Faction The First Steps | Alliance/Republic/SJO

It had been nearly two years since the liberation of Coruscant. Two years of expansion and growth, but also of tension and uncertainty. The time had finally come to clear the air and open the formal dialogues that had been severely lacking. Within the Alliance, significant change had already begun. Abroad, however, the lingering reputation of their previous administration remained.

The Imperium had served its purpose - it was the hammer that was needed to set the first nail. There would be no Core Alliance today if the Lord-Imperator hadn’t rallied their governments to his cause. But now, Emmen knew, it would take craftsmen to complete their shared vision. Not just the vision of the
Core Federation of Free Alliances, but that of the Galaxy’s free people. The vision of unity - or, at the very least, of cooperation.

And so, it was with such intentions that the newly elected Chief of State called the meeting. His office had made contact with officials from
the Republic and Silver Jedi Order, urging them to send a representative to discuss the future of their great nations. Alongside the ambassadors of each of the Galactic powers, members of the unified Jedi Order were invited to stand in as neutral mediators in case of disagreements or misunderstandings. In addition, entrance into the Executive Office was made available to a select number of vetted civilians, allowing citizens the opportunity to sit in on these discussions, ask questions, and raise concerns to be addressed by the politicians, provided they pass the prerequisite security screenings.

----------

As his guests begin to arrive at the office, Chief Emmen Tagge pulls himself from his seat to greet them. Gripping his cane, the Tepasi man navigates around his desk to await each of the ambassadors. He stands at the top of the short set of stairs leading to the plateau his desk sat atop, a warm smile on his face. Behind him, through the viewport occupying much of the back wall, the grand skyline of Coruscant's Federal District and beyond can be seen in all it's urban beauty.

He offers a series of handshakes and simple pleasantries, as well as subtle bows and smiles to those not joining them at the table. "Welcome to Coruscant," he says with pride, honoured to see the turnout. Emmen shuffles his cane to his left hand and gestures to each of the four seats aligned infront of his desk, "Please, take a seat. Make yourselves comfortable. There are refreshments available," he gestures with a tilt of his head to the silver 3-PO droid waiting patiently at the left of the stage, watching diligently for any signal to approach.

The Chief then looks out across the office, to any others - Jedi and citizens alike - who have joined them for the occasion. "Gather around, friends! We simply ask for your respect and professionalism throughout these discussions."
The Federal Guard watch cautiously as the crowd grows from their positions along the entrances and along each of the two stairways leading to the plateau, though do not appear to be on edge. The sight only serves to bolster Emmen's joy, the smile on his face as clear as day by the time he arrives back to his own seat.

Clasping his hands together, Emmen begins to speak. "First; I want to thank each of you for accepting my offer and taking the time to come. I hope your travel was fine and your time thus far in Galactic City satisfactory. I know our nations have had disagreements in the past," he turns to regard the Republic representatives, offering a remorseful expression "in some cases, even more. But, there are opportunities here for us to improve. Not just ourselves, but eachother. For the benefit of all of our people."

He grins once more, emphasizing some of the wrinkles and scars along his face. "My hope is for us to be able to take the first steps toward a better future; for the Alliance; for the Republic; and for the Silver Order; here, today."

Jerec Asyr would not pass the prerequisite security screenings. Jerec Asyr had run enough spice, guns, and multifarious contraband that the phrase 'security screening' gave him a twitch. No, Jerec Asyr was not in the observation gallery.

Instead he was out front of the Federal Building with a large sign.

Ryv

Become One With All Things
Another day in Galactic City, where the skies were crowded in smog or speeders and trash lined every street equally. Ryv spent his childhood wandering around the city with his father on Jedi business, mediating disagreements between storefronts. It was the beginning of the kiffar's journey in becoming a real Jedi. Of course that all changed when the One Sith came knocking and a fraction of the Jedi Order split. The formation of the Silver Jedi Order may have damned the past iteration of the Republic, as well as trillions of lives across the core worlds. Some considered it old history, but to Ryv, the pain of losing his father in the aftermath never went away. It was why he was in Galactic City in the first place, side by side with one Maynard Treicolt, moving through the federal building.

Apparently, the newly appointed Chief of State had reached out to the other powers among the core. With three similar groups vying for control and territory, it only made sense negotiations would begin. Trade was a must to further each faction's agenda and the threat to the core grew as the Sith Empire fought to pierce the territory belonging to the Silvers. Every day was one step closer to annihilation at the hands of an ever-growing evil. This first step could potentially be the beginnings to a much greater power in the galaxy, one guided by those who seek peace and stability, rather than death and decay. But Ryv was getting ahead of himself. He always did when it came to the potential for declarations of alliances, versus those of war.

The Jedi looked over at Maynard from the corner of his eye, chuckling to himself as he studied his companion. "I gotta say, Maynard, I'm glad you're tagging along with me, but I think we stick out like a pair of aliens among confederate nobility," Ryv laughed once more after sharing the sentiment. His hands joined together, clasped together behind his head. "Unlucky about the short notice, ended up stuck with us representing the Order. Bet we'll do fine though. Not like anyone else was rearing to go," he stepped into the lift leading up to the executive office.

Years prior, his father stood in the same lift, ascending to the same office. Ryv hoped his first trip to meet the big man behind Coruscant would've been beside his old man, representing the republic's order. Maynard and the Jedi Order were more than enough. They'd all become his family, welcoming him with open arms when no one else would. It was one of the many things that pushed the Jedi padawan forward in his quest for growth.

"Oh by the way, Loske is meeting us," Ryv added in seconds before the lift slid to a stop. The doors opened, revealing their friend a few feet in front of them. "Ah, here she is," he smiled at their fellow padawan and aimed for the usual fistbump from Loske before nodding to the Chief of State.

"Your Jedi mediators have arrived, boss."

Karra exhaled heavily as the lift doors slid open, stepping out into the political arena. She wasn't one for socializing, it was the whole reason she had shut herself away in the first place, but she had been advised (AKA: Sternly told) that she would do good to put herself in uncomfortable situations so she could learn to get a grip on her fears and worries. In addition to that, if she wanted to be a negotiator as well as a healer, she was going to need to step into this Zillo pen at some point, it might as well be now. She looked down and patted the microbes of dust away from her dress, sparing a sideways glance at a reflective wall and looking herself up and down. It wasn't the most extravagant thing in the Galaxy, it was a pretty plain garment, but simple and comfortable was just the way she liked it.

She made her way to the plateau, sticking to the back of the crowds so she didn't draw any attention, she just wanted to watch after all. The amount of people did make it hard to see, though that was easy enough to fix. Quickly looking around to make sure no one was focused on her, Karra focused and her legs slowly started to stretch and thin a little, along with the rest of her body. The dress adapted quickly, and soon enough she stood above most of the crowd by half a head, giving her a clear view. Whatever happened today, she just hoped it was productive, she didn't like the thought of having come out here just to have her time wasted...

Not only was this his first time on solid ground in Galactic City, but under these circumstances? Things couldn't shoot the Jedi's nerves more. He had done just well enough flying under the radar of most any of the other denizens of Peace, cordoning himself to the hangar bays where he offered a free hand at repairing and refitting the starships of his force-wielding comrades. Now he was present to statesmen who held power among the most prominent Core and Mid Rim governments who had harbored this unified Jedi Order and made their stance against the Sith Empire known even in their disunity.

The Concordian was punching far above his weight class in political prominence. Not like his companions weren't doing the same, though Ryv in particular had outed himself as a true Jedi. Even if he was a few years Maynard's junior, he had a great deal of respect for him. He'd already seemed to conquer many of the very same short comings Maynard inflicted upon himself within his own internal struggles yet still remained embedded in deep humility. A paragon of the Jedi even if he never cared to realize it.

Biting at one of his fingernails he was visibly nervous, stopping only once the Kiffar addressed him directly.

"Nah I mean...it'll all be fine I figure- not sure I would've picked me when you got some rock solid Jedi runnin' around but hey..." Maynard said, offering a shrug of his shoulders.

"Loske is comin' too huh?" It must've been pretty easy to see the redness light up Maynard's gaze when Ryv made that passing remark, leaving the Jedi to mutter an 'ahh shit' under his breath. Not because of any malice he held toward her in the slightest. More so- admiration. An awe-strikingly attractive woman who was also a virtuoso at the sticks of a starfighter. Not much more Maynard would really want - but alas the man who'd come from a line of impoverish Concordian farmers and adherence to the Jedi ways did not culminate in a person who was sure of himself in these matters.

"Howdy, Blue." Maynard uttered in greeting to Loske, forming his best smile before his attention shifted to the Head of State.

Chewstim swapped from one row of molars to the other as she looked down at the streets below, keeping a careful distance to not actually press her nose against the glass while trying to read the message some fellow in tangerine was marching around with below. Quietly, she intoned what it said "Free...Spiceline..no..what? Space lanes....?" He was moving around too much to really get a good read, and she wished Frank were here to acquire sort of scan. He'd also been asked to wait outside, apprehension to illegal recordings and whatnot. Either way, it looked like a small cluster of people were gathering around the assumed protestor.

Loske was tilted to the right, trying to catch the sign as it turned around in her direction again when the sound of the lift doors depressing drew her attention, a salutations swiftly ensued. She righted, and visible relief evidenced on her features.

"Holy stars. I thought I was going to be early and alone forever, you guys." She admitted hurriedly under her breath while connecting knuckles with her friend, and tossing an equally cheery grin in Maynard's direction "Hey May!"

Their underdress preceded their unqualifiedness. In truth, this rendezvous was hundreds of stone throws away from Loske's scene, and she would have stayed far away were it not for all the effort Cedric had put into the Imperium getting to a certain place, and this was the afforded continuum. If he were in better health, he'd be in this place and if she had little to contribute, at least she could capture the memories and share them back. He'd had suspicions of someone here after Kuat, hopefully the stress of that whole conversation wouldn't be for naught. There was also the whole irony of her objecting so hard, for so long, about being a Jedi and then rolling up with two others claiming to represent an Order.

At Ryv's greeting to the head honcho with a good head of hair, Loske didn't see a need to add on to it with anything other than a salute in the gentleman's direction.

In the meantime, a few other folks were beginning to collect without making a direct B-line to the area the conversations would be held. Absently, she wondered if folks from outside the designated area would be allowed to contribute.

Yuroic arrived on Coruscant, he was a little confused on why he was brought to this world, wasn't this just another faction's world? He couldn't remember which faction controlled the former capital of the galaxy. He rubbed his temples, there was something about meeting people, that was all he could remember. Looking around, he saw a guy with a sign protesting against Jedi, Yuroic tilted his head, why would anyone be against the Jedi. Or think that this would change the order of things. Stretching, he felt his muscles slightly ache, he was starting to feel his age once again. Looking around Yuroic moved in as memories of what he was meant to be here for started to return to him.

He moved through the crowds of people moving on with their lives. Spotting others heading in the face direction as he was, Yuroic was one of the more senior members of the SJO and he was starting to feel that since most people in the SJO were faces that he didn't recognise anymore. It was like when he had first joined the Order, lots of faces that he didn't know, however everyone seemed to recognise him or knew his name. Pulling his cloak closer, he was feeling a little cold. He wandered through the building, looking for the meeting place. He wasn't going to say much, if anything, he just figured that he should poke his head as part of the Silver Assembly.

At least he was starting to remember why he had come to Coruscant.

Coruscant. It had been a long time since she'd visited, and it certainly wasn't as a government representative. She took a deep breath and adjusted her outfit as she entered the room. She had arrived with the Chancellor, and she waited until the Caamasi entered the room. The Alliance Chief of State was already present and welcoming them into the negotiations. Fable couldn't help but give an uneasy look towards where members of the public were welcomed. Last time they had tried something like this, there had been a barrage of terrorist attacks targeting them and the citizens of the worlds.

It didn't make sense. Why were people so adamantly against cooperation? Violently so and willing to kill. But that was the state of the galaxy. Not much that she could do to change all of that now. There were a few other Senators and Assembly Representatives as part of the entourage. Most she knew somewhat well, but this would be a delicate encounter.

The Caamasi took a seat at the table before he began to speak. "Thank you, Chief Tagge, for your invitation and hospitality. You do the galaxy a great service by beginning talks with the rest of us. And I do apologize for the misunderstandings between our respective governments in the past. Prior leadership... was a bit radical, perhaps?"

The alien gave a gentle smile before shaking his head. "But it is what it is, no? The past is done with and we now have a chance to look to the future."

As the owner of a great ship and space station construction corporation slowly expanding into several other areas of enterprise, it had been easy enough for the Duros who’d been nothing but a model citizen all his life to pass the necessary background checks to be selected as one of the (in his opinion frightfully few) individuals whose voices would be heard this day.

He was staunchly against spending an exorbitant amount of money on himself, which is why he travelled most places on public transports among the common citizenry. He had to admit that the average person had become gradually more civilized and, well, normal, following the resurgence of the Republic and the formation fo the Alliance, but the average wealth was still far too low for his liking.

There was, of course, a certain danger present when travelling in public as a, technically, high-profile individual, but Ced had endeavoured to keep his identity as obscure as possible, appearing as nothing more than a somewhat well-off duros engineer travelling alongside a few of his friends.

Before the great senate building, he took the time to acquaint himself a little with the crowds gathered here. There were, of course, the usual suspects. The save-the-purrgil fraction, spice-heads protesting bans on their preferred brand of poisonous spice, those who would see the core united under the hivemind of some obscure outer rim overlord, imperial resurrectionists, and so on. It saddened him that not all of their voices would be heard this day.

One group that stood out to him, however, was being led by an individual he recognized as familiar. He remembered reading the reports of the Republic’s defence of the core against the Frozen Hand imperial remnant. Specifically, their action to interrupt a most frightening ploy at Byss. All the major news outlets had been filled with holographs of the valiant men and women who had taken up sabre and blaster to defend the people.

Front and centre among them, he recalled, was the so-far unofficial Hero of Byss and by extension the Core.

“Mr Asyr!” The duros exclaimed as he approached the man. “First of all, I wish to thank you for your efforts to save the people of the Core at Byss, to me, at least, you are a hero, sir. What brings a man such as yourself to a gathering like this?” He continued in accented basic as he offered his hand to the spacer.

Kaito hadn't been to Coruscant in over a decade, long before the fall of the Galactic Alliance, when his Oyabuun was still alive and he was just a sword. As he and the Republic entourage flew into Orbit around the ecumenopolis he marveled at how the Imperium, now the Alliance, had so efficiently taken over the salvage and reconstruction operations on Coruscant. Even from the stars though he could see the remains of what he assumed was the old Galactic Alliance's flagship, the Vanguard. As they flew closer to the surface it was clear that Coruscant still had time before it was fully recovered. His gaze fell from the transparisteel viewports as they broke the cloud layer and he found himself wondering how these events would go. In terms of what he'd been briefed on by his superior, Diktat Starseeker of Corellia, the meeting was pretty cut and dry.

"None of your games this time Kiyoshi," the lifelong politician had told him days before the meeting. But wasn't that all politics was? Games? To be fair and honest, politics wasn't his game to begin with and he would have rather stormed the senate with his Ronin and forced the Senate to do his bidding, but that was short-sighted. The Jedi would have been on him in moments and even though he had Corellia's Director of Naval Intelligence in his pocket that sort of move would have forced the aging man's hand into getting in the way. Once again his life was dominated by a game of managing masks and today was the smiling, hot-headed, youthful diplomat.

Upon entering he made sure to take note of the various groups attempting to make their voice heard outside. He'd have to say something that got the most agreeable and valuable of those groups to rally behind the Republic, or at the very least Corellia and himself. Spice traffic, no good...Imperialists, he could work with...Anti-Jedi? That might be worth looking into...He smirked as he followed the shorter Caamasi Head of State and his other colleagues into the chamber and took his seat next to Fable, opting to listen to the two heads talk it out for a time.

The forehead tat looked familiar, something from Jerec's years as a shipwright with Gallofree Transports, but he couldn't place it. He passed his sign to another protester, shook the Duros' hand, and picked up a new sign.

"Jedi killed my first mate while trying to shoot us down outside their borders, so I'm pissed. Turns out I'm not the only one. Coruscant's got a long history of getting hosed by Jedi. Not that they all suck, they just need better leashes." He ignored the whole hero thing, mostly because today he didn't feel like playing that role or stringing the guy along. "Thanks for the thanks, though. You look familiar; do I know you?"

"Chancellor C'rel, a pleasure to finally meet you in person." Emmen leans forward with a slight bow of his head to accompany his greeting, "I'm happy to hear that you agree with these efforts. And, of course, I respect your opinions on our previous administration." The Tapasi folds his hands and rests them on his desk "I assure you, the Lord-Imperator's intentions were good. His means, well, I have no explanation for such. The Jedi do us - the citizens of the Galaxy - a great service in their duty. However," he looks off to where the mediators from the Jedi Order had taken their positions, offering them a sincere smile in an attempt to show he means no offense "I am inclined to think that politics are best left to those of us who have dedicated our lives to such a delicate, difficult art. Much the same as I wouldn't hope to fair against these fine padawans with a laser sword in my hands."

He chuckles at that,
"We each serve our purpose in the greater function and well-being of society, and we compliment eachother through our cooperation."

Holding up his hands to dismiss the point, he continues to remark on the Caamasi's words "I digress. You are right, Chancellor. We cannot change what has happened, but we are very capable of shaping the future."

It had been quite a few years since Ra had last been on Coruscant. Once she had learned what really happened in her past, she had not returned. Part of her missed the constant movement and life here, another part enjoyed the quiet life she had made with Josh and yet she still craved adventure. So here she was on a different type of one.

She had been selected to attend a meeting here with the new Alliance that had surfaced. In her life, she had been the rise and fall of several governments and wondered how long this new facet would remain. Not giving any voice to her thought, she would be closed from people trying to get into her mind and read it.

As had been custom when she was Sith, she kept her alignment hidden though she was no longer Sith. This was more habit now than anything else. If anybody did attempt to read what her alignment was, all they would be able to sense was she was neutral and not very strong. One of them could be considered accurate, not the other.

Pushing aside some of her random thoughts to the side, she focused on the situation at hand. Listening to the introduction speech given, she nodded. Her role here was not that of a diplomat but a merchant. Here she could speak for that and nothing else.

Eyeing the droid in the corner, she silently wanted to know if it was a free droid or kept here against its will. Giving herself a mental shake, she wasn't here to free droids. Turning her attention away from the droid, she looked around at the other people arriving.

Most of them she did not know, but that was pretty normal for her. Even if she was a businesswoman, she didn't often mingle with advisors and other leaders. Over the years, she had met and made friends with a few. Only once the Coalition fell in the Core had that stopped.

In her thoughts, a few of them crossed her mind. Two very important ones were first. Cedric and Faith. One she had given a vow to and she had not broken it. That vow no longer mattered and her life was different now than it had been then. From that encounter and subsequent happenings, she had never again given a vow like that.

Remembering the time she had spent with both Cedric and Faith with happiness, that might actually show in her expression. Neither of them were present for a reunion, so she returned to her people watching. There was one familiar face in the crowd and she gave Yuroic a slight nod. Their encounters had always been rather brief, but they had crossed paths several times. He seemed a bit lost and confused. Maybe almost mirroring her own feeling. Ra was not a diplomat.

Taking a seat, she made sure Elise would be able to sit with her and listen until it was her time to speak. She kept silent and waited. When it was the correct time, the subject of trade would be opened and negotiations would begin.

Coruscant was the center of the Galaxy and for many, it was a snapshot into the state of the said galaxy. With large swaths of the planet still under reconstruction and rescue efforts from all those years ago, much of the planet seemed to continue as if nothing had happened. In this, Coruscant was much the same as the rest of the Galaxy - quick to get back on its feet despite its traumatic past and damages. Now it was the home of a new Alliance, once the Greyson Imperium, and Quin wasn't sure how he felt about that. He'd seen reports that the people that wildly supported the Jedi ruled government had fallen to the wayside, allowing for Democracy to take hold at the center of the galaxy once again.

Originally slated to join other scholars and dignitaries of various systems and companies found in the Alliance and the Republic, Quin had spotted a group that he heavily empathized with. His older sister, a Jedi Knight, gave him a look of disapproval but his older brother gave one of understanding. The two looks combined gave him enough confidence to leave the line for the security screening and join the protests. Ever since Mirial, Quin had held the Jedi in contempt for what they had done over the last few years and the way the Jedi of the "Alliance" conducted themselves, acting like they were the only ones qualified to run the Core and Rule...It boiled the large green man's blood.

Rolling up his sleeves and unbuttoning the top few buttons of his tunic, he grabbed a sign in his big hands and joined the Jedi Accountability group.

“I’m sorry for your loss, Mr Asyr.” The duros’ expression softened as he replied, “I get around a little, so you may very well know me. My name is Ced Vanseim, I work with Pri-APS, a duro-based shipbuilding company; used to be involved with their local parliament a while back, too."

He paused a moment in reflection. "Enough about me, however, this matter of Jedi overreach seems quite serious.”

The group of Jedi Accountability protest group appeared to be slowly growing and for good reason, the duros imagined. His interactions with the keepers of the peace were limited to the occasional holo-vid or recreational light novelization of semi-historical events, but the tensions that had been growing between the order and the people of the galaxy were far from lost to the CEO. Ced gazed towards the security line leading up to the senate briefly, rubbing his chin absentmindedly.

“I assume you intend on speaking about this issue in the senate today?”

Elise had arrived quietly-- through back doors and down empty halls. The woman had no desire to be here today; matters of politics were not her concern and frankly it just wasted time better spent helping others. That was why she had requested Riamah Riamah join her. For matters of trade, Riamah was better qualified to speak on SJO's behalf. If the discussion progressed further, which Elise sensed it would, she would be there to take over.

She grimaced at the prospect, the woman silently taking the seat besides her travel companion. In her opinion, Jedi made better peace keepers than political figures. Though... maybe that was an unfair statement. The jedi meeting on Peace had proven her peers were more than capable of talking in circles.

Wasn't that all politics came down to in the end?

She wanted none of it, yet at the same time found herself stepping up into the role for the Silver Jedi. Peace took work, and it wasn't always pretty.

She folded her hands in her lap and fell still, her gaze heavy as it studied each person in the meeting with them.

Amadis had been to a lot of moots, political gatherings, talks of alliances. They often ended up with training sessions, talks of philosophy, sometimes a lot of shouting, sometimes a bomb or a surprise sith reveal who then ran off, realizing five hundred Jedi in a single room was a bad crowd to take on. Occasionally a fleet would attack from orbit, sometimes free food would be offered, it was an unpredictable event, but one thing remained constant.

The grizzled Jedi master, with more than one scar upon his brow, hated politics. Realities of decades living on sith borders had honestly made him tune them out, especially to cries of protest at barely surviving it, which to be honest made him grin at naive wishful thinking as he passed. Thankfully as he got older he could find comfort in just being present to hear what was said, offering moral support, an extra body to head off any sithspit looking for attention, and occasionally being a leg to trip up an overzealous voice or two, usually the outsiders looking to shout people down rather than offer anything.

So it was one armored Jedi Master who had still not shaven appropriately and galaxy knows perhaps never would learn how, entered by the side of Elise and nodded to her. He had a choice of guarding the door or standing to her back, today the Epicanthix would stand by her back through whatever came, and leave the doorway to the younger Jedi to protect. Crossing his hands behind his own back, if you looked careful he had not come alone but instead prepared, and had a gadget or two on his belt, a pistol, along with his lightsaber.
