A Wedding On Retalik: Take Two (Jak Sandrow)

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"No, you need to get to bed." Jak was insistent. "It's never a good idea to wear yourself out unless absolutely necessary... and this isn't absolutely necessary, so get some rest."

Finally, Leyan gave in. She was too tired to be stubborn anymore. She nodded sleepily, sitting the bolt next to her flowers.
"Are you sure you want to give up your bed? I could always make a place for myself on the floor..."

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"No, you get the bed. The room locks from the inside." He gently pushed her along to the door. "Get some rest, I'll be in the pilot's seat if you need anything."

"O-okay..... Goodnight, Jak."
Leyan then left the cockpit and went back to his sleeping quarters and closed the door behind her. She didn't have anything to put on for sleep. So, she carefully removed her shiny silver dress, folding it and placing it on the end of the bed. She then got under the covers. Before she let herself drift off, she took hold of the glowing pendant on a silver chain around her neck.
"Vee' i' orod erin, ikotane uma Melamin ten' lle. Quel kaima, amin Rythar..."
She whispered softly in her native tongue. She then fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Night."

He turned back to the cockpit, and, using the Force, bent the hydrospanner into a pretzel. "Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid! Idiot!" he hissed. "The hell are you kidnapping a princess for!?!?!?!?!?"

---

He awoke some time later to the quiet but insistent bleeping of the hyperspace exit alarm. Rubbing his eyes, he yawned and stretched, turning off the alarm. They were only a few minutes out of Kashyyyk space.

Leyan slowly opened her eyes. This... This wasn't her room. This didn't even look like the palace! Where was she?! How did she get here??!! She sat up, momentarily afraid. But then all of the memories from the previous day came flooding back. She'd been married... She tried to kill herself... Jak saved her. And now she was traveling a galaxy she never really knew existed with him.
Leyan put her wedding dress back on as she had nothing else. She quietly walked back to the cockpit, careful with her footsteps so that Jak wouldn't wake if he was still asleep.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He was so focused on docking fees and expenses that he didn't hear her until she was right beside him. "DAAHHH!!" he yelped, leaping up out of his seat. "Agh... don't do that..."

Leyan cringed, backing up a little.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't want to wake you if you were still trying to sleep..."
She said quietly. Her face was similar to an apologetic puppy's.

"Yes. Your bed is very nice. Thank you for letting me use it. I hope you slept alright, too."
Leyan sat down, looking at her lap.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Oh, yeah, I'm good." Actually, he had a bit of a crick in the neck... but it could have been worse.

"So we're gonna be dropping out of hyperspace in..." Jak checked the timer. ".... four, three, two, one..." The small ship slammed out of hyperspace. "Eh?"

A large blue-green planet dominated most of the view from the windows. "And that is Kashyyyk."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan leaned closer to the window, looking at the planet in front of her.
"Surely it must be wild. There's so much green... I don't see any signs of cities anywhere."

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Nope, it's very populated. Ahh..." Jak checked the stats. "About 50 million, give or take. Mostly Wookiees." He put on a headset, and took control of the craft from the autopilot.

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

50 million... Leyan was still dumbfounded. She looked over at Jak to watch whatever he was doing. She must look a little childish, being amazed and fascinated by the smallest things.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Once they had neared Kashyyyk orbital space, Jak put up one finger, to listen to the comm. "Basic, please?" he asked. "Thanks. This is the shuttle Innocuous requesting permission to land, refuel and resupply." He paused. "Bay 173, roger. Oh, 123. 123? Bay 123. Thank you. Have a wonderful -" Jak drew his mouth in a thin line. "Day..." He pulled off the headset. "Guy hung up on me. Figures; this doesn't exactly look like the most lavish ship."

Leyan vaguely wondered what language was being spoken before Jak requested basic. She also wondered why the trees started to rise high above them as they made their descent. How was that even possible?
"This place is very strange..."

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak looked over at her in mild concern. "Do you wanna stay here? I'm good to go out and fuel up by myself."

The ship swooped over to land delicately and precisely on the landing pad of Bay 123.

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

"No. I want to look around a little, if that's okay."
No way was Leyan passing up an opportunity to explore Kashyyyk. Even if it was just to look up at the trees.

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Yeah, that's fine. Just... you may want to stay close. The people here are tall..."

He headed aft to the boarding ramp, and, lowering it, warned her, "Try not to practice with the Force while we're here; some may take interest in you, and not in a good way." How in the world would he explain the Sith and the Jedi to someone who, until 14 hours ago, had never heard of the Force?

Before he got out, he buckled on his gun belt, and put a spare shiv in his boot. At her glance, he responded, "Safety precautions."
