A Wedding On Retalik: Take Two (Jak Sandrow)

Leyan thought for a moment. There was little more she could do with this leaf, besides make the tips turn a slight reddish color.
"I can only coax things to grow. I can mend them if they're sick or broken. I can sometimes make them change color a little bit. But that's it."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He nodded. "That's fine. Hey, that's more than what most people can do. Even with the Force."

A stem sprouted further from the leaves and a beautiful-smelling flower blossomed.

Leyan lightly felt the petals of the light pink flower.
"I was always told that it was a talent from the Theowen. Not many of us can form a relationship with the life the earth provides. It is something very highly praised."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He shrugged. "All I know is that it is perfectly entwined with life, and even non-life. It lets one manipulate the universe around him to a degree, through tiny little organisms called mini formicans, or something. I forgot what it was called, exactly.. Regardless, it basically means I can do this:"

The hydrospanner lifted off his palm and into the air, without any form of support.

Leyan's eyes widened. She gingerly reached out and poked the hydrospanner. It rotated a little, but continued to float in mid-air.
"This is the Force? It allows you to do magic tricks?"

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Not magic," he clarified. "It almost bends reality and physics around it." The hydrospanner floated back into its compartment, which shut without any outside help. A blob of water lifted up and separated in midair, becoming a floating, transparent smiley face. "With enough control, you can do just about anything."

The blobs of water dropped suddenly, and almost hit the instrument panel, but Jak caught it with the Force again, and gently poured it back into the water bottle. "It is partially through the Force, and partially through who I am, that I can control plants the way I do."

Placing a very small metal bolt on a flat part of the panel, he explained: "This is a metal bolt; it can be used for fastening items together, like a peg. I want you to try to lift this without touching it."

What? Jak wanted her to try? She wasn't so sure that was something she could do. She looked down at the little octagon of metal. How would she be able to use the Force if she didn't understand how to access it? Maybe if she thought about it hard enough... Leyan's brow furrowed as she started to will the bolt to move. She stopped thinking about anything else, focusing only on moving the bolt. Something within her felt like it shifted. At the same time, the bolt started to jiggle slightly.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak winced a little as the bolt jiggled. He could feel her Force presence move when she did so... it acted like a belligerent child who only reluctantly cleaned their room. He knew she could do better. "Very good; again - but this time, try to imagine the bolt rising, the same way you coax the plant to grow."

Leyan listened to what Jak said and tried again. Instead of just moving, she imagined it lifting off of the panel. She got a little closer to it as if to further her focus. She was almost gentle with the way she willed it to float. After a few long minutes, the bolt began to jiggle again. This time, however, it began to shakily rise from the panel. It made it about five inches up before it fell. Leyan let out a sigh, blinking a little.
"I'm sorry. I'm afraid I'm not as good as you are."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
Jak gave her an encouraging smile. "Hey, that's perfectly alright for a beginner; here," he said, giving her the metal piece. "If you get a chance, keep practicing in your spare time. Once you can get it to stay in place, without shaking, try spinning it in midair. Keep yourself busy."

[member="Leyan Viceritas"]

Leyan nodded a little, looking down at the bolt in her hand. She took another drink of water.
"Thank you.... For everything."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He gave her a soft smile. "No problem."

"Bathroom's back there, behind the sleeping quarters, if you want to freshen up a bit." She had flowers in her hair and a few tear streaks down her cheeks. "I'll be here, planning things out."

Leyan went into the small bathroom. She stared at herself in the mirror for a little bit. This was what she would've worn when she married Rythar. Toreyl even stole this. She splashed some water on her face, taking a minute to collect herself. She then proceeded to carefully remove the flowers and jewels. There was no use in wasting such lovely things, even if she didn't wear them again. After setting them aside, she then undid her hair. It fell gently down her shoulders and back.
Leyan gathered up the ornaments from her hair in her hands and returned to the cockpit.

Leyan's face made it very obviously less than happy at the moment, but she nodded anyway. No need to bring Jak's mood down any more than she already had. She held out her hands to show him the flowers and jewels.
"Is there a place where I can keep these? I don't want to get rid of them..."
[member="Jak Sandrow"]

"Yes. Thank you..."
Leyan began gently lowering the tiny objects into the drawer. She lingered when she got to the flowers. They were the only thing to come from Retalik's earth. It was like bringing a piece of home with her. She couldn't let them shrivel and die. Instead, she used some of her own energy to let them grow roots to hug her fingers as she did with the leaf from before.
"I... I can't kill them. I want to make sure they live."
