Rygel Larraq sat the the command chair of the Mythosaur and listened to his bridge officers work diligently at their stations. Most of the ship's power was being diverted to the engines and the struggling tractor beam system that lined the bottom of the ship. On the holographic display at the center of the bridge, Larraq could see his fleet moving in formation towards Dromund Kaas. In the projection, Larraq could see the Mythosaur's cargo held below the vessel by a number of tractor beams. Each of the 25 separate tractor beam projectors had captured a frigate sized asteroid and were currently straining to keep each of the massive lumps of rock and metal in place. The asteroids, for their part, were lined up in five rows. A central row of seven asteroids was flanked on either side by a row of five and then by a row of four asteroids.
Below the Mythosaur, on the other side of the asteroids, the Shab'rudur moved in synch with the rest of the fleet, inverted so to keep the Mythosaur and the asteroids along its ventral side. It was a simple tactic designed to keep the most guns possible facing forward and outward of the naval formation. It was a tactic Larraq was using with all the ships of his fleet. To either side of the Ash'amur-class Star Destroyer were the two Kom'rk-class Assault Cruisers that Larraq had brought with the fleet. They had been heading for Aeten II to deal with reports of a Sith Star Destroyer in the asteroid field there when Larraq and the Mand'alor had repurposed them to the invasion of Dromund Kaas. The two ships were rotated so that the Ash'amur that they flanked was between their ventral sides. From the Mythosaur's perspective, the two ships were on their port and starboard sides.
Above the Mythosaur was the rest of the fleet. The three tiny Kad'ika Light Cruisers were arranged in an inverted V formation with the Liberation-class Cruiser forming the front tip of an off-center, diamond-like formation. The four ships currently had their ventral sides facing the Mythosaur, but should they need to break away they would do so after rotating to keep their ventral sides facing each other.
The click of a lighter rang through the bridge of the Mythosaur as Rygel Larraq ignited the tip of his cigarette. The man closed his eyes as he inhaled deeply and basked in the scent and sensations of the cancer stick. <The next few hours will be the hardest.> Larraq thought to himself before exhaling and breathing normally. He watches the plume of smoke drift up and away from him. He watched it ascend to the ceiling where it pooled briefly before being sucked into an air-vent. Another deep inhalation of the chemical mix bombarded Larraq's lungs moments before beginning its journey to the Mythosaur's air scrubbers.
Larraq wasn't usually a fan of such vices. He'd been addicted to them briefly in the past before forcing himself to overcome and move on from the habit. But he needed his wits about him today. And he would indulge in old vices if that was what it took to keep his mind sharp and focused during this battle.
His dadapad anchored to an interface on the left arm of the chair, Larraw tapped at it while the cigarette still hanging loosely from the fingers of his right hand, For the last two hours he had been overseeing the slow acceleration of the fleet and its cargo while trying to anticipate the coming battle. The Mythosaur's databanks had uploaded with all the information Mandal Hypernautics had collected on the Sith Fleet from the battle of Yaga Minor. Using it, Larraq had been trying to estimate the potential size and composition of the defense fleet that would oppose him. Or at least plan for the counterattack that would follow the invasion.
So far, he had come up with a rough idea of what sort of fleet he could expect. Its exact size was impossible to anticipate, but Larraq tried anyway. He had come up with five possible fleet compositions that he could expect. With that he had come up with eight tactical maneuvers that could be used as an opening attack against the Sith. He knew he could come up with more ideas if he had more information on the enemy fleet that awaited him... but there was nothing more for him to do until they showed themselves.
Taking another drag from the cigarette in his hand, Larraq watched the numbers in the corner of his datapad rise and fall as his fleet sped up and the planet got closer. He watched and he waited. And he took another drag from his cigarette.
