Technoplant is a thing, right? [Leyan Viceritas] [DEV]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak fiddled with two pieces of electronics, trying to make part A fit into part B, without completely destroying part C.

He was attempting to amalgamate his major tech into one suit, that would suit all his needs, and then some. However, he had hit quite a few snags, and he was more or less on the last thing he could possibly do by himself. He had thought about asking [member="Leyan Viceritas"] for help, but he didn't want to bug her, and, if she didn't want to help, she wouldn't be any help at all.

So he was alone in the shop. So he thought....

"Come on, you blasted thing," he grunted, delicately punching the piece into position. "Get. In. There."

YES! Leyan smiled excitedly at the bolt that returned to her hand. She'd been spending hours in Jak's sleeping quarters, practicing relentlessly with the little piece of metal. It had given her a few headaches, but finally, finally she could levitate it and make it spin really fast in midair. She could even get it to come to her from across the room!
With the bolt in her hand, Leyan practically ran to the garage at the back of the ship, her steps light and barely audible. She stopped when she heard Jak saying something in a frustrated voice. Peeking around the door, she watched him curiously for a few minutes.

(not a workshop, a whole garage, that the ship is parked in ^_^ )

It was very delicate work, and Jak's patience was wearing a bit too thin for 'delicate' work. He needed to smash things together. Or get help, somehow.

The two pieces slipped apart for the umpteenth time. "OH YOU STUPID THING!" Jak yelled. "CAN YOU FIT TOGETHER PLEASE??!?!???!!!"

Obviously things weren't going so well for him. Leyan stood there and watched Jak yell at two pieces of metal for ten minutes. He needed them to fit together.... She looked down at the bolt in her hand. Maybe that would help? She decided to utilize the trick she'd just learned. The bolt lifted up from her hand, slowly floating over to him. She made it gently nudge his hand before letting it land with a light clank on the table.

Jak looked down at the bolt and smiled wryly. Turning around, he sighed. "Hey, Leyan... sorry if I woke you up..."

He flung the bolt from the table at her, not too fast, but quickly enough. "Catch!"

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan wasn't quite ready for that reaction. Her first instinct was to cower from the bolt. But her hand seemed to think otherwise, catching it before it could hit her.
"I've been awake for a while actually. Practicing. I was coming to show you..."
She held up the bolt again.
"Would this make them fit together at all?"

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Oh, alright. What do you have to show me?" He was honestly curious to see how his sort-of-pseudo-Padawan was coming along.

"And no... I'm afraid it wouldn't help." He smiled at the thought.

Leyan laid the bolt out flat in her hand again. Just like she had in Jak's room, she got it to levitate and spin very fast. She then slowly floated it over to him, making it land on his head.
"It's a lot easier now. But I can't make it float out very far."
She made a tiny sad face.
"Sorry. You just seemed pretty frustrated, but I didn't know how else to help."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He made the bolt do a pirouette, and tossed it gently back to her. "Actually, I could use some help, if you wouldn't mind giving me a hand."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan caught the bolt again, giving Jak a small smile.
"Okay. What should I do?"
She walked up to him, looking at the table.

"Well, if you could use your... slightly more delicate fingers to fit these two together, I'd appreciate it," he asked. "I need to get this exo-frame rigged up in the meantime." He went over to where what looked like several nun-chucks all linked together, were hanging from a scaffold.

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan gently picked up the two pieces Jak had been messing with. She felt along all the edges, studying them both very closely. There were a few small dents from where Jak had been slamming them together. They weren't major though.
"Did you try fitting them together at the seam right here? There looks like there's a slot where they could easily slip into place..."
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He looked over at her.

".... seam?" Slapping his face, he sighed. "Yeah. That's probably it..." Stupid, he berated himself.

With a quiet buzz, the faux-nun-chucks zipped into the shape of a loose exo-skeletal frame. "Alright... just need to sort it out... calibrate..." He stepped down off the scaffold and moved in with the nun-chuck things. "Hey, once you've got that, could you come over here to give me a hand?"

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

The pieces practically clicked together, just as Leyan said they would. She carried the newly joined object over to Jak.
"What are you making, exactly?"
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He smiled, and motioned to a table, for her to put the object down on. "I'm combining my tech to make something I should have made a long time ago." He pulled the nun-chuck things over his arms and legs, and called her over. "I need you to press a button on the dashboard up there." Jak indicated the panel on the scaffold.

In the magnetic 0-G, the nun-chucks (FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD, OK??) hovered just over his skin, forming a loose framework over his arms and legs and back. He put his hands in two metal-covered gloves. "You there?"

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan sat the object down and walked over to the dashboard Jak indicated to. She gently pressed the button and looked back to him.
"What kind of thing?"
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak gasped in relief, and cracked his shoulder back out of displacement. "Thanks... okay, press the one that says, 'Mesh,' then turn the dial right below it to 50%."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan was careful to do exactly what Jak said without fault this time.
"I'm so sorry! Did I hurt you?"
