Two contracts, one target

"I am fine," Shae replied, though there was a hint of regret in her voice, both for leaving those men in agony but also for passing up on a meal opportunity. She looked back and raised her bow, drawing an arrow with an explosive head. She would not leave those guards to suffer... She fired into the building and grabbed Mit by the arm, taking off running away from the building. They had a few seconds to find some cover, ducking into a corner at the bottom of a set of stairs. The first explosion was small, her arrow going off, but it was immediately followed by a much bigger explosion that rocked the district. Shae grinned as she peeked out to spy on her handiwork. "Ahh fire, the solution to all of life's problems..."

"You're crazy... Not that I'm complaining. Just don't turn it on me okay?" Mit said with an almost worried voice. He stood and reached a hand to Shae. If he could get up there was no doubt that she could, but he had meant it as a gesture of friendliness. People had started streaming out of their homes to get a glimpse of the building, it was nothing but a raging inferno now. Some People gaped, others looked afraid, some even cried. Most just stood and watched solemnly though. Either not knowing, or hating most of the people inside. "So, lead the way..."

"I have no reason to harm you," Shae said, somewhat insulted that he would even consider that she would. Hadn't she already protected him from the blast inside? If she wanted to hurt him, she could have several times over in the building. She led him out of the district then waved down a taxi to take them far away from the burning building. As she slumped into the vehicle, she suddenly looked quite tired. When was the last time she'd fed? She couldn't remember anymore. She had been on the move so much lately, she hadn't been keeping track of it. "So, know of any places to eat around here?" She asked, trying to be pleasant and conversational.

"I know that, and I hope I never give you a reason to. Of course, you did set the ground on fire in front of me." Mit said with an apologetic shrug. He slid into the vehicle and looked at her. "No, this is the first time I've been here." After a moment of silence he turned towards the driver. "Hey be a pal, and take us to whatever diner you think is amazing. It can be fancy as hell, or in the slums. I don't care." He tossed the man a bundle of credit that would probably pay for the trip. He slumped back into his seat and gazed at Shae, she looked exhausted. "Hey, you sure you're okay?"

[member="Shae Kalin"]

"Hey, I missed you on purpose!" Shae said with a laugh. And she had, it had never been her intent to harm him with that display. "I've never been here either, so I'm not all that familiar with the dining scene." And she had been willing to pay for the taxi, but she didn't mind letting him pick up the tab. She relaxed back in her seat, examining her bow for any damage as the taxi sped along.

And she was surprised about the question. She hadn't thought that she let her weariness show or that it was that bad. "I'm... just tired," she fibbed, her ears drooping slightly. She leaned her head back on the seat headrest with a sigh. Then she smiled and looked over at her new companion. "By the way, my name is Shae Kalin."

"Sure you did. Lets just hope this guy has good tastes." Mit said with a slight grin. It sure felt like she had meant to burn his face off. As the taxi sped around corner after corner he rested his head on the headreast, now in what was almost exactly the same position as her while he inspected his pistol. He looked over to her and laughed.

"I didn't even realize, we never actually met. We both just dealt with each other. I'm Mit, Mit Tuxaire. Nice to talk without having weapons aimed at us." With a sigh he turned to look out the window of the cab. The buildings weren't much more than a blur, he wondered how the driver could be so confident at this speed. "Pretty name for a pretty lady eh?"

"Well, at least my competition is a gentleman," she said softly with a smile. The taxi finally came to a stop in front of a charming little restaurant in a nice neighborhood. The cabbie handed Mit some change while Shae climbed out of the taxi. Instead of walking towards the restaurant, she shouldered her bow and went in a different direction hoping he would follow. "Sorry I almost took your target away from you, and after you went through all that effort to climb through the ventilation system, but I had wanted to at least try to get the information I needed without torching the place," Shae admitted as they walked along. "Although I did have a little too much fun with the fire," she added with a slight blush. She found a public communication station and made a connection with a contact and plugged in the dataspike to transfer the data. She wasn't all that worried about doing this in a public place, she wouldn't be here for that much longer, and more importantly she needed to get this info off-world as soon as possible.

"I try. I would have shot you if all that effort was wasted, do you even know how disgusting those vents were?" He said with a grimace. The cabbie had given him roughly what he had expected. With an annoyed sigh he climbed out of the taxi and ran after her. The station was only a few minutes away, but it was still more time away from food. "How many more hoops are you going to make me jump through? I want to buy you food dammit." He had attempted to sound angry, it didn't work. When she blushed he had to work to keep his heart rate down, her damn hearing had to make everything weird. How else could she have heard him in the vent? He stood a few feet from Shae, waiting for her to finish sending the data. Still trying to sound like he hadn't noticed anything.

"Forgive me if the people dying as a result of this drug are inconveniencing you," Shae said dryly. Then she sighed. "Sorry, this has been a long missions tracking this research down and I'm just ready to be done with it," she added tiredly. She finished transmitting the data and removed the dataspike. "Okay, I'm ready now. Let's dine and charm away!"

Although as they walked, she started looking more than just a little tired as she had stated earlier, she looked downright exhausted! Her ears and tail hung limply and her gait started to slow, and she kept glancing at Mit with a look of desperation in her eyes. She didn't even realize it, but a small part of her was seriously considering taking a bite out of her new companion. It wasn't a conscious thought, she would never hurt innocent people to sate herself, but she was hungry and he smelled so good...

About halfway through the walk, Mit realized Shae looked ready to collapse. She also looked ready to kill... It was probably best to get her fed and rested as soon as possible. "I can't let you eat me. Not even one bite. Sorry. You have to wait." He said harshly, though the immediate regret was visible in his eyes. "Can you make it there on your own feet? Or am I going to have to bloody carry you?" He asked a moment later, obviously joking. He would do it though, if he had to. This place was still a ways away. Probably ten minutes if she slowed any more...

"I am sorry if I look ready to eat you, but... I am hungry." Shae was embarrassed to admit the cause of her issue, but it would help him understand. "My kind have a condition called Force Blood, we have to consume large quantities of Midi-chlorians to survive. I used to have a number of companions who were willing to donate blood regularly so I did not have to actually eat sentients, but they died as a result of the ZX-309 outbreak and I have been working so hard to find the antidote to end their colony's suffering that I have not been tending to my own needs," she explained softly as they finally came up to the restaurant. She entered the building and found a booth somewhat removed from the rest of dining patrons. she removed her bow and quiver and slid it against the wall, then slipped into the booth with an apologetic glance to Mit.

"Well, how can I help? I can't just let you go eat some random guy. I mean, it's not like I have any authority over you, but I'm pretty sure I could beat an archer if it came down to it." Mit slumped into the booth across from Shae. Donate blood? Vampire. He smiled and suppressed a giggle. She was a fox vampire! A starving one... Never mind. He was sure he could stop her before she started mauling his face. She wouldn't do that though, hopefully. He didnt want to have to hurt her, or get himself hurt.

A waiter stepped up to the end of their booth and pulled out a small notepad. "And what can I get you two lovelies?" The man asked with a crooked grin, before pulling a pen from his pocket and waiting for a response. "Uh, you can just bring me whatever the special is. Shae?"

[member="Shae Kalin"]

"Steak, rare. Very rare, and I don't care if it comes with anything else, just no mushrooms," Shae ordered, staring at the waiter's throbbing jugular for a moment. The man blinked at her; the order for very rare steak was apparently a bit unusual, but not so much that he wasn't willing to jot it down anyway. And he didn't seem to noticing that she was eyeing him like he was dinner, either. Shae whimpered slightly as he whisked away to fill their orders.

Shae slumped in her seat as they waited for their food. "There's not much you can do to help, unless you're willing to open a vein..." she suggested teasingly with a toothy grin. She even tipped an empty water glass on the table towards him to gauge his reaction. If he did it, it would certainly take the edge off until she could find some other way to sate her hunger. She should have eaten the doctor...

"Don't even think about eating him. A'right? He's innocent. I told you, you could have eaten Magnus." Mit murmured. It would probably be awhile before the waiter came back with their food... Shae would probably kill someone before the guy even told the cooks what they wanted. With a huff Mit reached under the table, pulling a wicked knife from its holster strapped to his boot.

"Go ahead, just try not to kill me... I like not being dead." He said softly, sliding the knife towards her, all the while hoping she really did not want to kill him. The diner was a busy place, no one was even looking at them, much less watching. If she cut something important he would be sure to scream as loud as possible. Someone might notice, who cares. He'd be dead anyway.

"Put that knife away! What do you think I am, a barbarian?" Shae slid the knife back to him. Giving her a knife like that in a restaurant like this... Silly man, she came prepared! She reached into her back pocket for a small med-kit that was designed just for this. She had swabs to disinfect and numb the area, small disposable blades, and bacta patches, which she proceeded to use quite quickly and efficiently on Mit's wrist, making a small cut to open a vein and holding his wrist over the cup to let it bleed.

"I suppose when you offered to buy me a drink, this was not what you had in mind," she said teasingly as she watched the cup fill slowly, being mindful of his height and build so as not to take too much from him. Then she quickly applied pressure to the small cut on his wrist to slow the bleeding while she found a small auto-suture tool to close the vein. After she covered the cut with a bacta patch, he was good to go. She gathered the trash, closed up her med-kit, and stowed it in her back pocket. This definitely wasn't the first time she had done this.

"Most people don't like watching me drink, especially if it's their own blood. I can save it for later if it will bother you," Shae offered.

"Well, you don't look like one. Ow, I would have prefered the knife." Mit smiled and leaned back in the booth. Comforting his wrist with a jokingly hurt expression plastered on his face. He shrugged, why would it make a difference what someone drank? "You can drink whenever you want to. Just don't make it a big deal alright? I can only handle so much. For now, it's red wine, not blood. As far as buying you a drink, my money comes from blood sweat and tears, you saved two of those things. Well, maybe not the tears. I could still burst out crying like a man-baby at any moment." He mocked wiping his eyes with his sleeve. The waiter had gone past again, this time setting a glass of water on the table. He had stared at the sacrifice cup of doom, but hadn't said anything before moving on to take another order.

[member="Shae Kalin"]

He said he didn't care what she drank, but she could also see it was bothering him. But he had given her the okay, and need was winning out over her desire to not make him uncomfortable, so she gingerly took a sip from her glass. Oh, that was nice...

"So, are you a mercenary or something?" she asked in between sips, drinking slowly so it would last longer. It had not escaped her notice that he was staring at the cup, so when she wasn't sipping from it, she kept it hidden behind a wine menu that was propped up on the table.

"I know that this whole situation has suddenly become really awkward, but thank you. This is usually something I'm quite private about, so I'm not entirely comfortable doing this so openly, but I just wanted you to know that I am grateful."

"There's nothing awkward about it... Er, there is, but it's not enough to make me want to be as far away from you as possible or anything." He took a sip from his own water glass. "Yeah, I'll do basically anything you pay me to. I don't often get kill requests, but a lot of people hated Magnus. I was surprised no one asked me to do it for so long. I've been here longer than I'd have liked." There was still no sign of the food. It was probably his order slowing everything.

"You're welcome... I can't imagine most people would be comfortable doing anything like that openly."

[member="Shae Kalin"]

"I'm kind of the same, a jack of all trades," Shae said with a small smile. "I don't usually do kill requests, but I will if it's the right situation. Mostly, I just go around helping people where I can, especially colonies and outposts where a helping hand is rarely turned down. I also like the sense of community in places like that, everyone is working together for a common goal, rather than in larger places like this where everyone is out for themselves."

Despite the awkwardness of the situation, Shae found she rather liked Mit. He was charming, that's for sure, but she liked the way he wore his heart on his sleeves and his candid demeanor; these were rare qualities nowadays and it was refreshing to see that those qualities weren't gone in the universe.

"So, you mean to tell me that the fire fox runs around doing charity work? Who knows, maybe they can start paying you in blood. Was that to personal? Sorry." Mit slumped even lower in the booth. He might have to steal the blood cup if this took much longer. At least he wouldn't worry about his next meal if he was staring at his breakfast, right? "Does the blood sacrifice please you my goddess?" He said with a slight grin.

Mit practically dove at the man carrying a plate of food, but it was just Shae's heap of flesh. Nothing for him. "Uh, how long do you think it'll for my order?" He asked the man with a desperate glance towards Shae. "You cannot rush the cooks, they are doing their best." He replied in heavily accented speech. Mit laid his head on his hand, supported by his elbow which now rested on the table, and stared at Shae.
