The Fox and The Hound (Vulpesen)

Neshoba caught the nutrient bar. She sniffed it a little. Whoo! That was strong... Cautiously, she took a couple bites. It tasted more like meat once in was in her mouth. It was actually really good! Nesh continued eating the bar, leaning against the counter behind her.
What's the pup? And what are you?
She asked, looking down at Ace and then back up at Vulpesen.

Vulpesen chuckled a bit and flicked his tail towards Ace. "Ace here is an ashlan wolf. And you can't hear it but he can talk. They use telepathy, much like you do. Though, it only works with their bondmate, in this case, its me. As for what I am, I'm a zorren. We're almost extinct, but that's something I'm working on."

[member="Neshoba Nodi"]

Zorren. That was an interesting name. So was Ashlan Wolf. Nesh wished she had a name for what she was. But maybe she was the only one of her kind. Which meant that her name was also the name of her species.
Do you know what I am?
She had a feeling that Vulpesen wouldn't. However, it never hurts to ask, right?

Vulpesen shook his head and finished off the protein bar. "Afraid not. I was taught many species in my time as a merchant. But, I never saw any of your kind, unless you're a ruferallihuin. Which I don't think you are." He glanced over to the pilot's console. "Maybe the Veran libraries could hold the answers. But that would require a trip to Veradune."

Nesh seemed a little less perky for a few minutes. Well, back to square one. Being alone wasn't so bad, right? Maybe... She ate the rest of her bar and went over to where Ace was sitting. She started scratching behind his ears, knowing full well how good it must feel.
Must be nice to have a species. Knowing what you are. Where you belong.

Vulpesen rose a brow at her, his mouth widening into a smile. However, his eyes showed something far different, a sadness that only appeared in few people of the galaxy The look of knowing that who and what you are, is on the verge of extinction. "Not as nice as you think. I'm twenty-three. It wasn't until I was eighteen that I learned that I wasn't a human. In fact, I had no idea what a zorren was. I was worse than you. Not only did I not know what I was, I had no idea that I didn't know." His hand lifted to play with the pendant around his neck. "I'm the alpha of the Zorren race. All fifteen thousand of us.... most races are in the trillions at least. I assure miss, my position isn't as different as yours and I'm not so sure that its much better." With his speech, Ac's thumping leg slowed to a halt. While he still enjoyed the scratching, there was a change from the residual sadness he picked up from his bondmate.

Neshoba looked up at Vulpesen, her ears and tail drooping a little. To only just figure out what you were, and then leanr that what you were wouldn't be around for much longer did sound a lot worse.
Mama told me I was a freak when I was a pup. Never let me go outside. Always in my room, with books. Couldn't hunt, or do anything that was like a wolf. She said that she only took me in because she pitied me. Didn't act like it though. Even when I left, I was still a freak.

Vulpesen eyes narrowed and his hand clenched around the talisman. "She was a fool." Granted, Vulpesen had never knew of his canine heritage, but Zarro had. Lucky for him, Zarro also had the foresight to bring him out for training and the like. "Perhaps you're strange and different. But in my experience, such things are never bad. If anything, it has only brought good fortune." He flashed her a genuine smile. "But lets say you are a freak. So am I. I'm a freak that has lived one of the freakiest lives the galaxy has ever seen. That being said, I'm still alive and I think my life has gone rather well so far."

[member="Neshoba Nodi"]

Neshoba shrugged a little. She didn't necessarily think her life had been good or bad. She hadn't really lived it long enough to really know for sure. She lightly poked Ace's nose and wandered over to a chair. She sat in it, gathering her knees to her chin and hugging her legs.
What're other Zorrens like? Are they like you, or are they each different?
[member="Vulpesen"]

With a shrug he let his tail swing over into his lap. "Well, that depends on what you mean with like me. Fur colors vary, though all purebreds have tails. Also, we share an instinct to protect." He looked over to Ace who sneezed lightly at the small poke then trotted over to lay down on the table between the two.

[member="Neshoba Nodi"]

An instinct to protect. That seems nice. Do you all have Ashlan pups?
Neshoba watched Ace sneeze. The tiniest smile formed on her lips. He was a cute little tike.
[member="Vulpesen"]

He let out a small laugh. "No. Not even from the same planet. In fact, I've had Ace since before I knew I was a zorren." He cast a glance to Ace who had a lazily opened eye looking at him. After a short pause he turned back to Neshoba. "Actually, Ashlans are always looking for bondmates. Maybe some day I can take you to the conclave."

Neshoba's ears perked up. The thought of getting a puppy to call her own made her tail start wagging. She looked at Vulpesen with widened eyes filled with child-like excitement.
You would take me with you? To get a puppy?!
[member="Vulpesen"]

He let out a laugh and nodded. "Aye. But careful, they understand every word in intimate detail. Likely some of them wouldn't be a fan of being called a pup." Ace lifted his head and gave a small nod. "Anyways, we can go whenever you're ready. Whither its now or a few days." He reached over to start petting Ace.

[member="Neshoba Nodi"]

Neshoba's eyes closed in a large, toothy smile (^w^). She whimpered happily, her tail wagging even harder than before. She'd never had a pet before. Much less one that could communicate back to her like that. What would it be like? Would she even find one that liked her? What color would it be? Nesh's thoughts started running a mile a minute with all the possibilities.

Vulpesen let out a laugh and stood up before heading to the cockpit. "By the way you're bursting with energy, I take it you're not one for waiting. Unless of course, you left something on world during your hunting trip." He motioned to Ace who ran over to take his place on the piloting rig.

[member="Neshoba Nodi"]

Nesh thought for a moment. She still had a week or so of hunting trip left. Captain Thorn probably wouldn't even notice she was gone. She jumped up out of her chair and followed Vulpesen to the cockpit. She was a lot like very happy puppy herself.

Vulpesen smiled at her and started to type into console, setting course for Myrkr. Soon after, the Twilight Vixen would lift over the atmosphere and begin its journey to the jungle planet. "So Neshoba, have You ever been to Myrkr?" He doubted it given the hostile nature planet and its lack of resources. But there was always a chance.

[member="Neshoba Nodi"]

Neshoba shook her head. She'd only been to five planets since she left home. Coruscant, Taris, Endor, Felucia, and Kashyyyk.
What's Myrkr like? Is it wild?
[member="Vulpesen"]

He grinned and gave a nod. "Extremely. But i suggest being careful and staying close. most things on that planet are made to kill you. Though, the Ashlan conclave should be safe from such dangers. Just try not to touch anything, even pretty flowers. I've seen faces become severely disfigured from touching the wrong petals."
