Private Vigilance on Voss

-Past Thread - Takes place shortly after the Silver Jedi Order took Voss-

Metis Athena Elpis Metis Athena Elpis and Ura Iolar Ura Iolar had been Josh's pupils for quite some time. He had been away from the Silver Rest for a good while as he was attending to business on the Outer Rim that concerned his own personal issues. But he'd returned in earnest in hopes of ensuring that they would be ready for their Jedi Trials eventually. He had done a handful of classes with them, and even a mission or two with the rest of the Silver Jedi. But now, it was time for them to show what they could do in a more personal, singular environment. This was a lesson in of itself, of course. But Josh hoped that the two of them would stay on their toes.

This time, it was a simple diplomatic mission. See where the Silver Jedi stood with Voss. But since negotiations always seemed to be... Unpredictable, he had warned his Padawans to be ready for anything. This could either be a test of patience, or a test to be able to handle anything that might be thrown at them.

On The Maekrix, Josh approached the two of them as they began to make their way to Voss.

"What do you two think we'll wind up dealing with?"

Ura followed her Master closely, looking over to her friend and fellow Padawan, Metis. The lervon had over time gotten much more comfortable with her new green crystal mass, and right now it had been shaped into patterns along her torso, and the now usual "finger gloves" on her left hand. She would soon lean over to Metis as she looked around at everything, seeming the let out a happy feeling.

"This'll be fun." She then heard Josh and looked over, thinking on the question. What could they expect? That was a hard thing to know for sure. She thought for a moment though, seeming to get an answer while she thought through it.

"Well, I hope it's going to go smoothly, but I can imagine there'll be a lot of questions that they want answers to."

Metis tried to remind poised and dignified as she waited patiently for the elevator to arrive at their destination. Truthfully she was agitated, nervous and impatient. Not only was this a diplomatic mission which was probably her favourite kind of mission, it was also a mission with her Master
Josh Dragovalor Josh Dragovalor and fellow Padawan Ura Iolar Ura Iolar She was mentally reviewing everything she knew about Voss and it’s people and culture. She was so much in her own head that she almost missed her master question.

“The Voss species have a very intuitive relationship with the Force, and even have their own Order of the Force called the Voss Mystics” Metis replied

“Having said that… well to put it mildly the Voss have a somewhat adversarial relationship with the other predominate sentient species of the planet the Gormack” Metis replied on automatic “It’s not a dissimilar history to my own planet of Naboo, or many other colonized planets with their native species”

Metis paused as she considered her next answer.

“In the past the Sith and” Metis hesitated with her continued “… and well previous factions of Jedi have played this animosity against each other. With the planets inhabitants caught in the middle.”

“It could prove a difficulty in any diplomatic relations..”
Metis admitted awkwardly "Negotiations could be short"

"Good. I'm glad you've been studying" he noted to Metis, nodding his head in approval. Doing one's background research before a diplomatic assignment was a good call. "Learn their customs best you can before any diplomatic endeavor. Otherwise you might risk offending them."

Despite that... Indeed, negotiations could very well be short, if the planet's recent history was anything to look at.

"Negotiations could either be really long, or really short. I'd be prepared for anything. Keep your guard up, but don't let yourself look too high-strung either. Or let yourself -be- too high strung for that matter. They'll pick up on it if you're faking it, and really, stressing -too- much just isn't good for you. Makes you sloppy" The Jedi Master advised to his two Padawans as he heard the rest of their opening insights. "Find balance, just as the Force requires it, so too does how you carry yourself... Inside and out."

The Maekrix descended onto the surface. It appeared that members of the Mystics had come to meet with them.

"Are you nervous?" he asked his Padawans plainly.

Ura looked at Metis, a... surprised feeling coming off of her. How did she have time to study an entire culture? The Lervon just couldn't believe it. Either way, she listened to Josh as he explained the mission. Or at least she tried to keep up. It was a bit much, and honestly Ura was starting to realize why she never wanted to be in politics or something similar. Then he asked if her and Metis were nervous. Ura would start a monotone laugh before looking down and saying "Very."

Metis nodded at her Masters compliment and acknowledgement. It was quite literally diplomacy 101, Metis had done a course on it at Theed University as part of her Handmaiden training. Every other semester they were reminded to research any potential allies, enemies, negotiation partners, economic relationships or even just social events.

Metis nodded at her Masters advice, she started practising some breathing exercises and meditation much as she would before battle which she supposed she was. Politics could be just as deadly as war, in fact you rarely had war without the politics, with politics leading to war. Hopefully this particular diplomatic mission would not turn out to be so disastrous.

Metis considered her Masters question carefully and examined herself for the answer.

“No Master I’m not” Metis realised with some surprise at herself “I’ve been trained for this sort of mission my entire life, and have been on one or two before.”

“Truthfully Master this is where I excel.”
Metis wasn’t bragging she was just being honest of this particular set of skills she was capable of. “If anything I’m excited not nervous”

Josh didn't like politics either. He himself wouldn't last a day on Commenor. But they were shorthanded after the efforts to get to this point, and so Josh was just going to have to suck it up and do his best. It would be a good learning experience for the Padawans anyway. Metis said that she excelled in this field, while Ura was very nervous. He smiled slightly. "Studying them and experiencing them or experiencing others are very different things. Don't get too overconfident. You can never know for sure what to expect."

She may have been on diplomatic missions before, but there was no telling what could happen. The battlefield was always far more predictable than politics. He liked it that way. There were some complications in battle in terms of who to hit and how, but once it was figured out? Far easier to manage. In politics, nothing was ever for sure. And nothing stayed the same for long. In politics, selfishness was always hidden far better than a body could ever be.

As the Maekrix docked, men in robes were already there to greet them. Under the hoods Josh noticed they had a light red skin with black markings across the sides of their faces. They were Force Users, they knew, same as them. They were typically quite neutral in the Force, though it was likely put under some strain under the heel of the Sith. Josh was glad they could finally free them from that strain.

“Lord Mystics” Josh greeted politely with a bow. They did not bow, though nodded their heads slightly. “Master Dragovalor. Your presence was foreseen” one answered. They peered to his sides. “And these are…?”

“My students” Josh answered. “Padawans Iolar and Elpis. Come to learn more of the Voss people and the Mystics as part of their training. I pray their presence is no inconvenience, Lord Mystics.”

“Not at all, Master. It is important to teach the young ones in all ways possible. We will grant them access to the Tower of Prophecy’s archives to study as much as they wish while we discuss. Come, into the Tower. We can discuss your business inside.”

Josh frowned as the group began to walk towards the Tower. "We appreciate your kind offer. But I'd actually like for them to be present for the talks. It's important they see how to handle these matters while they're still learning. A Jedi should know how to conduct themselves both on and off the battlefield. If your offer for study still stands after the fact though, we will happily accept your generous offer. I am sure there is plenty they could learn from there."

One of them turned to face him. "Unfortunately not, Master Dragovalor. You are a member of the Assembly and thus have the trust of the Mystics. The presence of your students on our planet is welcome, but not within the chambers with our leaders. After the occupation of the Sith, new security measures have become necessary. I hope you understand that this is not personal. But protecting ourselves in all ways possible has become a necessity. In time, we hope that the bonds of trust between us and the Order will allow for far more free access. Please forgive us."

Josh didn't like it. It flew in the face of why he had brought the two of them. But their word was law. So he simply nodded his head. "Understood."

He looked back to the Padawans and mouthed a few words of apology. They would have their chance in time, he hoped. Midway through the Tower, the Mystics would stop. They would be pointed towards a room where a massive library would be beholden to them.

"Voss history and customs, and the ways of the Mystic all can be found in this room. Far more than your own archives could achieve. Consider this viewing for your Padawans as a show of goodwill on our part. If they have any questions, we will have staff posted around to answer them."

Ura was a bit confused. She thought they would be sitting in on the meeting, but they were basically going to an archive? Yay..... She did her best to hide her annoyance at this idea, and simple nodded a little. She would walk along quietly, turning to look at Metis as her mind flicked around. This was going to be... boring.....

"So.... We get to look at an archive?"
