Under Our Parent's Shadows

Lori kept her hands out of her pockets this time. She just let them hang freely at her sides.

Her jaw hung open slightly as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] revealed that he had NEVER had a Bantha Burger. "What planet are you from?? Do you not eat meat? Hhave you never had a Bantha steak or anything??" It was just surreal. She had figured that EVERYONE loved Bantha burgers. What's not to love about them?

"I learned pretty quickly that any food I didn't prepare myself could be poisoned. Folks wanted the recognition of killing a Zambrano." He shrugged casually as he stated this fact. That was the normalcy of his life as a Sith. "What's so great about them?"

(( *thwaps [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] You forgot to tag me!))

The only Zambrano that she could think of killing would be the ones that hurt her Mom. But it was tough to even think on that for long. Her Dad had taught her that such a thing was wrong. Murder, even if it was to avenge her family, was horribly wrong.

"Well you don't have to worry about that around me. Heck, I'll even be your food taster and prove that it's not poisoned first." It meant more food for her, anyways. And when would she ever turn down MORE of a good thing?

"They are delicious, of course! So meaty and juicy, with all the right spices and dressings. I could eat them every day! What's your favourite food to eat?"

"I learned how to make a couple things. Mostly breakfast stuff. Pancakes. Waffles." He paused, idly scratching his chin in thought. "Waffles definitely. So light and fluffy with a crisp outside. Delicious." Kahlil grinned to [member="Loreena Arenais"] as he described his favorite food, but also shook his head. "And, no. I trust you enough to not think you'd poison me. Doesn't seem like a very Jedi thing to do in my opinion, and you seem pretty Jedi."

"Oh I've had those!
But not since I was little. After I was sent to train with the Mandos, I got to eating other things instead."

Lori sorta beemed a bit with pride as [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] complimented her on her Jedi-like behaviour. Surely that'd be something that her Dad would like to hear! Though he wouldn't like who it was coming from.

"Well I try to be. I'm just sorta focused on other stuff too, you know? At least I don't have to worry about being too responsible.
Though it's hard to know what's in store for me in the future. I couldn't tell you what I'd be doing 20 years from now, or even 10 years from now for that matter."

Kahlil nodded his head to [member="Loreena Arenais"] . It was really hard to know where life would go at this point. He had run from the Sith, but for how much longer would his family let him roam free? How much longer until his father decided that it was time for him to come home and took his body? A solemn expression took over the young mans face as he glanced out to the city as they walked through it, taking in the sights, the sounds. It was a busy day, people wandering to their destination and trying to avoid bumping into the strangers around them.

He'd miss this sense of freedom.

But, there was no point in dwelling on the future. Instead, Kahlil shook his head clear of the thoughts, smiling down to his new friend. "The most we can do is live in the now, y'know? Never know when things might change."

Lori nodded in agreement with [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] . "Yeah, I suppose so. Things do tend to change rather quickly. Sometimes not for the better. But....I guess that depends on how one can look at things."

There were always multiple angles and multiple points of view for everything. Sometimes that can be so confusing! But it's life.

Lori grinned as she spotted Plenty's just down the block. She took in a whiff of air. "Ohhh....I can smell those burgers already.
Can you?"

"That it does." He nodded to [member="Loreena Arenais"] . How you looked at things could drastically change good and bad. Like when he was still in the Sith and seeing the galaxy in a whole different way. Regardless he sniffed the air as Lori mentioned the sent, his gaze traveling around. ".. No, I can't say I do. Then again, I don't know what they smell like to begin with. Does this mean we're close at least?"

Lori laughed. "Yes, silly, it's right over there." She pointed out the popular restaurant chain's huge signage that [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] could probably see if he looked. Then she took hold of his arm and nearly pulled him along as her pace quickened. "Your taste buds are gonna just go wild! Oh, and make sure to have extra napkins on hand.
These burgers tend to be a bit messy."
Already she was salivating just thinking about it.

"Messy?" He blinked up at the chain restaurant. Oh, Bastion had a number of these. He just never wen- oh she's dragging him. He laughed in surprise as he felt [member="Loreena Arenais"] tug his arm as he followed her in. "Hey hey. You don't have to drag me!" Kahlil continued to laugh glancing around the restaurant once they were inside. It was.. As tacky as he expected it to be by the sign.

Oh it was tacky alright. And quirky and amusing and kewl!

Lori let go of [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] 's arm as soon as they set foot in the door. She approached the hostess and smiled. "Table for two please." It didn't even take much of a wait. The restaurant was busy, but fitting in two people was easy enough.

She followed the hostess to the small table and chose a seat. They were in the middle of the restaurant, as opposed to being by any of the windows. That was probably better anyways. Lori took hold of the menu. She already knew what she wanted, but decided to snoop for anything new. "I recommend the Bantha Burger Delux!"

Kahlil took a seat opposite of [member="Loreena Arenais"] , glancing right out the window to the busy street. He smiled warmly. The ex-Sith loved people watching. It was born out of a need to protect himself, but he enjoyed seeing so many people go about their days. His hazel eyes flicked over to Lori at her recommendation, his brow raising. "Delux huh? Sure. That sounds alright."

Their waiter arrived and he ordered just that before glancing again to Lori for her choice curiously.

Lori only skimmed through the menu. Not much of anything enticed her to change from her routine. She looked up to the waiter. "I'll have the Delux too. Oh and a Frostie-shake!" Those fruity slushies with milk were sooooo yummy! A perfect compliment to the burger.

She leaned back in her chair and looked to [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] . "I can't believe that I getto witness this." Of course she'd just DIE if he hated it altogether.

"I don't think it's gonna be that impressive.. Is it?" A confused expression took over Kahlil as he peered at [member="Loreena Arenais"] curiously. She made it seem like he was about to do something unimagionable. Though, he found himself curious now that she brought it up. What if the burger was that impressive. Was something that could change his life? He eagerly began glanced around for the food.

Lori just grinned. "Oh it is! And remember, it'll be messy.
So try to bite into it over your plate. That'll help catch the stuff that oozes out."

Oh [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] was really going to be in for a treat. "You seriously haven't had one before?" She had to double check of course.

"Messy huh. Alright." Kahlil scratched his chin nervously. [member="Loreena Arenais"] was certainly making a big deal of all of thise, which made him still feel both excited and nervous. Over food of all things. He laughed, glancing around still. "No, I haven't had any before. I look forward to it."

"You're in for a real treat!"

It was in that moment that the bantha burgers arrived. Lori licked her lips in anticipation, looking to [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] . "Okay, now follow my lead." She picked up the burger with both of her hands, being sure that she used her pinky fingers to secure the bun in place while she took a big bite. Sauces and juices from the meat slopped out onto the plate, trickling down her hand. She chewed and chewed, savouring that first bite which is always the best.

"Your turn!"

Kahlil blinked as he watched [member="Loreena Arenais"] take her bite. It was certainly odd watching someone eat, but she had insisted he do so. His eyebrows twitched at the sight of the mess though. It definitely wasn't a clean way to eat, and he was suppose to use only his hands? His gaze turned down to his own burger as he took a grip on it, leaning down to bite. The sudden rush of flavor nearly caught him off guard. His eyes widened as he chewed, nodding slowly to Lori.

He didn't bother saying anything, instead taking another bite as he began to devour the burger. It was delicious.

Lori watched [member="Kahlil Zambrano"] bite into his burger as though she was about to watch him open a huge present. And in some respects it was like a present! A present full of tasty, yummy goodness!

She smiled even more broadly as he seemed to savour it. He didn't even talk, he just dove in for more! Oh Lori was feeling mighty pleased with herself. Snickering she then took another big bite of her burger and did her best to keep the contents from sliding out between the buns. Usually she was great at that at first, it was just that at the end she'd usually have one tiny piece of one of the buns. Just bizarre. But at least she planned ahead for the mess!

Kahlil dove deep into the food. He had never let himself enjoy something like this before, and it showed as he devoured the whole burger within minutes without ever speaking to [member="Loreena Arenais"] . He just wanted to enjoy the food! Once that was done however the young man let out a satisfied sigh, grinning to his companion. "That was amazingly good. Who'd a thunk Batha could taste good?"
