Together again.(Keturah)

he was not sure what to say. so he said nothing. he didn't even know what to think. he took notice of the sonic emitter she showed him earlier.

"How does it work." he asked curious at her skill with technology.

Keturah turned her attention to the emitter. "Well, it's a device mainly used for herding animals or keeping them away from weapons and supplies caches that are in wild areas. They emit a high-frequency sound that most animals find too unbearable to stand, so they stay away from its source. Normally, it's bigger than this one and placed on a stand. I modified it so that I could move around freely without having to worry about said animals trying to eat me and stuff." She picked up her little creation and handed it to Salvor for him to look at.

Salvor took the device in his hands and studied it for a moment amazed. her skill was very impressive, far beyond his when it cam to electronics. maybe she could show him a thing or two.

She watched Salvor as he looked at it. "I was tempted to make something a bit more unique, but I think simplicity's my best option for now. Something too complicated would just make me more vulnerable."

Keturah smiled at him, sitting the sonic emitter down beside her. "Thanks. It's a passion of mine." She liked working with technology and the like. She had the magic touch, people told her sometimes. "Do you have anything you like to do?"

"Fight." he had always loved the fighting. for a while he thought it was the killing he enjoyed, but no it was the fight. it was the training, the preparation, the hunt and the battle. the kill was the reward. there was nothing quite like a good fight. it taught you everything about yourself. it showed who could go to that uncomfortable place and rise to the occasion. he so far in his life for the most part had always rose.

"Fighting? Like duels and stuff? That's interesting. What's it like, exactly?" Keturah had never really thought about fighting. She knew it happened everywhere and everyday. She'd never actually heard about what it was like to be in one, though.

“There is nothing else like it. It is a test of all things, strength, speed, agility, endurance, brains. Even luck at times. A fight is where one finds out who is better, who has more heart, who has the greater will. A fight will take you to places you never thought you could go, to places you would never want to be and it will test your resolve to get back from that place. Every fight is a chance to find out who you are and who you need to be.”

"Everyone can fight. It's just a matter of finding what's worth fighting for." there he went again parroting the words of the man that trained him.

Keturah stared up at the ceiling. "No, seriously. I can't fight. Believe me, I've tried to before. I guess I'm not quite built for it or something. I was always pretty small." She'd tried to punch a guy for insulting her once. She ended up with all four of her knuckles cracked and a big black bruise.

"So it isn't your ability that worries you. only your skill. being willing to fight can take you a long way." did he not know any words of his own? "I could teach you. if you wanted."

"Perhaps, you could teach me to build as you do." being competent with the inner workings of electronics could be very useful.

She nodded. "Okay then. You teach me self-defense, and I'll teach you how to build things. Thank you!" Keturah sat back up and faced him completely, smiling excitedly. Her eyes were as bright as stars.

"You're right." Keturah stood up and removed her shoes, placing them neatly next to the door. She then stretched up onto her tippy-toes and reached for the oil lamp giving the hut light. With one quick breath the hut fell dark. She felt her way back to her pallet. "Goodnight, Salvor." She said softly. Her eyes didn't close, however. In the pitch blackness, a very faint so of glow seemed to come from them. Keturah ha always had trouble sleeping in really dark places. It was a fear she had had since she was very small.

“Good night Keturah Sin.” Salvor did not go to sleep right away. Instead he sat on the cot, legs crossed and eyes closed while he meditated. He could sense Keturah’s unease in the dark. How much of it he contributed to he could only guess. He reached out with his mind and attempted to calm her thoughts. He hadn’t tried something like this before and wasn’t sure if it would work, but it was good practice.

If it worked she wouldn’t know he had done anything directly. It was like a mind trick only used in a more positive way.

Slowly, Keturah could feel her mind becoming... fuzzy... Her eyelids began to droop severely. Her child-like thoughts tried to fight it, afraid of what monsters might be waiting in the dark, but this fear was short-lived. A wave of calmness washed over her being. She let out a small, weary yawn/sigh, and closed her eyes. A few minutes later, she fell into a peaceful sleep...
