I understand that you cannot be everywhere…but someone does. If not you, then there has to be someone dedicated who can push out OP posts every day, or else the faction stagnates.Ayden Cater said:[member="Tegaea Alcori"]
It should not be left to me to drive threads onward all the time. Major threads that affect the faction, sure. Absolutely. But I don't need to be in faction thread. I can't. I'm one person.
People need to be able to drive threads on their own without my hand. And that was part of what I was attempting to do with the Athos dominion; provide a place for people to make their stories.
That's why in this Naboo thread where we're discussing the aftermath of the Invasion, Ayden's a secondary character in it. He's not there to push the story along the whole way. He's given his report and assessment, and now he'll let the Queen and the others do their thing. He'll probably wander off at some point to do other things to help rebuild. He's not a central figure for the narrative.
And I'm okay with that.
I am very fortunate to have [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] on my team, as she can push the agenda even in threads I’m not in.
Not to blow my own and [member="Cira"] ’s horn, but the entire reason the original OP was founded with an LP and 2 Exarchs was to give a trinity of people with authority to push threads and ideas without relying on a single person.
OP is not, with the exception of Ayden and Noah, a faction of primary alts. The main bulk of members are alts belonging to 2 writers, with the rest being mainly secondary alts of other primaries. There’s nothing wrong with this, but we need to be honest if we’re looking at 100 members and expecting them to all be active writers.
What has to be done is to persuade more people to make OP their main home. At the moment I don’t see any initiative here, no overarching plot or structure which is guiding events. Faction renewal can come in multiple ways. The Sith collapsed and refounded themselves (though that’s not a good suggestion for here), but the Republic refounded itself recently on a new political structure and with a new military bent.
Whatever course is taken, it’s clear to me that there are several things which need to happen:
- More faction threads and providing training and support for new people.
- If Ayden alone cannot handle all the responsibilities of leading (and very few can handle a major faction by themselves) then leadership should be broadened out to give more people who can push things along.
- A unity of purpose or a single goal. The Bando Gora story was great for focusing attention, but that’s over. Something else is needed to fill that gap.
- Get members involved. Give them meaningful authority if they warrant it do they are not relying on the faction admins, and are rewarded for initiative.

I would love to, but for the last 6 months I’ve had not much encouragement to ask for such a thing. We’ve built our own minor faction and fleet because of a lack of central support, so whilst we value our autonomy we’re prepared to help if given the right incentive.
But we will not deal with Sith, and no one here should.
