The First Step Homewards... (Bespin Mining/Steal)

Nyos stepped forward, priming his Ripper on the crowd.

"I think I can handle these scoundrels." He said sarcastically.

"Go get em Jedi."

"Send a squad down to the Market Centre Maintenance Sector. I have members of the Syndicate to ale into custody."

"Alright, if any of you decide to run, move, sneeze or cry, I will test how many rounds this can fire per one power cell."

Veino nodded and strode over to the door and it slid open as he stepped through. Computer terminals and databanks. He rolled his eyes and started searching through the information. There had to be something somewhere. He frowned, and leaned out the door, "Better bring in analysts as well. There's more information in here than I know what to do with."

He turned back to the room and frowned, tapping the desk, and then spotted something. A piece of actual paper. Fascinating. The last time he'd seen one of those was quite some time ago. Probably a few years. Names, ages, and locations. He smiled in relief. Time to go save some kids, and a few adults. He hurried out of the room and to [member="Nyos Val"], "I found the info. Looks like things might actually end well today."

"Well done Jedi. I have teams on their way now. We should go ASAP. My officers will handle the detainment of these men."

Nyos looked back at the others laying on the ground, as if he was challenging them to try to run. None answered the challenge, merely hugged the ground tighter. He followed the Jedi out into the streets as a few speeders loaded with security and tech officers pulled up.

"Inside boys, they're waiting for you."

Veino followed [member="Nyos Val"] out, nodding to the security teams as they hurried past him into the building. Frowning, he tapped his fingers along the hilt of his lightsaber, and then reclipped it to his belt. He watched them and listened as they fanned out, doing their duty. He gave a slow nod, and turned to Nyos. A small smile crept across his face, "Looks like we out in a good days work today. I think it's time we let others have some of the fun."

There was a slightly bitter tone to his voice. He hated this part of his quest, going through and fighting bad guys. It was ugly, and he felt them, their fears and anger, their regrets, and their deaths. It made it impossible to wave off their deaths or minimize their existence. They were all completely real to him, individuals in their own right, with their own lives and ambitions, both of which he had cut down.

Nyos stopped a few meters from the crowd of people that began to flock to the commotion. He looked around for a moment, then to the Jedi.

Stick his metal hand out,"Well done Jedi. You've done well to stop these criminals today. The Protectorate thanks you for your assistance in brining down the Syndicate!" Nyos was speaking loud enough for the civvies to hear. It was all on purpose. He knew the reputation of Jedi has been towing the line as of late, but if he could change the minds of the people about this Jedi. Then maybe they could have hope the Jedi aren't all going darkside and becoming whiny little Banthas.

"Jedi knight Veino Garn. I thank you personally on behalf of this fine city, for your work in the galaxy to right the wrongs and stop injustice as you come across it. You are a friend to the people" he said gesturing to the crowd, most of whom began to cheer and applaud.

Veino took the other's hand and shook it solemnly, understanding the purpose of this display, although uncomfortable with the publicity involved. He preferred to stay more low-key and invisible, doing his work and then moving on when the task was accomplished. That was why he deliberately chose bland traveler's clothes. But for now at least, he would have to be a hero for a while. He smiled and bowed, both to his comrade and the crowd, surprised at their cheers and exultation. It was unusual for him. Not something he had ever received. He realized he should say something. Something profound. Something meaningful. Something he had no idea how to.

"I'm honored," He began, stalling for to think of something to say, but then gave up. Words were Jeela's specialty, not his, but he continued, adjusting his voice to be heard. "But, it's just my duty to do what I can. It's something we can all do, to one extent or another." He paused for a breath, "It only takes a little to start a chain reaction that can make the galaxy a better place."

Nyos stood to the side of the Jedi as he spoke to the crowd. He radioed the local news provider and soon there was speeders and holocams buzzing about. He knew the Jedi was uncomfortable but this was someone who was worthy of being called hero. He still had a morality and virtue in life of combat.

To everyone out there who is afraid to stand up for what you believe in, look on this man of a humble nature who stood up when others kneeled. He is a hero, he is your hero, the Hero of Cloud City!!

Nyos sent a link of this to his Commanders back on Fondor. Included in the transmission was a full report and a copy of Nyos' personal holorecording from the entire mission. The Lord Protector would be pleased to see all of this. [member="Ayden Cater"]

Veino kept smiling and nodding, speaking quiet words to those that began to crowd around, and as the media arrived. This had escalated far beyond what he had anticipated for this stop. All he had wanted to do was stop by, pick up some cortosis, and then leave. Not get into a fight with a crime syndicate, lead to their collapse, and get a fifteen minute of fame deal. He was Jensaarai, and they dwelt in the shadows, operating unseen, and being viewed as little more than a legend.

Emotions continued to surge around him, and he was beginning to strain to keep the barriers up. His forehead tightened and heart-rate increased. This might end poorly at the rate it was going, but he pushed on, shaking hands and just generally be encouraging. There were so many though they were almost a blur, especially once the cameras began and reporters started shoving in, jostling for a piece of the action.

Nyos walked into the crowd and began to task of pushing them back. The Jedi was being crowded, and he looked overwhelmed.

Alright alright, let's move back. Give him some space.

Let's get out of here Jedi.

Veino nodded slowly with relief as Nyos made some space for him and suggested they depart. That sounded like a good plan. An excellent plan. He paused to kneel down in front a bashful young boy and give him a quick smile and encouraging words. What they were didn't settle in his memory, but the boys face lit up and he ran off excitedly. Veino pulled himself up slowly and followed Nyos, limping slowly as the exertions of the previous few days overtook him after the adrenaline faded away. Most of it dissolved into the Force, but some still lingered. He spoke, voice tired now, and rough.

"Where do you have in mind?"

Patting the Jedi on the back, Nyos pointed to a local cafe for some Caf and grub. Maybe the Jedi weren't all bad if more were like this one. Nyos escorted the Jedi into the Cafe and to a table, he ordered a pair of Cafs, and asked for menus. This had been a long day and even the servos in Nyos cybernetics were strained. He pulled out a servo souder and went to work manipulating the servos into peak condition. He looked towards the Jedi and gave a sigh of relief that today was over.

Veino followed slowly and collapsed into his seat at the table, head slumping down over the table until the caf arrived. Then he picked himself up and forced himself to drink it. Its rejuvenating energy began to seep through his rather battered and drained muscles, replacing the adrenaline that had kept him going beyond what he was normally capable of, even with the Force. Despite being a knight, he was still only human, and a young, somewhat underfed one at that. He could only push his body so far. He had pushed it that far over the past few days.

Now he wanted to sleep. Preferably for three days at least. At least. Then go tend his garden. He couldn't though. He had to keep moving forward and report this to the Saarai-Kar. He frowned and lifted his head,

"How much paperwork and forms will I have to fill out after this?"

Shargon had managed by seer luck to barely follow the two and now in his brown cloak he looked different. Shargon in his baggy cloak floated his way into the Caf and took a seat in a booth infront of another family. Shargon was couple feet away from the two and ordered a drink to look casual even though he physically could not drink. Shargon put his baggy robe arms on the table top and waited with his hood on.

Nyos ordered a sandwich from the waitress and sipped on his Caf as he waited.

"It's been a long day. I'm glad it's over now."

He held his Caf cup to Veino to cheers him.

Veino sensed a familiar presence nearby, and cast a quick glance towards the figure in a baggy brown robe, but didn't recognize him, so raised his glass to clink it on the lieutenant's glass. "You and me both. Nothing against Cloud City, but I'll be glad to be away from here." He frowned. "Not exactly the most pleasant vacation I've ever been on." He forced a wry smile.

Most traumatic, perhaps. Most stressful, definitely. He could still see their deaths at his hand flashing across his mind, and he could still feel every one he cut down. He'd probably be seeing them in his nightmares for months to come.

Shargon slowly looked up at them as he drink was placed on the table. At this point he asked the waiter to take the drink over to [member="Veino Garn"] the Jedi and the big Cyborgs Table. Shargon would wave once seen and gaze at them having his eyes in his hood turn a Green.

Shargon waved the Waiter off to them with a point and waited.

A waitress came over with a drink. Saying it had been purchased by a man across their position, in a baggy coat. Nyos thought nothing of it as he figured it was a random citizen who'd seen their heroics on the news. Word did travel fast in Cloud City.

"I do not blame you Jedi. I too wish to be off world and back to my business. If you need anything, let me know." He slid a business card for InVal Cybernetics to Veino just as the waitress brought over their food.

Nyos thanked the woman and happily dug into his meal. He as voted the flavors of the cooked meat and fresh produce. It was the best sandwich he'd had in a long time. He might have just been very hungry but at this moment, he didn't care.

He wiped his mouth as he'd remembered what the Jedi's original plan for this visit was.

"You're here for some metal aren't you? Cortosis, right?"

Veino nodded appreciatively as the waitress brought food and the drink and ate mechanically, which was a tad ironic, given his companion. He looked at the business card, and then slid it into one of his pockets.

"Thank you. I'll keep that in mind and," He paused, and pulled a pen from another pocket, and grabbed a napkin, writing down his information, and slid it over to him, "Should the Protectorate require my assistance, I'll do what I can to help." He took a few more bites, simply watching people flow in and out. Most were rather cheerful. That was always nice to be around. He nodded in response to the question.

"I am, yes. I need to pick some up before I leave."

(OOC-Sorry, been busy IRL)

Nyos put his finger to his ear as a comm came in.

"Alright thank you Sergeant, have it delivered to me. I will meet you there in ten."

"Good news Jedi...master [member="Veino Garn"]. It appears as though your wish will be granted. I just received word from my team that I am receiving a full shipment and I am transferring it to you. We can pick it up after we eat."

Nyos finished off his Caf and sandwich then paid for both of their bills. Then waited for Veino to finish so they may gather the Jedi's reward.

[member="Nyos Val"]

Veino finished his food and looked up in surprise, both at the master comment, and the fact he was just being given a shipment of cortosis. Those were both very unexpected. Words failed him, but he tried nonetheless.

"Thank you, I'm honored. I'm no master though. Just a knight." He shrugged, "Masters are far beyond me in wisdom and skill. And thank you so much for your generosity." He was not expecting that at all. Folks didn't usually just give away cortosis. It was rather valuable, and difficult to acquire. Jealously hoarded could better describe the way most beings owned it, and rarely shared. It gave one the power to face lightsabers in combat, which also brought an element of prestige to many folks of the unscrupulous sort. Relief to more scrupulous kinds.
