The Burning of Thyferra | TSE Invasion of GA Held Thyferra Hex

Fire.

That was what the Sith brought.

That was the only thing they were capable of bringing. Jorg had seen it himself, he had conducted their deeds himself. He had sung their song and danced to their tune. He'd followed orders, he'd been loyal and set the blazes that the Sith had wanted. It was something he would never live down, something he would never forgive himself for. The fires that raged around him, that leaped towards himself and the others, it was a reminder of what he had done.

His fingers tightened.

The shields of his armor kicked into life, the VT-Bulwark burning bright as it's bubble appeared just in time as fire splashed across it's surface. Jorg gritted his teeth, a slight click of his teeth sending a ripple of energy through his armor. There was a slight shift of his body, and then the jetpack on his back kicked into life.

Within half a heartbeat the Soldier flew up and into the sky, clearing the flames.

Jorg swept his rifle, pulling the trigger three times and attempting to catch the Sith off guard.

"Assess?" Saoirse looked at her new companion in disbelief. "We're getting shot at. What more do you need?"

She was a big believer in asking questions later. Asking questions took time that in the heat of the moment, one rarely had. Rolling with the punches was what kept her alive in messy situations (yeah, there were a lot of those). Pausing for any reason was dangerous. But true to that policy, she didn't spend any longer worrying about Mara's odd sense of priority.

Weapons. She did have a gun, but not the lethal sort. A stun pistol. It didn't sound like anything effective, but the only other thing she had on her was a knife. Slim odds either way, but Saoirse preferred to stack them in her favour where she could.

Saoirse held the pistol like someone who'd fired one before. The only thing? She was very definitively not firing.

Naturally, she was ready to fire as soon as she had to. But that was far from where her skill lay. Instead she was searching for exits. The door lay somewhere in between blocked and destroyed and the brunt of the building's front had met the same fate. The interior, on the other hand, was a mess of people knocking into each other and troops firing everywhere (they weren't here to take anything, they were here to destroy. Helpful in one sense and extremely unhelpful in another). Any way out they'd found was somehow obstructed.

But a place like this?

Oh, somewhere like this would have backdoors.

Saoirse grimaced and turned to face the brunette, eyes ticking nervously like in her mind she was joining up lines. A map, a plan. Saoirse's mind was not an organized place.

"How much time do we have?"

"We'll have to subcontract some of the work to other shipyards, like Dagobah, Koros Spaceworks, Fondor, if we want to make the order through in time. Is that acceptable to you?" the public health official asked Cathul, while the latter was switching between channels back and forth.

"So long as the majority of them, or any supermajority that the government deems acceptable, are built in Alliance space, I'm amenable to that. I've got people on other channels, standby one"

Taheera Sollo said:
"Start getting all the patients prepared for evacuation. I need medvac units on standby now." A twilek nurse nodded and began transmitting along emergency alliance channels. The mirialan grabbed a portable shield generator and motioned to a human and bothan clinic worker.

"The hospital ships are in position, admiral" Captain Tidio of the Pharmacokinetics reported.

"Commence deployment of medvac, stat! Casvac will have to come for later"

Because the remaining Sith battlefleets were busy engaging other elements, elsewhere in the system, the two medvac ships could make it to low orbit without being fired at. Thus far, it seemed that medvac wasn't prioritized among the enemy naval forces. Once the medvac motherships were in position, and clearly marked as such, they started releasing their respective payloads of space ambulances towards Xozhixi and Xucphra respectively. With the airspace around Xucphra being, well, less hot than it was at the onset of the medvac deployment, and Xozhixi's airspace being nearly devoid of any significant aerial threats, she knew her patience was paying off. So medical facilities housing patients still alive were prioritized in Xozhixi's case, and Cathul was confident that she could get as many civilians as was possible to haul in this condition, to the tune of twelve apiece, but in Xucphra, the sheer amount of medical distress calls forced some of the 32 ambulances to focus on specific areas that already came under fire. But here, she would not be able to personally take care of the patients until the battle in orbit was over. Some of the 32 ambulances earmarked for Xucphra was swerving its way into atmosphere and near the burning cityscape of Xucphra, near the location where one [member="Taheera Sollo"] launched the distress call, and not one moment too soon. But the pilots of those medvac ambulances had to hurry once the patients are onboard, though.

She might, or might not, remember his name. It really depended on how interesting she found him to be truthful. She couldn't possibly remember the names of all of the mammals she seemed to keep running across in her travels, though this one's inclination to worship meant he was less likely to be forgotten.

"Ohhh Shining One, I like that," she cooed, flowing past him- not touching, never touching. Her whiskers rippled in the hot wind, the warmth still within the pleasant range for the reptilian Xykan. "Goddess, Radiant One, all are acceptable," she added as they started to move through the jungle. The air was thick with smoke and heat, but it reminded Ao of home. Not simply her homeworld, but the glowing coals of the fire could be his eyes, the smoke could be from his cigar. She sighed, a certain tone of longing.

Kalak would love this.

She shook her head, ears flapping slightly as she did. Perhaps she would bring him back when it was over, a get away, just the two of them. But for now....

"You may also refer to me by any other titles you find fitting," she murmured, pausing to preen, the glow of the fire reflected in her scales.

As if an afterthought:

"Ao" her tail flicked "Xian would also be acceptable," she allowed, glancing over at him, then down, considering. Yet another creature without a proper tail. She sighed inwardly. "If you must."

Black figures moved silently in the backdrop of burning buildings and the charred remains of civilians. Kogra had been assigned to his current squad only days ago as its leader, a towering and menacing figure in his jet black armor he'd been given for his task. Not a single soul made chatter in the comms, all of the hand picked individuals knowing intimately how to move through the carnage of war without bringing attention to themselves. These men, along with two more squads were tasked with a single objective, fifteen men were meant to defeat the defense force within and around the largest bacta facility on the planet, likely where most mortally injured enemy soldiers and civilians would be receiving treatment. Stacking on a small door and entering quickly Kogra would lead his squad personally through the building. Moving fluently from room to room his squad slowly drifted from each other going off into their assigned sections of the building.

Kogra proceeded to the third floor, his stance seeming almost relaxed as he stepped closer to the final room on the floor. Hearing the almost panicked breathing within he smiled within his helmet. As the Galactic Alliance soldier whirled around the corner with blaster rifle in hand, Kogra's own extended out at blinding speed, snatching the barrel and forcing it upwards as the man fired wildly into the ceiling. Reaching out with his free hand he gripped the mans throat, lifting him from the floor and ripping his blaster from his hand. Holding the man aloft it seemed as though he was nothing more than a beast hidden behind a mask. Leaning forward he pressed through the doorway, squeezing the mans throat gently, though it was easily enough to strangle him. "If I had been born a lesser being, you might have caught me off guard." Kogra spoke, barely able to hold the man without breaking him like an infant.

Walking him to the far side of the room Kogra reached to the small of his back, unsheathing his vibrosword. The soft hum of the blade imminating through the room Kogra smiled as he slowly brought the blade to the mans chest, slowly sliding it down the length of his body before pulling him forward, impaling him in the gut. Kicking the man hard as he released his grip on his throat he would crash through the nearby window. Plummeting to the ground there was a loud smack as Kogra took his position at the window, mostly hidden behind cover, his rifle inching outside into the inferno of war. "Now." Kogra spoke simply into the comms as three LMGs opened fire onto the hospital and its defenders, followed by a rain of projectiles fired by Kogra and the other three squads who had gained positions on two other sides of the facility. Aiming to the left of Wellenn, Kogra took a single shot, plastering a young mans blood and brains on the ground and his surrounding allies, slinking back behind cover as he positioned himself at a different window to assure he never fired from the same location twice in a row.

Vaudin looked down the street as someone yelled probably the oddest question he had ever been asked. He had been mistaken for a lot of things in his time but Jedi had never been one of them. He patted Leo on the shoulder and turned toward the large woman.

"Get the civies out, stud." He said as he pushed back his duster, "I'll handle short speederbus."

"I'M JUST THE REGULAR KIND AH SCUM!" He yelled back as his palms ran over the grips of his blasters.

After all the years and all the drunken lullabies his hands never forgot what to do. The pistol grips were smooth and warm agaisnt his thick skinned palms. He watched the gangly girl's face and flicked his blasters to stun. She was young, and sharp as a marble, he could just about see the water behind her ears.

"ARE YOU SITH SCUM?" He called back as he started forward at a steady pace and got ready to draw. All he had to do was provide time to get people to saftey then they could clean out the infestation.

Vrak stalked down the ramp of his ship, the stench of burning corpses and duracrete immediately assaulting the senses. His nose crinkled slightly, his eyes shifted towards the east where the city of Xozhixi was under assault by his 'kin'. He frowned for a moment. It seemed that the city was not entirely lost just yet, he could spot some Alliance fighters within the air and certain defenses still stood strong. It was an impressive feat considering what his foreign brethren had brought to bare down upon this world.

The Pureblood lingered for a moment at the edge of the ramp, then turned and headed down the cobblestone pathway. Ordinarily guards would line this small road, but he assumed that most of them had either been sent to the city or had simply abandoned their post in the face of the coming war. Vrak couldn't judge them too harshly, many would rather not fall into the hands of the Sith lest they experience the tortures that could be laid upon them.

That being said, he doubted any upon this world would suffer long.

As he stalked up the path he caught sight of the manor house in the distance, light still stoked in the windows and he could see a scant few silhouettes moving throughout the estate. They were likely packing, aiming to utilize the transport within the nearby hangar to escape Thyferra. Vrak continued his walk along the path, spotting a few lingering guards that still remained loyal to their master.

As they noticed him they raised their weapons.

A single swipe of his hand was enough to bring three of them to their knees, several loud cracks ringing out within the night air as bones were shattered. The other men looked to their companions, freezing in place in fear. Gira had never paid for the best, and Vrak doubted that these men had received more than a few days worth of training. They were nothing compared to the Red Guard that trailed him, and he knew that. There was no need to kill them all. "Run."

Best not to cause a scene, not with the others so nearby.

The crash was impossible to miss, and to Aria impossible not to investigate. Not that gratuitous pyrokinesis wasn't excellent fun, because it most certainly was. She'd always wanted to know just how much she could set on fire at once (the answer? A lot). But she was a creature of curiosity and a crash landing was out of place enough to spark that curiosity.

"Split up," she ordered the Valkyries behind her. "Big city, lot of ground to cover, you get the picture." Yeah, she didn't care at all about how much ground they covered. It wasn't like the Empire was short people willing to set a few streets on fire. But like just about everything else, burning things to ash was something Aria preferred to do alone. Also, the taller one would without a doubt have stolen her thunder, and naturally that could never do.

-
Wow. That looks like something I would do.

The crash looked worse than she'd expected close up and Aria had to wonder about the whys and hows as she neared the wreckage. Naturally her opinion of the Galactic Alliance was less than positive, but somehow she doubted this was their idea of sending reinforcements.

Until she heard a lightsaber. Her mind filled in at least a few of the blanks.
Fun.

"Nice job with the entrance there," Aria called cheerfully in way of greeting.

His weapon zipped back to his three-clawed hand. The saber - whose size compensated for nothing, thank you very much - caught every blue maser blast except one. The bolt crashed through armorweave robes, heavy fur, and thick skin to burn a hole low in Velok's ribs. The thrown umbrella cut off his strangled roar. He swiped it away, nursing a bruise, and plodded into the building. Past the initial collapse, most of the structure was intact, though not conducive to his size.

"Not my Emperor," he growled, voice rumbling through the halls over the crackle of distant flames. "It'll be a cold day on Thyferra before I kneel to Kaine Zambrano."

She had expected him to parry the blow, his stance had screamed defensive to her and as such Vaylin was prepared to move with the flow. Her blade was deflected away, clashing along the blue of Fel's blade as they moved.

The thought to move quickly flashed across the Zabrak's mind, but she held her ground - not wanting to reveal her hand too quickly. She wanted to see what the Jedi's next move would be, to see just what kind of warrior he was.

One had to know their next several moves before they even initiated the first. And at the same time, needed to be able to adapt to their opponent at the last moment.

But Vaylin was Sith, and deception was a valuable tool.

The blue blade came down, and the Zabrak quickly shifted her footing, spacing it out so her center of mass was grounded. Fel's strong blow was blocked by both of Vaylin's lightsabers, forming a cross against his. She gritted her teeth, feeling the muscles in her arms tense up from the sudden impact - but she didn't budge too much from it, at least initially.

Steadily she was being pushed, her twin sabers being edging closer and closer against her.

The saber lock didn't last long though. Vaylin grinned, suddenly springing up against the Jedi and knocking his lightsaber to the side, giving her an opening to kick him in the stomach.

The sound of the whiphid was muffled, not by the walls but rather his own damned burst eardrums. He might go deaf. It was a possibility if he didn't get a proper bacta treatment which might be harder to get after this

Damian heard the whiphid speak stating that he wasn't for Kaine. Well... alright. "So why did you come here?" he said finishing wrapping the det cord around the doors frame and prepping the detonator. He needed to keep talking, lure the sith in. His head ached, his knees were weak from the sonic blow. Channeling the force he tried his best to steady himself he moved back away from the door and continued to talk. "You just here for a good meal? Doesn't seem very smart or self serving. Why don't you explain it to me? Whats your angle?"

He pulled out his lightsaber activating it with his right hand while holding the detonator in his left....

[member="Damian Starchaser"]

Velok's head tilted. The boy's voice didn't offer any sense of direction or location, but then again Velok's hearing wasn't as good as in his youth. No more tracking caraboose from twenty miles away.

Clearly, the boy wasn't trying to hide, or he wouldn't be talking. An ambush, then, but what kind was anyone's guess. In his shoes, Velok might have tried to damage bearing walls as quietly as possible, and rig more of the building to collapse. Traps like that tended to work well against large, slow, implacable enemies. The boy might not even be in the building anymore; ventriloquism didn't require the Force, and several obscure Jedi or Sith talents could approximate it.

Velok hustled for the back door. He paused, though, as he caught a glimpse of a lightsaber's glow and heard a snap-hiss.

[member="Velok the Younger"]

Sacred Feth, Damian thought as he saw the Whiphid run across the doorway towards the back door. He had to salvage the situation as best he could. He darted out behind the whiphid and slung some debris at him using the force as he ran. Damian wasn't moving as fast as he had previously, but still he managed to pump a bit more juice into the engine using the force propelling him forward as he pressed the det charge. The wall behind him crashed in a small explosion. It wasn't enough to take the building down by any stretch of the imagination but he had hoped the explosion and blast would unsteady the whiphid when he struck.

As he got closer he jumped to the air and planted a foot on a wall and redirecting the jump to try and sail over the Sith's head. He didn't want to be caught in a corridor and risk another sonic blast at close range in a confined area. Instead he would strike with a deadly stab as he sailed overhead and landed outside the back door.

A swarm of shadow droids rolled out to meet the K-wing, which put the tail gunner in a tight spot until a group of A-wings broke off from their furball to cover the K-wing's run. The squadrons tore into each other in a cacophony of roaring sublight engines, whining laser cannons, and incinerating deaths.

Clear for a moment, the K-wing passed over the Sith ground forces at the LZ and the bombardier released their payload. Two ion bombs first, to wipe out any shields below, then ten cluster bombs to rain a hellstorm of submunitions on the forces below.

All of them were new. Sure, half of them had been boots on the ground once before, twice in Xeric's case (yippie), they'd all technically been in combat zones before. Technically. As in, someone, somewhere, was shooting at someone else, somewhere else. Not at them though. It was a bad mix. She shook her head to herself, chewing on the inside of her cheek. These particular young men and women never should have been dispatched to Thyferra.

Hell, Dante didn't even think she should be here. This was her first time in charge. Sure, she'd taken point sometimes when it was just her and Morgan, but here she was, responsible for the lives of eight people. Eight people. That was some bullchit right there. Dante knew she shouldn't be responsible for shoe laces for that many people, let alone their safety. Even with Morgan backing her up, she didn't like any of this.

And she couldn't even complain about it.

Ugh.

They knew how to hustle, she'd give them that. Everyone got their rears in gear at the sixty second warning, the tension in the room sky rocketing. They all knew that the change from five minutes to one meant something was coming.

Would it have been better to explain it, take the time to lay it all out? She wondered as she slapped another charge to the underside of a girder. No. There wasn't the time for that. Sure it was good when a CO did that, but sometimes it was more important to follow a force cursed order and get the kark out of dodge, right? Right.

Right?

"Ramirez move it or lose it!" She called over, annoyed as she realized he still had three more charges to set even as she was moving toward where the first of the loaders was idling near the doors.

Hoping up on the door, she swung around to get a better view. Ramirez- she could see his hands shaking from here damn it, still fumbling. Tallis in the loader next to her with Xeric. Samez ready to move in the other as Jaris climbing on board. Six of the flock, just waiting for-

Morgan's voice came over the comm and everything went cold.

It all happened too fast. After the fact, Dante wasn't sure if she'd been shouting or if she'd just been screaming in her own head. In slow motion, jumping down and ordering Tallis to floor it, motioning for Samez to get her own loader out of the damn way. Seeing Morgan sprinting through the doorway and grabbing hold of Samez's loader right as it started moving.

The sound of gunfire, echoing oddly, too close.

The slow turn as she looked over at Ramirez. She was sure she'd shouted something, but she didn't remember what it was, and she didn't remember hearing her own words as she watched him panic, thumb depressing the activator.

She ran. She must have, but she didn't really remember it either. The explosions from Ramirez's side ripped through the hangar, cascading the trigger of her own a pair of heartbeats later. The first loader had gotten clear of the door completely with Tallis and Xeric. The second, hauling Samez, Jaris and Morgan was caught in the tail end of the blast, sending it spinning around and slamming into a barrier. Dante ended up on the ground, ten meters outside- stunned but largely uninjured- a combination of luck and the combat armor she was wearing. Even with the dampeners in the helmet, her ears were ringing.

Ripping it off, she stumbled to her feet, helmet clattering to the duracrete.

"Mor? MORGAN!"

She was limping- why was she limping?- hurrying toward the second loader. Already Tallis and Xeric were jumping out of the first, hurrying toward it. She felt a rush of relief when she spotted Morgan, but that feeling dropped to the pit of her stomach as she realized he was pulling the too still form of Samez from the driver's seat.

Jonas. Samez.

She shouldn't be in charge of shoelaces.

Response: Flinch, but not too much.

Stimulus: Twink attempts to jump over and stab.

Evaluation: Humans are tiny.

Response: Parry with blade, reach up with other hand, attempt to grab twink and slam him down on the floor extremely hard.

"Do you know the way there?"

Perhaps the Force was with them. Surely, a scientist familiar with the formula for distilling bacta would be a national treasure in the days yet to come. "Well come, then, friend," the Beorni intoned with a bow toward the stranger. As he straightened back up, Kiriko made note of the man's explanation for his confusion and arrived at his own assumptions as to how it might have occurred. "Lunch break took a diversionary route?" the bear deadpanned dryly.

Easy to imagine how disorienting it would be. Getting one's bearings in a new location and suddenly the sky was falling.

Glancing up, the large Beorni surveyed their surroundings a moment. Conversing in the open as this was dangerous. They needed to be on the move, if they were going to move.

That second pot of tea would have to wait.

And the third helping of gorba melts as well. More's the pity, that. The bear had skipped second breakfast today. He needed a large lunch to help maintain this husky figure.

"As it happens, I was on my way to the labs to arrange the purchase of bacta," Kiriko remarked, glancing back down a moment. Using a claw to tap out a quick command on the side of the wristlink he wore, a detailed map graphic popped up as the XJ9 responded to the bear's command. Taking a second to get his bearings, the Beorni looked up from the map app. "The labs are that way, but I recommend we avoid the main roads."

Gathering the white cloak around his large frame, the bear nodded in the direction he intended to take and then set off across the street. "You don't mind the detour, I presume?" Kiriko asked, somewhat whimsically, as he set out with his newfound companion.
