Alarms blared, and Fiolette was on her feet, "status on the Galewind?"

"Not lookin' hot," Anadyr reported as she moved her fingers across the console, "she's holdin' but they're throwing damn near everything at'er."

"Right time to draw some attention, open channel to the 419." She ordered turning her attention to Lieutenant Farrah. The Rakal itself had begun to take damage from enemy fighters even with their two Muhktiar-type vessels they couldn't keep up with them all. With the Galewind diving headfirst into the fray, the Rakal was only bound to be on the receiving end of the fight at some point.

Farrah turned and gave the signal, communications to the task force were open.

"Attention Black Talons, we'll be surging forward ahead of the Galewind, formation Dosuun-Delta-Seven."

Balance, she didn't think she'd have to revert to this old tactic this fast, the 419 formations shifted, "activate the offensive screen Aurek-Alpha-Shiar."

In the midst of the battle, the near fourteen hundred kilometer task force pushed ahead going over the Galewind the Rakal shifted to the tip of their formation. "Narrow mass-drivers on the Dutchman, now!" All six double-barrelled mass-drivers shifted their focus from the tartan patrol cruisers to the Dutchman as they pushed forward, Fiolette watched the viewport as the distance between her task force and the FWC Fleet closed, "ready up plasma torpedoes."

"Right away," Farrah acknowledged and directed an ensign to the task as he kept watch over the Rakal's navigational controls and communications.

Thijssen reported, "Commanders Galeway and Montague have activated all weapons, requesting permission to switch targets to the tartans."

"Granted, they may fire at will, keep our Muhktiars on us," Fiolette ordered.

"Plasma torpedoes at the ready, mag-pulse torpedoes also at the ready." Farrah relayed to the Galidraani Captain who waited a moment or two before giving the order.

She watched as the distance clicked down, they were pushing forward with the Muhktiar and Farooq on either side of her their Bolt packs arranged in a wedge-like shape behind their respective leaders. Altogether they had formed the infamous delta shape and looked to spearhead over the Galewind and straight into the FWC lines. With luck, they could draw the FWC away from the Sith just long enough for the Sith to slam home into the shipyards and consequently the ring. "Fire, all torpedoes."

The Dutchman flew parallel to the planet leaving the Rakal with a small visual on her broadside, starport from what the readings showed and the Rakal let loose all torpedoes.

“Hey!” Saoirse practically jumped at the shock. It wasn’t painful really, but it did not take much of an electrical discharge to get a reaction. She felt a real strong temptation to kick the thing, but that was hardly a way to repay her liberator.

There wasn’t much time for anything other than mean looks before the doors opened, which completely changed the tune. Motherfething kath houndshe muttered in disbelief at the sight that met her in the hallway. Dead bodies littered the halls. She couldn’t help but laugh, exchanging looks with Daro but also with the murderbot.

“You did this?” Mah little friend ain’t playin’ ‘round. “He sure isn’t” Oh baby. Suddenly she wasn’t too bothered by her hangover. Life was starting to look up again. Sure, people were dead, but these were people that undoubtedly would have been hard at working putting them down had they tried to escape. Saved them the hassle. It was hard to feel guilty about that, Saoirse found.

Saoirse saw what Daro was doing and nodded to herself. She snuck by a dead guy, snagging his hat, while walking past until she could find ideally a female but at least someone roughly her size. “This kid’ll have to do” she muttered. Suddenly things were getting a lot more personal when yanking clothes off a dead guy, but the increased intensity of the booms that shook the entire station had a way of kicking one’s survival instinct into high gear. Back turned to Daro, she quickly made the transition from filthy prisoner to anonymous officer.

Just as Saoirse was gonna nag with a ‘we doing this today?’ Daro got the job done. “Here we go” she said with a grin. Ideally she wanted to run, but instead she settled for a more casual semi-jog, considering they were supposed to be staff on duty after all. When they came into areas with other people she slowed her pace, kept her hat low as were her eyes. She didn’t speak, but gave Daro a side-eye and expression trying to communicate ‘not long now’. Presumably if all else failed, the droid would have a map of the way.

Surprisingly, they didn't get shot down before they reached the drive yards.

Alistair would have bet a penny and a half that their fate was already sealed the moment he saw the first star destroyer, but somehow they managed to make it all the way to the orbital station with only a few glancing turbolaser blasts sailing over them. "Bigger fish to fry."

The smuggler muttered to himself.

Without a word Alistair turned them beneath the driveyards proper, letting The Mara II flow below the shipyard and out of view. The ship slowed for a moment, it's engines slowly rumbling as they came to a stop. Glancing up Alistair saw the small docking arm, his fingers gently pushing the automation controls so the vessel nudged itself up and against the station. There was a slight racket as the ship docked, a hiss resounding loudly as he bounded from his seat.

"Alright." Alistair said as he drew his blaster and checked the powerpack. "Let's get my money."

A frown crossed his lips as he looked at Kinsey. "Errr...refugees."

Daro glanced over to see what she was doing just to get repaid with a eye-full of-

Sweet mother fethin- feth.

Quickly he looked back at the panel, while she was redressing, while Clip chittered in a bemused tone at his discomfort. "I will show ya a cold shower, ya heartless little bastard." Daro muttered back softly, before finally getting access to the plans of this floor. He synced the controls with his Eye and that allowed him to leave the terminal, but still have the view of the blueprints overlayed over what he was seeing.

They walked calmly, hurried, but calmly.

Just the right pace for a base under attack without actually sprinting in the universal language of: Hey, pay attention to me and what I am doing, please!! It didn't take long before they skipped a corner, walked through a hallway and ended at the hangar bay.

Or.

Well.

It was the entrance to the hangar bay. The only problem here was that said bay was closed off, the bulkdoors reinforced and currently not giving them entry. Daro stared at the door, before letting his eye brush the walls surrounding it. "Keep on da look-out, luv." A glance towards her gave him the memories of what he had just witnessed a few moments ago.

Daro gulped.

Need more fething liquor for this sort of stuff.

Trusting that the woman would keep her end of the bargain Tarsi approached one section of the wall, letting his fingers brush the metal.

They found the door to the hangar without issue. Of course it had to be locked. Can't get something without paying for it one way or another. Luck in the present had a way of swinging back in the future whenever it suited it. Nothing came free. Except alcohol. She didn't pay for that.

With a mini-blaster close at hand she casually walked back a bit, keeping guard. It was a nice comfort should the disguise fail to hold.

The moments dragged on, slowly slowly. Until footsteps were heard approaching. She turned to give a quick look to Daro but he seemed hard at work, too much wrapped up in his own deal possibly to take notice of her. Or maybe he was intentionally trying to keep his eyes off for some reason.

Two men waltzed up to a casually disinterested Saoirse, leaning sideways against the wall and seemingly too occupied staring at her own nails. What a mess. Her eyes quickly changed subject.

"Hey, what's going on here? This area is supposed to be cleared" he had looked so nice at first, like he was gonna hand out some friendly greeting but changed his mind last moment. Damnit. "Yeah. That's why we're here" what did that even mean? She left that for him to figure out.

"What? No, I'm pretty sure we're the only ones supposed to be on watch this area." they had more pressing matters than to overbook this hall, she got it. "We're not on watch. There's an issue with the hangar door. We're handling it" they exchanged a puzzled look, as if hesitating to blurt out the obvious in fear of looking stupid. "But... It's supposed to be... Actually, who's your supervisor?" "Martinez" she shot back almost immediately and without a moment's hesitation. In terms of guessing the karking name it was one in a million, but she hoped she'd fly on confidence alone. An awkward, fake pause followed by a sudden reach towards his belt area told her probably it didn't.

She spun an elbow right into the side of the head of one of the security officers, slamming him into the wall and pretty much knocking him out cold then and there. Coming out of her spin she had her blaster ready and pointing at the last guy, who also had a hand on his but sadly for him it still remained in its holster. "Drop it! And step to the side!" she commanded him, transitioning this over into a controlled hostage situation. Which came with its own problems.

"Actually, nah" she pulled the trigger, and with a thud the man dropped to the ground. "How's the door coming?" she called back to Daro, the urgency in her tone impossible to miss. Now there were two bodies up in here too. She fired another round from her pistol.

The explorer on a mission gave Alistair a very pointed and direct look. The look. "We'll get both." The engineers were her first priority. Well, the Vagrant fleet's. A good chunk of the fleet was comprised of corellian refugees. And with all the war the 'verse was seeing, it looked like their fleet was only going to grow.

Hopefully their corellian comtact was still alive. She didn't want to face Wesseq if the mission got botched. The duros was a bit unnerving, almost like he was constantly weighing and measuring your worth.

Kinsey followed on Alistair's heels. They may not like each other or even be friends but she was getting used to reading him. And there was something to that. Better than a stranger. The devil she knew.

Brak was already rising from his seat, toothy grin on his reptilian face as he fell in line behind them. Kinsey caught the wary gaze he gave Fenn. Alistair was definitely an outsider to Brak, being vouched for by Kinsey.

When the ramp lowered within the seal, they were met with...chaos. The air within the station smelled tangy, like they'd just lost some oxygen. And there was a hint of smoke. Workers were scrambling to evacuation units. Security looked like they were trying to help. Kinsey drew the comm to her lips.

"Boris. We're here."

For a tense moment there was silence. Then the comm crackled and his voice sounded on the other end. They were on their way. And they needed help with some of the cargo.

She looked to Brak and Ali. "Let's go."

"Taking fire," Lieutenant Farrah reported, "closing in on the Dutchman."

"Lock all weapons on the Dutchman," Fiolette ordered, "bring us within two."

The goal now was to bring the Rakal within two kilometers of the Dutchman, once achieved the Rakal would begin sending gravity hammers into the Dutchman's side. The hope was that between the plasma and mag-pulse torpedoes she wouldn't put up much resistance. "Task force taking fire, engaging evasive maneuvers." Farrah continued to report and looked over his shoulder to see Thijssen and Anadyr working at their respective stations sending their reports to the Captain as they came.

Fiolette realized their shields and evasive tactics wouldn't last long, so now the question was. How much was she willing to gamble for Kuati? Losses on this level were more personal than when she commanded the armadas of various empires. Here she knew the recruits, she knew each man and woman and their families. "Once we get in range of the Dutchman, I need the rest of the Task Force to break off."

"Ma'am?"

"You don't need to pay for my ambition, close formation Dosuun-Delta-One." She ordered and looked over at the Lieutenant.

Task Force 419 shifted once more this time they grew tight forming a single spearhead, diving straight for the Dutchman. "Captain, one of the Star Destroyers has been immobilized."

"Good, send the report to Vice Admiral Denko it'll be her choice to either destroy or capture her." She responded as the lieutenant sent word to the Sith-Imperial forces, as the Victorian Task Force. "Have Commanders Galeway and Montague continue to engage all weapons on the fighters, engage Bolt Pack Muhktiar on the ISD nearest to the Dutchman same for Bolt Pack Farooq."

Targets changed, the Bolts would now focus all fire on the ISD that had yet to be disabled, launching all plasma torpedoes and various weaponry on the Dutchman's escort. Meanwhile, the Rakal would close the distance between herself and the Dutchman while her primary armament ripped into her. The Rakal shook violently from the oncoming hail of turbolaser fire, and all Fiolette could think of was that she would hold. She would hold just long enough for Fiolette to board the Dutchman with a small team of marines and get to the bridge. "Once you break off from the Rakal, turn to the back of the Sith fleet and continue firing."

He heard the first bolt fly, then close behind that the second one.

Head tilted.

Then Daro kept on tinkering on the control panel.

Years ago, when he had been younger and less jaded, he might have gone to blows over this with Saoirse. Every life mattered and even if they didn't, they weren't murderers, were they? But that was then and then is now and now Daro couldn't summon up any feelings of care about the death of a couple of no-name guards. Too much had happened, too many scars, too much hurt in his bones. It was just the way things were as far as Daro was concerned.

"Pick their pockets, will ya?" Daro finally murmured as he hot-wired the connections between two wires that made the door sizzle. Soon, he was almost there, he could feel it in his bones. "ID cards, anything, dat will sell nicely on da black market."

Or maybe he'd break in and get himself a semi-permanent security key inside KDY.

Options were aplenty.

Especially cus they were dead and the Drive Yards would probably be annihilated by the way the explosions kept coming in a steady fashion. It would probably be a few weeks, before the huge conglomerate would finalize the death toll and stuff. That took time- especially when there weren't teeth or anything else to identify. A couple of weeks of privileged access... hmmm that made him cheer up just a little bit. Of course, the bing of the doors suddenly slicing open?

Well, that frankly made him grin like a madman.

"We in, luv, lessee what these Kuat types got in dere R&D bays."

"Right" Saoirse replied a little distantly. She hadn't actually considered that. A younger version of herself might have been appalled by her actions. But these days, no matter the circumstances, she always seemed to find a way to justify it to herself. And what she had seen had not exactly given her great faith in the good of people. There was something corrupt and twisted lurking deep down in everybody. The Galaxy did not weep for any of them.

She ransacked them with a distant efficiency, like picking off of a mannequin. "So you expect me to do the dirty work and you just reap the benefits?" she said as she walked back to the hangar door, ID cards and valuables in hand. She maintained the stern facade for about a moment longer, before tossing the ID cards over to him with a smirk, while hanging onto their credit chips. She doubted there'd be anything on them anyway, but Daro might be able to work something out of their IDs. That was his area of expertise much more than it was hers, she was sure.

Goodwill among thieves? Perhaps it was only fair to recognise that in the end, his plan had gone rather smoothly. Aside from the whole clock ticking down rapidly towards impending doom and the station's utter annihilation. In any case, this was a joint effort after all.

"Yesss" Saoirse rubbed her hands together with glee as the hangar opened. She expected the whole area to be abandoned, and by the looks of it it was. Devoid of life, but boy was there beauty to be found within. The treasure box contained for the most parts half-constructed ships, but a few of them looked finished. All of it looked like cutting edge R&D material, at least to her eyes. Was that drool on her chin? She wiped her cheek and stepped inside.

As the whole base shook to the point where she only barely maintained balance, she found this was neither the place nor time to enjoy the scenery. "Okay maybe we save the cool slow-walk for later" she started jogging in the direction of the finished ships, but her eyes were always darting for something she might be missing. "What do we like, what do we like" she said out loud, before turning to her partner in crime. "What are you thinking toots, fly out together or we each pick our favourite?" It was a fair question. Hopefully their story would have a happy ending. Usually, though this was far from Saoirse's mind, this was the stage when all the backstabbing happened.

She lost sight of [member="Alistair Fenn"] through the rush and chaos of evacuating bodies. Brak grunted hear her shoulder, putting up a massive paw to block some of the stream of evacuees so they wouldn't get bowled over.

"Thanks," she breathed gripping her blaster tightly in her hand. Getting past a pair of blast doors, the crowds began to thin, significantly, thought he smoke began to thicken. Blues began to water. Comm crackled at her side even as she saw Boris with the handful of other engineers. They were pushing a couple of crates on carts with repulsors.

"Brak cover us," the Barabel grunted and turned his back toward where they'd come as Kinsey jogged up to greet Boris, offering him her hand and taking over one of the carts. "Kinsey Starchaser, Vagrant Fleet. We're your ride. You got the plans?"

Boris, one of the main engineers from the R&D team nodded and motioned to his crew to follow. They didn't have time to wait. "And what we all agreed on is all here," he spoke gruffly with a thick, Corellian, clipped accent. Would've been nice if things went smooth from there, only, they didn't.

The ground began to rock from explosions from deeper in.

"Unlikely, little one. They seemed fit to focus most of their time of the Galewind that they have yet to touch the Song of Truth. Perhaps the Militus-class is more intimidating than I had previously thought. Either that, or the Coalition has adopted the strategem of the Silver Jedi and Galactic Alliance. Either way, our mission is almost complete. The ring is taking heavy fire and should fall in no time."

The Galewind was reeling from the overwhelming barrage of fire upon it, but all that had seemed to died down for now. The ship was beaten beyond repair at this point and it had no reason to attempt escape from the battle. At this point, it was a hunk of metal holding a bunch of smaller hunks of metal. As a last ditch effort, the Galewind diverted all powers from the shields into it's weapons. There wasn't much left to do this with, but it would matter in the long run. The remaining warheads were unleashed on the ring along with a final barrage of capital weapon fire was unleashed from the Galewind. This last ditch effort was followed by silence from the ship. The ion cannon fire disabled all of the ship's systems. The ship was falling apat from the inside and the droid crew were on the move towards the hangar bays to complete their next mission.

As the Galewind drifted, several MAAC/ivs emerged from the hangar of the far side of the Galewind, making a beeline for the ring, each one carrying about 100 M1s awaiting activation once they reach their intended target. The Galewind may have been defeated, but it had pulled it's martydom card just as the ship broke apart in a fiery explosion.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Scorchblade fleet focused heavy fire upon the ring, unleashed it's assorted arsenal collectively upon their main target.

"We read you loud and clear, Bad Luck Express," came a voice over the comm before Kalen could reply to Kaira. Some comm officer off of the First Order flagship. "First Order vessels have you tagged as friendly. Just stay out of the way and that won't change." Kalen clapped his hand back down on the comm button (which was somewhat finicky and required far more force than it otherwise should to register the push), speaking into his microphone. "Understood, Imperator. Try to stay alive." He turned back to Kaira, one eyebrow raised. "So you want me to fly down to one of the I-Beta-two frigates down there, help you fight your way into the bridge, and then make off with a giant frigate?" He turned, looking down at the ring again. It was getting blasted apart, but there were spots that were still relatively safe. And he caught one of the frigates they were looking at taking just sitting there, finished with drydock but yet to be crewed.

It was a tempting thought; if they could use it to cause some destruction and mayhem to the shipyards and other government property, they could come out of it with two frigates, thanks to the bounty. If the frigate they were going to take suffered significant damage, they'd still at least get one frigate. At the same time, Kalen had some bad memories of having to storm the bridge of a ship and take it. Fighting in the close corridors of a frigate wasn't his favoured sort of recreation anymore. Still, two people stealing a frigate in the middle of a battle would be the story of a lifetime. "Tell you what: I'll fly us down to that frigate down there," and he pointed at the one he saw, "And you and I can jump out and onto the hull near the bridge, with K1 here flying this thing. He can pound a hole in part of the viewport for us, we'll jump in, fight off anybody in the bridge before the safety measures activate and the broken window gets covered over with shutters, lock the door, and then K1 can land this on the hull of the frigate and mag-clamp it before boosting his way up into the bridge with us and taking control of the systems." He looked over at K1, who stuck out a small plasma torch and pointed it upwards as a thumbs-up. At least his astromech liked the plan. "Then we can open every hatch other than the bridge hatch, vent out all the crew and security, and then between the three of us we can probably manage to fly this thing enough to help blast part of the ring into oblivion. That sound like a good plan?"

Kaira waited patiently while Avram constructed his plan. It was a bit heartwarming, seeing him put so much effort into it. She didn't have the heart to tell him that she'd boarded more ships than he'd seen, with around half of them involving going through the front window like he suggested. Although... she did like the part about leaving his droid to fly the ship and provide aerial cover, as well as a way in. Her breaching charges were already primed and attached safely to her belt, but that opened them up for any bulkheads that might need to be opened.

Or... a bit of precision demolitions.

"Good plan." Kaira said, giving him a thumbs up. She'd learned early on that it helped to let people in your command feel proud of themselves. It helped with morale. And he needed to believe in the plan if they wanted to pull it off. Usually, she'd have an entire boarding team outfitted with jetpacks, mag clamps, and breaching charges. Two to jam the bulkhead shutter, two to cover the breach, and another two to actually plant the charges.

Now, they had to execute the same plan with two people. That meant fighting against escaping atmosphere to enter whatever hole they could punch in the five to seven seconds before the shutters fell to seal the hull.

"Let's move to an approach vector, then. And re-check your seals. I'd hate to tell your droid that you ate vacuum."

Kalen, in all his years of service as Mandalorian, mercenary, and later as a smuggler, had grown rather adept at reading people's facial expressions and body language. His eyes narrowed as he watched Kaira's reaction to his plan, and the thumbs up afterwards was positively insulting. "Before I do that," he started, not yet moving to the controls of his ship, "What's with the weird look you were giving me while I outlined that plan? You're the one that suggested we get in the normal-ish way and fight our way to the bridge, after all, and I don't like ship-based combat like that." He pulled the helmet of his armour on, all the locks and seals activating as it made itself ready for vacuum. All he'd have to do would be to shut off the external ventilator. He blinked a couple times, selecting a HUD command to check the armour seals, and each one came back as perfect. "And I don't think K1 would care too much if I suffocated, honestly. He'd probably be happy I was gone."

With K1 angrily buzzing behind him, he set himself back down at the pilot's seat, with his rifle and pistols up on the console in front of him. With a small start, the engines started to drive the ship forward again, the fitful machine seemingly fighting back against Kalen's input. "We should be on it fairly quickly," he grunted, fully transferring ship control to K1 and getting back out of the seat. He reached out, and clipped all of his weapons onto their designated spots on his armour, ready to jump. "K1, be ready to drop us on top of the command tower, and then get back and blast one of the viewports with the laser cannon once I give you the signal." The droid chirped in the affirmative, and Kalen started walking back through the ship, to where the cargo ramp was, waving for Kaira to follow him.

Once they were in the cargo hold of his ship, he commanded the blast doors for it to close, and then opened the cargo ramp; he didn't want to have to pump new atmosphere into the entirety of his ship once they were able to get back on it. It'd be hard on the life support system. From the view of the ramp, the frigate they intended to capture was starting to loom quite large and ominously. K1 chirped over their suit comms; just half a minute before their jump would be available. And the droid was already dodging laser fire from cannons on the ring and elsewhere, though the majority of the fire was focused on the other, much larger warships a slight bit further out. Soon enough, though, they were blocked by the frigate they were approaching. Upon a command to jump coming from K1 Kalen did so, hopefully with Kaira right behind him.

Floating weightlessly, Kalen didn't have a jetpack to help him get down. However, he had modified his BR-212 with a grappling spike launcher, that had been designed to harden the monofilament with a light electrical current rather than relying on atmospheric pressure. So, while Kaira might fly to the command tower on the frigate, Kalen instead pulled his rifle up to his shoulder, and launched the grappling spike once he was within fifty meters of the ship; the spike quickly punched into the hull plating on top of the command tower, and the winch that pulled the monofilament back and reconverted it into a liquid in its reservoir pulled him down to his spot. Once he and Kaira were secure, he turned around and made a sharp downward cutting motion at his own ship - Weird to see it pointed at me like that - and a bright lance of laser cannon fire arced out, slamming into the viewport just under them and cracking it open. He jumped down again, and fired his grappling hook launcher into the bridge, slamming into a bulkhead and fortunately pulling him in just in time to avoid the blast shutters clamping down over where the viewport was.

Although it wasn't particularly fortunate for the technician who had gotten pinned to the bulkhead when the spike lanced through his torso. Kalen gave him a quick bolt to the head to end the man a bit more quickly and less painfully, before wrenching the spike out from between his ribs. Then he turned around, at the stunned technicians and security forces, who were only just starting to stand back up. "Race to the bridge door controls on three," he said into his helmet comm, while the small security team members started trying to find where their weapons fell, or trying to untangle them from holsters that weren't meant for quick draws. "One, two, three!"

"Oh, that." Kaira said, grinning beneath her helmet. "I already planned for an EVA approach. I wanted to see if you could come up with something better. And that's why we're using your ship to blow a hole instead of my breaching charged." He probably wouldn't be happy about that, but the prospect of stealing a frigate with just two people was so exhilarating that she didn't particularly care. She followed him to the cargo ramp and jumped when they were within galactic spitting distance of the ship. Her jetpack kicked on as she flew through zero-g while Avram used his spike launcher to reel himself in. She'd done something similar before, but she much preferred the control that the jetpack afforded her.

Fire from their transport hit the bridge, cracking a large hole open in the viewport. Avram reeled himself in with Kaira hot on his heels. The shutters slammed down after them, re-sealing the bridge from space. Kaira began firing immediately as her partner took out an unfortunate technician. The skeleton crew on the bridge was stunned by the quick entry, and had almost no time to reach to the boarders. Two of the security team went down as Avram bolted for the bridge door controls. Kaira took out the last one then turned to do a sweep of the room. No one left alive. Either the remaining techs had been killed by Avram, or they'd died due to the rapid decompression.

She moved to the bridge door and put two shots through the control panel. No one was getting in through here.

Oh frak. That wasn't good. Maybe they'd tripped an alarm? Whatever it was, they needed to move fast.

Kalen raced for the controls quickly, charric bolts from his BR-212 slamming down any unfortunate souls who got in his way. Pretty quickly, the entire bridge was depopulated, with one of the viewports on the side covered over with a thick durasteel blast shutter where before it had glasteel. Before K1 had blown a hole in it. Unfortunately, Kaira was a fair bit quicker than the much-more-heavily-armoured Kalen, and she got to the bridge door and shut it down rather quickly. And messily. So, he instead jumped at the pilot's control panel right next to him, opening the blast shutter again and getting rid of the annoying tapping noise coming from it as he let his droid back in. As he started to input the command to close it back down, alarms started blaring all through the ship, even in the somewhat atmosphere-depleted bridge. The panel next to him had a large "ENGINE OVERLOAD IMMINENT" warning on it. He cursed, punching in commands quickly to take the ship out of the drydock and off into open space, breaking connection with whatever airlock extension was holding them down and transmitting the command. It still didn't stop what had already been done, and he didn't have the access to cancel the engine overload from the bridge, nor the time to get back down.

Just as he was about to turn and yell at Kaira and K1 to run back to his ship up top, the astromech droid beeped and whirred agitatedly, plugging himself into an astromech access point on the bridge, the extension twirling furiously while K1 continued to make all sorts of strange and angry noises through their comms. Fairly quickly Kalen felt the engines kick into full power and start pushing the ship harder, the inertial compensators taking time to warm up, while the warnings died away and alarms stopped blaring. He looked down at his console again - "OVERLOAD CANCELED." He closed the blast shutter again, letting the life support systems onboard start transferring atmosphere back into the bridge. Turning over to look at K1, he saw the droid sitting strangely still and quiet, something that worried him somewhat. K1 was never that quiet.

"Still with us, K1?" he asked the droid, who took a sluggish moment to respond. The disk-shaped head mounting turned slowly, the single large photorecptor focusing on Kalen as K1 gave a single beep in the affirmative. "It's a good thing I keep you around, droid, otherwise I'd be dead right now and I don't imagine Kaira would be doing too well either." Numerous hits registered on the particle shields in the back of the frigate; a quick examination of the explosion behind them as the drydock blasted itself apart and started falling for the surface explained why. Unfortunately, those shields were now open to taking a beating from the guns on the surface that weren't soon to be smashed by falling shipyards. "K1, raise starboard shields by twenty percent," he commanded to his droid, who started inputting commands again. "And lock down the hangar bays and the escape pods. I don't want anybody trying to get off this ship right now." He put in commands to turn the ship nearly ninety degrees starboard, bringing their broadside to bear on the planet below them - and enabling them to use two of their turbolaser and ion cannon batteries to pound some of those guns.

"Kaira, get on the gunner's station. K1, help her out. I want the two of you to pound those ground emplacements hard and give us an opportunity to get out. Focus on the ion cannons to take down any shielding they might have, and switch to turbolasers to do the real damage. K1, this ship have a name?" The droid beeped again, and sent the name over to Kalen's console, from which he quickly memorized it. "Open a comm channel for me, connect to the Sith and First Order fleets." He waited a moment, before jumping over to the comm station himself, broadcasting also on the ship intercom. "Sith-Imperial and First Order fleets, this is the new Captain Avram Mesenshuk of the KDY Exodus, recently liberated from enemy forces. We're going to try and take out some of those ground guns for you all, so we'd appreciate it if you tagged this craft as friendly and didn't start firing on us." He turned off the fleet comm, using only his ship's intercom now. "Current crew and technicians of the KDY Exodus, I hope you don't mind us saving your lives; I hope it shows you how much the people in charge of your planet actually care about you all. Anybody who wishes to stay and help us, feel free to do so, anybody who wants to get out, we'll let you off at the next planet we can safely stop at - for now, you have a vested interest in helping us all stay alive. If anything adverse should happen, I can't imagine you'll all like being spaced." He closed off the intercom, returning to the pilot's console.

The Exodus slowly lumbered around to complete its turn, able to bring half of its weaponry to bear on the cannons on the ground. "K1, when you get a chance, plot us a jump to Adumar. We might have to book it out of here really quickly if any of those ground emplacements start firing on us." He punched in more commands, stabilizing the Exodus so that it's momentum wouldn't keep it turning too far. Once the bridge's atmosphere levels had come back up to a safe level he deactivated his helmet seals, removing it and setting it on the chair behind him. "Expand our dorsal shields as well, if you can. I don't want my freighter to get picked off by a lucky shot." He looked out the viewport, at the expanse of the planet below him, and the falling balls of fire as parts of the shipyard re-entered atmosphere and started crashing into the ground. "I can't believe they'd just destroy the ring like that."

"On it." Kaira said, rushing to the gunner's station. She wasn't a great pilot. She wasn't even a very good pilot. But she knew how to shoot; it was a skill that tended to come in handy a lot. Although, the recent save by K1 pointed out how useful it was having a slicer within arms reach. And they wouldn't have survived this long without Avram getting them through the battlefield.

It was all about team work, and supporting the person beside you. Those were the people that lived to see the end of a war.

She took aim at the planet below and began firing the battery of weapons she had control over. It took a moment to figure out the weapon's unique feel, but she caught on quickly. Not that it really mattered. By now, the ring was beginning its descent into the planet. Some effort had been undertaken to break up the stations that comprised the massive shipyards, but it was akin to chopping up your vegetables before throwing them at high speeds into a piece of durasteel. One piece, larger than the others, began to list towards the planet before beginning its own descent to the ground below.

There wouldn't be many survivors after it impacted.

Who'd do something like that to their own people? There were civilians and military personnel down there, and someone decided that it was more important to deny the enemy use of the shipyards than it was to preserve the lives of the planet's populace. It was despicable. It was everything she hated about how people were manipulated into joining a cause, only to be used as pawns in a game they didn't want to be a part of. She was a mercenary, yes, but that meant she could say no to a job she didn't like. She was beholden to no one but herself.

Her arm slipped briefly, throwing a pair of shots off course. She re-focused and went back to defending the Exodus. "Good idea letting the crew stay. It's less of a waste than just spacing them." Now, they were on their own. Technically, the crew was deserting by joining enemy forces, but considering that they'd almost been destroyed by their own people, Kaira couldn't imagine they cared much at the moment. They just needed someone to get them out of the hotzone.

"I can't believe they'd destroy Kuat like that. Going after your own civilians. It's cruel, and it's stupid."

"Fethin' hell." Daro swore as he stared at the telemetry of the ship's sensory array. It was picking up on the explosions rocking through the parts of the orbital ring, insanity was what it was, demolition charges set off in system junctions. It couldn't have been anything else- the explosions ripping through beneath the shields far too nice and clean to be anything other than internal sabotage.

"Glad we got out of dere in time tho, luv." He murmured over to Saorise as he shifted the controls a bit. "Whole galaxy going cray."

He shook his head.

What a time to be alive- the Sith causing less damage to the people they were targeting compared to the actual people they were targeting. Once inertia and gravity had done its job, those pieces of 'yard would cause havoc on the surface.

Dust clouds as far as a man could see an' then some.

"Guess the Sith will 'ave an easy time mopping up now... 'Shaddaa?" Daro sniffed as he put the fate of Kuat out of his mind. That wasn't his boat to worry about, instead he was looking forward to a night of celebration. They had managed to snatch up a nice little prize after all- pretty pretty freighter class, it was moving like water in his hands and Daro luved it.

Almost wanted to keep it.

But... he had his own ship, he supposed.

“You can say that again.” she said, mouth agape as she stared out from the cockpit, knowing what was coming. Their sensors were going crazy.

Barely. They had barely escaped there alive. Indeed, shooting those two guards patrolling had meant little, they would have died anyway. Or perhaps they were part of the last group to hit the escape pods? She didn’t really know. Not really her concern. They got what they came for. Barely.

Saoirse punched Daro’s arm. Considering they had actually succeeded, and knowing his murderbot was lurking around somewhere, she decided against slapping the back of his head. “And you wanted to take a nap?!” Frustrated at first, her tone changed slightly on its second run

“You wanted to take a nap” now it made her laugh. But it had all worked out in the end.

“No” Saoirse said, a grin planting itself firmly upon her face. No, not Nar Shaddaa. She had something else in mind. “Balosar. And we’ll have a proper celebration when we get there. Drinks on me” Oh yes. She had friends on Balosar, they would see to that. It was the least she could do. She was keeping the ship after all.

Besides, home seemed like the right place to go in a stolen ship. The local authorities cared little for crime, and she had contacts to protect her. Speaking of the ship though… “This thing is smooth though. Proper catch, she is” And well worth the trouble. They lived to run another day, after all.

Zahori looked with immense shock as the ring of space stations and shipyards suddenly ripped itself apart. Chunks of the metal carcass being jettisoned by explosions from the ring's core. Zahori could not believe that was of her own doing. She didn't. Her ships had only just begun to fire upon the ring. She expected much more from such a large collection of space stations. She could tell there was something going on behind the scenes, but questioned nothing of it.

"It seems we are done here, little one. The ring is destroyed and Kuat is ultimately crippled. I only lost one ship this time. It's starting to become too easy."

The rest of Scorchblade fleet halted their fire on the now destroyed ring and turned their guns towards the remaining forces of the Kuat Defense Fleet, focusing their fire on the final two Imperial-IIs with all they have. "We'll clean up the rest of the trash here then return home."

With Scorchblade Fleet mostly unscathed, their attacks were unfaltered and undisturbed.
