Under Our Parent's Shadows

Lori continued to eat in silence like [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] did. It was the best way to do so anyways. Then they wouldn't have to worry about their meal getting cold because they were too busy gabbing away.

Once finished, she dipped her finger in some of the mess on her plate and licked her finger. "I know! It can't be by itself. I mean you need the right seasonings, dressings and such. But isn't it just divine?!" Lori picked up her drink and had some to wash her food down. "Now we can say that you've lived!"

"It gives me a whole new set of ideas on how to cook the next time it's my turn to make dinner. I always figured ground Bantha would taste well.. Terrible." Kahlil laughed as he took up one of his fries, chewing it briefly before following [member="Loreena Arenais"] 's example and sipping his own drink as he washed down the food. He leaned back in his seat, smiling faintly. "Thanks, by the way. For bringing me here."

Lori snickered to herself. "I think that almost any food can be made to taste good. It just depends on how it's prepared. And what spices or seasonings you use."

She was of course full. But in time her tummy would settle enough to allow her to nibble more like [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] was doing. "Haha, well you lost the bet! But you're welcome. I TOLD you that it'd be worth your while." And it was! For the both of them.

"So what's next for you?"

"I'll probably head back to my ship. Get ready for another shipment, continue through space. Really just live my life until I can't anymore, y'know?" Grant it, for the young man that time limit was far more likely to end sooner rather then later. He pulled out his wallet, taking out the credits needed to pay for the meal before setting it back in his pocket. He stretched his arms above his head before turning his gaze to [member="Loreena Arenais"] .

"What about you?"

Lori nodded as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] gave her his basic set of plans. No specifics. It was probably safer for both of them that way. She knew that, given who he was.

"Oh I'll probably go back to my Dad and get more training in. So far he's taught me some of the philosophy, but that's about it. I guess that I'll have to commit to it more in order to be able to learn some tricks." That's what she called Force abilities. Tricks. In some respects that was exactly what they were.

"Well, that light trick he taught you is possibly the strongest ability you can have against Darksiders." Kahlil chuckled a bit about how overlooked such a powerful ability was. If [member="Loreena Arenais"] and her father hadn't had such a skill, it was likely his surprise attack would have ended at least one of them. "You're strong in the Force. I've no doubt he'll teach you more. Probably just wants to make sure you don't end up in the dark. It's a slippery slope."

Lori took a sip of her drink. "My Dad didn't teach me that trick. I taught myself when I was little. Kind of a fluke, actually. I got the idea by watching dust particles in the sunlight."

She shrugged her shoulders a bit as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] mentioned slipping to the Darkside. "I don't think that I've ever used the Darkside, or been angry enough to do so."

"Sometimes it's not anger that lures you down. Sometimes it's just the desire and need to protect someone at all costs. To forget who you are and let whatever you can empower you. The Dark is tricky like that." Kahlil murmured. The fact [member="Loreena Arenais"] had taught herself such a powerful ability genuinely surprised the young man. He hadn't expected to meet someone so fluent in the Force around his own age. It brought a smile to his lips.

"A close friend taught me a trick with the wind I could show you. Nothing dark about it."

"Flying my ships or my jetpack empowers me. No Force use there. And it's sort of funny...with Force users they can just blame either Light or Dark for their actions. But what about non-Force users? They aren't judged under the same scrutiny. Are the bad ones less evil? Are the good ones less good?"

Just one of the things that she pondered on when she was alone.

Lori raised a brow as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] mentioned a new trick. "Oooohhh...can you show me please?"

"I.. Don't know. I never thought of it that way. Living my life with the Force certainly skewed my perspective." He laughed nervously. [member="Loreena Arenais"] had brought up a good point, one that he's going to have to start thinking about. But, when he had time to himself to at least. "Yeah, lets head back to your ship. It'd be better to practice it away from the folks in the city, yeah?"

"I think that we're all biased in some way. It's kind of hard not to be, unless we've walked in all types of shoes."

As [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] suggested that they go back to her ship, she nodded and then finished off her drink, gulping down the rest of it before she got to her feet. "Good idea! Wouldn't want to break anything or get anyone hurt." Lori was quite excited. She hadn't come across other Force Users much. So this was a real treat!

"Shouldn't break anything once we're back at the field." He chuckled warmly to [member="Loreena Arenais"] before they set off, crossing through the city to their destination. Yet again there was the hustle and bustle of people needing to get where they needed to go. Truly amazing how things were for people. How they needed to hurry. It made him glad he was able to finally slow down and enjoy his time.

Once they made it to the fields he chuckled again, waving his hand through the air. "Do you feel that breeze? It's truly wonderful."

Lori offered kind smiles to the people that happened by. She was usually the cheerful sort. Usually. And today was one of those days.

She paused at the field and took notice of the breeze when [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] spoke about it. "Yeah it is. Nice and cool." He wasn't creating it, was he? Lori watched him to see whether or not he was.

He wasn't controlling it.

Yet.

Kahlil raised hand slowly waved through the air. The wind picked up as the young man touched upon the Force, manipulating the very breeze. Slowly it picked up, bending and twisting, eventually revolving around itself in a small sphere of visible wind before him. "It's a simple trick, pretty nonlethal too. You can use it to knock back your foes or even immobilize them in a whirlwind." He let the display continue for a moment before dropping his hand, letting it dissipate.

"Do you know how to meditate and feel the Force?" [member="Loreena Arenais"]

Lori watched in wonder, most especially as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] created a sphere of wind. "You can immobilize someone inside?! Can you try it on me! Oh please!" She wondered if it would feel like flying with her jetpack. Could he susoend her in the air that way? Oh she just HAD to know!

To his question, she shrugged her shoulders a little. "I somewhat know how. I think. I just sorta sit there and relax, until I can almost sense the movements of different particles all around. Some move easier than others. I use that to make my little balls of light."

"Try it on you? That's uh. Well." He laughed, nervously again. [member="Loreena Arenais"] was rather trusting it seemed, especially since the last time they met he was trying to kill her and her father. It was.. Nice, really. To be trusted like that for once. He shook his head though. "That doesn't really teach you though. So, let's focus on getting you the trick down before I start tossing you around in the wind." Kahlil winked, then turned his focus again on the air around them.

"Then do that, but instead of feeling everything, focus on the wind. How the air feels over your skin, flows through your hair. Runs through the grass. Focus, listen, and help guide it."

Lori was probably the first to ever ask to experience being caught in some Force wind bubble. But to her it sounded like FUN and not like some kind of weapon.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"] began giving her a bit of instruction soon after. So she took in a deep breath and let it out slowly before closing her eyes. Of course she didn't really NEED to close her eyes, but it helped to dispel any disbelief, and gave her more confidence.

Lori did as he had said, focusing on the wind. Of course she didn't picture it quite the way that he told her. Instead she focused on using it to move the air particles around, as well as the particles that create each blade of grass, each strand of hair, as well as their skin. There was a gradual wind in the area already. So instead she had the air around them move in the opposite direction.

Kahlil watched silently as [member="Loreena Arenais"] went about what the young man had tasked her. At first, nothing. But soon enough he could feel the wind shift, changing direction in a way it shouldn't, and a smile formed on his face. "Good. Like that. See if you can make it faster, stronger. Maybe even try to center it on a point close by." Eagerly he continued to watch, his gaze going between her and their surroundings.

Lori furrowed her brows as she concentrated more. [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] gave her further instructions. Try to center it? What did he mean?

She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. This was going to be tougher. Lori pushed the particles harder, but as for centering it, all that she could muster was getting the wind to gust in the same spot over and over again. Was that what he had meant? She wasn't entirely certain.

Kahlil nodded approvingly as [member="Loreena Arenais"] continued on. While not exactly what he was asking of the young woman, it worked out rather well. She was getting better at it as time went on. But, she wasn't able to center it. Did he explain it wrong? A frown took over his features as he thought about it, idly scratching his chin. How could he explain it? Eventually he did think of a more proper explanation.

"By center, I mean kind of like a tornado. The wind revolving around the center at faster and faster speeds. It's a good way to immobilize people without actually hurting them. You lift them up, they might get dizzy, and they're unable to do much spinning around rapidly."
