When History Deletes Itself [CIS Dominion of the Christophsis]

05W8VU9l.jpg

The emerald green Christophsis and the Confederacy of Independent Systems shared a turbulent history together, going all the way back to the Clone Wars. The site of multiple land and orbital bombardments, skirmishes and raids from not only the CIS, but the Imperial Remnant and The Black Tie Syndicate over the years, the planet, still displaying scars of these historical massacres, had been quiet and back under the mercantile oligarchy control for some time.

But something lay dormant since those ancient separatist battles. And one droid, present in the earliest Clone Wars conflict, was about to attempt another invasion when the shutdown signal turned him off.

Since then technology has changed, advanced and improved, but a droid’s orders can survive the repetitive cycle of annihilation and recovery. And a new conflict would rise afresh from some routine maintenance.

When droid engineers recently upgraded General Aut-X’s, aged chassis, the super tactical droid's memory core launched the outstanding orders within his programming, and Aut-X automatically prioritised them. At the command of his personal armada, the tactical droid disappeared from Confederate space to launch an invasion of Christophsis without reporting his activities. For the last few weeks, the Confederate Government has been largely unaware of what has been taking place in the Christophsis sector, assuming the communications blackout was a side effect of recent solar storms which often swept through the planet’s atmosphere.

But finally the disappearance of large amounts of war material from the foundries of Geonosis led to an investigation. Following the trail of unauthorised cargo shipments, an expedition to locate General Aut-X suddenly discovered the full extent of his activities on Christophsis.

Now a full blown war is underway on the surface of the planet between Aut-X's forces and the local planetary defense force. It’s up to the CIS to intervene between the General and the local military to bring this conflict to an end.

Objective 1: Opportunity. Aid in the current assault on the planetary capital (This would be good for any droids or dark aligned characters who want to provide support to Aut-X). The ultimate goal is to control the planet, and as long as you’re coordinating with your fellow writers to minimize casualties to the CIS or civilians.

Objective 2: Space stuff. Deal with the remnants of the planetary defense fleet and avoid the raging solar storms. Good for fleeters.

Objective 3: Diplomacy. Attempt to negotiate with the mercantile oligarchs to bring about a truce and help with relief efforts to the civilian population caught up in the middle of the conflict. If negotiations reach the stage where Aut-X needs to be disabled try to slice into his circuitry and stop him. Good for politicians and hackers.

Objective 4: Protection of resources. Guard Princess Thais Kallisto's mine on Christophsis from looters taking advantage of the conflict to steal precious metals. An opportunity to steal something for yourself.

Objective 5: Travel with other Mandragora and friends to mine crystals for a personal lightsaber.

In the weeks following Aut-X's initial invasion, Christophsis had transformed into a total war-zone. The ongoing battle in both space and land had caused a large amount of devastation. Wreckage of ships from both sides littered the atmosphere, occasional chunks of debris crashing down towards the surface to cause havoc on the settlements below, while the armies of General Aut-X and the planetary defence force clashed across the surface of Christophsis, the most bloody of battles currently taking place within the planetary capital.

Aut-X had waged a campaign of relentless orbital and artillery bombardment upon the city and it's defenses, leaving vast portions of the outer districts utterly destroyed, leaving nought but rubble and the dead. He had softened his enemy up, or so he had initially believed. Despite such fierce destruction, the defence forces occupying the city were waging a fierce resistance against the legions of battle droids sent to eliminate them. Bloodshed filled the streets as torrents of blaster fire were exchanged between both sides. Yet the General would persist in his efforts. He was not programmed to hesitate in such a crucial operation. His sole purpose was to bring about the victory of the Separatist Alliance and ensure the utter destruction of the Galactic Republic, and he intended to fulfil that objective as long as he functioned, the rest of his memory involving more recent affairs completely subsumed under layers of incomplete objectives and scrambled code...

Christophsis Surface
Objective: 1

This was a complete fething mess. She wasn't really 100% sure what was going on, but that didn't really matter too much, at this point. After a quick trip to Coruscant, she had back-up: her old gang, the Street Rats. 60 of the toughest gangsters this side of the Galactic Core, on a shuttle. All she knew was that a Confederate general, [member="Aut-X"], was down on the planet attacking with droids, and he was encountering resistance. That's all she really needed to know.
Her Rats had blasters, they had vibroblades, and they had experience fighting in urban environments. Not to mention, they had her leading them. When the blaster touched down, they were off, behind a building. She had them form up, then she peeked her head around the corner, and saw the slaughter. The air was choked with blaster fire. Her Rats were mostly unarmored, and were not front-line soldiers. Chit.
"Alright, listen up! We work for the Confederacy, now. That means we got a cause, and that means we gotta get this done. These clankers are with us, and the guys shootin' at 'em aren't. That means you see somethin' that ain't a droid, you shoot it. We go through the alleys, and we flank 'em, just like on Coruscant."
It wasn't Sith or cops they were fighting this time, but that didn't really matter. What mattered was winning this planet. So, she drew her revolvers, and started to lead her guys down a back alley, which hopefully would let them flank the defenders and give 'em one hell of a fight, and maybe even win the day. The Rats were on the job.

Objective: Defeat Planetary Defense Fleet
Post I

In an instant, the Tomuon Fleet came out of hyperspace into Cristophsis' orbit. There, the Planetary Defense Fleet stood guard, awaiting their enemy, the Confederacy. The Tomuon fleet consisted of some of the most powerful warships of the Confederate Navy. At the head of the fleet was the CSS Wraith Warden, the capital ship under the command of Admiral Zahori Denko. Along with the Wraith Warden was several other capital ships: a Lucrehulk, several Sovereigns, several Strillas, and a dozen Crusades. The strength of the Tomuon fleet eclipsed that of the Cristophsis defense fleet and Zahori knew that fact.

The communications between the fleet opened up. "This is the Wraith Warden. All ships, report." a communications officer relayed through the comms through the Tomuon fleet. Once all the commanding officer's of their respective ships reported in, the comms officer of the Wraith Warden turned to Zahori. "Admiral, all ships reporting in. We are prepared to engage." she stated.

Zahori looked out of the viewport of her starship, scanning the defense fleets makeup. "All ships, fire when ready." Zahori commanded. In almost an instant, all ships of the Tomuon fleet began to fire upon the Christophsis fleet and they, in return, fired back. Swarms of droid starfighters poured from the many hangars of the Tomuon fleet and began engaging the Christophsis fighters. Hundreds of dogfights ensued as the Tomuon fleet pushed closer towards the Christophsis fleet. "We will punch a hole in their defense. How large the hole depends on whether they're smart enough to surrender before it's too late.."

Why was she not surprised that this was happening, why did history always seemed to come around and do the exact same things all over again, well minus the Jedi this time around. What had caused this invasion, she did not know, was she going to follow orders and help what ever person was leading the ground forces, most likely, orders where order, and it had been a while since her last pitch battle.

Yumi made her way to the main hanger, double checking her gear along the way, "When are we departing for the surface"? she asked to their pilot as he strapped on a flight helmet, "Once the main fleet punches a hole through their defenses we are good to go, just make sure you and your men are ready to hit the ground once where planet side, its supposedly very hot down there". "Copy that, everyone on board now, strap yourself in and await my command". Once by one Apex commandos entered the drop ship, all strapping in as the familiar feel of the ship dropping out of hyperspace could be felt all around.

Things where about to get interesting

Aya Clarke

Lady Clarke, Saint of the Crimson Eagle
  • Location: Dropship
  • Objectives: 1 (Assist in assault) and 6 (Obligatory BYOO: Locate General Aut-X and determine his state)
  • Equipment: Sword and Plate armor
  • Bodyguards: Two Magnaguards
"Bring us in, I don't want to waste any time. General Aut-X is still AWOL and I want him found sooner rather than later." Aya Clark had her helmet tucked under her arm, as her dropship (among others) prepared to descend to the planet's surface. She had a plan in mind for how she wished to tend to things, Aut-X was a dangerously bad loss if he could not be recovered, not to mention as the other ranking General it was Aya's responsibility to ensure that everything went according to proper ethical standards. Something that her counterpart was not known for, to put it nicely. So Aya was starting her briefing to all dropships waiting to descend, the encrypted channel reaching [member="Kurenai Yumi"] with ease. "Remember your objectives. Watch your targets on arrival, you are cleared to engage military forces but watch your targets. Civilians and surrenders should be properly recognized. We are not savages. Aut-X's forces have already done severe damage, so we are here to mitigate that. Once we're given the all clear, we begin the full scale deployment."

Given that [member="Zahori Denko"] seemed in charge of the fleet, the all go signal was hers to give. In the meantime, Aya had her communication systems signal to [member="Aut-X"], alerting them to the arrival of the 'reinforcements' as he might interpret it. He was also to be given notice of a prominent General's (her own) impending arrival. The moment she would get the signal to begin the descent, she would have every available transport head down to the surface, just a short distance behind the main force. Her intent was to bolster the main force, and provide herself the opportunity to get close enough to Aut-X to find out the nature of his unexplained disappearance.

The drop ship shuddered, lights flickering, as a graze from a turbolaser brushed the shields. Gripping the bar that ran the length of the hold Derek shook his head lightly at the thought of a full on hit by several turbolasers that would instantly turn them into free floating atoms in the vacuum of space. Not the way he wanted to go.

Looking at the unit within the ship he allowed a slight smile to dance across his face. As viceroy and head of the Siskeen System Planetary Union he was given a royal guard. One that he had no use for. Days pouring over accounts, corporations, new laws and other such nonsense were only broken by the trivial and tedious council meetings that only served as an arena for jockeying for power. When he had received the call for assistance Derek had chosen to answer personally, and where he went the Guard went.

Another shudder rocked the ship as they hit the atmosphere and began descending. The mixture of troops looked lazily benign as neither the idea of entering the fray of battle or the possibility they would die on the transport registered on their faces. For some, there was good reason as they were elite battle droids. For others it was experience rather then an apathy for life that left them sitting unconcerned. Worry only about what you can affect, not the situation that you have no power over.

The five drop ships careened toward the surface still enginin engaging in evasive maneuvers until they were near enough the planet that they began flying across the ground heading for their objective. Reaching up he tightened the strap of his plastoid chest plate and shrugged his shoulders to reseat his shoulder holster. An E-11 blaster rifle hung across his back on the strap.

As they neared the drop point he watched his troopers check their weapons and inventory preparing for battle. Tightening his grip on the bar his body swayed when the ship swiftly slowed. The ramp lowered and he moved, leaping from the ramp and landing on the planet. Nearby four other drop ships unloaded their cargo as well. The hundred soldiers moved forward, the scene of battle already having started.

Before them the mine was under attack, the defenders woefully out numbered by the pirates and marauders who sought to use the cover of planetary battle for their own gains. Shouldering the rifle his eye drifted to the scope.

"Engage."

The battle in space was grueling on a bit longer than Zahori had anticipated. It seemed that the Christophsis defense fleet was quite formidable. "Finish off that cruiser so we can send in the ground troops." Zahori commanded. Explosions signaled the defeat of the cruiser Zahori spoke of. The ship broke into pieces as it's defeat was met swiftly. This gave the fleet the chance to unleash the dropships towards the planet. The green lights within the hangars illuminated, signaling the dropships to depart.

Meanwhile, the Tomuon fleet continued moving closer and closer to the Christophsis fleet, bearing down on them with their superior strength and numbers. And, suddenly, one of the Sovereign heavy cruisers was destroyed, ending in a wicked display of fiery explosions. The burning carcass of the ship floated off in space. Zahori scoffed as one of her ships was defeated. "Acceptable loss. Keep pushing forward." she demanded. Zahori could see the dropships slipping past the defense fleet and heading for the surface. The vulture droids managed to keep most of the interceptors busy and away form the dropships, but some losses were had unsurprisingly. "There is no victory without sacrifice." she uttered to herself.

Objective 4: Defend the Mines, Approval from Metus
Location: Mines
Gear: Linked in Character Sheet
NPC: Kinta Saud

The flames roared to life as I spread them among the marauders and pirates who were attacking the mines. Kinta was off to my right using her double bladed lightsaber and threw it into a group of men, only for them to fall over in pieces. She also used her lighting to cast among another group and lock them all down to their knees. Taking that instant, I threw both of my hands out. Grabbing onto their clothing, and using the sparks from lighting to ignite them all in flames. Their screams could be heard over the roaring of battle.

"Right."

Upon the telepathic hint from Kinta, I turned to my right and put up both of my arms in an X formation above my head. At that moment, a sword came down in between the X. I threw my arms up, and thrust a kick out. Hitting the man square in the chest. Followed up by a right hook powered through the force. Hearing a loud snap, I was sure the man was dead, or paralyzed.

There were more coming. Trying to push their way into the mines. Honestly? It was just myself, Kinta, and a few other troopers who were fighting this onslaught of pirates and marauders. They had planned for this. They were attempting to get into the mines through the easiest way possible. All the others were more difficult due to cave ins or such.

"They better pay is well Ignis, or I will have your hide."
"Trust me, they will pay well."

The CIS was newly reformed, and due to one of their companies, I wanted a few things from them. Working it off, I was told I was aiding in their invasion or dominion or take over of this planet. Hence why I was here. I wanted to earn my items. it was great that way because then I didn't have to spend so many credits. Speaking of the CIS, it seems like they finally came in to aid us. Looking up, I saw drop ships land and barely touch the ground to drop off reinforcements to aid us. As they came from the right side, I turned around to the other troopers. Throwing up hand signals for them to see. they were to rotate their position to our left. Essentially pinching them.

Getting onto the comm with the CIS, I offered my name as current head honcho here. Very likely, someone else of a higher rank was here, or just someone else who would take the lead from here.

"Ignis, Currently aiding in leadership down here. They attacked before you guys could get here. Who is taki-"

As I was speaking, I got hit in the side of the head with the pommel of a vibrosword. The man was about to bring it down when I force pushed. he was thrown into the air a few feet, where I grabbed a hold of him, and threw him into his own allies.

"Someone taking command?"

Objective: Dropping off supplies at a Mine

The Crimson Trawler came out of hyperspace with a jolt. Sara rolled over with a groan as she felt the ship transition back to real space. The brunette rubbed her forehead groggily, trying to muster the willpower to get out of bed. She looked at the clock. She'd slept for only four hours, most of the time she had been in hyper space the girl was having trouble getting used to this stuff still. She had never been off her planet until a few months ago, it was taking time to get used to this stuff.

She swung her legs over the edge of the bed, stretching and yawning. She grabbed her shirt off the side table and pulled its loose-fitting white form over her. She slipped into some black tight leggings and matching leather boots before wearily clomping out into the hall. Through the viewport she could see the surface of Christophsis. It was ok, not the worst she had seen, but not the prettiest. But to a young woman still working out her wonder of the galaxy, it was still an amazing sight. Her brown eyes lit up as she saw the surface bellow, and her fatigue began to drain away just a bit. [member="Koda Zaylr"] was right. This job had its benefits. A slight smile crossed her face. Koda was special, she had found Saria when she needed her most, and was there to help take her under her wing. Without her, Saria couldn't imagine she'd still be alive, let alone fed at all.

She stretched her arms up arching her back with a high-pitched yawn. She needed some caf before they made it planetside. She shuffled down the hall to the little lounge they had. Thank God there was already a pot of Caf on the warmer. Saria hurried over and poured herself a cup in one of the plastic cups, adding to it a few cubes of sugar and enough creamer to turn it from dark red to light tan.

Lola had wanted to call the Aurore-Class II, The Freed Slave. The name represented, not only the Zygerrian slaver ship being released from its own metaphorical bondage of carting hundreds of slaves around the galaxy to eager owners, but also signified the freedom that the An’Arachs had now that they were mobile.

But Averin was right. They could not get attached. Thus the ship became The Holdover.

As the Wynn credits dwindled, Lola scanned the holonet for want ads and came across a temporary job for mercenaries on Christophsis which entailed being a glorified security guard of some sort. Truth be told, the CIS had to hire mercenaries as all of their military forces were deployed trying to prevent the skirmish between General Aut-X and the local Christophsis defense force from becoming a full scale war.

As they came in for a landing, Lola peered at the viewscreen and said, “I think I know what we’re going to guard. Those look like crystal quarries.”

She gave Averin a knowing look. Green crystals, blue crystals, rainbow crystals, feth any kind of crystals would fetch a ton of credits on the black market.

But could they avoid detection from not only the mining operators but their fellow CIS appointees as they tried to loot anything that wasn’t tied down in the Kallisto Mines?

Averin had freely admitted to Lola that The Freed Slave a was an amazing name. Far better than his suggestion The Holdover. Which is why it had been vetoed, he could see himself growing fond of the ship if he thought of it in those terms and he didn't want to keep it. Beyond the fact that it didn't match his aesthetic tastes, he didn't want to be shot at for flying a slaving vessel. So they'd christened the tub The Holdover and Averin was eager to get ride of it.

Which is why he looked immensely pleased when his wife pointed out the crystal mines. "Well, do you think that anyone would mind if we helped ourselves to a tip? So long as they still have the mines it should be fine shouldn't it?" He says with a grin as he gets ready for a fight, strapping his sword and blaster pistol to his belt.

Kurenai put her finger to ear as Clarke detailed mission objective and rules of engagement for the landing party, "I would still like to know how this invasion started? I do not recall any planning or meetings about it". The entire fact that the general super battle droid seemed to be already on the surface raised some suspicions, if memory served her correctly the droid had served the original CIS during the clone war, most likly having hundreds of battle plans ready to be used for almost any upcoming invasion. Seeing as how this specific world had been at the brunt of several battles, and was bordering the new CIS area of influences..... "Fucking droids and there malfunctions".

All she could do was mentally sigh as the green light was given for the drop ships to start their approach, following the head ship that contained [member="Derek Dib"], she was confused by the fact the politician came, but maybe it was just a mando thing. The trip to the surface was not impeded as much, the cruiser that would have most likely caused the most problem being taken out by [member="Zahori Denko"] fleet, giving them an almost clear run, despite a few turbo blaster shoots here and there.

The landing craft dogged and weaved between the giant skyscrapers that dotted the city, blaster fire and other sorts of dangers, finally coming to a landing zone behind the main battle lines. The sight of droids assaulting en mass bringing back very old and young memories, "This place no different from the holo new back then". Upon exciting the drop she she opened a com line to [member="Aya Clarke"], "What is the current status of our main froces in the AO".

Objective: Dropping supplies off at a mine.

The sharp trill of an astromech jolted Koda from her sleep. She glanced groggily over at the little droid and yawned, rubbing her eyes. She had fallen asleep in the pilot's chair. "Morning, Copper. We almost to Christophsis?" The droid whistled in response and Koda watched the vortex of lightspeed fade around them. Below them was the aqua blue planet, its surface covered in streaks of green like a spider web. Koda sailed above the planet until she was nearer the coordinates for the delivery, then began the Crimson Trawler's descent. She pushed the ship forward, feeling it tremble slightly under the atmospheric pressure before breaking through. Her scanners beeped and she glanced over. "We're near some mines. There are a lot of ships in this area too." She hummed slightly, but didn't think much of it.

"Copper, set us down." Leaving the controls to her golden copilot, she headed back to the lounge, giving [member="Saria Messoa"] a warm smile. "Good morning," she went over to the warmer, pouring her own mug of Caf. "Did you have a good sleep?" She took a long sip, feeling her tiredness lift and her spirits rise. She would wait for the girl to answer before nodding. "We'll be landing soon, Copper's at the helm now. Do whatever you need to to get ready then meet me in the cargo hold." Finishing off her drink, she set the cup in the sink to be washed later and headed to her bunk to grab her things.

Objective: Deliver supplies to the Mine

She sipped on the delicious, creamy mixture. The hot liquid went down her throat with a welcoming burn. She smiled back at Koda and waved, still not fully awake. "Morning."

She stirred the mix in her cup with a little black bendy straw, yawning. Saria set her cup of caf down and gave herself one more stretch. She arched her back forward, locking her fingers behind her and feeling it all stretch out. Satisfied, she rose to her full height again, unlocking her fingers and grabbing her cup of caf off the counter.

Koda Zaylr said:
"Did you have a good sleep?"
"Mmmhmm," Saria mumbled from behind her cup. "I'm still getting used to hyperspace. Makes me feel weird."

She noticed Koda was still wearing what she was when they left Onderon. Sara could guess she must have slept in them--or she just didn't care and wore the same thing she did before take off. Koda may have been sort of a tom-boy, but Saria was a very girly girl. She gave Koda the once-over, just to make sure.

Saria held up a single finger, telling Koda to wait, "Okay, but we have to lay down a ground rule. You may be used to being able to sleep in and wear the same clothes for days but that won't fly anymore. You gotta take care of yourself better here forward. Your a pretty girl," Saria felt her cheeks color at the statement, but she tried to carry on like it was nothing. "And, well, it--it would be a shame for you to not take care of yourself. So, if your not dressed in something new and clean when I get down there, then, well, um," she set her cup down, Saria didn't really have any leverage or any thing to use to bluster Koda into doing what she wanted. So instead she crossed her arms and frowned, her face still pink with embarrassment, "I won't be happy, got it?"

When Koda walked away, Saria could feel herself overcome with embaressment. Any lingering fatigue was far gone now. She gulped down her caf before hurrying into her room. The woman strapped her DL-44 baster pistol to her side, taking it from its resting place against her bunk. Next, she seized a hairbrush from her new make-shift vanity and began to quickly brush her hair, pulling it back in a tidy pony tail. After a quick brush on of make up, blush, lip gloss, and mascara, the woman took a step back and examined herself in the mirror. She did everything like the holozine said to give her the Outer Rim Spacer look, but something was still off. Saria sighed, resigning herself to her look before making her way to the cargo hold where Koda was probably waiting.

The moment the lights went green, Aya grabbed a tight hold on the handrail above her, letting the dropship surge forward in its dive down to the planet below. Even without the cruiser that Zahori Denko had destroyed, it was a rough ride down, more than a couple of dropships being grazed or shot by the rest of the fleet. The benefit to droids, Aya hardly felt their loss as she would her soldiers back home. Still, she made sure their signals would be tracked, in the event they happened to have any droids survive the descent or useful supplies that made it to the surface. Aya's own transport, thankfully protected by other dropships, hardly got flak on the initial approach, breaking the atmosphere with ease. Of course, it broke off somewhat from the main force, letting the knight get something of a bird's eye view of their landing zones, and have adequate time to access CIS transmissions planetside without worrying about troops assaulting the dropship from the ground.

Aya hummed as she began to compose an idea of the battleground. CIS forces were facing well entrenched defenses across the main host, but Aut-X was a general for a reason. The lines were hammering the defenses hard, and though droids were falling so too were defenders, at an acceptable rate for the most part. However, she was able to pick up on chatter across droids in two... three... five sectors facing adversaries more prepared than the main front. She didn't know much about Yumi's capabilities, nor which troops she had along with her, and so opted to direct her towards what she thought to be the simplest to solve. "Yumi, I'm having coordinates sent to you now. The main host of our forces are doing acceptable, the droid commanders should be more than capable enough in helping to turn the tides a bit more hastily. However, troops at these coordinates are facing heavy fire from defenses, apparently made from what I assume to be the remains of original CIS AAT's. We don't have enough room there to bring in the heavy hitters, think you can handle it?"

Hopefully she would, as the dropship Clarke was riding in was about to have a bad day. As it began its final descent, locking on to the coordinates of what she assumed to be the forward command center, a rocket from the opposing forces locked onto her vessel. Unsurprisingly, the ship lacked maneuverability, but fortunately they weren't so far off the ground as to give them no hope. The rocket blasted into the side of the ship, causing it to careen and scrap against buildings on its way down, amusingly preventing it from simply plummeting down. That gave Aya enough time to curse loudly, strap herself into a safer seat, and wait for the dropship to finally impact the ground and hopefully survive.

Survive, of course, it did, though aside from her it seemed she had only the two Magnaguards left, who were cautiously guarding the woman as she pushed herself up out of the wreck. Sword, check, magnaguard electro staffs, check. She shook her head and opened a com line directly to Aut-X, or at least his forces. "This is CIS General Clarke, my transport has been shot down en route to forward command. Lock onto these coordinates and get here before I have to walk there myself. Believe me, I'm not having a good enough day to be in an agreeable mood if I have to." Both her Magnaguards watched calmly as she repeated the first parts of her transmission, waiting for confirmation by Aut-X or any of his commanders. After all, while she did have her own forces, she was closer to the FOB than her forces at this point.

The winds howled where they perched, cold breath whisking past the top of a massive crystal. The woman known as Psyona to some, Grace to others, knelt, her gloved hands setting down a glowing red pyramid before her. She wasn't sure if the others knew where she was, or if they were planning to join her. She didn't care, not enough to wait around in the freezing cold of these heights. Still, she sat atop the spire of crystal, watching the fire of war in the distance. Slowly, deliberately, the Sith sat. Careful words of an incantation crossed her lips, whispering for her parton's protection. One never knew what the old Sith had hidden in these holocrons.

As she finished, her hand reached out, fingers brushing against the crystalline structure. Almost as she did, the figure in the center sprung to life. He stood in dark robes, armor plating his chest. Yellowed eyes stared at her from behind a mop of black hair. The gatekeeper didn't speak for a moment, simply staring at her with dead eyes.

"Darth Cadeus." The words came out flat. Unflinching. "I come to learn from you."

The entrance of the mine was swarmed with pirates, marauders, thieves, and mercenaries. The distraction of a planetary war had proven too great an opportunity for those looking for a quick credit to pass up. And the mines were a very lucrative target. Previous crystals mined, collected, and packaged were just sitting waiting for the transport ship to ferry them away to the open market. It was like they were gift wrapped for those currently attacking.

Tracking the attackers, Derek zoomed in on several who were raining blaster fire through the tunnel. A grimace crossed his face as he squeezed the trigger to fire on the group. Along either side of him the soldiers who had accompanied him opened fire, pouring a hail of death at the flank of the enemy.

As the attackers turned and began to return fire Derek rolled forward and crouched behind an outcropping, propping his blaster up and firing back. After several minutes he dropped low replacing the spent power cartridge. It seemed that every time he went for any potential diplomatic outings it always ended the same. Someone trying to kill him and he, always trying to save someone.

Shaking his head ruefully he rose back up and motioned forward with his hand. The plan was to advance in a tight cluster and pave a way to the mine, clearing the enemy as they went.

As the new Shaman of the Jart he made it a point to be aware of those who joined his pact and there roles among the jart during missions and the like, This time he joined a new recruit to his pact a young woman named [member="Lady Psyona"] who was a interesting creature as was almost all he has met in the past and now she was here away from the crystal city trying to open a holocron to one of the old sith lords and he wasn't about to miss the chance to also learn from this holocrons keeper but first they would have to break deeper and deeper into the holocron to get all we need. He watched as she opened and talked to the keeper in silence waiting for its response in the hopes that this keeper would be cooperative however its not always the case but he can hope, This saved him the trouble of trying to find this blasted thing later on and possibly have to pry it out of the hands of who knows who with who knows what at there disposal, He stood and waited for the gatekeepers response in the hopes of it being a positive.

Fighting was not always the greatest of ways to prevent someone from taking your crystals. Honestly, I didn't need them, and I was getting paid for protecting them. If they found out that I had taken stuff from them, while they were already paying me, then I might lose one, or both payments. Even as that may, Troops were coming to aid in the revolt that was taking place. Most were firing from cover of rock formations, or just running straight for us. Stupid on their decision, but makes it easier for me to take them down. As some of the men guarding the left side rotated, we had men to my right start firing on them.

"Back up Kinta. let them be pushed into us, or away from us."

She did as I asked. Using the mental connection from one another to our advantage, she just simply waked backwards. The twin blades of her lightsaber spun round and round. Redirecting blaster fire away form myself and her. I would reach out with the force to yank a man from cover. A second later, blasterfire would rain down on him from either side.

Some men moved forward to fill the spots of the fallen, and others fell back. Seeing what was going on. Wherever these pirates were coming from, either they went against their commands, or they were all acting of their own accord. Getting behind cover myself. The firing from the pirates was dwindling down. Likely some kind of a tactical retreat to gather their forces. All that would do is give us time to fortify our own forces. Getting onto the com once more because it seemed like no one wanted to take control,

"Rotate towards the entrance if you can. Regroup at the very least."

The forces of pirates all seemed to be from the same group for this little bout. They may have not expected any resistance, or their men were the clean up crew instead of actual forces. Either way, it was dwindling down just a tad. They would be back soon I knew it. In the mean time,

"You really need to not be so agressive."
"When fighting?"
"When speaking on the com. Speak easy and concise. No need for extra words."
"And why are you telling me this then?"
"So you can learn numbnuts."
"Fair."
