The Pleasent Ball

Oka Osaa

Well-Known Member
Oka sat in his starfighter flying to Naboo for a private party. It included sith, Jedi, rogues, dark Jedi but all violence was forbidden. You had to dress well in order to get in even with an invitation. His white robes would fit in well. He smiled to the thought of meeting people. Dancing with strangers, but most of all the first time in his life, a safe party. No fights would happen because the security immediately detains the hostile. It was going to be fun. Oka entered the atmosphere and soon got to the coordinates. He jumped out of his ship and left all his weapons in it. Entering the large building, he noticed it was a royal palace. "Never seen one as beautiful as this before..." he said walking in slowly.

Fancy dress parties. A blessing in disguise. While they were stuffy affairs, most of the time, they were normally in beautiful venues, much like this Naboo palace. But my favorite thing was dressing up. I could pull out all the stops, tuxedoes and capes galore. Awesome. All the color and clashing I wanted. Also awesome. A flower in my lapel that looked like a lily made out of lava. Hell yeah!

I was dressed in my best gold and black tux, which both matched my black cape very well, and clashed horribly with my pink skin. The 'fire flower', as I called it, seemed to flow across the part of my lapel it was covering. And, of course, I had very gratuitous knee-length boots that fitted over my slacks, and flared out into gold-plated starbursts.

Yeah, I dress like that. I looked around a bit, and saw [member="Oka Osaa"], a fellow Silver Jedi, and probably the one I had the most respect for.

"Yo, Oka. Nice place, eh?"

Oka heard a familiar voice. He turned on his way entering and saw Zatten from the silver Jedi. He quickly walked over to him, "Yea, seems so to me. Don't know why I was invited. Still haven't met the host, guess he/she will show up soon enough." he said with a straight face. Showing emotions this early would be a mistake, well according to his past experiences.

"The host, eh? I wasn't invited, either. But you know how I get into places I'm not supposed to."

I grinned, and grabbed a drink off the nearest tray.

"Of course, my idea of fancy dress has nearly gotten me lynched a few times. Hope that doesn't happen today."

"Just relax, this isn't a battle." he joked as he scanned the area. Not many people were there. Guess they were early.

A sudden chill in the air crept into the ballroom as the main doors erupted open. A woman stood there between the swung open doors. She wore a simple yet elegant outfit for this gathering, not wanting to attract to much attention to herself. The vices were absent to her. At least for now. This was fortunate.

Elani's eyes scanned the venue until she found herself a place to sit. She strutted to the table and took herself a seat, crossing one leg over another as her arm rested on the table. A single, pitch black painted fingernail tapped the table as she sat and watched the patrons scurry about. Her face was blank. No emotions shown whatsoever. She did not care for these type of events, that much was clear. She was only looking. Searching for possible friend .. or foe.

"This is the first and last time you'll ever see me in a dress, so you'd better look while you can." The comment was directed more towards [member="Zatten Black"] as Kadrak stepped forward, studying the area around them before glancing to the stranger, watching him for a long moment before looking back to the Zeltron hybrid. "An interesting choice of attire, but I can't say you managed to surprise me with any of it."
For this occasion she'd decided on a sleek black floor-length dress that shimmered slightly with the small, inlaid sequins at her slightest movement. It wasn't her favorite choice of attire by any means, and she'd stopped there, wearing simple flats under the dress that would allow her to move quickly enough should the need arise. And, having spent enough time with Zatten, she knew things weren't bound to stay quiet for long.
With a slight smile she stepped up next to Zatt, studying [member="Oka Osaa"] once more. "I don't think you introduced me to your friend, here." She plucked a drink off of a passing tray herself as she waited for a reply from either of them.

When the main doors flung open, Oka gave his full attension and wondered if the lady in the doorway was the host. After seeing her take a seat at the table and scan the area as he did, he knew she had time to pass. Oka walked over to the table she sat at completely forgetting Zatten and another person he didnt know but Zatten did, was behind him. That probably made Zatten somewhat mad at Oka but duties call or whatever he was doing. He took a seat on the other side of the table keeping distance. This was a mixed party, he had to remember that. He decided to speak, "So.. I see you are seeking something. Care telling me what that is?" Oka asked keeping good posture since it was a ball.

[member="Elani Zambrano"] [member="Zatten Black"] [member="Kadrak Jalaan"]

"That, my dear, is the one and only [member="Oka Osaa"]. The single most sober bastard I have ever met. And you look beautiful in a dress. Though I seriously doubt that you put on any heels. You know me too well."

I grinned at Oka, and gestured towards Kadrak.

"Oka, this is [member="Kadrak Jalaan"]. A friend of mine, and mechanic extraordinaire."

I turned around when the cold feeling came and left me. A Dark presence, eh? I looked over at the woman who seemed to be the center of it.

"Why don't you go flirt with the pretty Sith Lady, Oka? Take your mind off the fact that you barely drink, and I'm here drinking almost constantly."

Either Oka was going crazy or Zatten was using telepathy to send him messages as he walked. Or of course, he was going crazy from all the suspense. He laughed in his mind at the thought of that. Waiting for the lady's response, he sent another message back, "We'll talk later Zatten. Meet at the food bar in a few hours or when the slow music is over, god do I hate classical." he said kinda in a jokingly way.

(Be back in 15 hours :p)

A fancy dress party, eh? Of course, I knew Oka and Kadrak, but there was a Zeltron and a Sith Lady who I was unfamiliar with.

The Zeltron was dressed almost as badly as I was. My cape flowed red around my feet, and my jacket was a shorter version of my combat one, all in red, gold, and silver. The Nova Cross was featured very prominently on my left shoulder, and my boots and gloves were up to my knees and elbows, respectively, and were totally caked in silver thread and gold leaf. Oh, yeah.

I walked up to Kadrak, seeing Oka walk towards the Sith Lady. Hopefully he might find a girlfriend today, even if she was a Sith.

"So, Kadrak, who's this magnificently dressed pink guy you have, here?"

Elani kept her cold, silver eyes on the crowd of people for a few moments more before acknowledging the man who decided to invite himself to her table. She sighed as he began to already annoy her. She only gave him a very brief glance before turning her eyes away from him.

"That is none of your concern." she said coldly. "Are you security or something?" Elani reached into her small, black purse and pulled out a cigarette, placing the butt of it in between her red painted lips. She then pulled her lighter out, sparking it up and lightning her cigarette. She pulled the cigarette out and exhaled a large puff of smoke before turning her gaze to the man once more.

'Oh, these two are going to get along splendidly.' That was the first thought in her head the minute she heard [member="Cross Ikon"] approach and turned to study his outfit. One was dressed just as flamboyantly as the other. A small smile turned up the corners of her mouth at that. "This would be [member="Zatten Black"], the only guy I've met who gets more sober the more he drinks. But he's great company. And I have this feeling the two of you will hit it off right away."
Kadrak shrugged and looked to Zatten. "No heels, nope. Too difficult to run in, and I figured by the end of the night we'll be in some kind of trouble with one person or another that will warrant a quick getaway. And besides, the dress is bad enough as it is. Call me paranoid, but I like to have at least one concealed weapon on me at all times." Her voice dropped slightly. "I mean, there's a chance I might anyway. That vibroblade I picked up from our friends on Nar Shaddaa proved useful in this aspect, at least." She sipped at her drink and looked between the two of them as she awaited a reply.

Oka laughed for a short second. "Nope, the security is too good even for me. And I suppose you're correct, shall I leave you to be alone?" he asked as he scanned her. Beautiful but dark. But who is he to judge? This galaxy is so broken that anyone could judge wrong. Oka looked back at his friends which he saw Zatten, Kadrak, and Cross that newly entered the area. He soluted to his admiral before turning back his attension to the lady.

Joran Del-Finn

Smuggler by day. Snuggler by night.
Captain Joran Del-Finn had been spending most of the night unnoticed. Dressed in all black no one could say he didn’t look like he belonged amongst the high society citizens that graced this particular affair, his outfit was clearly tailored to him and was made from some of the finest material to be found on Naboo. Joran been spending most of the evening leaning against the bar, sampling some of the best wine not only on this planet but any other, Joran had a certain love affair with Nubian wine and the vintage served here was top quality. He would have to compliment the host, though he wasn’t sure who that was exactly and couldn’t recall what it had said on his invitation.

Yes, Captain Del-Finn had been invited to this formal affair. Naboo after all was like a third home to him. He even had a house on the planet, well more of an estate, he hadn’t actually been inside for quite sometime but he still paid the own it so that is probably how he got invited to this party which was being held in a place much nicer than his own.

Formal events like this weren’t usually the place to look to find Joran even with wine this good but Joran was strapped for work and parties like this were a great place to find wealthy folks who could use any of the many services Joran provided legal or otherwise.

As Joran scanned the room for his next potential employer, the main doors swung open to reveal a young woman who brought with her an unnatural chill. She stalked across the floor with deadly grace before taking a seat at one of the many tables set up through out the ballroom. Almost immediately her irresistible presence drew the attention of one of the male guests. He was young and probably biting off more than he could chew. There was something about the woman that was clear, something more than met the eye.

Intrigued by the new addition to the room, Joran sent over a glass of red wine. A great ice breaker to be sure. He reached into the inside pocket of his suit and pulled forth a cigar. Lighting it and breathing deep Joran savored the flavor. If there was one thing he enjoyed more than Nubian wine it was Nubian cigars.

"I like it when women are well-armed. And I still think you look beautiful, perhaps more so since I know you're armed under the dress. Plus, I think it might be fun to dance while we're here. You know, the beautiful Zabrak lady in her black dress, and the slightly crazed pink Knight in his slightly horrid gilded tuxedo."

I smiled crookedly, and turned to Cross.

"Hope you don't mind, Admiral. Just gotta have our fun before the stuffy nobles arrive. Now where'd Oka go off to?"

[member="Joran Del-Finn"] [member="Oka Osaa"] [member="Kadrak Jalaan"] [member="Elani Zambrano"]

A smile quirked the corners of her mouth. "You know, I'm beginning to think these compliments of yours are more of your subtle hints that you've dropped before. Not that I'm complaining, because you don't look too bad yourself. Even in that hideously gorgeous tux of yours." She looked him up and down with a wink, taking another pull of her drink before setting it down on a nearby table, stepping closer to him with a teasing grin. "If you would be so kind, I would be honored to have this dance, good sir."
With a quiet laugh she scanned the room for a moment, nodding to a table across the room where a woman sat with [member="Oka Osaa"]. "It seems like he's found himself a friend, though I can't say that she seems to be enjoying his company. A pity for him, but I can't say I'm surprised too much. I might not be Force sensitive, but even I can spot a Sith when it's this obvious."
Kadrak looked to Cross with another smile. "That's not a bad outfit you have picked out for yourself, either. I definitely didn't expect anything less. From either of you, for that matter."

[member="Zatten Black"], [member="Joran Del-Finn"], [member="Elani Zambrano"], [member="Cross Ikon"]

I flipped my head to the side, and the fringe on my jacket whooshed along with my hair.

"Well, Captain, you know I'm a showman. And this happens to be my brand of showmanship. Gaudy, yes. Gratuitous? I sure hope so. But nobody else dresses like I do."

I walked over to where I saw Oka attemping (badly) to start a conversation with a remarkably pretty, Sithy-looking woman. Probably an Epicanthix, from the looks of it.

"Oka, stop bothering the poor lady. Can't you see she's trying to look enigmatic on her own?"

I grinned at the Epicanthix lady, and bowed my head in a greeting.

"Admiral Cross Ikon, m'lady. My over-sober friend here is Oka Osaa. Vice Admiral, when he chooses to acknowledge the title."

[member="Kadrak Jalaan"] [member="Elani Zambrano"] [member="Oka Osaa"]

I winked and held out my left hand to Kadrak.

"You didn't need to ask. Nothing so agonizingly awkward as Oka's attempts to pick up women could stop me from dancing with you."

I stuck out my tounge, and winced slightly as I cut it on the point of one of my canines.

"Glad the redhead went over to help him. Oka'd be stuck there, muttering at the table, otherwise."

I pulled Kadrak towards me, and turned to the dance floor.

"Let's have some fun."

While waiting on a response from the lady, Oka decided to analyze the area again. All his friends were having fun it looked like. The host still hasn't revealed them self and many people were entering in glorious attires. He still couldn't believe this place. A very lucky man he was to be here. Suddenly, Cross appeared and basically shamed him. He stood up and walked to the restroom without saying anything.
