"Show me a Hero, and I'll write you a tragedy."
- F. Scott Fitzgerald

The lights pre-maturely flickered to life, as every grunt standing in the bay was revealed mid-exercise. As the rebels lowered their weapons in a confused state and Valkren almost moving to 'bite the head' off whomever decided to interrupt his group, Lieutenant Harris would almost come back in by a sprinting pace. Suddenly, things seemed to slow down for Valkren.

Colonel Calderon could see the urgency in Harris's eyes, the way he was gripping his helmet in both hands, as if prepared to throw it over his head imedietly. Harris opened his jaw to shout his opening statement. His words coursed through the entire bay, as the few rangers and groups of rebels alike suddenly changed their entire posture and stance. Valkren couldn't hear anything after this, as time seemed to slow down to its slowest after Harris informed the group.

Ossus was under attack, it was time to return to work.

Not moments later the Colonel and Lieutenant were in a full sprint down one of the corridors of the hidden base, with a crowd of rangers in their 'civilian kits' toting their actual sets of Katarn armor in tow behind the pair. As the platoon-sized strength of ranger specialists filed into the hangar, they began their embarkment of the assault frigate almost imedietly.

Valkren made sure he was the last on after all of his people. As he traversed the tight corners, he'd speak to the groupings of his rangers that found their way into one area.

"Alright, civvies' and a little bit of plating isn't going to cut it here. So find a private spot if your shy and suit up boys. If we need to get light then we'll strip some plating off while we're out there."

One of the explosive specialists spoke up, "What are our immediate orders, sir?"

At this point, Valkren had been pacing back and forth down the single corridor where his team was lined up on either side, finding their own spots and nooks to suit up as quickly as possible and listen to the briefing at the same time.

"We remain on standby until our boots hit the ground, once there we asses the terrorist threat and engage if possible. Command will act as our overwatch and issue orders as they deem fit. How copy?"

A number of 'Solid copy, sir's and 'Good copy.'s came in reply to this question, leading Calderon to nod in confidence at his teams response.

In truth, he hadn't the slightest bit of intel of how the ground was at the moment. He'd stop pacing at this time, moving to replace his civilian kit with the much heavier and 'decorated' Katarn armor.

It was now on them to simply wait until the Rangers reached their destination, then they'd do what they do best.

"And no hero crap, either!" He'd yell out, before several of his men replied with jeers and laughs.

So this. . . hero. . . skipped into battle? The Major’s eyebrows raise in slight surprise as the teenaged looking Vicar of the Ren jovially bounded in dance step to dance step. Well. Judging someone on personal style would be something of an hypocrisy for the mysterious Agent. Smiling and encouraged by the panache of the display, the Fallanassi jumped forward into a humble pace to keep up, her own combat boots resonating beautifully on the cobbled floor as the menagerie progressed into town. They all cut a terrible figure upon the eyes like Walpurgisnacht itself had spilled into reality just a smidgen too early.

Corresponding with the antics of this group was the architecture of the Stenax settlement. It could be loosely interpreted as nightmarish and garish -in a tepid, molted way. Spires and obtuse platforms criss-crossed in a free associative gothic sprawl of daring, dark alleyways and ill lit bridges. From a perspective of a flying beast it made a lot of sense to have as many platforms suspended in such a way. Such was a boon to creatures capable of flight; not so much for the party stuck with little recourse but to advance into narrow byways where footpaths were of little concern. It was intimidating to the novice, but exhilarating for the freak show.

This particular First Order Agent had been briefed on the details of the plan. She understood that commanders loved expensive contingencies. One example was the negotiation to be handled by a “Doctor” Kalar. Why specifically send a unit to its death in the hopes of a distraction? No matter, this doctor was unknown and of no consequence to her objectives. Next was the use of Officer Ravel in the Kulthis Spaceport holding. Ravel was just. . . precious. And when the Major used the term that context, it wasn’t a compliment. However, the Redheaded Menace was far more capable and bloodthirsty than perhaps she even realized. After Operation Nightfall the Fallanassi could only pray that Emilia would work her magic from a duty station -especially for the sake of any recruits under her jurisdiction.

It was all fluff in her opinion. The other ruse operations, the deception, and even the help of this Darth: all of it was an unnecessary waste. All that was necessary for success for this mission was the guidance of Commander Derith, and the talents of the Adept of the White Current. They would crush the Stenax into such pure, thorough submission. And the Major would ensure the Supreme Leader realized their poignant effectiveness.

There had been a rather large degree of 'silence' on the status of the battle for a while. The next big thing was that a ship had rammed a Asteroid to deflect it from causing planet wide devastation, which was certainly a dammned good thing. But then Dusaro heard the claxons go off in the airbase itself, along with Aegis base. "Incoming Enemy Transports." He heard clearly over the internal speakers. It seemed he didn't need to be sitting around in a shuttle that was for damn sure, so after giving the pilot a heads up he unbuckled and rushed out of the transport. It was as before a swarm of bodies, but this time it was people moving into guard positions in preperation for a incoming enemy. Dusaro hadn't heard anyone he had been waiting for arriving, so it seemed for now he was on his own. He would try to get into contact with his Master and see where he was. As it turned out, they had not left Aegis base proper yet and he was still with the Grandmaster. 'Chit, i have to link up now before they land.' While Dusaro didn't personally mind frontlining it up, he had been told to expect forcers. Dusaro had many kinds of crazy, but he wasn't crazy enough to be the lone Padawan when Sith Knights and Lords first set foot on the battlefield. "Coming to link up with you all." He said, pushing his way through the bustle of bodies. He arrived outside to see a set of enemy shuttles heading through the skies, landing in the area of the Mountain Pass above Aegis base.

'Well, at least they are not landing right on top of me.' Dusaro tried to find the speeder he had used to arrive, but it was nowhere to be found. Unsuprisingly it had already been nabbed for moving around the many troops planet side. Started to run across the base to where Joshua was, Dusaro started thinking about the situation with the landing enemy troops. He heard something about there being roughly two thousand or so. 'Damn, that is a lot in a concentrated area... Need a way to weed them out.' That thought process triggerd something in his mind. Dusaro halted, blinking as the thought crossed his mind. Then after a few moments a broad, teeth bearing grin spread across his face as he started to speak into his communicator. Thanks to his work at Charros IV, he had limited access to certain command channels. It was mostly for things like when Jessica had messaged him before, but if anything came to mind he had been suggested to set it on up the chain. And he certainly had something in mind.

"This is Padawan Dusaro Dresari, calling Silver Ossus Defense fleet. We have a group of enemies landed near Ossus base, numbering roughly two thousand last report i heard. Can we get the Shield Gates to send some hurt their way? Anything you can send their way to slow them down and let our forces react, over." And with that suggestion send up the command chain, Dusaro continued to run across the base to the area where Joshua and company were, finally arriving and catching up with them. It had been a run across the base that made even his Firrerreo body need to catch his breath for a moment, shaking his head to clear out the haze that was trying to build in it. "Sorry about the wait Master, had no available speeders so i had to book it on foot." He said to Joshua with a wry look as he straigtend up after catching his breath. "I am ready to deploy."

The small talk between father and daughter did not distract Jairdain from her concentration. Her Force Sight told her they would reach the surface of Ossus fine and safely. When her meditation and preparations were done, she turned her attention to Varas. Her violet eyes quite serious and could tell she was nervous. There was nothing in Jairdain's skill set that she could use to set the mind of her ally at ease. Only saying something verbally and even then it may not help.

Deciding to do it any way, "we'll land fine, Miss Varas." She had been raised with formal names and titles and wouldn't call another person without one unless they requested her to, they were equals or friends. Varas was none of these and so Jairdain formally called her Miss.

After a few moments, she could tell Varas had calmed down to a degree through meditation. Her words were unneeded, but hopefully appreciated. Jairdain also sensed fear in the other woman. Maybe it was for their safety, maybe it wasn't. She chose not to ask as it wasn't any of her business.

While Jairdain couldn't see what was going on outside, she could feel the turbulence once they broke through the atmosphere. She could feel the life of the planet now through the Force and make out some of the beings below. He flew low and fast to avoid any automated defenses and landed the shuttle. They were in a clearing as close to the enclave they were after as they could reasonably get.

Now they were landed, she went about the last part of her skills and virtually occluded herself from being visually seen. Force Cloak was a newer skill she had so was far from perfect in performing it, but hoped she did well enough to keep from being seen.

Walking down from the ramp, the full life of the planet hit her and for a moment, she lost her concentration with all her stealth and hiding skills. The Master of Ren, Kyrel had already started walking away, but turned to speak to his daughter. What he said was wrong, the Jedi wouldn't seek to kill them. At least the Silvers Jairdain had known wouldn't.

Thinking of those she knew, Jairdain could feel her love nearby. There was another shock to her and her masks disappeared again only be brought up within a few seconds. Cursing silently to herself, he would know she was here and come to find her. Twice they had met since she was captured, twice they had parted. Meeting him yet again, she knew there would not be another parting. The confusion she had been having, the tearing within her came roaring back unwanted and uncalled.

Kyrel and Varas walked in front of her, Jairdain following at a slower pace. Yuroic would find her before they reached the enclave and if he was caught by either of Ren in front of her, they would kill him.

Uhn...

Air escaped her lips in exclamation as she'd heard blaster rounds going off somewhere ahead. Her body slanted forward as her stance grew lose and wide. The rangers surrounding her tensed up as well. Her eyes shot down as her comm went off.

"This is Broadsword One! The enemy ambushed Mountain Pass, they are coming from above, dozens of them!"

She reached for her lightsaber, "The ambush failed! Damn." mumbling to herself, she unclipped the cylindrical object from her waist in one motion and held it out towards her side. Before she could ignite the weapon she heard a loud shriek cut through the sky above them. Her head beckoned back, and her hair sprung from her back from the sudden motion of her head.

"Look out!"

A voice rang out just as her irises would glow as she witness a fighter crash into the mountain side above them. She swung her arm around to cover her face as the rocks fell out of formation and fell to cut them off from the rest of the ground; landslide. That same landslide collided with an AB-RT, hitting it head-on, and knocking it over as it collided with the ground and caused it to crack underneath her and all those who had been cut off from the main group.

Their section had crumbled and forced them all to be thrown down the mountainside and towards the jungle. Her boots began to lose their grip as the ground beneath her became unstable. When she slid over the edge she could see the jungle below and the AB-RT falling just ahead of her. An inevitable plunge, she applied what friction she could and bounded from her position and landed on the back of the tank just as she descended further into the fall.

-------------------------------

When the tank collided with the ground below she was thrown off, and tossed before rolling along the jungle floor and colliding with the base of a tree. Before long the landslide ended and the jungle resumed it's natural ambient sound with the sound of war going on in its background. She struggled initially through the slight tenderness in getting herself back up. Propping herself up with her knee, she pressed on her lower back while observing a couple of the other rangers standing to their feet.

"Everyone alright?"

Standing to her feet, "We should probably work on rendezvousing with the main group, if we can..."

Standing at the back of the cockpit beside that of [member="Ara Zambrano"], Caehl's gaze fell momentarily to that of Delengtha Ren. The Disciple turning to acknowledge their newly appointed Queen in almost military formality, it was not like the Disciple though they were neither brief on the vicarious nature of her recent promotion, nor did they hold much, if at all any intelligence on the woman's past experience within the Knights of Ren as she'd been taken into the custody of the enemy during the time in which Omega Support was formed. Ara's compassion for the people of the world of Ossus too took him by some surprised, Caehl whom turned to face the black visor of his helm to her silently questioning the decision. The Silver Jedi had in his mind brought this destruction upon themselves in bringing the fight against the Supreme Leader alongside that of the Galactic Alliance. To try to stand before a mightier foe, cast insult and offense only to expect mercy was a farce dream for those enemies of the First Order today.
The Furious Class Corvette charged weapons regardless of his unspoken bias, the floor beneath their boots rumbling as the weapons drew energy from the engines, rerouting power to maximize the output of firepower as bright and brilliant green plasma burst from the blaster cannons, projectile bolts of burning energy cutting into the back of the asteroid tearing out chunks of rock and debris until finally the great descending giant exploded into hundreds of smaller pieces as they came down through the atmosphere, each shrapnel piece soon being engulfed in flames as they transitioned from space flight into the worlds veil, the temperatures of their fall and the steep trajectory in which they dove alarming the small group of them as the systems shields demanded adjusting to the rising heat against the hull of the vessel. Bringing the Corvette to flatten out some, Delengtha brought the craft into a planetary glide, easing the craft down through the skies, landfall now in sight through the clouds of smoke and ash.
"Target the Jedi Academy, estimated co-ordinates..." Caehl turned to the communications panel and brought his left hand to activate the main screen, drawing up a former transmission sent to all priority vessels meant for the invasion, "Forwarding to your terminal now. Hold fire, we will land and take the fight to the Jedi on foot..." he would speak very clearly on this, wanting not to have the job done before they reached the surface. The fleet had had it's fun and now it was time to raise hell in Sieger's name, the Knights of Ren were the elite of the First Order's counter-force contingency. "Get us to the outskirts of the facility, we will continue from there" He concluded, turning to step away and out of the cockpit, moving deeper into the craft and gesturing for Arkaos and Nocturnus to rise and follow him as he made his way towards the landing ramp.

This was not the battlefield that Veiere was used to nor was he skilled at, piloting was for droids and peoples of true skill in the art where as he was a man guided only by the force and his instincts, his practice in flight had come from basic training that most Jedi were put through in their rising up in the Order, accompanied now by personal experience, little of which was spent dog-fighting in real combat scenarios. Suffice it to say the words that were coming out of his mouth as he leaned into each turn and maneuver that he tried to throw the X-Wing into to avoid the exploding green flashes of plasma charges lighting up the debris around him; well...-they weren't the typical language expected of a Jedi Master.

"I can't fly like this!" Veiere snapped back in response to the droids consistent screeching, the two of them coming far too close to slamming into the remains of a larger vessels hull torn asunder by what appeared to be half of an asteroid surrounded by smaller pieces of rock and unknown metals; "No blast it, lock S-Foils again, I need the maneuvera-" The fighter rocked with so much force that Veiere's head was forced to hit the side of the canopy, "This man is really trying to kill me..." He spouted the obscenely obvious, as foolhardy as it sounded [member="Zodan Osyk-Drul"] really was doing a terrific job of making Veiere's possible final moments a nightmare. "Re-route all power from weapons to shields, set them aft, I need this pilot off of our back...". In such moments Veiere rarely thought rationally, surviving most things by what most would presume was blind luck, he turned the vessel towards the larges debris field that he could find en-route down into Ossus and gunned the thrusters for all they were worth.

His foe was relentless and Veiere couldn't shake him yet nor had he managed to land a shot that had carried enough force to penetrate their shields. Weaving down through the remains of broken vessels and floating bodies of their former crewmen, the starfighter spun clockwise, Veiere's view from the cockpit becoming nauseating yet his his focused had become distanced, the immediate situation a blur to his visual acuity as he reached out with the force searching in any desperate attempt to find a way out of Zod's crosshairs.

...And there he found his answer. He could feel his opponents focus on his ship. No, not his fighter but on Veiere himself. That deep seated hatred, that thirst for his life, Veiere could feel this mans presence so twisted around trying to eliminate him and the Darkside that flowed through his mind, his anger as the battle continued to no avail. With the mans sole focus on Veiere, telepathic communication was almost being called for. "Cap, take control of the fighter..." Veiere spoke unusually calmly given the situation, his concentration centering upon the presence of hostility and darkness.

'Turn away..'
His words would be projected back to that of Zodan, and if he were able to break through the foes mental wall completely, the words would be accompanied by a brief image of Veiere's reflection to the Ren's eyes. Veiere seeking to not only disuade him from continuing in this fight but trying to distract him from the controls and focus of his flying.

'Turn away from this fight or you will lose sight of yourself down on this world...'
Veiere himself didn't quite understand the meaning to the words of warning that he offered Zodan, they were brought up upon both impulse and a gut feeling that this figure's fate was directly tied to what was unfolding here and now. Blinking back to full awareness of his immediate situation, the cries of his astromech droid shook his concentration and quickly led Veiere into a panic as he realized they'd breached down through the atmosphere of Ossus accompanied by a reign of fire and debris that had exploded, something having fired upon and shattered it completely causing the fighter to shake as they surged down closer towards the sight of land, the wings of the craft trailing in smoke as they cleared entry into the world and were meat with the grey clouds that filled the sky, fighting already on going down upon the surface from what he could tell.

To say Carlyle was surprised by the sudden appearance of a battlecruiser was, well, not good to say the least. He however watched it as it slammed into the vessel, and his eyes widened as he saw the hull breached and the multitude of bodies emptied into the void. There was satisfaction there, as, from a distance he observed the soldiers and accompanying crewmen choking to death with a sense of totality. A silence came over him, as he watched the life drain from their bodies, choking on the lack of air. It was, in a sense, beautiful. Beautiful to see the enemies of Supreme Leader, and by extension, Rausgeber, perish in such hideous fashion. However, the Fleet Admirals silent lamentation was cut short by an alert.

"Admiral!" An Ensign barked from below, nestled at a terminal within the starboard crewpit, Carlyle turned, and his cold eyes locked with hers. An incriminating glare withered her, as he waited for her to finish interupting her. "Sir," The young officer began, "Sir, we have projected collateral damage on Ossus." She informed him.

"Projected?" Carlyle asked, quizzically, "What does that mean? Is the damage imminent?" The Fleet Admiral inquired, an eyebrow arching, "What sort is it?"

"The shield gate sir," She stammered, "We've pierced it." She paused, "And now, debris from the gate, and asteroids is headed to the planet below sir." The Ensign once again paused, "And, well, the debris is projected to land and hit several settlements...." Her voice trailed off.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MYAGyZlBY0
Carlyle's eyes widened, and he turned his head to the viewport again, in the distance, he could see the bright explosions, as settlements, which had relied on the Jedi's protection and safeguards, were now decimated. Rausgeber's mind turned to the logistics of it all, and murmured aloud, "Who the kark builds military infastructre above civilian areas?" He watched as Ossus' surface lit up. From his perspective, he could see, even as far away as he was, the ripples from the detonations, which he estimated would carry on for tens of kilometeres.

Carlyle realised he was, in that moment, a probably murderer. Even a war criminal. He felt somewhat sorrowful. This wasn't meant to be this way. This wasn't meant to be how the battle was at all. However, for Carlyle, there would be an out in this. "Admiral, we have a transmission from the Silver Jedi sir, they're hailing us."

Carlyle frowned, "Punch it through." He said, no doubt this would be some kind of request for a ceasefire, or even a surrender on his part. However, he was wrong. Dead wrong.

"Attention all First Order vessels, this is Admiral King of the Silver's Seventh Fleet. I don't know what the hell crawled up all your arses and made you come up to Ossus, but for Ashla's sake stop it with the asteroids! Do you understand what happens if any of those are allowed to impact the surface? You all like to masquerade as being decent, yet you do things like this? Why do you all cry over Kaeshana when you've probably just killed more civilians here than the GADF ever did there? You sully the memory of your compatriots with this gross display of hypocrisy."

The Fleet Admiral sat in stunned silence for a moment after hearing the audio. The crew all watched him, eagerly awaiting the response. And when Carlyle gave it, they were shocked. A grin spread over the Admiral's face, and his chest began to bulge up and down, as a hearty chuckle reverberated around the Menace's bridge. Carlyle couldn't help it. What was this diatribe? Were all Jedi this condescending? This smug? This wasn't some professional military communication. This wasn't any propaganda? This was the moralising of an idiot.

giphy.gif
Carlyle's face lit up, as he continued to laugh in the face of King's plea to stop. "What a conceited chithead!" Carlyle mused, grinning ear to ear, "Tell me we have a file of this guy someplace." Carlyle said, he couldn't help but continue to laugh, this was comedy gold, "First man to get a picture of this King gentleman, get's a bottle of scotch." The whole thing, just a wonderfully inadequate diatribe which did nothing but spell out the incompetence, and spiteful nature of the Silver Jedi's military hierarchy. There was a pause, and Carlyle's breaths shortened, as he tried to calm himself. He sat back, and waited for the file to come up.

As this happened, Med-Beq finally decided to play catch up, something which somewhat took the air from Carlyle's proverbial sail. He paused, and decided upon a course of action, "Get Bombard Line to pursue the battlecruiser. Wraith's and Cavalry can target the interdictor." He then paused, and began to stroke his chin, "Additionally, concentrate our batteries there." Carlyle said, "Move us forward, get us a better grip on the asteroid." he commanded. The Menace pressed forward the attack.

While Med-Beq's strategy to copy the First Order was bold, it didn't work too well. Particularly given the Vigilant had access to superior asteroids. Ones which held greater mass, compared to the small ones that Med-Beq used. Naturally there would be some what would get past, but the greater mass from the asteroid fields the First Order drew upon meant that they had a distinctive advantage in the realm of this contest the Silver's had decidedly joined in on.

tumblr_inline_ooz9lphpdY1u05gtv_540.gif

As the Menace pressed ahead, it's batteries focused upon the behemoth of a command ship. Rausgeber smirked a little, "Commence firing. All batteries, target their heavy guns. We're not about to let this bastard get away." There was a click, and Carlyle's attention turned away from the battle as the hologram projector. The Comms Officer had found King's FOSB dossier first, and decidedly projected it. And by the Force, the laughter felt was mighty. "Holy-!" He was blown away, "Look at this guy!" King didn't match Rausgeber's imagined view at all. He had anticipated some elderly looking, windbag, clutching pearls and perhaps a little too old and senile for this kind of work. Not this youthful , virile giant, rippled with muscle. Carlyle's mind wandered as he chuckled. What had made this man so whiny? Had midichlorians effected his testosterone count? Carlyle knew what he needed, "Comms, Comms, get me a line, I need to talk to him." He hurriedly barked, "This is too good to be true!"

tumblr_mg8wb1AYHn1rvlpdco3_250.gif
There was a ten second latency between Rausgeber's command and an open holographic communications link being opened. Carlyle could barely sustain himself. "Admiral King," He began, stifling his laughter, however, he gave the biggest poodoo-eating grin ever seen. "I'm going to start with an insult of my own, since you decided to begin with evoking our war dead." he snickered, "Impotent whining, like the sort you have decidedly partaken in, is no substitute for tactics." He began, "And given the calibre of resistance we're facing, I'd dare well say, that fighting you delays the inevitable. The death of your tyrannical theocracy." Carlyle began, pompously, "So I offer you and your colleagues am out. A surrender. Your conduct so far has been amusing, and I do not wish to see such children as yourself, put to the slaughter." He informed him, the grin ever growing on his face.

"Should you and your vessels depart, I'll see to it no more," He paused, and couldn't help but let out another girlish giggle, "I'll see to it," he began, reasserting himself, breathing in deeply to make sure he was composed. He wasn't. "That you and your widdle pwanet aren't pestered by anymore big, bad wasteroids." He mockingly proposed. However, the merriment and joy he felt, bubbled to the surface. The offer itself was genuine, but he was clearly poking fun at King's impotent whining. "This is a serious offer Wadmiwal." He continued, that grin growing ever larger, his eyes mischievously sparkling, "I suggest you take it." He then paused, "And if I may offer another piece of advice," He looked right into the holorecorder, "Don't build your highly targeted, poorly made, military infrastructure over major civilian locations."

It took Gibson a minute to wrap his head around the audacious plan that Yune had proposed, but once he did, he found it brilliant. Now it was time to sell it to his counterparts.

The Resistance General quickly gathered the command staff for an emergency meeting, Arisa also present on holocall via biocomm.

"Evening everyone. Just a few minutes ago, we received word from our RA friends to the north that the First Order have launched a large-scale operation in Silver Space. The Grand Admiral is there, and knowing the First Order's MO, their Supreme Commander probably deployed as well."

The news elicited confused expressions among the staff, unable to fathom a good reason why a supposed war-weary and isolationist First Order had decided to strike out on a new military campaign on the far side of the galaxy that would undoubtedly spark a new round of hostilities. Just more evidence of the FO's duplicitous nature.

"Fifty credits says Sieger is somewhere nearby finger steepling," Admiral Moliere sneered.

"If that's the case, then that only works to our favor. I'll let General Yune explain."

"Thank you, General Gibson," Arisa said, looking the small crowd gathered before speaking. "With their top military commanders now absent from FO space, defected, or dismissed, we've been presented with a prime opportunity strike at the heart of the First Order: Dosuun."

Chatter picked up among the staff at the mention of Dosuun, surprised by the boldness of her selection of target.

"Say, even if Tregessar is gone, there's still the fact that Dosuun itself is a throneworld protected by its own home fleet," a Thakwaash commander reminded them. "With the Galactic Alliance now standing down, alone we couldn't hope to siege Dosuun even with the combined strength of our entire network."

"I'm aware," Arisa admitted, "but hear me out. While the Galactic Alliance is now playing nice with the First Order, there is still another hostile group other there: The Ssi-Ruuk. Given their history with the First Order, I'm almost certain they would love nothing more than to assault Dosuun, and they have the forces to do it. All we need to do is crack open Dosuun with rapid precision strikes against key facilities designed to circumvent their superior numbers, then wave in our scaly friends and let them take care of the rest."

"Get the FO bogged down with dealing with the Ssi-Ruuk on a new front right in their house while their C2 and financial systems are totally shot, then use the confusion for follow-up strikes against their regional commands. Monitoring stations. Shipyards. In less than a week, we can dismantle their organization and send them into chaos. Will this kill the First Order? No, but it will keep them tied up and prevent them from further encroachment into your homes for a while. Give you breathing space to grow the Resistance. Maybe it will give the Galactic Alliance the opportunity to pursue a containment strategy. The passive reactive approach to the First Order and their allies are not working for us, so we need to try something new if we stand a chance at survival."

Gibson and the other Resistance officers talked among themselves for a while, Arisa tapping her foot in impatience all the while off-screen.

"Aggressive. Risky. Maybe suicidal. I love it," Moliere said. "I'm tired of sitting on my bum all day playing chair force. With the new vessels in our inventory, we can pull it off. As this operation is time sensitive, I can just dust off one of my Dosuun missions from Planning for this, with a few modifications."

"That's good, what about the rest of you? Are you in?"

There were nods and verbal affirmations, confidence rising in the plan after their chief naval officer had signed off on it.

"Well then, Yune, it looks like this mission is a go. I never thought I'd see the day we strike Dosuun itself, but here it is."

"Thank you," Arisa said, offering a tight smile, eyes crinkling in genuine gratitude. "And good luck to you."

"And to you as well. May the Force be with you."

Arisa turned away from the camera, and then the holocall cut off. The Resistance staff was left among themselves to converse and plan for the coming assault, set to be launched within the hour.

Before he got too deep into discussions, the grizzled commander couldn't help but think of the last expression of Yune, so childlike and innocent. The woman hadn't even hit 30, and could still easily pass off as a student. She was about the same age as his eldest granddaughter. For Yune to have obtained her rank and status at such a young age, she basically must have been fighting almost her entire adult life, even on an accelerated path. He could only imagine how that must have affected her, himself only joining up with the Resistance well into his advanced years, enjoying several decades of peaceful living before then. He prayed on everything that his grandchildren wouldn't end up in the same situation as Arisa, but nothing could be certain in these times of chaos.

ZXDmlmR.png

Arisa had relocated to the Norikura, just about ready to deploy, but a few orders needed to be made before she could jump to the Belderone system. She reviewed some of the latest reports, then contacted the Kulthis team with an update.

"I'm not sure why, but FO ground parties are all but confirmed operating on the surface of Kulthis by local authorities, centering around the local spaceport. Spaceport security is currently engaging the FO teams, and the military is scrambling but they're afraid they'll get blown up by orbital strikes by the resident FO battlegroup before they can get into position."

"That's where you all come in. Calderon and Forr, I want you two to take point in relieving the security forces at the spaceport with an airborne assault, then figure out exactly what they're doing down there. Expect hostile Force Users on their end, so equip accordingly."

"All callsigns," she said, now addressing the dispersed Rebel fleet. "We'll rendezvous at the edge of the Belderone sector, then we'll jump into the fray from there after I collect another sitrep."

"Now, let's get down to business."

Beginning with her personal units from Dunscaith, ships all over the region began blinking away from view as they entered hyperspace for Belderone. Altogether, it was mostly a hodgepodge group of refurbished Republic and Directorate vessels as well as ships donated by groups sympathetic to the Rebel cause.

The battle was about to begin, Arisa against one of the most feared and respected naval commanders in the galaxy. She had definitely had her work cut out for her, especially as she wasn't working with the usual fleet. However, she had high confidence that once the FO expeditionary forces realized that Dosuun was burning, they would hightail it out of the Northern Outer Rim. No matter how she did at Belderone, the First Order would come out the losers here all because of their hubris. She had tried showing them mercy before by not pressing her attacks after Skor, but it was clear she needed to show them just how bad it could be crossing her. She would do all that needed to be done to end the FO's attacks in Silver Space and discourage all future desires for military adventurism.

(To all FO fleeters in the Belderone theater, feel free to take shots at the NPC fleet there in your responses until I show up with my PC controlled fleet.)

"Cass, I really couldn't care less how you do it - just make sure your astromech's motivator is fixed, or get a replacement." Aryn sighed as he turned and walked away from the pilot, who frustratedly turned back around and kicked the droid at his side. The hangar bay was buzzing with activity, maintenance crews and pilots rushing back and forth between the X-wings which sat in the bay, getting ready for a rather rapid deployment as usual. Aryn had been trying to hide his relative concern at the mission which lay ahead of him, and the rest of Blue Squadron.

Since Yune had recruited him for the Alliance, Aryn had been involved in a number of missions, but until that point, they had been primarily escorts or smaller raids against fringe outposts. This was by far the most high-risk, and indeed major operation he'd been part of, and he'd been damn tempted to request a raise to his usual salary of credits for undertaking the mission. It had been mostly the conviction of his fellow pilots that had stopped him from doing so. Many of the other members of Blue Squadron were part of the Alliance for a reason, they believed in its mission, in what it stood for - Aryn was still there more than anything, for credits.

Shaking the thought from his mind, Aryn finally reached his X-wing, sitting closest to the hangar doors. He could see that BB-3 was just now being lowered into his slot behind the cockpit, beeping in frustration at the crane operator for apparently being too quick, and not careful enough. "There's really nothing in this galaxy you won't complain about, is there?" He teased the droid, picking his helmet up from a nearby crate, he tucked it under his arm as he moved to climb the ladder resting against his ship one-handed, listening as the small astromech droid beeped in an irritated fashion back at him for his comments.

The second that Aryn was sat down in the cockpit of his X-wing, he sighed comfortably. This was where Aryn felt most at rest, most peaceful. Whatever was to come in the battle ahead, as he put his helmet on, Aryn made peace with himself, settling into the seat, he allowed the cockpit itself to close, reaching forward as he keyed in the comm, connecting with the bridge of the Norikura in order to respond to Yune's announcement. "Blue Squadron's all set and ready to launch, Yun- er, General." He caught himself quickly, hearing the distorted 'laughter' from BB-3 behind him as he rolled his eyes, ignoring the droid as he wrapped his hand around the flight stick, peering out of the cockpit down to the other X-wings, loaded up and ready to launch along with him into the fray.

Explosions rippled around the Jedi contingency, the FO DOKAWs splintering small pockets of the exterior and interior of the mountainside. A wave of Dark energy slammed into her, alerting her to Sith and his soldiers near by. Caught off guard, the Rogue Knight fell to the ground from the shaking, covering her head with her gloved hands, careful to preserve her energy for whatever threatened around the bend. She assumed it would take a feth-ton of munitions to collapse the entire mountain, although Setzi was no structural engineer or expert on geology. Still, the thunderous roar caused Rangers and Jedi to scatter.

Brushing herself off, she stepped out into the path again as Lord Graush pinpointed her with his molten irises. Her Force aura was multicolored, but in the center was a coal-black core that she’d never been able to shake. It lay there exposed and even accused, pointing at her like a glowing traffic sign. This one has been tainted, it might speak to him. This one had fallen once…

Or was it some kind of alteration of his mind, his senses, through the Force?

Setzi’s shape marked her as a human female, but the thick visor of her helmet held no clue to her identity. The only evidence of her Silver Jedi status was the blue blade, pulled from her hip, that ignited from her own hand as she sensed the Sith Lord leaping towards her. But her Force signature itself was more of mixed bag. Setzi’s challenge would be to use the Dark to her advantage and not succumb to it - a tall order indeed.

She whirled around and parried his blow, feeling the heat of the large Sith Lord’s saber even through the visor which masked her face. She was a Sith Lord once, but had her own strength and power dulled with time, with statis and with the Lightside of the Force? Again that strange deja vu seeped into her senses, threatening to break her concentration.

BOOOOOOMMMMMSHHHHHUUUUSSSSHHHHHSSSLLLEE!!!!! Right beside them a huge slab of rock slid down upon them from the structural damage of the DOKAWs blocking the mountain path on either side of them, essentially trapping them together in a small area on the road.

Despite A'sharad's senses attempting to warn him of corrupted presence of the woman before him, he ignored it. Although the sapphire beam of the lightsabre was enough for him to confirm that she was a Jedi... The true corruption was that it was the presence of Ashla, that permeated her aura. The stygian Sith Lord descended from the sky, his momentum and strength facilitated him forcing her backwards as her defense was enough to parry his lightsabre to the side. Before he could manage to press his physical advantage over her, a large object fell from the sky - What?

Rock.

It crashed only a handful of metres beside them, and it cast debris in every direction, a rock striking the side of his head was enough to aggravate him further, but it also served to distract him from the Jedi as the Dark Side of the Force built within him.

You are to kill the Jidai. Kill her.

A familiar voice, annoyingly so, and yet he was forced to oblige. Reports came in that there was no explosion from the ship that was hanging above the Silver Jedi Base, which was an unfortunate predicament for soon after fire rained down upon those would be Forsworn Legionnaires that had fired those rockets. Unfortunately for that return of fire, it also meant it was indiscriminate. Legionnaires died, but debris that was created descended and went in every direction. These mountains also held the ship's own allies. Yet, it was almost better that there was no fiery explosion above them, for it would merely be more debris to hide from.

"Accept your fate, Jidai," the tip of the lightsabre melting a furrow through rock as he spun around to face her. "Conflict breeds evolution, and you Jidai rather hide from it." He flicked the lightsabre out of the rock and at the helmeted female, molten pieces of rocks followed in the wake of the blade, in which he came after in hopes to prevent a counter-attack.

"What could possibly be complicated about Mister I-don't-talk-or-express-feelings?" Nadja asked, her expression not at all masking her confusion communicated through the question. Lily, of course, rolled her eyes and braced herself for another lecture from the master of dating advice - ironic considering she was pretty sure that Nadja had maybe one relationship in the entire time she'd known her. "The guy is, like, tutorial-mode for dating, and he has to like you if he puts up with seeing you once every month or so - especially with what you make me put up with, I can only imagine how frustrating you can be for Mister Right." She rattled off, clearly oblivious to her friend's desire to let the topic die. "I said it's compli- wait, what do you mean 'put up with'? You make it sound like I'm some kind of prissy know-it-all." Lily shot back, getting sucked into Nadja's prattling despite not being keen to talk about it. "You do have a tendency to overreact." Nadja said with a shrug.

"We are about to exit hyperspace, Empress, Miss Keto." Came the voice of one of the members of the crew, reminding them that they weren't alone on the bridge.

A few moments later and the small group of starships arrived in realspace near the planet of Ossus - right in the middle of what was starting to look like the worst way to end her week. "Feth." Lily swore, forgetting her conversation with Nadja as she realized they had stumbled into the middle of yet another battle. What made it worse was that it was the First Order, by the looks of it at least, and that only made her heart sink just a little bit more than it already was. Was he on one of those ships? Or was he already on the planet, razing it to the ground? Unfortunately for her, it appeared she wouldn't be able to let that line of thought control her actions - "Ma'am, a detachment of starships that do not match known Silver Jedi IFF are heading towards our vicinity. What are your orders?"

Absolutely karking wonderful, that's what this week was turning out to be. Why not throw in a couple super star destroyers and let her stress kill her before she started growing grays? "Slow down - all ships - if we are to engage, I want it to be on my terms. Allow the Tryast and Ronika to pull ahead of us, but I want them far enough back that any preemptive fire isn't going to cause too much damage. I want all pilots in their fighters, and I want all ships prepared to engage with an enemy - and send a message to Teta regarding our status, if something happens to us I don't want them, or the Alliance, to wonder what." She said, taking a moment afterward to give Nadja an exasperated look.

"You're really having a bad week, aren't you?"

"This isn't the time."

"Think he might be on one of those ships?"

"Shut up."

The explosion in the mountains happened a few seconds before the shockwave and sound carried to Stephanie's ears. Her brown hair blew forward a little when she turned to see the plume of brown smoke rising behind the temple, the tendrils of dirt and debris fanning outwards from the impact of whatever it was. Asteroid, laser cannon, missle or drop-ship. It spelt trouble.

"God, no," she gasped, staying still.

It was then she stopped thinking, and started doing by the will of the Force and the desire to protect others. She broke into a run back towards the temple she had been walking from looking for signs of the enemy, and she stopped at each person she came to to check if they were safe and alright.

"Are you alright? Get across to the tunnels - go!"
"The Rangers are here, don't worry!"
"Stay together, stick by the Jedi and get to the evac ships at once!"

Closing the gap to the side of the smoking temple, outlined by the jungle and mountains behind, Stephanie ran a hand across her brow, wondering where to go next. Towards the flashes up top of the crumbling temple, or into the jungle where shouts were coming from, or over to the mountains where smoke rose. Her mind was focused so much on thinking, she failed to see two white figures emerge from around the corner of the temple to her left. Two Stormtroopers.

"You there! Halt!"

The Padawan turned to see the two imposing figures of the First Order with their blasters aimed high. Stephanie stopped, her eyes focused. Breathing steadily, she felt a wave of calm surge over her, as if she wasn't in control.

"Drop your weapon!"

Stephanie said nothing and turned around slowly, the red and blue Republic shield strapped to her back. She shrugged it off, one strap at a time, taking it in her hands and rolling it across the floor, kicking up some gravel as it clanked down before them.

"Bring her in," said one trooper to the other, already moving towards her.

It was then the Force took over her, and she didn't let it hold back. Hands up, she lowered her head and walked forward, and as they closed the gap, her eyes opened wide, head snapped up and so did her right leg to kick to trooper square under the chin with a crunch, and then she acrobatically flipped forward through the pair.

tumblr_niqoy8tiYN1u7s3oio1_400.gif

Upon landing, the crystal clear blue snap-hiss of the lightsaber by her side was ignited in hand, and she had sliced up the closest trooper, who shouted out and span around as the firey scorch cut through his armour and sent him down. She had only landed a second before and her left palm pushed up and out, kicking a Force energy blast towards the furthers trooper, recovering from her kick, to go sprawling backwards and across the ground after a hard fall.

There was silence. Stephanie was half knelt, half stood, blade angled out, palm forward. The Force flowed around her and warmed her body.

She didn't dare move, afraid to think about what she had just done. Whatever it was, she felt she had taken her first step foward.

Even though Knight Lunelle continually teetered on the brink of trust-falling back into the arms of the darkside, where passion and rage, fury and even shame would lay unforbidden to her again, her resolve this day was as thick as the Sith Lord’s armor, her belief in the Force to guide her the most powerful sensation crowding out all others.

Setzi never broke away from the Sith Lord until a rock clunked down, striking her enemy, causing both of them to whirl away from each other, the Rogue Jedi windmilling back until she caught her balance. The Makashi duelist in her wanted to charge, but she took the opportunity to regroup, collect herself and prepare for her opponent instead.

The heaps of rocks and rubble now on either side of them was a mere distraction, but the smaller ones heading towards her courtesy of Grauash were not. Right hand let go of the saber, and she repelled the rocks with both hands up, telekinesis sending them right back towards the Sith Lord.

“My fate is none of your business,” she said in a low, raspy voice. “Nor are our fates intertwined beyond today.” Though inside she knew, quite certainly, that the two had met before, and she hoped that her deja vu feeling wasn’t some strange precognitive vision she was having courtesy of the Force.

Most men would run for cover upon witnessing such an unabashed servant of darkness appear as if summoned from the deepest pits of the Abyss. Even the most courageous would likely at the very least flinch at the sheer aura of doom and terror accompanying the hulking Sith Lord. Thurion was either foolish or stubborn enough to do neither of these things, for he certainly did not think himself brave in that moment. He held firm, even inclining his head ever so slightly as if greeting his adversary. He'd been through this song and dance many times before, after all.

"Zambrano. The choice was made for me, I'm afraid," he replied with the faintest hint of levity. Watching Braxus unsheath the terrifying blade of Daesumnor, its trapped souls shrieking for release from their eternal torment, Thurion calmly rolled his shoulders backwards to make the Jedi robes fall at his feet while also brandishing the Heavenshield, its azure Force crystals humming its gentle tone not unlike that of a lightsaber. "It is you that chose to come here, Braxus. And you'll find my head far less eager to be rid of the rest of me than you might think."

Out of its sheath Snowfall was drawn, and as the Lord of the Sith charged Thurion would bang his weapon against his shield, taunting his foe in simple but effective Valkyri fashion but also serving to stir the blood of his ancestors for the might to face the challenge ahead. At the moment of impact the Force surged up through his legs, rooting him in place and becoming like the Midvinter mountainside for Prazutis to smash against. Blocking and parrying the onslaught of Daesumnor, Thurion weathered the vicious assault like a rockface against the rising tides. But all tides inevitably ebb, and once he found an opening he lunged forward with shield in hand, swinging it from right to left in hopes of bashing his opponent off balance.

Even should he dodge his counter-attack, Braxus would also be faced with a powerful wave of kinetic energy akin to that of a Force Push emanating from the Shield of Heaven. Once sufficient space was created between the two, Thurion would go on the offensive with Snowfall singing its song as metal clanged against metal. "Go back to the shadows, foul demon! You shall not pass!"

The Sith Lord was mere steps behind the flicked molten rocks that struck out at the Jedi. The armoured titan's lightsabre raised in a mid guard as he advanced. Although he didn't abide by any single lightsabre form, instead a hybrid of Djem So and the seventh forms, he still sought to protect himself, even if he was armoured. Who knew what sort of weapons or tricks the girl had in store for him?

The mask was in the shape of a Vornskr, a hunter of the Force, and one he had bore since the Sith Empire had struck the Dominion at Krayiss II. A simple victory against a dying government, the same would be found here. And here... He was more... Invested, for it was his father who taught and trained him to fight Jedi. For all intents and purposes, the Supreme Commander was constantly performing his duty.

To Kill. Jedi.

But when the Jedi answered him, there was a hint of amusement that didn't give him pause, but was enough for him to find her sense of hope, or perhaps bravery, amusing. Yet, he still found himself nodding, his cold voice coming surprisingly clear from the mask.

"Indeed."

However, it was not a statement of 'we'll part ways' and never see each other again, but rather his agreement stemmed from his own belief of slashing her to pieces with his lightsabre, his amphistaff too if need be.

The rocks were halted, a telekinetic barrier... No, a push stopped them, and then they were cast towards him, he raised his organic arm in front of his face, allowing rocks to strike against his armour as he twisted his head to the side, his armourweave cloak curling around the side of his body to protect him before he led with his right hand, the one that bore his lightsabre, and it descended in an overhead diagonal slash to go across her face. Although, only striking with the edge of his blade, they had limited room in their rock arena, and he was certain she had taken note of that as well.

Marek didn't ask questions. How did a shuttle breach their shields? How the hell was it shrugging off anti-aircraft fire? Should he rush to aid Thurion? All of these and more could've been rushing through the Jedi Master's head, but they weren't, he knew what needed to be done, and the Lieutenant-Commander had the right idea in mind. Shrugging off his robe Marek broke into a dash and leapt clean onto the AB-RT and motioned for the driver of the tank to go.

In an instant the operator yanked the controls and brought the repulsorlift tank into position with the turret swinging itself upwards and lining up a shot with the building. Torran had thought quickly, and as against bringing down a part of their own base as he was, any shuttle that could shrug off shots like that and could continually ferry in troops had to be dealt with. That said, he was again, rather against bringing down a part of their base. The battle hardened Jedi Master stretched out his arm and opened his hand, reaching out with the force wrapping a grip around the engine of the shuttle. "Bring it down if this doesn't work." He radioed curtly, his voice suddenly more firm than before as the battle began.

Then he squeezed, bringing crushing force down on the engines keeping the shuttle aloft. Where others weilded more exotic abilities, Marek had his blades, his fists, and the most basic of the force abilities, the trade-off being that his use of the power was quite strong. Unless the black ship truly was indestructible by anything other than falling buildings, the wings of the bird would be clipped in an instant as he crushed them with the all-surrounding force.

Kal's hornett made a mute sound, how could it be heard in amidst the chaos? As the 10 foot rangers left before him and the ones on hornetts his head turned towards the troops covering the retreat, they kept firing again and again but the enemy kept coming. Having infantry being destroyed by heavy armor is not a good idea, yet they did not deploy any of their own, could it be they didn't have any nearby? It would make perfect sense, it couldn't climb mountains, it would have to take the route through the Pass! There was some hope left, not just for those chosen but for the rest too, he would wave his hand at the 21 men still shooting at the incoming troops "Tactical retreat! Fall back slowly through the Pass and stay close to the tanks!"

But who was commanding these troops? Someone who did not come with the initial wave and neither now, is he watching from somewhere? Is this all part of the plan? At the padawan's command the rangers on hornetts begun riding through the pass to exit it, he and the one with him remained watching the rest of the troops retreat, with a little luck, the enemy won't be able to prevent it... No armor has shown, it is possible none will at least for now. He would not merely stand around though, his speeder would keep moving around to avoid blaster fire, the ranger on his back would fire back.

Kal turned his attention to the comm unit again, this time with another idea in mind, there may yet be someone out there who can give these guys problems "This is Broadsword One, Mountain Pas is overrun, I repeat, Mountain Pass is overrun, enemy infantry are pouring endlessly, I require fire support..." He yelled at the link, there was a chance to save more rangers than he thought, a chance for this to not be a complete massacre... He had to take it, he had to try it! "Is anybody out there?!"

Meanwhile the voice of a ranger replied through the comm "We're just outside the Pass, sir!"

Kal's voice deepened if only for the purpose of seeming under control "Leave for Aegis IMMEDIATELY! Report back to Darren, we'll be right behind you! The rest on foot, split at the entrance half on the right side, the other half on the left, if something happens here I'm counting on you to hold them back!"

"Aknowledged, sir!"

More of the remaining rangers were falling prey to the brutality of war and there was so little he could do... Putting aside all the emotions striking at him at once was the best thing to do... And commanding the troops the most practical, he had no firing weapon, to redirect more blaster fire would mean exposing himself to the incoming enemy fire, instant death helped no one. Getting close to the invaders would've been close to impossible for him.

Osidipie was curious as he monitored the console, a brow raised but nothing said. Gravity mine were out and an interdiction field down, ships attempting to come through would be pulled out of the system. Grand Admiral Tregessar had arrived with a set of ships, the Captain walked the trenches as he thought of his options. There weren't many so he decided should the worst come to pass - well - he would do what any good Imperial officer would do. Make a batch of tea and watch the destruction while going down with the ship he supposed. His dark eyes followed the shadows along the trench floor, Commander Cyone lingered not too far away.

Her attention was captured he noted, helping a few of the other officers run their menial tasks. He observed her for another moment before turning on his heels, she was too soft. Much too soft he feared her emotions stood in the way of greatness. His eyes traced along the trenches again watching as various officers and crew worked. The Audacity had been one of the few to still uphold the command pit of the fallen empires, not many in the Navy still held this design. He adored it - Osidipie could truly watch his charges. "Cyone," his voice was stale as it seemed flow toward the woman's ears.

"Run a status check on munitions," he drawled and watched her depart with bearings intact. His shoulders square as a blip appeared at the edge of the system his eyes barely registered it and yet in his mind he decided to wait and see what his orders would be.

"Munitions are ready," Cyone reported.

Captain Osidipie looked over his shoulder a moment and then turned his gaze away.

"Take us to yellow alert, raise shields."

"Yes, Captain."
