Together again.(Keturah)

Dusk was upon Kashyyyk and Slavor Arnex stood on a balcony outside his room at the small resort he was staying at and watched as the waves crashed below him. A gust of wind had his cloak snapping behind him and painted the young Zabrak’s yellow skin with goose bumps, at least he thought it was the wind but there was every chance that his goose bumps were a result of nerves or even the energy that this planet had about it.

Salvor had chosen to come to the densely forested world after hearing of the massive pull of force energy that was here. The forest was rumored to be a dark place, living and evil; a place so terrifying that even the fierce Wookies who called the planet home were unwilling to travel to the forest floor, but that is exactly where Salvor intended to go. He would find what ever secrets this place held and use them to strengthen himself but that would have to wait until tomorrow, for now he was here on the coast forced to enjoy himself at a small tourist resort.

Salvor had been avoiding the other tourists as much as he could but this resort was fairly small and as such when it was time to eat all the beings staying in the resort were called together in a small dining hall. Salvor made his way down there grabbed a plate of what ever it was they were serving, it looked like some kind of green vegetable and a meat Salvor couldn’t readily identify but it was food.

Salvor took a seat at a table by himself and began to eat.

Kashyyyk was an amazing place. Wild and dark, but also tranquil. Keturah had never actually been to the planet before. She'd gotten a room in the tourist resort located on the ocean shore a few nights before. The Shadow Empire had been gracious enough to pay for her little "vacation". In reality, she was studying the planet in general. Getting a feel for it in case the Empire ever needed to use it. She made her way into the dining area and picked up a tray. Looking around, she noticed that most of the tables were full. Her amber-gold eyes came to rest on a solitary cloaked figure sitting by himself at a small table off to the side. Slowly, she made her way up to him. "Um.... Excuse me? May I sit here?" She asked timidly. The hood prevented her from seeing his face.

Salvor just nodded indicating to the hooded figure that they may sit. He wasn’t overjoyed about having company but there were worse things in the world and something about this person felt familiar, almost comfortable.

He tried his food. It was surprisingly good, the veggies were crisp and fresh, almost sweet tasting and the meat with not too visibly appealing was rich, salty and very tender. All in all a pretty good way to start the trip.

Keturah sat down across from the man and began nibbling on her piece of meat. She had never had a very large appetite, and usually skipped dinner. But she always liked to try new things. The meat was pretty good, and the veggies were too. She ate in silence so that she didn't interrupt the man in front of her. As she looked down at the table, she noticed that the man's hand looked... Familiar. Yellow-gold skin with black tattoos. She absentmindedly reached over and placed her fingers on top of his hand, studying the markings a little more closely. Who did she know with those hands?

He jerked his hand away as the stranger touched him and as he did a small charge of electricity coursed through his body, an odd but familiar sensation, he was certain now that he knew this person from some where but he could not place it.

“Do, I know you?”

Keturah racked her brain for a name. C'mon, c'mon..... He saved your life! The least you could do is remember his name. Finally, it came to her. She tilted her head down toward the table until her eyes could see below his hood. "Salvor?" She said quietly.

Salvor peered out from beneath his hood and staring back at him were a pair of piercing golden-amber eyes burning like the suns above Tattooine. He knew those eyes, there was a beauty and magic about them. Seeing them again caused Salvor’s heart to pound in his chest. What were the chances that she would be here on this out of the way planet, now with him?

“Keturah.” he said unaware of the smile on his face.

Keturah smiled back at him, her eyes growing ever lighter. "I've never seen you smile before," She said. It made him look very handsome. Which was strange for her, as she'd never given thought to something like that before. She slid her tray to the side and propped her chin on her hands. "So, do you like Kashyyyk?"

“Maybe.” He hadn’t been on the planet long enough to give any real thought on whether or not he liked the place and he didn’t think he would be there long enough to form an opinion but he did think that with her here he wouldn’t mind his stay.

A soft little giggle came from Keturah. "Maybe? Well, I could say the same. I've been here a few days already, but it's been constantly raining. I haven't even gotten a chance to go to the seashore yet." She'd wanted to see if there were any shells or odd little bits that she could collect and place in her room back on the Hazard Beauty, but it was nearly always too muddy.

Salvor liked the rain. Nal Hutta and Nar Shaddaa were both so polluted that it was impossible to enjoy a rain shower, here on Kashyyyk however the rain seemed to make things…better? He wasn’t sure that was the right word all he knew was that he liked the rain, the sound of it on the sea, the flashes of lightning but most of all he liked the smell. The forest was too far away to get to but with the rain and the wind the wet piney smell carried over to where they were staying and it was unlike anything Salvor had experienced until that point.

“that’s too bad.”

Keturah grinned. She looked toward the glass doors that led out to the outdoor balcony. It as still cloudy outside, but the rain had stopped. "Hey, look! The rain's let up." She pointed at the doors. "We should go outside and get some fresh air before it comes back."

“After you.” He motioned toward the door, it would be nice to spend sometime with Keturah out in the fresh air. It would be nice to spend time with her at all but it would be especially nice to be outside.

Keturah got up and practically skipped out to the dining balcony. She inhaled the fresh air deeply. All the smells of deep, untamed wilderness came to her. It was amazing to be here! She glanced back at Salvor, waiting for him.

Salvor followed close behind Keturah, watching he as she flowed from the room out into the dimming light of Kashyyyk at dusk. There was a chill in the air that evening. It wasn’t at all uncomfortable but his skin prickled all the same. The waves continued to crash against the rocks below. a soothing sound to go with a relaxing evening. The fresh air smelled wet and wild, much different than any of the planets he had called home. It was refreshing.

“why are you here?” the question was pointed and informal. Salvor had yet to master social interaction.

"Well, I was sent to study the wildlife by.... By my dad." Keturah replied. She wasn't entirely sure that telling people about the Shadow Empire was a good idea. Besides, Romeo had wanted them to visit Kashyyyk sometime.

Keturah looked at Salvor questioningly for a moment. "A rifle? Oh, oh no, nothing like that! I'm just looking at the plants and the general terrain. If I see any animals, I'm going to look up what species they are and record where I saw them. Besides, even if I had a gun, I'm not a very good shot..." She shifted her gaze to her feet, rubbing her left arm. It was embarrassing to admit that she didn't really know how to defend herself.

“Keturah.” he spoke to her concern but not unkindly. “If your going into the wilds here you will need to protect yourself. The beasts that reside here are little more than monsters. Even the natives fear what live on the forest floor.” he tried to explain the situation in a way that wouldn’t crush her spirit, her positive outlook and innocent demeanor were things he never had and the things her liked most about her but what he said was true, Kashyyyk was a dangerous place and he would hate to see her hurt.

She nodded. "I-I know. Everything is big and carnivorous. That's why I'll need to be quick. I also have this..." She reached into one of the pockets of her cargo pants and produced a tiny device that was barely larger than her palm. "This is a sonic emitter I made before I came. It acts like a regular-sized one, but it's smaller and more portable. The shock-waves it creates when you turn it on don't hurt you, and normally you can't hear it. But to animals, the sound is so unbearable that they stay as far away from it as possible." It wasn't armor, but it was certainly more useful than it looked. If an animal did scrounge up the gall to attack Keturah with the emitter activated, all she'd have to do was press a button on the side of it and fling it at the creature. It would act as a grenade, and buy her enough time to escape.
