A Wedding On Retalik: Take Two (Jak Sandrow)

"S-sorry. They're all I have left of home..."
Leyan didn't want to get in Jak's way or anything. So, she decided that she'd look for the soil and take care of these flowers by herself. That way, he didn't have to worry about it.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"My diet," he explained. "Meat is fine, but sometimes, you just can't beat good old-fashioned dirt."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

[Fun Fact, people actually do eat dirt IRL]

((OOC: *spits out iced tea* EW! I didn't need to know that! :p))
"You... Eat dirt? And meat?"
Leyan found this incredibly hard to understand. How could you eat animals? Or better yet, how could you eat dirt??

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Well, yeah," Jak said, frowning a little. "I don't eat plants; only their fruit, and that only occasionally. Meat provides basic nutrients, and dirt provides even more. So yeah. I eat dirt." He spread his arms. "I'm a plant!"

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

She nodded slowly with a still partially confused look on her face. Well, he wasn't Theowei. That much was absolutely certain.
"I'm sorry... I'm just unfamiliar with other customs. Theowei do not gather energy from animals or soil. We nurture plants, giving them life and nutrients. In return, they do the same for us."

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Oh, it's not a custom," Jak laughed dryly. "It's just my way of life, no one else's. Other people usually have a diet of equal parts vegetables and meat, with dairy products and grain products besides. I couldn't stand to actually eat any of the plants I grow."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

"Oh..."
Leyan looked down at the flowers still in her hands. They seemed to almost love her the way they were clinging to her fingers. She could understand why Jak might be bothered by eating something he'd grown himself. It would be close to eating your children.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"For me, to make plants grow, I actually ask them, and they grow as tall or as long or as wide as they can. Or I can change them," he said, a small twig forming on the end of his finger. It poked out of the tip, growing about 30 centimeters long. Once it stopped growing, it slowly twisted and bent over itself to form a miniature wicker-styled chair. "Stuff like that."

"So I only eat plants' fruits, because those are intended for consumption by animals or sentients."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

"We only ever eat the fruits as well. If it's something like a carrot or a squash, we say a prayer to thank them for growing and providing us with energy. We never take without giving back."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak nodded. "Makes sense. Half the time I wonder if the plants just do what I ask, because they're so curious to see something as almost-unheard of as me. Still, it must not be that original if there are a whole planet of them down there."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan had never quite thought of plants like that. In her opinion, they were always talking to one another. She was a person who could hear them. They would be curious of her because of this.
"What I can do... Very few Theowei have been known to do. We can't all speak to the life around us. I think that the plants respond to us because for once, someone else can understand what they're saying."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"That could be it." Jak nodded. "Recently I had the chance to just isolate myself in the middle of the forest, and listen to the trees and the plants talk with one another. It's very calming."

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak shrugged. "Most of the time they're talking about important tree stuff, which I'm usually out of the loop for. But sometimes they talk to me, and we talk about the planet, what weather conditions are happening where right now... Usually boring stuff." He gave her a half-smile. "A meadow is a bit more gossipy, with stories going all around about who pollinated whom, how well the soil is holding up, things like that."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan smiled a little. She looked back down at her flowers.
"These little ones... I think they're thanking me for not putting them in the drawer. They're wondering exactly where we're going. They also seem a little bit thirsty."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak reached out a little with his Force presence, and confirmed her thoughts. "That's actually exactly right. Here, um..." He rummaged in the back till he got a small tray, which he wiped off. "Put them in here," he suggested. When she had done so, he filled the tray with a small layer of water. "There... that should fit on the nightstand, I think."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan gently patted each little bloom with her finger.
"If you need anything, I'll be here to check on you later."
She turned toward Jak.
"So, um, where are we going?"

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Well, currently we're going to Lok, but since that's all the way on the other end of the galaxy, it could take a few days to get there, and since I'm low on fuel, I'm making a stop at Kashyyyk first." He smiled. "You'd like it there."
