Veino Garn
Saaraai-Kaar
Veino nodded and hurried off ahead, winding his way through the tunnels, following the ever weakening presence of the woman, he picked up the pace, dashing ahead and sliding around corners. There was no point in stealth any longer. She was dying. That much was evident. And he had no training in healing. That was something he would have to remedy at one point or another. Nowmhismgoal was to find her alive to get information.
He slowed, focusing on controlling his breathing, slowing it down so it would be quieter. She was close now. Very close. He stopped, and listened. To his right. Small moans and hisses of agony from beneath a set of pipes. He walked over towards them, and dove to the side as a blaster bolt screamed out st him, ricocheting off the pipes and disappearing into the darkness. He reached out with the a Force and yanked on the pistol. It skittered along the ground into the shadows on the far side and disappeared.
He knelt down beside the pipes, bending down to peer underneath it. He could just barely make out the woman's shape propped up against wall, though he could feel her anger and despair and pain.
"Please, let me help you." His orders were for no survivors, but he could not in good conscience commit a murder. He had not committed anything that could possibly be murder while in the Fel Imperium, and he wasn't going to start now.
"I don't want your help!" She snapped and pushed herself farther against the wall, clutching her torso and arms, where blood trickled downwards. "You already killed me."
"I didn't fire those shots!"
"No, you idiot. By failing to complete he contract....I signed.... my death warrant." Her voice grew weaker, and Veino leaned forward to hear her better as it dropped to a whisper. She met his gaze and held it. "Something...is....coming....darkness...." Her presence vanishes, and Veino's shoulders slumped. He was tired. So incredibly tired. No matter what he did or how hard he tried, people died. Innocents, guilty, a combination of both. Each one felt like a piece of himself was torn out and erased from existence. He wasn't sure how much more he could take.
He slowly reached forward and pulled her body out from beneath the pipe and set her out on the floor. He closed her eyes, murmuring softly, and then sat there, exhausted, the previous day or so taking its toll on him. He wanted to rest.
