The timeline of the tremendously thrilling quest to save the life of [member="Coryth Elaris"] and destroy the vile box of pure maliciousness was extremely confusing. As a matter of fact, it was such a mess that simply thinking about it was more than enough to cause a headache. At the start of the quest, the Republic had still ruled Coruscant, the One Sith had barely been a blip on the radar and Cater had held sway over the Omega Protectorate. Now, untold ages later, the Republic had changed chancellors twice, restructured its government, lost its capital and was now at risk of collapsing due to the Sith blitzkrieg, the Omega Protectorate was now on its fifth Protector and plenty of Jedi had been captured or turned to the dark side.
All in all, the past few months had been very eventful. Or years. No one is really sure how much time had passed. Doubtless this would be a massive headache for any historian who was trying to make sense of things and write a book about it. Anyhow, life continued as normal. Or as normal as it could on the planet of ultrafeminist space elves.
Far away from the hospital that had been the centre of so much commotion and was still under heavy guard from Eldorai soldiers, Kaida Taldir was restless. For a change it was not about the question whether she was still a Captain or already a Seraph, since it's unclear when the Lost Kar'zun invasion takes place in relation tot his quest. After having read a bit in her book, she had watched the telly. More specifically she had watched a holodocumentary about Behemoths, the fearsome sea monsters that ruled the vast ocean of Kaeshana. The documentary had been interesting, but alas turned terribly sensationalist when the reporters started yammering about ancient Eldorai myths of an apex behemoth called Zakayur who may one day rise and drown Kaeshana if he is not beaten. Aside from getting several details of Eldorai mythology wrong, the reporters had prattled on about a being called 'Cthulhu' and Lotek'k...which had naturally resulted in fangirling about the thoroughly annoying Countess Kerrigan.
That said, the details about Adril Tythorin giving her life to slay Cthulhu had been interesting, though Kaida doubted she had been as much of a paragon as the programme made her out to be. Regardless, she still found herself restless and so now she was outside, standing before the apartment complex as she looked upon the sky. Night had fallen upon Santaissa, though the city did not sleep. There was still traffic in the sky, though a good deal more low-key than usual. In the distance noise could be heard, sounds of partying.
There was no storm, but it was raining and there was a cold breeze, though this did not bother her, even as raindrops dripped down her cheeks. She sort of had a working relationship with water and ice, after all. Why was she outside at this late hour? To try out something she had wanted to do for quite a while. She took a deep breath, seeking to banish a measure of uncertainty she felt at what she was about to attempt. Siobhan Kerrigan had succeeded and kept incessantly showing off at any moment. Kaida hoped she would not end up like that. Relying on this Force power was frankly a waste of energy and she liked to think that she tended to be more economical in the use of her powers. Lieutenant Tempest had managed as well and she was someone Kaida actually liked.
So with that in mind she gazed up upon the stars. There had been so many sleepless nights spent when she and Lavina looked upon them and wondered what was out there in the Galaxy. Well, now they knew. They had been able to fulfil their dream. Their time spent in exile after being banished for questioning the truths their people considered sacred had been filled with adventure. With peril as well, of course, but she had come out stronger for it. As they say, what did not kill you made you stronger.
She stood still for a while, waiting for the traffic to clear up a bit since, even though there were far less speeders and skycars in the air at this hour, it would be terribly awkward and also rather embarrassing if she ended up crashing into one because she lacked control. As she waited she concentrated deeply and focused intently. Concentration was etched over her features as she harnessed her Sciia and drew upon the awe-inspiring power of the Force, pulling it inside her. In a controlled, economic manner, though no less insistent. The Force was a powerful ally, though unlike a Jedi she thought not that it possessed a will. But it was a means to fulfil her duty to protect Kaeshana and its people.
Thus as she focused she harnessed its power to conjure up a wind. There was a cold rush as the spinning wind manifested, though rather than sweeping outward across area it manifested around her, becoming ever stronger and stronger with each passing moment as she utilised her powers to intensify it. This was not accomplished easily and strain could be seen upon her face, her eyes a crystalline blue. She sucked in air, then suddenly, with the Force flowing through her muscles to give them strength, she leapt into the air. Very, very high. The winds she had called engulfed her as she shot upward into the sky at great speed and carried her upward, propelling her towards high altitudes. She was still new to this and it showed as she seemed rather wobbly, shaking a good deal.
A speeder, which just happened to be shooting through narrowly avoided her, amidst much cursing on the part of the driver and the passengers when they had to take a sharp turn to steer away. For a moment she temporarily lost control, having been distracted by the sudden roar of the engines, and as a consequence seemed to be falling, the cold hard ground beneath her coming closer and closer as she descended to what seemed to be a very painful and most likely fatal collision, but then she caught herself and shot upwards, pushing herself to higher and higher altitudes until she was levitating above the white stone buildings for which Santaissa had become so well-known ever since Kaeshana had opened up to the rest of the Galaxy.
Rain continued pouring down, sluicing across walls and roof-tiles, dripping down her face and clothes, but she cared not. As the wind howled, Kaida took a moment to exhale the breath she had been holding as she looked down upon the beautiful city beneath her. In the far distance she could make out the White Citadel and the enormous ziggurat where the Star Queen resided. Her city. Not meant in a possessive sense, for she was just a soldier, but the city and the people she was dedicated to protect. Most of them did not know the truth behind the origins of their people like she did, they were ignorant of the more sordid and darker aspects of the Eldorai past, but that did not make them her people any less. For a moment at least she understood why Kerrigan loved flying so much. The woman was a queen and a pompous showoff, but nonetheless the Angelii could not deny that the feeling of taking off to the sky and leaving the world behind you - or rather beneath you - could only be described as glorious and so she let the winds carry her through the air and across Santaissa.
