"Affirmative," Veino paused for a moment, and then added, "I'll get whatever trigger they might be using first, and then we hit them hard." He slipped it back into his pocket and sat cross-legged next to the entrance. Not long afterwards, he heard the throaty whine of an engine and he looked up as a starship descended their way, blocking out the sun, covering the entire platform in shadow. It settled to a hover just above the lip of he platform.
Veino stood and walked towards it, stopping several meters away as the boarding ramp slowly dropped to the platform in a burst vapors. He swallowed, ignoring the chill that ran down his spine. Six figures in that same black body armor marched off the ship and fanned out, creating a parade ground almost. He studied them more carefully and frowned inwardly. That looked like military grade combat armor and there was something odd about their rifles. They didn't look quite like blasters. Then it hit him. Disrupters. That would be unpleasant. But, in tight quarters such as these, they'd have to be careful not to hit each other. Unless they didn't care. Either way, he'd have to be very, very careful.
Then she strode down the ramp, a feral grin across her face, and a small transmitter in her hand. That had to be it. Now he just had to get it without setting it off.
"Well done, Veino. You have my thanks." She paused,,surveying the interior of the warehouse, and snapped her fingers. Lifter droids and common muscle streamed off the ship, pushing hover sleds and carts to carry the cortosis. This was a larger operation than he had anticipated. He stepped aside to let them pass.
"I don't want your thanks," His voice was softer than usual, and tired. Desperation was beginning to fester inside, urging him to lash out and attack. He kept it focused and under control though. Talk first, then fight. That was how it had to go. "I just want the hostages to be safe." She laughed, a warm laugh, and with surprisingly good cheer.
"Of course you do," Her face narrowed, calculating, and then she shrugged. "Here's the gas release trigger." She tossed it to him, but it fell a little short, so he dived for it, slamming into the ground below, causing several scrapes and partially knocking the wind out of his lungs. He caught it though. There it was, cradled in his hand. Something so small. "Now kill him." Wait, what? He looked up and fear jolted through him. The six were all lofting sir disruptors towards him, and he could see a few beginning to squeeze the trigger,
The Force moved him, and he shoved himself up, following with a leap up and back behind a cart as the first shots rang out and slammed into the ground. He stumbled as the impact felt like someone had punched him in the lungs. He pulled his lightsaber out and activated it, relaxing some with comfort in its yellow blade and hum. Then blaster bolts began peppering the area and he moved to deflect them back, placing the trigger in his pocket. He shoved the cart towards the six with the Force and jumped for the boarding ramp, landing lightly and slashing through the struts. That'd keep them planet-side for now. He whirled, stepping aside to evade another barrage of blaster bolts and the beginning of the next disruptor volley. The six had spread out, out of his lightsaber range and into a crescent formation.
