Every statement about her mother, even just those two sentences, shed a sliver of more light upon the elusive Tmoxin Temi. Varas knew the woman had chosen to estrange her, but how and why remained a mystery.

The blonde Disciple watched her father navigate through the asteroid field, nervously pulling at the hem of her black leather gloves. Her stomach dipped as Kyrel wove them in and out of the atmosphere, shooting at Silver Jedi fighters with blazes of green fire.

While Jardain did not feel the effect of the turbulence, Varas did, her skin turning a distinct pale shade from the bumpy ride down. She kept gazing over at the fellow female Force user, her face a mask of distress, until she finally began to meditate, connecting her body and mind to the Darkside. She also searched her implanted memories for similar space vessel rides to help ease her anxiety over that free-fall feeling.

Talking helped, but she did not want to disturb either pilot or passenger with her babbling and questions. She hoped she would show her father how far she’d come in a short period of time with her training, but was also terribly afraid of disappointing him.

Oddly, Varas did not feared death less than the tumbling and plummeting sensation happening presently in her body. She feared that once they landed, her legs would wobble like a baby foal, or that the vertigo would persist.

"So it begins."

Those were the Jedi Master's words as he remained while the others within Aegis Base went on high alert, Jedi and Rangers alike scrambling to their battle stations. He only turned to watch Valae take the lead, as was her duty to the Order just as it had been his once, and could not help but feel both saddened as well as a swelling of pride rising in his chest. She was fully committed to doing the best job she could with being Grandmaster, and it was hard not to feel inspired in spite of her rather obvious lack of experience in such a station.

She may not be of his blood, and she may not carry his name, but as far as he was concerned she was a Heavenshield.

Eyes turned towards the skies as the sky was filled with enemy and allied ships alike, clashing both within and without the Ossus atmosphere. Space battles, in his experience, always served as prelude to the ground assault, of which he held far greater knowledge than the metal behemoths up amongst the clouds and stars. Call it old-fashioned Valkyri thinking, but those things seemed like enormous death traps. If he were to perish on a battlefield, he shall do so with both feet on firm soil.

While all the others followed the plan laid out by the new Grandmaster, Thurion instead opted to follow his own initiative. He was never one for fancy strategy anyway, preferring to face his enemy head on. Leaping to the highest point of Aegis Base with the aid of the Force, he stood atop a tall tower where he found his perch. As First Order dropships appeared from above and closing in fast, Thurion proceeded to reach out with both hands with the Force surging through his entire being, snatching the controls of several enemy dropships from the skies and causing them to crash into the hard ground. It was a draining effort, and one he would not risk recreating as there would be much need of his strength throughout this battle.

Shortly after, his senses were assaulted by the arrival of another. A blackened soul, a creature of doom, of death, and of despair. He was coming, with the intent to bring ruin upon his enemies. Determination settled upon Thurion's face as he decided to draw him out. His mind sought not to penetrate - it was a well-known fact that the Epicanthix cannot be impacted by intrusions of the mind - but merely to prod, to catch his attention. Like the tip of a finger tapping him on the forehead.

"Come, Lord Braxus. We have unfinished business."

The young Padawan had followed after Grandmaster Kitra and the little group that had amassed around her to the hangar. He could feel it was almost time for a fight as he glanced up at the skies. Something was amiss... He clenched his fists when he heard the comms speaking of civilian settlements being damaged and even casualties... The enemy's unusual plan was having an effect. Were these loathsome "people", if he could even call them that, satisfied? Probably not. Nothing could satisfy their thirst for blood. A tranquil fury lingered inside of Doug's mind, but he kept it down. Getting openly angry would do him no good.

It seemed his gut feeling was confirmed further when it turned out that the enemies were passing through the shield gate. He felt a cold feeling around him when he heard this. He looked towards the Grandmaster to see what she had to say. He had been in a warzone before, but the impending feeling of a fight still sent a chill up his spine. Doug took a few deep breaths to ease his mind. There were plenty of Jedi and other sorts of personnel around the area so they had good defenses ready for when the time came...

The group were met by Kaiza Pawaro, another Padawan that Doug had seen a few times before. He normally had seen her looking rather chipper, but now... She had a rather serious look on her face. It made sense given the circumstances compared to the other times.

Doug's expression glazed over slightly, his icy eyes now having a battle ready look to them. The Force was with them and as the Grandmaster said, it was almost time to battle. "I'm ready as well..." He said in that familiar semi-quiet tone of voice, his hands lightly resting on his sides. He looked towards his Master, Josh DragonsFlame, and let out a brief smirk. Together, they all would surely put up a fair fight.

As time passes, Kal and his group were getting closer and closer to their destination. He could not help but feel a little nervous, there was no telling how long that gate will hold and how much time he will have to set up this ambush, in war everything resumes to strategy and morale, if this works, it may prove a good blow to the enemy. If it doesn't... Lives lost, soldiers lost... This is where jedi teachings actually come in handy, he may not be able to brush off the thoughts and worries completely but at least he could push them aside for the time being.

"...right?" A voice caught his attention. He looked to his side at one of the rangers riding a hornett then forward again

"Say that again, please?"

"These people... They are the same ones who attacked before, aren't they?" The ranger asked seeming convinced, but Kal would not be, he'd never be. It's simply not how he does things.

"Could be, not for me to say, it's been confirmed we're under attack, by whom it doesn't matter." From a strategical viewpoint it mattered, but morale mattered too so it was for the best to try and keep it at a high level.

"Whoever they are, whatever they seek, this is our home, they will find only death."

"So be it, then... I don't want to give anything else." the ranger replied then fell into silence, the same silence that surrounded the entire group, this wasn't all that uncommon in such moments. The silence before the rain of fire, a horrific terror.

Elijah had thought the Ossus had escaped the worst of the meteor shower from the combined efforts of himself and the forces on the hemisphere facing the First Order, but he was proven wrong as a massive asteroid was detected barreling straight for Med-Beq's formation. Other asteroids had breached the gates and shields to smash into several settlements on the surface, resulting in the death of tens of thousands of civilians.

By this time, the Sowa had now discovered the source of the rogue shower. The asteroids were somehow being towed and accelerated by ships interspersed within the fields. Their profiles and drive signatures matched up with models in the SJO databanks known to be fielded by the First Order, produced completely in-house by state-owned manufacturers.

Shortly thereafter, Elijah could hear Med-Beq's alert about the attackers being First Order, and Grandmaster's Kitra's distress call about the whole planet now being under attack.

"Those bastards..." he muttered under his breath as he took in the information, a shocking revelation.

(Decent) Militaries had shied away from the effective but crude tactic of the asteroid flinging because of the indiscriminate nature of the attack that usually resulted in massive collateral damage. Modern warfare was as much a contest of managing public opinion as it was about besting opponents in a strict combat sense. The hearts and minds of the public weren't won by leveling cities and slaughtering innocents.

"General Med-Beq, I'm bringing the Bahamut in for intercept. Standby!" Elijah's stomach began turning knots as he prepared to make his orders. This wasn't going to be pleasant.

<Subutai, micro-jump us on a trajectory that will allow us to deflect the largest asteroid into the planetary shield. Then prepare to unload everything on that damn thing after we jump.>

While interdictors were active, the Bahamut was far enough away from them to initiate a jump, and its HIMS would prevent it from being pulled into any undesired location.

<Roger, calculating jump now.>

<All groups, condition red! The rest of Roosevelt head straight for the enemy formation on a flanking route and distract them so they can't fling any more frakking asteroids. Jefferson, disperse and loop around the formation's rear. We'll wipe them with a multi vector attack.>

Roosevelt group diverted, racing right for the First Order formation at full combat speed, starfighters streaming out of hangars in advance of combat. As they approached, they began to fire upon every FO vessel along the closest flank before them.

Roosevelt was currently out of range to deal any serious damage to Imperials, but that wasn't the point. Their aim was disruption of the asteroid hauling and providing a distraction for the stealthy ships of Jefferson group to move into position for the coming strike. Jefferson group had all their stealth systems engaged, including GAMs to prevent the usual detection of stealthy vessels via mass detectors.

<Astrogation solution acquired. At your command.>

Elijah took a deep breath, staring at the readouts for what seemed like an eternity in his mind. His next words would likely send hundreds or thousands to their death, and maybe cost him the whole ship.

<...jump.>

The feeds of space and the beautiful vista of Ossus disappeared for a few moments, briefly replaced by the scene of blue tinged shafts of light of hyperspace. Ossus returned to view again as quickly as it had left, alert icons appearing all over the overlay from hundreds of impending collisions from the asteroids chucked by the First Order, and the from Elijah's own allies as he had crossed into their line of fire.

Bahamut began to fire upon the monster asteroid as it automatically intensified its starboard shielding and anti-concussion fields for the impending collision. The near face of the asteroid was wiped from the face of existence in an explosion of gamma rays as thousands of positron bolts found their mark inducing matter-antimatter annihilation upon impact. The Deimos were by far the most effective weapons out there for the task.

A good chunk of the asteroid had been destroyed, and it had been deflected somewhat from its original course but that still wasn't nearly enough for Elijah to abort his maneuver.

"All hands, brace for impact!" Elijah called over internal comms as he gripped the arms of his command seat.

5 seconds...4 seconds...3...2..1

Bahamut crashed against the incoming asteroid along its side, firing into the asteroid all the while with guns and launchers. The middle third of its starboard side deformed inward from impact, instantly killing the thousands of crewmen and marines stationed in the affected sections. Elsewhere on the ship, people tumbled against walls and ceilings, compensator fields unable to cope with the impact of that magnitude. Elijah's seat rocked madly, and he would have been thrown off if he hadn't already been strapped down. All around him, he could hear the terrible screeches and groans of twisting metal.

It was only because of shields, composite armors, anti-concussion fields that the Bahamut wasn't completely totaled, a testament to its awesome defensive capabilities. There was nothing out there quite like the Tenchu.

After a few moments, the ship lost its bite on the asteroid and then parted with a terrible grind, shearing away a good portion of the Bahamut's hull. Hundreds of bodies of the living and the dead alike were sucked out into the breaches along the side of the ship until emergency bulkheads sealed shut, many shredded apart by the tons of metals and composites now flying away from the ruined battlecruiser. Following the bodies would be a swarm of rescued pods launched from the Bahumut, aiming to capture all survivors drifting through space.

Bahamut continued to fire at the asteroid with its remaining emplacements, which by now had been successfully deflected off course into the shield. The power of the planetary grade shielding should have been enough to vaporize whatever chunks remained to the asteroid, but who really knew. At the same time, Bahamut took the initiative, firing volleys of Genies and diamond boron missiles at the smaller asteroids.

<Subutai...report.>

<The asteroid has been deflected, and I have engaged in successive strikes against the remaining ones. Large-scale breaches on starboard decks A-6 through D-7. I estimate 4,500 casualties from the collision. About 65% of all starboard emplacements and maneuvering engines have been rendered inoperable. My main gun has been knocked out of alignment and will require spot maintenance to be usable again.>

The news was crushing to an Admiral that cared deeply for those under his command, but it was a necessary sacrifice to save the millions down below on Ossus.

<Very well...continue attacks and rotate our damaged side away from the First Order formation. Get me an open channel, too. I need to say something to our fascist friends.>

<Rotating now. The line is now open.>

Elijah gritted his teeth, then began speaking with a greatly strained tone. "Attention all First Order vessels, this is Admiral King of the Silver's Seventh Fleet. I don't know what the hell crawled up all your arses and made you come up to Ossus, but for Ashla's sake stop it with the asteroids! Do you understand what happens if any of those are allowed to impact the surface? You all like to masquerade as being decent, yet you do things like this? Why do you all cry over Kaeshana when you've probably just killed more civilians here than the GADF ever did there? You sully the memory of your compatriots with this gross display of hypocrisy."

While they were enemies for some strange reason, even after the SJO had offered a hand peace between the two powers, he hoped that he could appeal to any shred of decency the FO commanders may have left. More than other Imperials, the First Order seemed to care about the image it projected. Thus far the FO had played the victim card fairly well against the GA after a whole host of military fiascos, but that narrative was being shattered right here at Ossus as the FO had devolved to using the tactics of the very Sith they had denounced at Panatha.

Elijah was quickly coming to the conclusion that the only good Imperial was a dead one. Whether by their own volition or through his intervention, the First Order would be made to cease all attacks.

The Crestfallen set itself down, the snow parting beneath the ship and completely dissipating into nothingness. Similar to how the Jedi would dissipate from the galaxy once this entire operation that was taking place between the various armies of the dark had finished with them.

He turned out of the cockpit making his way down the corridor, before exiting the back of the vessel. He would be accompanied by his comrades, family and his personal bloodguard. Two members would follow shortly behind him. His cloak dragged behind him as he made his way through the canyon. He would stop and wait, seeking out Darth Carnifex, his cousin approaching him and speaking up. "What is the plan, then?" He said, with a dip of his head following afterward showing his respect for the Dark Lord. He would glance to the opening, which would lead into The Great Library.

A soft smile filled his face, as he did.

War came to Ossus.

Through the chaos of battle a lone shadow sliced down from the atmosphere a ship whose hull was black as night. It sliced under and over dogfights between courageous warriors of the Silver Jedi and determined First Order raiders. The ship ducked between bright plumes of energy and bobbed past missiles from anti air fire that came from Aegis Base. But unlike all other ships this one wasn't only a designated friendly. This ship didn't just flag as a First Order shuttle. When it was scanned...

This ship flagged as House Zambrano.

The Eye of Solomon flashed on screens of those who scanned it, the telltale symbol of that black family of butchers. Deep within the darkness of this shuttle amidst a full complement of Crownguard sat Darth Prazutis; Shadow Hand of the Dark Lord. The "former" Arch-Prince of the Pacanth Reach sat cross legged on the floor of the shuttle in complete silence as his vast consciousness reached out over the world of Ossus. The Lord of Death drank in the raw terror, he bathed in the echoes of the dead and dying on both sides Silver and First Order alike. In the mind of the Destroyer their final moments played out like a pleasing cinema as Starfighters burst into plumes of fire.

In their last moments the pilots screamed when the flames consumed their bodies he could feel the crackling of burning flesh, he could hear their agony echo. The last fleeting moments before death claimed them were so precious, he fed on these horrifying emotions like a glutton on food. Death came for all it didn't discriminate between factions or species, it claimed everyone in the end. But amidst his tranquility came a bright beacon of light. A lone soul with the purity of an angel and the courage of a lion. A lone warrior of justice, freedom, who stood for everything that turned the Zambrano's stomach. When the touch came like two fingers prodding against his forehead, he felt a cold icy breeze. Its taunting words ringing in the air.

Thurion Heavenshield.

"Bring me down to the temple's highest point." Darth Prazutis ordered calmly.

In an instant the pilots reacted the shuttle twisting and turning as it closed in on the shielding surrounding the base. The shuttles shield disruptors punched a temporary hole in the great shield letting it slice through as it closed in on the empty, flat roof of the base. The area was empty with the exception of one lone warrior waiting in its center staring down the dark storm he challenged. The lone shuttle touched down with a gentle thud, the hiss of air ringing out as the ramp descended revealing a single Dark Titan. What spilled from within was as equally horrifying as the being itself a storm of wailing, agonized trapped souls screeching in pain as they relived the moments of their torturous deaths every moment.

A low growl rumbled from the Sith Lord as he stepped down onto the roof of the base, his molten eyes fixed on the lone Jedi. "Heavenshield. So you have chosen Ossus to be the place you die. There will be no running today the light dies." Darth Prazutis said as he drew the dreaded runeblade Daesumnor from its sheath charging forward. "I shall claim your soul Thurion. I'll show your severed head to your wife when Midvinter burns. We are coming." The Sith Lord broke out into a leap as he crashed down upon him bringing a storm of dark steel.

Arisa screwed in the last bolt to finally secure B-wing cockpit's primary gyrostabilizer with her hydrospanner, then collapsed right into cockpit's bucket seat with a contented sigh. Sweat beaded down her temples, the result of several hours worth of steady work repairing the busted cockpit. B-wings were beasts in space combat in terms of the firepower each one could bring to bear, but they were difficult to operate and an absolute nightmare to maintain due to their complex frame. She would personally take a Y-Wing over these any day.

After a quick breather, she set down the hydrospanner and switched the parked B-wing on standby mode to test out the repaired gyros. Working the yoke and pedals, the cockpit responded well to her inputs with no errors reported by the onboard computer.

So that was one B-wing down. Only three more, each with their own set of unique issues. That was now her life in the Rebel Alliance, a far cry from working with nothing but bleeding edge ships in the Silver fleet. Not that she minded, she enjoyed the work as a form of active meditation. There were a lot of problems the former Grandmaster wanted to forget while down in the hangars.

Deciding to take an extended break, she leaned back into the seat and curled up her legs to get comfortable as she pulled out her handset for some rhythm games. She was able to enjoy about 15 minutes of mindless entertainment before her phone vibrated, a priority notification popping up over game screen. It was Colonel Veena, the base commander of Dunscaith.

With a quizzical expression, she straightened up in the seat before taking the call. "This is Yune, what's up?"

"General," Veena greeted, "Ossus is under attack, as well as the nearby Belderone system. It's the First Order."

Arisa's eyes fluttered in disbelief, looking like the wind just got knocked out of her. "Come again? The First Order?"

"Their Grand Admiral literally just announced his presence in the Belderone system. The Silver battlegroup in system relayed the message to us over biocomm. You can come see it yourself if you don't believe me."

"No...I believe you. I'll be up there in a minute."

She ended the call, then dropped her head in resignation. Natasi Fortan, another name to add to the list of liars, which included the likes of Aedan Miles and Adron Malvern. Against her instincts she tried to do the right thing and give these people the benefit of the doubt according to Jedi values, only to have them exploit her later for their own ends.

In Natasi's case, she had let the woman visit her home world of Galidraan without incident, and had offered a path to normalizing relations which would have benefited both parties with a wealth of new trade opportunities. Now they were back to square one as the First Order refused to get over its grudge of the Silvers ruining its otherwise sterling military record at Skor. How much more blood and treasure would be lost because of the pettiness of the small minded imperials? She didn't know, but at this point, she didn't care. The General was done with diplomacy, about to engage in the universal language of violence to get her point across. That was, to get the frak out of Silver Space.

A quick briefing from Veena and her own review of real time reports from the Rangers helped get Arisa spun up for a plan of action.

"Even assuming the First Order has a staging area in GE space, they can't sustain this assault with such a horrid logistical situation. Once their naval assets are knocked out, anyone they've deployed to the ground will be stranded."

"Their victory over the Galactic Alliance has made them arrogant," Veena observed.

"No doubt about that," Arisa agreed, "though Tregressar isn't a fool. He understands the situation as well as I do. There's definitely something else going on here. Psyops probably, strangely. In any case, I have no choice but to engage him at Belderone. Med-Beq and King should be fine on their own against the FO battlegroup there, and I trust our folks on the ground."

On a personal level, she hated not being there for Valae in person during her time of need, but she had to place her duties above her personal desires.

"What about Kulthis? There were attacks reported on the surface."

"I'm sure the locals have security and military forces on the ground. However, I can slip a strike team under the First Order's noses while I engage them. Notify all the Rangers and Jedi here to kit up for Kulthis. I need to make a call."

"Yes, ma'am." Veena saluted, then left to muster ground teams and the Rebel fleet in the region while Arisa contacted her Resistance counterparts in the south. The First Order weren't the only ones that could raid.

"General Gibson, hello."

Eri'anya Forr paced back and forth, skirting the training area as her students went through the regimen she had provided. Despite the beating a few of them had taken, there was no denying the quality of their training and skill. Each and every one of them had a solid foundation, and the Jedi Knight had only needed to make a few alterations to an otherwise stable baseline. They were ready and eager to learn, hungry for the chance to properly test themselves against a deserving foe. Their enthusiasm caused the Jedi to swell with pride.

"Switch up!"

It was at this moment that base's intercom system keyed on, drawing the attention of the room as Colonel Veena made a report. She spoke of an ongoing attack on Ossus and Belderone, a prospect that caused an interested roar to build up among the trainees. With a wave of her hand, Eri silenced the commotion, focusing intently up at the droning voice from above.

According to Veena, it was the First Order that was attacking them now. They were a fanatical theocracy with a militaristic streak, but Eri had never had the displeasure of dealing with their kind before. Now the faction had decided to attack her friends, however, and their politics truly didn't matter anymore. These people wouldn't have to waste time explaining their actions, it was pure survival to hit back when struck. It was time to fight again.

Eri'anya and her students were dressed and ready in short order, a couple of them sporting bacta patches under their clothes, but more than ready to roll. One of the younger boys was beginning to show his nerves, but a gentle squeeze of his bicep from the Jedi he squared his jaw and regained his footing. Everyone was fit for combat, the newest unit of battle-readies walking into the fire to tear down the tyrants. They could do this, Eri would stake her life on it.

Wasting no more time, the group filed away onto the Assault Frigate, finding their places as the tiny Jedi brought up the rear. Checking her equipment and robes as she moved, Eri'anya briefly checked with the pilot to get a fix on the situation. It bothered her that they were going to Belderone instead of Ossus, as several people she was familiar with were down there. However, the situation called for her help elsewhere, so she spent no more time finding her seat. Arisa Yune had never given the Jedi Knight a reason to doubt her, and she had no reason to start now.

Not when rabid animals needed putting down.

Kyrel kept up his assault upon the enemy, as he spent minutes protecting capital ships in a similar way when he provided escort to the Imperial Science Expedition to Kaeshana. He focused on fighters and just that as he had no desire to attack the enemy capital ships, his main focus was trying to get to the planet, he spun the ship towards a squadron realising a volley of green blasts at them, feeding off their pain and fear as he pushed through gaining strength from their deaths, he turned and decided to move towards the nearest Shield Gate.
He was heading towards a shield gate, his fierce determination to get to the planet to carry out his mission, almost unrelenting, but he was faced with an obstacle. He needed to get past the shield itself, the Furious unfortunately was not equipped with shield disruptors so he would have no way to get through, and the thought sent his rage climbing but then came up with an Idea upon seeing a squadron of TIE/SF Conquerors flying next to him, he grinned upon seeing the fighters, a fighter that he designed as an inspiration to the TIE Striker and TIE Interceptor of old it had just enough firepower to pull off what he planned to do. He reached out with the Force and grabbed a hold of the pilots' minds. Forcing his will upon them he commanded them to form up on him. He then instructed them to fire the concussion missiles along with the Ion cannons. His idea was using enough firepower on one area of the shield would poke a small hole for him to get through.
They did as they were instructed, missiles and ion blasts fired at the shield where Kyrel was heading, some blasts didn't phase through the shield but the more the squadron kept pressing into it, Kyrel finally noticed a sign that a small hole was forming, he accelerated the Furious as fast as he could go straight for the shield when the hole finally formed, unfortunately, a couple conquerors were taken out by the Jedi fighters and so Kyrel released them as he now finally had his opening. Within minutes the craft reached the small hole and barely made it through before it closed, excited that he had now breached the shield gate, he set course for the planet going through its atmosphere with a new sense of purpose.
As the craft entered the atmosphere Kyrel looked upon the Vong formed surface and decided to fly low to avoid AA guns of any kind. He had finally reached the surface and now he was going to make sure the Jedi pay for their meddling in the war with Galactic Alliance at Skor II.Not only that he would show to them that the Ren was strong and not to be made lightly, he would finally be able to kill Jedi once again which he took great pride in knowing that the light side would ultimately fail on this day and once more the dark side would show that it is indeed stronger.
He was careful in flying the craft, and was able to spot the enclave below, he then saw a clearing not far from the enclave on which he decided to land, the landing gear activated the craft was able to be set down with ease as Kyrel stepped out to look upon the world, he did not care for the wildlife.. No that wasn't the objective the objective was to make sure the Jedi fell this day. He decided to walk but not before speaking to Varas. "Careful child... These Jedi will not hesitate to kill you so do not show them any mercy. We are strong together so stay close to me... Our mission depends on it." And with that, he set out towards the enclave, but not before transmitting a slight hint of his dark signature to the Jedi, before masking it as he made his way towards the enclave prepared to carry out the Supreme Leader's will and to make sure that the Jedi would pay for what they have done. This was the day of reckoning that had come at long last for the Silver Jedi Order

It was difficult to keep from looking up. Explosions around the beleaguered shield gate, fighters and corvettes dotting the sky and asteroids hurtling in towards the planet - what was happening up there was so far away and incongruous to the soft crunch-pat-crunch of their footsteps on the mountain path that Setzi could almost separate herself emotionally from the display of warfare and see it for what it was worth. A beautiful testament to the determination of tyranny.

But soon enough the quiet of the mountain path turned ominous as the Rogue Knight felt the nearby presence of a powerful darksider. She knelt to the ground and using Force Sight, focused her mind’s eye onto the surface of the largest crag itself and eventually through it. Great concentration was required, but she found the image she was looking for, a tall figure with dark troopers making their way towards the Base.

As she rose up and continued to walk forward, she had a strange deja-vu feeling. No, she did not know this figure and even as she felt his sable aura clash with her radiant one, Setzi felt distinctly as though she’d encountered him before. A flutter of nerves were calmed with one deep, long breath.

Despite the jarring sensation that past, present and dreams were colliding, the lost Lunelle sister was ready.

The Sith Lord's shuttles had landed high in the mountain pass, if, the mangled and damaged ship was to be considered a 'landing.'

"My Lord, we've lost the vast majority of the Legion," one of the junior officers on his shuttle notified him, to which the masked figure twisted his head around to offer a nod. An unfortunate circumstance, yet, necessary to get to the planet below. Above, the shield gate was likely soon to close again, but his purpose was to slow reinforcements to space as his subordinates in the Navy brought down the shield gates orbiting the planet.

The Light Side of the Force practically permeated off the earth, and it sickened him. A hand lowered to his waist, gently caressing the hydrastaff that linked around his waist. A faithful companion, and an even more dangerous killing machine. It was something the Yuuzhan Vong did well, and their weapons were oft brought into combat with him. He hummed as he heard a whine from above, and watched as DOKAWs that made it through the shield gate descended to the Mountain Base, Aegis.

Where [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] had believed the durasteel rods were heading for Aegis Proper, the DOKAWs were in fact heading straight into the mountains surrounding the Silver Jedi base rather than directly into it, and its shield generator, active or not. At such force and velocities, these rods would've undoubtedly created violent explosions, their kinetic force akin to concussive power as mountaintops shook. The existence of Antarian Rangers was not yet discovered, though, the calm before the storm had ended, and the storm had come - Multiple times over.

Descending from his vantage point, the armoured form slid down the mountain face for a handful of metres at a time, his forces following where they could, and where they couldn't grapple hooks were employed as they descended on the military base. Above them, was a ship non-moving above them, for whatever reason, yet it was a large target, and was an excellent source for a morale boost. A'sharad's cybernetic arm rose as he pointed up to it, "Rockets - How many?" The same junior officer from earlier had stuck to his side it seemed, and he got the same, unsure answer, but confidence was the basis from which he gave his answer.

"Reportedly we have a battalion's worth less than a Regiment," the officer said before going on to say, "Should have..." A pause. Evidently, the inquiry was being transferred through the comm channel of the Forsworn. "Two hundred and fifty, exact."

"We'll bring down that ship - Engines are primary targets. Its entire underside will be breached with one volley, undoubtedly." The underside of the ship would be threatened by a cooperation of both dumb-fired rockets (by those legionnaires that were directly underneath the SSV Lumen, and those who merely had the confidence to hit the engines from their angle. Those who didn't, which was undoubtedly most, the Legion overall tended to follow orders, especially when given by their Supreme Commander, fired guided missiles. Even though the distance wasn't as large as one would typically find in Space engagements, the underside was undoubtedly an unexpected angle of attack, to which the young Graush hoped for a delayed response in movement, or activation of shields, for why have them active if there was no 'threat?' Regardless, many of the missiles were guided, and five hundred rockets sought to put an end to this sensor ship. The Silver Officer who had ordered the placement of said ship would be in for a rude awakening ([member="Jessica Med-Beq"]) who had put said ship in place.

But while those rockets were lined up and fired, A'sharad's gaze was drawn elsewhere, specifically in the direction of [member="Setzi Lunelle"] who after stepping past a jutting rock, he could see directly. "Take up positions," the Sith Lord rasped. "Rain fire on those who seek to expel us from their planet! Slaughter the Jidai!" His right hand rose into the air, silver hilt in hand before a crimson beam extended from its hilt and he leapt at his enemy.

CO: Commander Gerhard Maxim | XO: Lieutenant Victor Raza

Alert Level: Red
What had happened over the course of the last several minutes had been not wholly unexpected, though it did change the layout of the battlefield significantly. Ground forces had begun to punch through the shields, asteroids littered the backdrop of space. Already turbolaser fire had begun erupting along the line of rapidly advancing space debris, TIE's dodging in and out between the larger chunks. Maxim could see from the tactical readouts that they had already begun taking losses - that was to be expected. It wasn't every day the fleet rode in on the backs of asteroids, in fact it was something that hadn't been tried before by the First Order's Navy - likely something that would never happen again. Even so, the Commander's features were painted with a grin.

"Gun crews fire at will. Helm, take us to port - I want us headed off the main tack, get us to another gate."
His commands were echoed quickly by Lieutenant Raza, his voice carrying throughout the ship as the crew put mind to action. Like a hive mind the crew beat their bodies into submission to their commander's will. With one spirit they moved towards their goal, executing orders with the precision of a veteran crew. These were the men and women of the First Order Navy, furthermore Commander Maxim's crew. They knew full well exactly what the cost of failure was. Maxim himself eyeballed the readouts displayed in front of him, mind racing. Already the largest of the asteroids with which they'd traversed behind had been broken up, hunks of molten rock now sailing for the enemy fleet as well as the surface. The smaller one they had sent sailing forwards had been obliterated, several flights of starfighters evaporated as the large bulks ate through their shields without so much as a second thought.

Even as the small strike force began to peel off from the main group, Maxim could see the trailing arcs of the HVC's the enemy was employing cut across his vision. There was another group, hiding behind the planet. It was a solid tactic, one that kept them well outside the range of the First Order's vessels but yet enabled them to participate, hammering the asteroids and creating an alley of danger. Dangerous enough that to put any vessels larger than a starfighter in the path would most undoubtedly result in the loss of the vessel. It may not have been the enemy fleet's intent but they had effectively cut off Commander Maxim from the shield. At least until they cut short and re-adjusted.

Now the small strike force diverted, the two Frigates taking point, flanked on their sides by the two corvettes, scanning for any incoming fighters. They would reach the shield gate in several minutes should they go unmolested, participating in such a large scale engagement as was taking place in their present location would be folly.

Summary:
  • Received Minor Shield Damage From Asteroid Fragments
  • Began Diverting Course from Main Engagement Zone
  • Redirected Towards Alternate Shield Gate
  • Detected Several Enemy Fleet Locations
Intent:
  • Navigate Towards Alternate Gate
  • Avoid HVC Fire From Enemy Postion on Other Side of Planet
  • Avoid Sustaining Further Asteroid Damage

Roona pushed out an exasperated sigh and rubbed the side of her forehead. She watched as the men and women under her instruction squeezed the triggers of their rifles. Each student was belly down on the ground, firing from the top of a hill – their targets far in the distance. Bringing her pair of macrobinoculars to her eyes, she inspected their hits. Very few had actually hit the small targets set out for them, but many had come close. At least it was an improvement.

Still, these soldiers desperately needed practice.

“You are getting better,” The Ysannan woman announced, “Let us take a break now.”

As she straightened up, she motioned for her students to join her. Together they would head back to the base. When they arrived, the area was in motion. There were reports coming in, and words spoken by Colonel Veena. Roona’s brow knitted together as she listened. The First Order had come to Silver space? It was far from anything she had expected. And when she heard that the enemy troops had set foot on Ossus, she felt a flash of rage.

“Ossus. No, no, no…” Roona muttered in a low tone, “I must go--”

However, she then learned that her destination was Belderone. Her gloved hands curled into fists, and she shoved her helmet into the crook of her arm. Roona uttered a few choice words under her breath, Ysannan curse words that few here would know. Ossus was her home-world – her people were the guardians of the planet. It was not right that she was away at a time like this. Her eyebrow twitched irritably. Orders were orders; there was little she could do to argue. And so, she began to file into the assault frigate behind the others.

“This is bad.” Roona muttered, “Very bad.”

Lips curling up in a slightly exasperated smile, she followed onto the ship without hesitation as she spoke, laying to rest any question as to her participation in the assault on Ossus.

”Yet for this, I am a Ren first and foremost.”

If a hint of sadness hung in the tone of the words, in would be due in large part to her official resignation that was to be in effect the moment they had secured control of the planet far below, this final mission her legacy to the Ren. There were plans in motion, as there always were, partially crafted by herself in conjunction with Master of Ren, [member="Samka Derith"] , and partially out of necessity. Ara herself was too well known in some circles, her face and aura recognisable, and now her name, public for the sake of furthering the goals and machinations of the First Order, destroying any use she had to the shadowy order.

And yet, none of the anger one would expect burned in her eyes. Fierce determination dominated, the tone of her words the only indication that the pronouncement meant anything to the Knight. Flashing a knowing smile in the direction of her friend and confidant, she settled into one of the seats on the far end of the cockpit. Yes, there were always plans in motion.

And now the waiting.

The exorbitant amount of waiting on this mission already had her nerves frazzled to the point of needless talking of nails on the smooth dome of her helmet, still resting on her lap instead of secured on her person, her least favorite portion of the outfit the Ren required of her. Unsure how much time had passed, they sat, the engine if the corvette humming around them, the static of the comm system broken up periodically as orders and statuses of the ships surrounding them were reported, the whole of the First Order Fleet awaiting the moment for their ruse to succeed and the shields protecting the planet to fail.

::FIV Respite reporting. Defense grid is damaged and weakening. Strike teams prepare for re-entry.::
”Panatha One deploying immediately. Stand clear.” Delengtha Ren replied without delay, the ship coming to life beneath them in tandem to his response.

Emerald eyes, previously closed while she meditated to pass the time and sate the rising bloodlust within, flashed open, fastening on the man across from her with an unamused head tilt as she registered the radio name of their craft. One eyebrow quirked up as she eyed him, any cutting remark stymied by the motion of their ship taking off, displeasure quickly melting into anticipation as their descent was finally under way.

Squadrons of TIE fighters screamed past as strike teams and DOKAWs headed towards the shield gates covering the surface of the planet, focused fire and chunks of space rock tearing holes into the magnetic fields. The beautiful disruption of the defensive measures brought a smile to her lips as they hurried towards once such rip, any fear and anxiety buried behind the mask of adrenaline their descent pulled to the forefront of her emotions. Their ship slipped through the opening with little more than exacerbated turbulence, the fighters following them taking the brunt of artillery fire, small explosions lighting up the sky around them as the greenery of Ossus dominated their viewport.

”Sir?”

Delengtha Ren turned slightly, his attention on the Senior Knight as they continued their rapid landing sequence, the shuttle buffeted to and fro by the force of their travel. The words he’d spoken before, a request for orders regarding the asteroid they'd followed into the atmosphere finally registering as reports of more destruction by the hunks of falling rocks echoed over the FO comm units.

Eyes narrowed as she watched a hail of asteroid debris rain down in the surface of Ossus, destruction created by their own ships seeking to obliterate them before the Shield gates could be destroyed, instead turned on their people in a quantity that could not be prevented. She cared not for the lives of those below, her first inclination was to leave the rock to it's path, the well being of the inhabitants of Ossus not a priority to the Ren. Precious seconds passed while she debated, a sigh of indifference pulled from her lips as she finally settled the helmet on her head with a hiss and the click of clasps securing the mask to the rest of her armour in preparation for their ultimate landing.

”Destroy it.”

"I understand, Master S'hadar. I am the same way - I've never been one for starfighters." he turned, smiling to him. Darren looked to the doors as they slid open, watching Prince Organa enter. "Ah, your highness. I've been anticipating your arrival. I've been told you may have some information on what is going on here."

"You and I both know that these asteroids aren't natural. Someone's doing this. I need you to tell me wh-..." the man was interrupted by a transmission over their comms. It projected across the room, filling it so all could here it clear as day.

"Aegis Actual. Ossus' planetary shields have been breached - I repeat - Ossus' planetary shields have been breached. Landing craft are currently heading your way - we can no longer help you. Good luck, Lieutennant-Commander. Everyone retreat - head for the escape po-..." the transmission was cut off by static. The man ran to the window, looking up to the skies to see hundreds of landing craft emerging through the planetary shields.

"No... How the hell... Aim all AA devices at their landing craft - take down as many as possible!" the man walked with urgency across the room towards the exit, signalling for the Jedi Masters to follow him, "Miller, you're in charge until I return. Frederickson, McNulley, you're with me. Follow me, Masters."

Darren led the group through the corridors of Aegis base. Past the armoury, the labs, the dormitories. The base was well equipped - possibly the most in-tact facility on Ossus' surface after all of the destruction and havoc. It was extremely dim, though, for reasons unbeknown to most - in truth one of the generators was not working and so all of their energy was redirected to their defences.

The group emerged from the base's main building, onto the main platform. Rangers were scattered, racing everywhere to get to their posts. They had to be prepared - for these forces were some of the most fierce they had encountered in a while. At this point hundreds - possibly thousands of enemy troops would be departing from their shuttles onto Ossus' surface. But the Rangers had the high ground, Aegis - as well as something even more important. Hope.

Shuttles feel from the sky - Aegis' Anti-Air defences were working to a degree - but it wasn't enough. They had too many - the Rangers had to rely on manpower to win the day.

Suddenly, a pitch black shuttle broke through Aegis' mushroom shield. But how...?

Darren looked to the hulking shuttle - drawing his ripper from his side and shooting at it's hull. But it was to no avail. It was simply too strong. What the hell was it doing? It simply ignored the fire from the Lieutennant-Commander's men and landed straight on a building. On the building stood a familiar face. Thurion Heavenshield.

Darren had never met the man in person - but he had heard stories. He was a great man - a strong man. Master Heavenshield could handle himself, there was no doubt about it. So Darren knew he needed no help - not unless he called for it. What they could do - however - was direct fire at the ship.

"Follow me! Prepare some AB-RTs are direct your fire just below that shuttle. If we can hit the building, we can collapse the wall just enough for the shuttle to go with it. It'll fall of the edge and that Sith bugger will be left without his ticket off Ossus. Go!" The group sprinted towards the hangar in which four AB-RTs were waiting for them.

"Time to take action boys!"

Captain Banning beamed as the Lucrehulk’s hull, some weapons and some hypervelocity batteries had been damaged in the atypical assault. In retaliation, the SJO supercarrier fired back with concussion missiles, causing a flurry of quiet alarms to wail on the Polaris, each crewman or woman locking into place for evasive maneuvers.

“We’re taking damage,” said Commander Morro.

“How much so far?”

“Thirty to forty percent on the shields with the Gypsy faring the worst at 80% damage. The Vengeance and the Audacity were too close to each other. Otherwise they may have been able to outrun the missiles.”

“Don’t let that happen again," barked Captain Banning.

Her blue lips turned downward into a tense line. She tried to pretend that his steely countenance had to do with the impending strain of the engagement, but Morro could not help thinking that the human male had grown frustrated with her especially after the night at the Imperial March. He’d never snapped like that before, not even above Rakata Prime. And as certain as she was that fraternization between officers was a terrible distraction, her thoughts drifted momentarily to Admiral Rausgeber.

The Chiss officer's reverie was interrupted by a transmission by Admiral King of the Silver Jedi Fleet:

"Attention all First Order vessels, this is Admiral King of the Silver's Seventh Fleet. I don't know what the hell crawled up all your arses and made you come up to Ossus, but for Ashla's sake stop it with the asteroids! Do you understand what happens if any of those are allowed to impact the surface? You all like to masquerade as being decent, yet you do things like this? Why do you all cry over Kaeshana when you've probably just killed more civilians here than the GADF ever did there? You sully the memory of your compatriots with this gross display of hypocrisy."

Morro's luminous red eyes blinked, no emotion registering upon her handsome features.

“Self righteous fools. All of them,” grumbled Banning.

The Commander could have felt conflicted but her blind loyalty to her fellow serviceman and her intrepid Admiral countered the missive’s wheelding emotion, and instead, the Chiss in Cheunh-accented Basic shouted, “Another pass at the Lucrehulk. This time with full fire from cannons and turbolasers!” As though a group of birds mobbing a much larger predator, Morro’s fleet accelerated in loose assault formation and began to fire at will at the SJO supercarrier.

Objective: Lay Ambush Escape Mountain Pass
Forces: 50 rangers (60 - 10 dead during the initial assault), 10 hornetts, 6 AB-RTs

Finally, he could see their destination. Kal and his group reached Mountain pass, entering it, the other soldiers stood at attention, seeming ready for action. The armor, the lightsaber, the simple fact he was looking different yet traveling with the rangers would give the idea he was to command this small force. Kal left the hornett just like all other rangers. The attention was already on him and he made good use of it to gather the troops so he may explain his plan. "No time to waste on pleasantries, you may not know me, that's fine, by the order of Darren Torran I am assuming control of this force." He begun, making his voice lower and lower after the first word, he couldn't stand the echo, it gave him a feeling of insecurity...

"It is possible these people are our old visitors and will want to attack the jedi temple once more, we are going to rule out that possibility." The padawan started to point around him while explaining all while the AB-RT found their places too. "Due to the defenses it is likely the enemy will not attempt a direct land and risk to loose their forces completely, passing through Mountain Pass is inevitable, I need men on the-..."

The words stopped coming as a frown found it's place on the man's face, he looked around at the men, the metallic sound did not seem to come from them, everyone was there, where did this echo come from? As he turned around looking for the source, his eyes went wide, shock painted all over his face, it only took a second for one of the rangers to shout "Enemy troops incoming!"

But it was far too late... The enemy troops already begun firing at them as they were spreading out, Kal barely managed to dodge a hit that could've sent him to the hands of death itself. In that moment, his purple lightsaber ignited and his voice ordered "Tanks forward! Use the tanks for cover!" and in that mess the AB-RTs moved to protect the rangers who struggled to escape the rain of fire from above, Kal redirected blaster fire where he could trying to hit enemy soldiers and gain advantage... But they were simply too many. "We gotta get out of the kill zone! Move! Move!" he shouted taking cover behind the armor like the rest, the AB-RTs begun to fire at the enemy and the rangers to return fire in a desperate attempt to score as many casuallities as they could, the sounds of battle ringed in the padawan's ears, the ambush failed before it could even begin, already 10 of his rangers were laying death on the cold ground... and those who remain... Outnumbered, outgunned, the only options were to fight the enemy with their faces turned to them or with their backs...

"Unless..."

Kal clenched his teeth, there could be other ways, better ways, but none of them came to mind now, that alone rendered them useless. Without waiting anymore, he shouted towards the some of the rangers motioning to them as he spoke, 29 of the present ones begun to fall back through the pass while the ones remaining behind with the AB-RTs kept firing towards the invading force. Kal alongside 19 of those he left with mounted the hornetts. With the covering fire of the tanks and the remaining soldiers, this might work, although there was no telling for how long they will hold up.

In that chaos, Kal pulled out the comm unit, Darren gave him, there were only a few ways this could end, none of them good and for what he's about to do... He might not be forgiven. At least, a warning may yet bring him closer to repentance... For death was already breathing on his neck.

"This is Broadsword One! The enemy ambushed Mountain Pass, they are coming from above, dozens of them!"

In horror did she watch [member="Carlyle Rausgeber"] and the 6.5 km asteroid headed her way, and still pumping asteroids. And also how [member="Elijah King"] just bravely sent the Bahamut in a collision course with it, sending a few thousand crewmen to their heroic deaths in an attempt to ram the massive asteroid and save the population of Ossus below by means of diverting its course. So the residents of Ossus could But while the last volley wasn't exactly effective due to the HVCs being redirected, the long-range fire from the Menace wasn't exactly effective either, because the enemy fire was dissipated by many different asteroids. Much as their own volley has been largely ineffective. As the projectiles hitting asteroids headed towards either shield gates #2 or #3, said gates took some more damage but neither were destroyed because the asteroids headed towards them were smached into much smaller pieces: sure some hardpoints are inoperative, but the hardest-hit ship in terms of inoperative hardpoints is the Immobilizer 419. By miracle the I419's gravity well projectors are still operational even though it could no longer fire its long-range weapons. Also, several ships are reporting the loss of some point-defense hardpoints, and cracked viewports or other dents in their respective hulls. Meanwhile, the Heavenshield was down one of its massive 380mm batteries, courtesy of the FIV Gypsy and, by that same token, [member="Morro"]'s other ships. In addition, the bombers returned to ship so that they could be rearmed with different ordnance, such as those heavy Deathballs whose blast radius is larger than any one of the corvettes.

"This is Immobilizer four-one-niner, we have analyzed the gravity pulse technique used by the enemy to fling asteroids at us and we believe we can reproduce it" the captain of the Immobilizer 419 reported in.

"Now, Immobilizer 419, use the very same gravity pulse technique the enemy is using to send the asteroids back to the sender, towards Carlyle. Pump as many asteroids as possible towards him! Only once that is done will we open fire" Julie instructed the captain of the Immobilizer 419.

"Roger, roger"

"To all allied ships in range, the priority target is the enemy interdictor" she told [member="Alexandra Feanor"], [member="Elijah King"] and [member="Lily Kuhn"] in an encrypted channel.

It took a while to properly analyze exactly how the enemy went around using the gravity pulse technique using gravity projection wells, but for the first time, they finally were able to get the tennis game going with the asteroids, with the gravity field projectors on each side's interdictors being the racquets. While, of course, some of the asteroids behind them, most of which were about the size of a human/Near-Human baby's shoes or smaller even, were being accelerated towards Ossus' planetary shields, thanks to Carlyle's gravity wells being centered underneath her. These asteroids would cause the planetary shields to drain somewhat, and, from there, easily burn on their way to the surface. But it was a show of ingenuity to be able to reverse-engineer the gravity pulse technique at all. Which mostly consisted of moving the center of the artificial gravity well around, creating the illusion of a pulse. And then, the asteroids around the fleet started being moved back towards Carlyle, due to the forward gravity fields being moved forward as they were aimed into his formation; it was looking too good to be true. The tennis game with the asteroids was on indeed, she thought, while the remaining asteroids were sent back to the sender, to Carlyle. How would Carlyle like asteroids being flinged back, using the very techniques he had been using this entire time, or whatever the closest approximation was? Or was she only a diversion for some flanking unit to come crashing against Carlyle?

"All units, concentrate your short-range fire on the nearby enemy corvettes! Fire the long-range turbolasers at the enemy interdictor: we will deprive Carlyle of his racquet"

"All squadrons, attack formations, start dropping bombs on each and every enemy corvette!" Julie ordered.

Really, it didn't take that long for the ordnance technicians to load heavy Deathballs on every bomber at the fleet's disposal after they returned to ship, so the bombers were back in space due to the celerity of the hangar crews. With over 200 units capable of dropping those large bombs, it was best to perform bombing runs in waves, given the blast radius of said bombs. So, for attacking each corvette, a flight would undertake an attack pattern delta, followed by another shortly thereafter. In the meantime, over 2,000 turbolaser shots would be fired at the enemy picket squadron made up of corvettes, from a variety of ships, alongside a few more hardpoints of the proprietary heavy turbolasers, while about half as much firepower was trained at the under the forms of long-range turbolasers and ion cannons, without any projectile being fired at it because she was wary about firing those things until the enemy interdictor was brought down. However, the HVCs' traverse rates were worse than that of even the dorsal heavy turbolasers mounted on the fleet carrier, so they were largely used for firing at the remnants of the 6.5km asteroid, now hopefully moving away from the planet. So the fleet was buzzing with activity as the SJ sought to get rid of the menaces lurking in orbit.

[Ossus surface]

"Missile launch detected" the Lumen's sensor technician warned its commanding officer.

"Evasive maneuvers!" the captain of the mobile ELINT platform ordered.

Yes, the imprecision of the DOKAWs meant that some of those fired by the First Order would hit settlements in the mountains, especialy in the regions between the base and Knossa, rather than Aegis Base, killing the majority of the civilian residents along the way. By doing so, the First Order's kinetic bombardment (DOKAWs or asteroid-based) ensured that they killed more civilians on Ossus than the GADF ever did on Kaeshana. But the benefit of a planet-wide lockdown was that every military asset on the planet was placed in combat readiness mode, with shields activated. Sure, there were unguided, man-portable missiles fired at the Lumen from underneath, and yet, since the Lumen was actually flying at an altitude of 13 km above the surface, its crew, in near-perfect synchronization, was able to activate the ECM suite so that they could jam the guidance systems of the guided missiles being fired while it began evasive maneuvers, reaching higher altitudes so as to increase the available flight time and hence reaction time. Already the 40mm rippers firing canisters filled with flechette rounds were fired in the general direction where the other missiles were to be found, basically straight-down. But with 500 hand-held missiles, over half of them were guided, the real threats were the guided missiles, since the unguided missiles, ostensibly fired at its engines, narrowly missed the ship altogether, given the time it took the projectiles to fly 13 km straight up. For those missiles that somehow made it past the flechettes being fired at them, they had to meet with the Casper active protection system, with its masers and antigravity beams destroying more missiles in a last-ditch measure. Even then, what missiles could still make it past the two layers of point-defense, still managed to hit mostly shields, with some hull damage to the underside.

  • Used a gravity pulse to send back the asteroids at Carlyle
  • Fired at Morro's corvettes using both capital ship weapons and fighters
  • Fired at Carlyle's interdictor from long range using only long-range turbolasers and ion cannons
  • The Lumen started to move away from the temple's vicinity and to defend itself

At the last possible second Zodan witnessed the X-wing dip low, the rage propelled volley of fire from the Rogue-class Starfighter sailing harmlessly past the cockpit. It may have been an older model - according to the targeting computer - but it was extremely nimble. Pressing his own fighter to its limit, Zodan urged himself onward. Zipping out of the way of a few other chunks of debris, the Knight's grip tightened on the controls. His quarry was leading him on a rapid descent path, constantly making erratic movements that would throw off his targeting computer. With a frustrated growl he diverted power from his weapons to his engines. If he was to catch his prey, he'd have to keep up.

The chase continued, random bursts of fire erupting from the Ren's ship as he tried to land a hit but continued to fail.

He knew without a doubt the figure which plagued every waking moment was the one behind the controls of that X-wing. He could sense it. The presence was undeniable. Amidst the almost palpable anger he felt, a hint of curiosity ate away at his mind. Who was this strange person, and why did he have such a thirst for his blood? The Force worked in strange ways, the Dark Side ever more - perhaps it was his calling, a stone put in his path to overcome, or perhaps... a stone on which to tumble to his death. Zodan guided his fighter ever faster, the maneuverability of his vessel drastically decreasing as he closed the distance between the two ships. He was almost there - a few moments more and he would have a shot even he couldn't possibly miss.
