talisman's touched them and the small barbs penetrated getting the smallest yelp of surprise. No pain it was more soothing them that in her head and energies to them but then it needed their dna or their nail, their hair... something to connect to them.
