Technoplant is a thing, right? [Leyan Viceritas] [DEV]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"No, not really. I'm fine." The nunchucks seemed to become rigid around Jak. extending and solidifying, becoming one solid frame, like a roll cage in a vehicle. "Okay, now I need you to hit the button that says 'L-J-B'. That'll sense where my shoulders and legs are, as well as find all the joints in my body. It'll make it custom for me."

"L-J-B... For Legs, Joints, and Bones......"
Leyan scanned the dashboard. That button was a little small. She almost didn't see it. After pushing it, she looked back up to watch what would happen.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Something like that."

The scaffold bathed Jak in a blueish light, and Jak stood perfectly still for it. When it was done, most of the frame fell away, except for ones running down his arms and legs, and a small frame on his back. "Okay, now hit the button that says 'Tracker'. There should be a countdown timer, let me know when it starts."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

It was a few seconds after the button was pressed when the beeps for the countdown began.
"It's started."

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak started to move, and the frame moved with him. He went through all the possible ranges of motion, and some a little more than what would be considered humanly normal. Once the timer ran out, he called up, "Last step: Hit the 'Mesh' button."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Wow.... Leyan hadn't ever seen people as flexible as Jak. It was strange... and intriguing. She pressed the last button and slowly walked over to him.
"H-how do you move like that?"
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Well, I have no bone structure." He could move more freely, and the frame around him seemed to sprout small motors and pistons, a mechanical spine slithering down over Jak's back. "Alright... almost done here..." The exo-skeleton hardened into a thin frame.

"Since I am completely composed of plant matter - again, which I can shift around as I please - I don't have a bone structure, or a nervous system. I do feel electric shocks, because I have plenty of water in me, but you can't cut my spine to kill me... I have no spine!"

"No bones? But how can you stand without bones?"
Leyan was confused by this. All creatures had bones, right? How could Jak not have them? It didn't make any sense to her.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"You can X-ray me for verification... honestly, I have no bones!" He wasn't exactly about to perform surgery on himself... "My whole body is made up of semi-rigid cells. More solid than regular skin and muscle, but not as solid as bone. That's how I stand up straight."

The machine whirred down and beeped, and Jak grunted under the weight of the exo-suit. "Okay... that's heavier than I thought..." He kneeled suddenly, with a loud clank. "Can you hit the quick release on my back, please? It's a large red switch; pull it down and let it go."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

No bones... Things just never stopped getting strange. Leyan walked up to Jak's back. It took a bit of effort on her part to push the switch down. It was pretty stiff! Finally she managed to, letting it go after she heard a loud click.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
The back part split open like a clam-shell opening, and Jak stood up out of the exo-suit. "Needs a power supply, and then we have a basic exo-skeleton!" Rubbing his hands together, he grinned like a child on Christmas. "So... Breaktime? Or tech time?"

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Alright, break it is. Uhh..." He looked over to where it was the least cluttered. "Alright, let's head over here... I think there's a tap around here somewhere." He left her for a sec, coming back with two glasses filled with very chilled water.

Leyan wandered over to the corner Jak was talking about. As she sat down on a small crate, she noticed something. There was a metal ball just a little bigger than her palm sitting next to the crate. Curious, she picked it up and started looking at it. She pressed a little button, causing two lights to come on and beeping to start just as Jak walked back in.
"Jak, what's this? Seems a bit strange to have a ball in here..."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak came back to have Leyan holding a grenade. "OH S- uhh.." He calmly put the water down on the nearby desk. "Leyan... please don't take your thumb off that clip." Slowly walking towards her, he gave her a smile he didn't feel inside. "Here, let me have it?" Once he had the thermal detonator in his hands, he threw it up through the (thankfully open) garage bay doors, and used the Force to fling it away, where it exploded with a faint poof. "Please don't touch those again."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan watched the explosion, suddenly realizing what could've just happened. Her expression turned to sheer horror.
"I-I almost..... I'm so sorry!"
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

Leyan carefully took the glass in her hand, as if afraid she'd do something else wrong.
"So.... You're making a suit?"
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Exo-suit, yeah. It's gonna be a multi-function suit, but.. unfortunately, not all the components I want on it can all fit on it at the same time, and still having it light and agile, so... I plan to make it plenty modifiable."

He sipped his water, mulling over what needed to be done.
