Technoplant is a thing, right? [Leyan Viceritas] [DEV]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Well, I want to put on a multitude of functions, in combinations I call 'modes'; for example, Assault mode, will contain a personal, temporary shield, a physical, deployable riot shield, and a power booster for the exo's punching, jumping, or kicking abilities. But in Hack mode, it'll have a electronic jamming device, an EMP launcher, and the ability to wirelessly hack anything within 5 meters." He finished his water and carried on. "Each mode - and there's more than 2 - will have three main abilities, and each mode has its own 'pack' that will sit on the back of the exo. Without the pack, it's just a regular exo suit, no more than a physical enhancer."

Jak knew his suits.

Leyan nodded as Jak spoke about his "exo" suit. She didn't her best to gather the basic premise of what he was trying to say. There were still a lot of things she didn't quite understand though.
"What's hacking?"

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Well... Hacking is like this: Someone is using an electronic device, but I don't want them to use it. So I use a different electronic device, and my device is more powerful, so my device can actually take over the other person's device." He winced a little. "That... clear at all?"

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan finished her water, laughing a little bit.
"But what if someone enslaves your technology? What do you do then?"
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

"I hope no one ever hacks the ship..."
Leyan glanced around them for a minute. It would be like they were in a flying prison.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Don't worry... No one's gonna hack the ship." It wasn't like people went around just hacking stuff for the fun of it. They'd be safe.

He was pretty sure.

"Alright... let's get back to work?"

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"You have thinner fingers than me, right? I need you to press a plug into a socket, in a very small receptacle, when I tell you to. Can you do that?"

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
There wasn't much danger of an explosion this time.

Not much.

Jak picked up the part Leyan had stuck together, and, with a few deft clicks and twists, had put other pieces on it and arranged it to form something resembling a power source. "I'm gonna put it on the back of this thing," he indicated the exo-suit, "and when I tell you to, reach your finger inside, and press down on a small button in... there." He indicated a small hole inside. "Stick your finger inside now, just to get a sense of what it feels like?" Once she had figured it out, he positioned the power source on the back of the exo-suit. "Okay, now press the button."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan was surprised that her finger fit inside the hole where the button was. It was SO SMALL!! And it felt kind of squishy. She pressed the button as Jak had asked her to.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
The suit clicked, and Jak stepped back, gently pushing Leyan back. A few whirrs and hums later, and the suit seemed to almost come alive, standing up on its own to a neutral position. Jak couldn't help but grin. "And here... we... go..." Stepping forward, he moved into the suit, and when he touched it, it opened up and then closed around him perfectly. Matching his motions, he tested his weight.... No difference whatsoever.

"And there we have it," he grinned to Leyan. "Now for the easy part."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Her face was like a child's again. She stared with wonder as the suit rose on it's own. It fit Jak perfectly! And it moved as fluidly as he did! Leyan came closer, touching the suit in fascination.
"This technology... It will never stop surprising me!"

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He smiled. "Welcome to the universe." He moved with the suit, test-running it, making sure it worked properly. "I want to put several modifications on it... and again, I need a hand. Could you help?"

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Moving over to an apparently empty corner, Jak got out of the suit again, and, pulling a thin remote out of his pocket, hit one of the buttons.

The durasteel walls flipped over, exposing a whole smorgasbord of weapons, tools, equipment, armor, and all for both offense and defense.

"I need to get all that, onto my armor, in as little space as possible."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

"ALL of it?? How can that happen?"
It would be too clunky for him to move around of all this stuff was on his armor! Wouldn't it?
