Under Our Parent's Shadows

Lujo.

A planet in the Core that was almost as beautiful as Naboo and Commenor. Right now she needed some space from everyone. So many people were pulling her in different directions. So many people had their expectations of her and each were different than the rest. So Lori did what she always did when she didn't know what to do.

She tinkered on her ship.

The Jaster's Sparrow was a fine vessel. It was big, but not too big. She could fly it on her own...sorta. But she had an amazing crew as well. They had the week off though while Lori tried to sort stuff out for herself.

What better way to do so then on a peaceful planet? There was tension nearly everywhere. But here she could connect with her surroundings and get to know her ship even more.

Today one could find her on the roof. It was there that she had spotted a tracking device planted on it. Where did she pick that up? More than likely it was while in First Order space many months ago. Death Troopers were on the roof when they were boarded. Now she had to be rid of it. But first she needed some tools.

Lori climbed back down, jumping the last few feet, nearly landing on [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] as he happened by. "Oh!....Sorry. Didn't see you." She was a bit startled. But whether he was or not, she wasn't sure.

The drastic difference from the Sith planets such as Korriban still hit Kahlil whenever he came to these kinds of planets. It had been many months now since he first left the Sith, his body fit and his skills as a spacer honed enough that he could go off on his own. It was a day off for the Ex-Sith, giving him time to just wander around without needing to worry about a job or a threat.

Kahlil had a newfound respect for ships after learning how to pilot his own, leading him to the Sparrow. It was a certainly well built ship, and as he began trying to find the captain of it he felt a sudden heavy weight collapse atop him. Blinking in surprise the 6'8" tall man found himself suddenly on the ground with [member="Loreena Arenais"] atop him. He opened his mouth to speak, but found no words coming out.

Instead he was just stunned, peering at none other then the Padawan he had tried to kill when he was an Acolyte of the Sith. For a moment he was thankful he had the talisman around his neck that hid his signature in the Force. "N.. No. You're fine. You are fine right? Not hurt?" He offered a concerned smile. "It was quite the tumble."

Well this wasn't exactly the best position to be in for an introduction with her being on top of him. If her boyfriend/suiter [member="Zeke Tune"] saw, well he'd probably get jealous. Not that he would beat [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] up, but jealous it wasn't him that she fell on top of.

Lori quickly got to her feet, dusting herself off a bit as she stepped back so that he could get up. "I'm okay, thanks.
You just caught me by surprise. I guess that I should have looked, but I wasn't expecting anyone to be near by, especially that close. You're okay though, right?"
She didn't weigh that much, nor did she jump from too much of a height to give anyone broken bones.

"Yeah, I'm good." Kahlil pushed himself up shortly after [member="Loreena Arenais"] got off him, dusting himself off in a similar manner. He casually rolled a shoulder, just to make sure nothing happened. So far, he was fine. "Apologies, I should have announced myself. I saw the ship and couldn't help myself. She's a real beaut." The man turned his attention to the Sparrow, a smile faint on his lips. It really was a fine vessel.

"She got a name?"

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"] was TALL! Super duper tall! She felt even more like a kid when compared to hum. Though, she was slightly impressed with herself at being able to knock someone of that height down onto the ground!

Lori shoved her hands into her jacket pockets as he seemed to admire her ship. And of COURSE she was proud of her as well. How could anyone not be proud of her? She was built very well.

"Jaster's Sparrow.
I named her after my mentor. He died in battle during the Siege of Commenor. This way...he'd always be flying with me. Kinda sappy, I know."

"Nothing sappy about it. He was important to you, so you shouldn't think it's lame." Kahlil patted the side of the ship, lowering his head in respect to whomever Sparrow was. After a moment he lifted his head, again patting the ship. Out of the corner of his eye he peered to [member="Loreena Arenais"] , trying to assess how much she knew of him. For the moment, it didn't seem like she recognized him at all.

He really hadn't expected to meet up with the ex princess of Commenor.

"I'm Kahlil." Introductions. He already knew who she was, but how could he bring that up without being incredibly awkward. Hey, I tried to kill you and your father once! Certainly wasn't the way he should go about it.

Lori gave a small smile and nod as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] seemed to like how she honoured her mentor. Still, it was the best that she could do when it came to dealing with her guilt. The last time that her and Jaster spoke, it was an argument as he put her in her place in front of others. She hoped that when he died, he knew that she didn't really hate him at all.

He soon introduced himself. She looked up at him and held her hand out for him to shake. Of course she wasn't about to give out her full name. The old habit of people treating her differently when she did so was still there. "I'm Lori. Pleased to meet you. So what brought you out here? Are you looking for something?"

"Day off. I was planning to walk the plains, see the sights." Kahlil gave a casual shrug. He didn't really have much for plans. The young man casually slipped his hands into his back pockets, peering closely at [member="Loreena Arenais"] . Lori was the name of the Jedi he had fought, so there was no doubt in his mind. "Right, I do recognize you. Though you probably don't recognize me. I'm uh, well." He glanced away, embarrassed.

"I was the Sith who fought you and your father."

Lori lowered her hand as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] didn't shake it. That was fine though as not everyone knew of that custom.

He said that he recognized her. At first she figured that it was due to being a former Princess or something. But no...That wasn't it at all.

What he had said was all the more confusing with how he had said it. She took half a step back as she was unsure of things now. But if he had wanted to attack her again, he'd of done so already. Most especially when she landed on top of him. "At the Temple?....Where's your friend?" By that she had meant [member="Lark"] . Lori had messed with their underwater vessel. So was he here to mess with her own ship?

"He's not much of my friend, honestly. He'd probably try and kill me if he had the chance." Kahlil let out a nervous laugh. Yeah, this is more or less what he expected to happen when he told her who he was. The tall man rubbed the back of his head, glancing off in the distance. "Right, yeah. I just wanted to say sorry. I've done a lot of wrong as a Sith." He mumbled a bit as he too stepped back, trying not to be threatening to [member="Loreena Arenais"] .

"I'll uh.. Head out. Leave ya be."

Lori blinked. She furrowed her brows as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] apologized. Her Dad [member="Veiere Arenais"] had taught her to see the best in people, including the Sith.

The way he moved seemed to show him how uncomfortable he was. Most especially as he began to step away.

"Wait...you don't need to go. Apology accepted. So...it's your day off? What do you do for work?"

"I'm a spacer, technically. I travel around with the woman who helped me out of the Sith learning how to run a ship and such." Kahlil paused his speedy retreat, his hands in his back pockets now as he glanced around nervously. "What about you? I heard your mom and dad aren't royalty anymore." He went right for an engaging subject, though he didn't know the full story on what had happened. He glanced briefly to [member="Loreena Arenais"], trying to see if he had over stepped a line.

"Really? What's her name?" Isn't that how it usually goes? A woman holds such power over people sometimes. Lori had her own power over Zeke, but so too did he hold a certain power over her. They were just too smitten with eachother.

She gestured for [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] to follow her as she made her way up the ramp of her ship to collect her tools. That was when she heard his question about her parents....

So he did know who she was. And fully. Lori had always tried to hide it. But now she didn't really have to. "I'm doing a bunch of things...I own this ship, paid for it myself through a bunch of jobs.
I have a crew too, but right now they have the week off. My Mom and Dad aren't royalty anymore, it's true...which means that I'm not either. So that takes some pressure off. I no longer have to worry about being treated different or being held for ransom or something."

"Kelsie. She's pretty wonderful." The nervousness seemed to fade as Kahlil thought of his friend, an actually genuine smile for once. He blinked as [member="Loreena Arenais"] motioned for him to follow. He did so hesitantly, though he did appreciate the chance to check out how the Sparrow looked within. The young man's eyes widened in wonder as he studied, tracing his hand over the walls as they passed by.

"It's certainly nice to be free of the burden of royalty." He mumbled under his breath. "How many are on your crew?"

Lori led him to the small cargo hold. There were a few crates inside, but other than that it was pretty sparse. Next to the door she had her tool kit. She opened it and picked out a crowbar, sledge hammer and a screw driver.

"Kelsie...that's a nice name. Can't say that I've ever run into her though." Or she could have and just not realized it. The Galaxy was huge. But not big enough to stop [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] and her from running into eachother again.

"Care to give me a hand?
I found a tracking device that I need to dislodge."
Whether he chose to follow or not, Lori started making her way back out. "There's five of us in total. And yes, it is nice to not be burdened by royalty. I don't have to hide anymore, or worry about stuff that normal people don't have to wirry. And I don't have to run any planets. I can just...be my own goofball self and not have to worry about my public image."

"Who knows." He shrugged his shoulders as he continued to look about the ship. A brow raised curiously as [member="Loreena Arenais"] mentioned the tracker. So she was still being followed? Who by was the first question he had, but he kept that to himself. They weren't friends. Not yet. He nodded to her request, taking some of the tools and following her back outside.

"Must be nice, being so free." Kahlil gave a sad smile for just a moment, then shook his head clear. "Crews are pretty close together. Always good to have people you can trust fully."

Lori raised a brow at his comment on being free. "It is...you sound like someone that knows the burdens well. You wouldn't happen to be royalty, would you? Not that it means much to me. I wouldn't treat anyone differently for it. Mainly because I know how it feels." People tended to get angry when she told them about it too. They didn't like having her risk her safety.

She led [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] outside and then pocketed the screwdriver while climbing up with the crowbar in hand. They needed to get up to the top by the cockpit. Sure it was easier to use the access ladder inside, but it was a nice day and this was more fun.

"Yeah. We are getting pretty close. They are sorta like family. Of course that could be because I'm younger than most of them..."

"Not any longer. My father is uh.. well. The Emperor of the Sith. You can only imagine how displeased he'll be when he finds me." Kahlil forced a laugh. It was an actual fear of jis, as was the power his father had over him if the Emperor chose to use it. He pushed the thought from his mind as he followed [member="Loreena Arenais"] up, not even questioning the fact that they were climbing the outside of the ship.

"Ah? The captain's the youngest?"

"Emperor? Which one?
I know of a few that claim the title.
It's all kinda silly if you ask me. Much like anyone trying to take over the whole Galaxy. Everyone that have tried have failed. There is always opposition to any kind of take over. Look at Commenor, for example. It's been ruled by so many different sides in it's history, even during it's recent history. And not one side has ever held claim over it for long. It's just not possible."

Lori made it to the top, glancing back at [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] first to be sure that he got up okay, before she started towards the top of the cockpit area where the tracker was located. It was about the size of a fist and of the same colour as her ship. "Nah, there's one other on my crew that's younger.
So I'm the second youngest. They all don't seem to mind, though."

She knelt down, putting the screwdriver in close to the edge of the device, then started wacking it with the crowbar. "I wouldn't worry so much about displeasing your Dad. That's what kids do! I know that my Dad wants me to focus on training to be a Jedi, but I have obligations to my crew as well, and my ship. And that's fine as he's busy teaching others, going to meetings and such. And those meetings...ugh...they are so BORING!"

"Carnifex." He mumbled the answer to [member="Loreena Arenais"] as he got to the top. Kahlil tilted his head as he watched the ex-princess begin the brute force removal of the tracker. Wasn't there an easier way? Not that he'd tell her how to do anything. He found a place to sit, turning his gaze to the plains around them. It really was a beautiful planet. "It's uh. Not that easy for me. I've almost been killed a couple of times now, and I imagine the whole family will be coming to finish the job soon enough."
