Objective: Destroy the pirate base

MARG SABLl! NOW! Bartic shouted as a mass of droid starfighters took off from the asteroid.

They would need to crush the wave of advancing ships quickly in order to have support the troop carriers, Bartic looked through the third wave ships and noted that most of the interceptors were still on board the carriers, good he could make use of them without weakening his next attack.

Director Myth'rand opened a communication to the other ships as well as his own starfighter control, "Launch any A-wing interceptors still on board, have them assist the transports, tell them to ignore all other objectives until the troops have landed." He then cut it off before any of the captains had time to object, they need to act fast and there was no time for debate, as for now the Resolute would continue to spin and close the gap so he could launch his bombers to decimate the rather large fleet bearing down on him.

Jakkor nodded as he replied curtly "Yes as you wish sorry for the lateness." He nodded as he looked back to the young officer that waited for him, the image of Bartic shut off as he replied. "Send in the gunships through the flack, you have command of the Fearless while I go and join with the gunships transmit to me if you encounter any difficulties." The young officer nodded back and replied as he walked to the front of the bridge. "Yes Master Jedi" He than left the commander in charge for now as he went down to the Hanger, the troops were ready inside the gunships the doors to hanger opened and several gunships departed shielded by the swarm of fighters and bombers that were pushing through. He grabbed onto a railing all too used to the sounds and rumbles of combat, for a moment the sounds threatened to trigger his PTSD but he willed himself to keep going.

The flak from the corvettes shot several gunships down but most made it through. They started landing inside and the troops quickly moved out engaging the pirates in a flurry of blaster fire, even though it pained Jakkor he ignited his green blades and gave a traditional tusken battle cry as he cut through a group of Pirates, within minutes the pirates were pushed back from the hanger and head deep into the base while Jakkor grabbed his comlink and transmitted to Bartic. "Jedi Kess to Bartic hanger is secure pushing through the rest of the base now Kess out." He said as he motioned for several squads to guard the hanger and he moved into the corridor.

Shorarri watched as the Venator drew ever nearer. Then something terrible happened. A swarm of enemy fighters began to attack the ships. The pod was released from the tractor beam's grasp and once more began to spin in free fall. Shorarri watched as countless droid fighters flew by to attack the Venator beyond. "What's happening?" Moe asked as he tried to peer past the Wookiee's enormous head. [The enemy has launched fighters] Shorarri growled simply. Moe nodded then sat down. "We're gonna die out here!" Moe began shouting as he brought his knees up to his chest and began rocking back and forth. Shorarri grabbed hold of the man [Get it together! We can still fly to safety!] Shorarri roared. He sat down at the escape pods controls and stared blankly at the incomprehensible buttons and dials. [How do I fly this thing?]

"WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE," Moe screamed

"Get this piece of osik moving!" Zaz yelled as the pilot sharply turned to the left, narrowly missing a squad of vulture droids. "I am, I am!" Rather than return to the rear of the shuttle Zaz gripped the back of the pilot's chair, bracing himself as they began taking more advanced maneuvers. As the pilot turned from the vulture droids he also moved away from the asteroid base, only furthering their distance to the target. "Kark!" Immediately Zaz opened his comm line to their fighter escort.

"All available squadrons, target those vulture droids and get them off of us! If they blast our shuttles this is gonna be a short trip!" He turned his comm device off, allowing the pilot to speak up once again. "Three Vulture droids on our tail, sir I'm gonna need you to strap in!" He gestured to the adjacent copilots seat before violently jerking the ship's yoke.

Heavy footfalls continued to trek through the foliage, natural detritus of shedding trees and twigs echoing throughout the woods as they were stepped upon. But before making any substantial coverage of the land, the very same aura felt from before grew stronger; closer it approached, and nearer would Abraxas approach it to discover what else other than himself lurked among the thicket of wood. Despite that there was yet another darkness among the trees other than himself, the lost soul began to tread more hastily in the opposite direction.

With blade drawn, Abraxas let out a deep growl, his voice somewhat amplified by an outdated modulator within the helmet of the cursed armor stuck to his body. "I...can feel you. SHOW YOURSELF!" With a heavy swing, the former Sith managed to slice through a medium sized tree, the wood splitting and creating a tremendous snapping noise that would likely be heard a mile off from his position.

"COME OUT!"

Heavy footfalls continued to pervade the air, ever-searching.

Ra really didn't know how to react to the Ithorian or the woman, so just fell into step with everybody else. The heat and humidity making her sweat almost instantly. She glanced around the forest, knowing something was behind them following and another something in front of them. The thing they were here to figure out.

After a few minutes of walking through the forest, she heard the sound of a tree splitting and crashing to the ground. It wasn't close to them, but in the direction they were heading. It might be a natural fall, but there wasn't enough wind to account for it. Narrowing her eyes, Ra tried to peer deeper into the foliage, but failed.

"Cedric, that falling wasn't natural. No wind to account for it."

Of course, he had probably already figured that out as well, but she gave voice to her thought anyway.

Vishkar looked towards @Ra'a'mah, shaking his head. He looked pained. His deep Ithorian voice grumbled, and the translator began to beep back in reply.

"Naural it was not indeed. Someone disturbs, the forest." The Ithorian frowned and looked about cautiously, his dark, large eyes scouring the atmosphere around them. Something was indeed disturbing the forest, and it wasn't happy. His ears picked up the echos of anger; loud, raging vocals that seemed to be coming for them. He lowered his head and thumbed the hammer of his blaster pistol.

He hoped his allies would have his back on this.

A while back he'd taken to the trees, more than thick enough for him to skip between branches at a decent pace while also using the elevation to keep out of sight. "Ooops!", he called out as he landed on one branch and arched his back, swinging his arms in circles as he righted himself quickly before he moved on, looking like some idiotic cartoon or some second rate ninja. He wasn't nearly that acrobatic, however, and though he was an impressive hunter and could move through the forest with a practiced guile, tree dashing was not at all a strong suit of his.

"Maybe if I hold my arms behind me and lean into my stride...", he whispered to himself as he straightened his arms out behind him and leaned forwards, jumping from branch to branch as he tried his best to keep balance. Before he could practice the silly tactic, however, Varus saw a cluster of individuals in the distance, still on the move for reasons unknown.

"There you are...", he whispered as he hopped a few more branches to get a little closer, this time far more quietly, however. When he was close enough to see what was going on from above and at a distance, though, he stopped, reached out and braced himself against the tree in order to keep his balance as he tried to use the force to heighten his hearing.

Bhakt Wemk

The Prospective Weapon Master
They continued onward, uneventfully for a bit. The forest seemed to stretch on for awhile. The nikto coulnd't help but admire the place. He didn't often get see forests and this one was peaceful enough. Well peaceful until a sharp snap and bang of a tree falling was heard in the distance. Bhakt looked in the direction but it was too far off to really see anything. Ra and the Ithorian both mentioned it couldn't have been natural and Bhakt found himself agreeing.

"Yeah..that's not the presence I sensed earlier though. I can't get a read on what the hell that could be."

Bhakt directed the men to keep moving. Too much was out in this forest for his liking and the faster they reached the objective the better.

Ra's words stirred the youth.

A hand fell toward the shattergun at his belt, and the Archlord stood up bolt-straight. The click of his weapon was all that broke the silence as his comrades spoke their peace. Gray eyes peered out into the dusky din of the forest, but his eyes accomplished little.

"I don't like this."

The sound of a shout could be heard in the distance. With it came another breaking of branches just a short ways to the south, and Cedric found himself bringing his shattergun to bear. Silence followed once more, and then it pounced.

The creature was a lithe thing with scaled skin. Its teeth were misshapen and too long for its canine muzzle, and its paws were marked with terrible claws. It descended upon one of the red-cloaks, who promptly unloaded his plasma rifle into the thing.

The beast was struck dead on, but it did not slow. Even as it began to bleed profusely from the wound, it swiped its claws into the man's arm. To his credit, the warrior only grunted as the beast darted back into the underbrush. Four more creature could be seen following in its wake.

"A pack of vornskr," Cedric scowled. "I understand now. The animals of this place have been corrupted - they'll come back soon enough."

The Resolute completed it's roll and the pirates continued to advance as expected, down the hanger flight crews were sitting in their ships, the tension was so thick you could break your hand on it if you tried to cut it.

Bartic readied to personally give the command to launch. "Stand by."

'Come on, a little closer.' "Stand by."

'Almost there' "Stand by"

There it was "All bombers launch, fighters launch once your bomber squadron has left the hanger, there's plenty of targets out there, happy hunting."

This couldn't have happened at a better time, the first wave was coming back to re-arm their heavy munitions, adding to the confusion amongst their targets."

Bhakt watched as the Vornskr pounced on the red cloak and retreated back into the forest. He could see and he reached out and could sense the others, 4 in total.

"Damn...watch your backs!"

One suddenly jumped out maw snapping as it descended. Bhakt simply side stepped to his right and brought his ax down against the beasts spine. He followed through taking the cat like creature spine laying it low. The rest growled in anger and rushed the squad.

"Get ready, they're karking pissed off now."

Shorarri tapped a few buttons on the pod and it jutted forward. Shorarri stared out of the canopy of the pod. They were flying around sporadically and Shorarri began to roar nervously. He had no clue how to fly this thing. The pod flew past hundreds of fighters. Laser fire flew past them and explosions wracked the fragile pod. Then an enemy MC40a came into view. Shorarri roared again [WE'RE GONNA DIE] Shorarri shouted and his cries were echoed by Moe's own. The Pod crashed through the ships interior and jostled it's occupants violently.

Having strapped himself into the copilot's seat Zaz watched as their pilot skillfully avoided the harsh pursuit of the vulture droids. Throwing the shuttle into a sharp turn once again Zaz caught a glimpse of two X-wings eradicating the droids that had been following behind them. As soon as he saw the display the Mandalorian aimed his hand towards the base. "That's our window, go go go!" Unbuckling his harness Zaz turned out of the cockpit, his eyes scanning over his soldiers as he felt the shuttle shift in space once again.

"Get ready!" He called out to his men, urging them to prep their suits for space. "Remember, we only have at most ten minutes of oxygen! These suits are not meant to support long times in space, so we need to breach the base fast!"

Once again the pilot called back to Zaz, this time his voice had the reinforcement of confidence with it. "Almost there sir! I can set down for a couple seconds, anything after that is too hot!" Zaz responded to the man with a curt nod of his head before tapping a button on the rim of his buy'ce. Sealing the helmet to his face he exhaled softly, beginning to pace his breathing.

Vishar looked at the blaster in his hands and then at the coming creatures that surrounded them; Vomskr. Terrifying beasts. Beasts that could harm them, kill them. Harm him and his newfound allies.

He couldn't allow it.

His blaster would prove useless, and he didn't want the creatures to suffer. Feeling the motion of the world round him, he grimaced and roared in loud Ithorian, his deep vocals growling as the translator kicked to life around his neck. "Behind me, you must all get! And quickly, now!"

Taking in a deep breath as the pack surrounded them, the Ithorian stepped to the edge of the crowd, and screamed again in his explosive boom, his twin throats and mouths screeching in a deep echo that made the grass and branches about him shake and shiver. The boom would have crawled through the bones of the creatures, and depending on how sensitive their hearing was, would probably concuss them. It wouldn't kill them, but no more blood would be shed.

It was worth a try.

The officer in charge of the tractor beam spoke up, "Uh sir, I uh, lost the pod, one of the droids interrupted the beam, the pilot must have panicked and burned away, it's no longer in that sector."

It was only one pod, Bartic was sure they could live without whoever was on board, "Very well then, be ready to assist damaged fighters in landing."

Bartic turned to make a general address to the crew, "Attention all hands in the hanger bay, damaged fighters and fighters in need re-arming inbound, damage control and medical team move from standby to high alert, estimated 45 craft unable to continue fighting due to damage or pilot injury."

"Not much of a way to negotiate with such creatures!" Cedric half-shouted as he prepared to unleash a wave of telekinetic energy upon the beasts. It wouldn't be enough to truly harm any of the creatures, but perhaps it would deter them from continuing the hunt.

Alas, he would not be able to test his theory.

The Ithorian stepped forward and made his presence known. Not one for blind heroics, Cedric complied with his request immediately. With the forewarning this time around, he took a moment to plug his ears turn away from the beasts. The sound that followed could have been deafening.

The remaining beasts scurried off with their tails between their legs into the depths of the forest. They fled toward the wood's heart up north; the group's destination. With the creatures frightened, one of the soldiers began tending to his wounded comrade.

Cedric breathed a sigh of relief.

"We should deal with this as quickly as we can," his brow furrowed. "I haven't seen pure corruption like this in a long time. The forest is buckling beneath its weight. I don't know what we can do to help, but I figure we'll find a proper way at its heart."

He shook his head. "I hope neither of you are too afraid of the beasts. They'll think twice before hunting us again."

Bhakt Wemk

Bhakt braced for the coming attack with the rest of his squad, but before he could Vishkar stepped forward. The Ithorian warned the group and prepared another sound wave attack. Bhakt didn't waste and instant and got behind him covering his ears. The beasts were completely caught in the attack, the sound driving them away from the group. Bhakt gave the Vishkar a pat on the shoulder.

"Good work buddy, and thanks for the warning this time"

He turned to Cedric as the young man voiced his concerns. He wasn't sure honestly what he could do. He wasn't that well versed in the use of force beyond using it to hit things harder. Whatever waited for them, it was possible would just be out of his league.

"Well whatever it is, I say we get to it before more creatures come to greet us."

Shorarri shook his head as he came too. He smelled the distinct stench of something burning. All around him the lights had turned dark aside from the occasional spark. Metal had rended and torn and when Shorarri finally took a moment to look around he noticed what appeared to be a long dark corridor. The pod had been completely split open admitting Shorarri into the ship. Moe was nowhere in sight and Shorarri began walking down the hall nervously. Shorarri had no idea what to do. He removed his machete from its sheath and watched as a shadowed figure entered the dark halls with him. The man looked at the tall figure of Shorarri and the Wook saw the faint glint of metal. The two charged each other and with one quick strike Shorarri cut the mans abdomen. He fell to his knees and bled out on the floor.

When the creatures attacked his interested was immediately piqued. This little troop of individuals seemed savvy, but actions spoke louder than... appearances. At least, that was his opinion on the mater, for he'd been in a fight brutish, oppressive beings before who appeared menacing in nature, but they always seemed to fall hard, and some of the most menacing adversaries he'd faced in all his years ended up hitting like newborn kittens in the end. These, though, he expected a little more out of than that.

"Let's see what you've all got...", he whispered to himself as he used the commotion to move, their yelling and fighting masking his movements overhead as he began to skip from branch to branch again. He took one stride, another, another and then another before he was in the most preferred position, right above them, and when he was he squatted down and braced himself against the trunk of the tree he was in. As he watched the exchange with the beasts, however, he watched as one of the men used the force and released a telekinetic blast that washed over the immediate area, which had caused Varus to wince just a bit as the energy rushed through him.

"Interesting indeed...", he then whispered as he eyed the one that it had come from.
