Act II The Spark of Revolution [Green Zone Open Thread]

"Well, I got here through what seemed to be a rift in the fabric of spacetime. I've done it once before, probably best explained later, but essentially that one had closed when I left it. I sensed it calling me back to it again, and I knew it had to have reopened. And so, mainly out of curiosity, I came back. Looking back on it, it may not have been the best idea, but I had to. And so, I explored around, keeping out of sight on the recommendation of a floating droid type thing and made my way here. Then, I found you guys and decided to stick with any familiar face I could get."
The hallway was absolutely covered in pipes of all sizes. He wondered what on earth this place was for. He guessed that was why someone had mentioned it being called "Pipeworld" earlier.
"Ok. So I assume we're rescuing someone of some form. Who would that be? And then another thing. What are we doing exactly? Like, what side are we on? Is this Empire a good one? Or is it more along the lines of the Galactic and One Sith Empires of old? One of those Drone things with the red marks on the side led me to believe the latter back when I first arrived." He said quietly as they continued down the hallway.

Ascendant followed the rest, looking over his new blaster, it was most interesting. He was intrigued at the possibility of using it battle. He was not certain whether he actually wanted to fight on such a personal level. He had never even taken part in a fist fight, to him the thought of seeing the form of your opponent as you destroyed them was alien. As the leader of a fleet he was only used to seeing the enemy ships, very rarely had he ever actually seen the enemy person he was attempting to destroy and usually that was after the person was already dead.

At last they arrived to a battle scene. There seemed to be peacekeepers everywhere. His automatic threat analysis showed nothing, the peacekeepers had never been programmed to be shown as enemies. A quick adjustment and he got immediate locks on several targets, all in bright colors that made them easy to spot. He raised the blaster and fired a quartet of shots at his first chosen target. The shots burned holes through and Ascendant carried his fire along the various enemies he decided to attack. This was not as hard as he had initially feared.

He heard the leader of the group call out for someone to try and sense their target. He was unfamiliar with this, it was interesting to see one organic react and close her eyes. He continued firing on enemies for a moment before hearing her respond. He spoke in response to her unasked question, "Then let's get going! The longer we sit here the longer it is before we get to our target."

"Then let's get going! The longer we sit here the longer it is before we get to our target."

"Indeed. In that case, let us be off!"

Nefertari began leading the way down the pipe. Eventually, they came to the intersection. One pipe led to the northwest, while the others two led off toward the north and the east.

"And I thought finding my way on the surface was difficult. What sort of madman is this emperor?"

The Jedi looked around and hung her head as she couldn't figure it out. She didn't notice the milky gray mass taking shape in the middle of the room sized pipe fitting.

Ghost Princess of the Empire
The energy mass took full shape, filling the area with light. At least, most force-sensitive beings would see it that way.

"Greetings, young ones. And greetings to both of you mechs as well. The one you seek hides in a building you can reach by two pipes. True and magnetic will put you inside, while a full quarter from there will take you farther from your objective. Remember that being off your intended course by a little may prove deadly, though it could just as well prove an advantage for your allies."

The ghost made solid contact with her living counterpart, telekinetically moving a tear of despair from her cheek

"Knight Sovint, do not fret over your shortcomings. Like many other things, you can overcome them.

The being of the force addressed the group once more

"If you are able to bring the empire down, you will bring peace to this galaxy. That, and you shall be able to return to your own."

The human child on [member="Nefertari Sovint"]'s back looked up

"Interesting...I believe I know that child's mother. The empire took him away from her soon after birth in order to keep her working."
The words the ghost said as she disappeared would echo through the Jedi's mind
"If possible, reunite them. It would possibly be helpful to the resistance. May the force be with you all."

The moment was upon them. She had been backed into a corner with no escape. They had cordoned off the area, and started the drones were now out in numbers enforcing a curfew to send citizens back to their homes. A broad grin split across his face as he looked to the abandoned building she had chosen to make her stand in. His eyes could not see her, but he could sense her reaction at seeing him. That meant she was probably up on the second floor in one of those dark windows.

He looked up to where he imagined she was and waved. That grin became even larger as he sensed the sudden jump of fear. Now she had looked upon her fate. Something brushed across the depths of his conciousness.

"My Lord," he whispered to himself. Truly, the Emperor was with him now to watch him work. This was the first step in restoring order to the city. One vagrant at a time they would be plucked from the city and taken far away. What was left would return to the order and peace the Empire bequeathed to them.

"Sir! We've lost men on the east side!"

"What?"

"Blaster fire, we think the rebels are trying to save her!"

Raziel's expression darked. "Keep them at bay, I'm going in after her alone."

Kay heard Nefertari say that she knew the way and decided to follow her. But she slid to a halt when she saw the ghost. There was a way to get home? You mean this wasn't all a bad dream or made up in her head?

"I'm all for going home. Let's go and help save her from the Peacekeepers."

She knew that they had to hurry, and so she did, following in the directions given, glad that the special lightsaber kept her hidden.

The warehouse was easy to spot as it was surrounded by soldiers. Other rebels were fighting and Kay could sense something dark in there too. She began firing her blaster randomly at the Peacekeepers, trying to distract them from the building and their quarry. Her blaster was still set to stun though. No doubt the others weren't as merciful.

Their pursuit had ended - for the moment - due to lack of direction, but several sources would lead them toward their goal - most notably [member="Mirror Nefertari Sovint"] who reminded him of someone, but he just couldn't put his finger on it... But somehow, it reminded him of his former Padawan, [member="Gherron Vael"].

But one thing was clear. If they were to bring peace to this galaxy, perhaps even get home... They would have to bring down this Empire. And for a moment, the Jedi Master would smile. For once! A real chance to make a REAL difference somewhere, even if this wasn't his own galaxy! He was a Jedi Master, and he had his job. This was his job, and he wouldn't miss the chance to make a difference for the world.

This was a not a world of peace... This was peace for some, chaos for the rest. Tyranny by every definition. Control.

He would not rest until he could stop it.

And the promise was that perhaps they would be able to return home as well when they did. That made their goal clear. He had people depending on him there... There was no way he was abandoning them now. With the "special" lightsabers keeping him and the rest of the group hidden, he would move with the rest of the group. But it wasn't long before the so called "Peacekeepers" had made their move. He waited for the moment, keeping close to [member="Lady Kay"]. Should they get too close....

Once more had the ghost of her mirror self had appeared to assist the resistance. Nefertari could sense a feeling of nostalgia from Master [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] and guessed he was thinking of Gherron. Before the man both of them cared about began his exile, he had promised to return someday. Nefertari longed for that time. Not just because she loved his looks, but his companionship as well.

A group currently composed of Nef, a kid, and a Zeltron pilot made its way up the northern pipe.
Some might say this looks like the beginning of a bad joke

"Hey babe, that ghost looks just like you. You know each other?"

Nefertari was slightly annoyed by the pheromones choking her in this small area, this reflected in her reply
"Let me answer that question with a question. Would you smooch a ghost?"

The pilot shut his trap at that. Nef guessed her question confused him

The moments which passed after that were silent. Light shone through to them. They had reached a floor drain.
"Could one of you pass me a lightsaber?"

A small hand passed an ornate hilt to her. The grate in the floor clattered on the duracrete as it was cut away by a teal blade and pushed from the hole.

Nefertari muttered a gunganese expletive under her breath. That noise would almost certainly alert any imperials nearby. And indeed, the knight could sense one close.

"Get looking, both of you. The empire is nearby, so be careful since the shadow cloak will not work here. Signal if you find our target."

The Zeltron disabled the safety on a blaster rifle while the child removed the lightsaber from the tool pocket of his boiler suit. The two headed off together while Nef remained behind.
Her duo of friends could probably handle peacekeepers. It was the more powerful imperial loyalists she was keeping an eye out for.

Nefertari began searching on her own. Through a gap in the items on the shelf, the knight made eye contact with an officer.

The peacekeeper raised a communicator
"Sir! The rebels are-

A spark flew from Nefertari's finger, hitting his hand and causing him to drop the communicator
"I would not try to pull such things if I were you."

[member="Raziel"] would receive his subordinate's partial message, followed by static
[member="Eralam"], [member="Thrukk Gulpdar"], [member="Vinskk Revamp"], [member="Kyber Salurra"], [member="Mark Sage"], [member="Ascendant"]

Several CADs would head out from the Peacekeeper perimeter. Their holographic bodies went dark and then started to project an adaptive camouflage, blending them in to the background. The disposable droids moved quickly, their advanced scanners searching for the attacking rebels to give the Peacekeepers a target. There was a mighty whine from above the warehouse and two Peacekeeper Drones descended. They weren't seen on the streets as often as they had once been. They twitched back and forth, large round bodies turning far faster than one would expect possible. The faintest iridescent shimmer revealed the presence of the advanced shield generator that would take a significant punishment from blade or bolt.

"Hold them off until reinforcements arrive," Raziel said to the nearest commander, marked out by his black pauldron. He delicately stepped across the detritus on the ground outside the factory. With a wave of his hand the doors before him opened up. "Come out!" he called, his voice echoing around the factory. "You must be tired of running now. Just make this easy on yourself."

"Kark."

Eralam was not much good at picking up on organic minds, but as they reached the surface, he could feel two things.

One, the place was crawling with Peacekeepers, and there were drones as well. How many he couldn't tell, but they were there.

Secondly, there was a dark presence approaching. It was vaguely familiar, something he had felt in passing before, but had never had to face personally. There were rumors, whispers really, that the Emperor had an enforcer of the old school, someone who knew the ways of the Force. Most folks these days were pikers. Even the really talented Force users working for the Empire were limited by a lack of formal training. This guy though, he was said to be good. Like, serious threat even to Eralam good.

They were in trouble.

The Shard thought for a moment, trying desperately to come up with a plan.

"Okay," he said, turning to the others. Some of them had sabers in hand, some of them had blasters. Perfect.

"I'm going to draw fire. Those of you with blasters, wait til the enemy starts shooting at me and light them up. You don't actually have to be able to hit them, but I would appreciate it if you tried. However, your goal is to keep their heads down while I get 626 out of the building. Those of you who know how to use your sabers, try and cover the others. If you can block incoming blaster bolts, that would be swell. If not, well, you're probably better off using a blaster. Less likely to chop off something you might miss that way."

Without waiting for confirmation, the Iron Knight opened himself fully to the Force. His presence was old, ancient, even. He had witnessed the rise and fall of empires before. Hell, he had witnessed the rise and fall of mountains. He was not a being prone to making rash or even particularly hurried decisions. If it weren't for the urgency of the situation, he'd have been perfectly happy waiting, watching, and planning for the perfect opportunity to strike.

There just wasn't time.

He drew his revolver, lit his saber, and stepped out of the shadows into a hail of blasterfire.

The blade whipped through the air, a line of argent fire, batting away scarlet blasterbolts seemingly of its own accord. Eralam's motions were mechanically precise. There was no wasted effort as he whirled across the open space. Every now and then, a bolt would slip past his guard. Only instead of smacking into his durasteel chassis, they seemed to vanish into a void. The old Iron Knight was a master of Absorb, and blaster bolts were simply another source of energy.

Even so, the fire was nearly too much. It was all he could do not to get bogged down in one spot, nevermind forward progress. That wasn't the point, however. He was trying to draw attention, both from the Peacekeepers and the dark presence he sensed nearby. If he could distract them long enough for the others to start suppressing fire, the prisoner would be able to make a break for it.

He was doing all he could. It was up to the others now.

Ascendant had been following the others, shooting a few peacekeepers but for the most part simply kept his rifle raised and conserved ammo. He was quiet, listening to the organics send orders back and forth, he was also watching for enemy movements. He tried to calculate movements, to better target his enemies. It was more difficult then figuring out the movement of ships on a spacial battlefield, there he could look at various scanners to see engine output and general direction. That alone could give him an idea of the enemy plans, but most of the time it only allowed him an insight into the movements and to better position his own ships.

On the ground it was very different. Unless the enemy was sprinting, they could move in almost any direction. That forced him to work and calculate more slowly and had to open himself to multiple options. This slowed his ability to fight, or at least to preempt battle tactics. However, the enemies that were digging in were much easier to deal with. In a stationary target he could calculate time between reloads of the enemy and get an idea of the number of shots each person might fire at a single time.

He nodded to [member="Eralam"] as the droid like being took command of the situation. Ascendant found a good piece of cover and used a combination of visual readings and sensors to find targets to fire upon. The arrival of the peacekeeper drones was disturbing, he knew of their strength. But he trusted that the Force users in their group would be capable of handling them. He focused his fire on the organic peacekeepers. This would get interesting he was sure.

Thrukk was breathing hard and fast. Enormous lungs gulped in huge volumes of air as he attempted to steady himself. He large hands struggled over the tripod for a moment. finally it came loose and he used it on a nearby contained to take aim.

"I'll cowre yer erse if ye want tae move up!" he shouted to Lady Kay. Whether it was the thin veil that separated the two Galaxies that let him feed of Chaos Thrukk's love of guns, or perhaps it was simply a few minutes of use in anger, but the repeater felt comfortable in his hands now. The bright white Peacekeepers made such obvious targets.

Kay nodded as she was further instructed, ever so glad that there was some sort of plan and it sounded like she didn't have to kill anyone. She was ever so thankful to have both Joshua and Thrukk by her side, rather than going into this alone.

On cue, as soon as Eralam started going in, she began firing her blaster randomly at the Peacekeepers, ducking when they fired back. As Thrukk said that he'd cover her, she nodded and remained low as she hurried towards a large trash bin that was closer to the warehouse. She fired her blaster rapidly, this time hitting some of the Peacekeepers and bringing them down one by one. Hopefully the others were spreading out to hit them all on all sides and cause a further distraction.

The chunk of metal came out of the shadows straight for his head. Yet it impacted the far wall with a resounding crash. its course unaltered. Raziel stood exactly where he had been. Another object came at him, and this time he was a visible blur as he stepped past it.

"This is all very rude," he called, striding purposefully in the direction the objects were coming from. "I'm going to need to find out how you survived the conditioning for so long!" he called.

"You'll never take me back there!" came a feminine call that echoed around the warehouse.

"You must have hidden yourself deep to stay out of our reach. I wonder what that was like for so many years. A passenger in your own body, watching us work," Raziel called back. He carried on moving forwards, but his weight was a few inches lower as he moved. Like a predator ready to strike.

She came out at him from the behind a pillar. One had grasped his forehead, whilst the other brought a shard of glass up to his neck. "I wish I could show you," she hissed. "But then I would become you."

"Please," he whispered derisively. The illusion dissolved in a cloud of smoke. She turned on the spot, looking for him. The glass in her hand cracked. A thousand tiny shards that caught the light floated free from her grip and bobbed before her. Raziel stepped out of the shadows. With the wave of his hand the tiny shards flew forwards.

Prisoner 626 fell to the ground, her hands and head bleeding from a thousand tiny cuts. Raziel stretched out one hand and she was pinned to the ground by an incredible unseen force. The skill he had was exponentially increased by the touch of the Emperor himself that he felt.

He paused.

Something caught his attention. The guards were being overwhelmed. He felt [member="Eralam"]'s prescence unfold in the Force like a bud opening to the sun. Metal girders cried out in protest as he ripped them from the walls and moulded them to his purpose.

"Later," he promised as he held her down. "The guests first. Then you."

The blasterfire, already dwindling, died down at once as the building began to warp from powers unseen. Eralam could feel the sickly sweet presence of the Dark side oozing out of the building like the malodorous aroma of a rotting corpse.

The Shard let out a shrill whistle, the unmistakable sound of a master calling a pet.

"C'mere little doggie!" he shouted above the sounds of screeching metal. "Who's a good boy? Who's a good little pet?"

He practically spat the last word, his voice leaking contempt.

"I'm sure the Emperor has a nice little treat for you if you bring him back a prize."

The Shard was running hot, the Force filling him up so entirely that it was hard to tell where it began and he ended. The myriad blaster bolts he had Absorbed were a potent source of energy, and combined with his own prodigious strength, his presence was more akin to a force of nature than a sentient being.

In his right hand, Eralam held his saber in a high guard, blade held above his head and angled at 45 degrees from the ground, tip pointing towards the sky. He was turned profile to the building, left foot underneath his body, right foot out in front. His Colt was in his left hand, held at waist level and aimed forward, thumb on the hammer and finger on the trigger.

In short, he was ready for a fight.

The Shard didn't expect to win. Eventually, numbers would wear even him down, and he had no doubt that more Peacekeepers were on the way. He just had to hold the Emperor's puppy off long enough for the others to escape.

Ascendant was glad for the minimal training he had had in blaster combat, he had been somewhat effective, shooting at least half a dozen of the peacekeepers. Probably more. He moved forward, taking cover behind whatever he could. At last it seemed that the enemy resistance had subsided to a degree that he could run forward towards the building. He watched as [member="Eralam"] practically tore a hole in the side of the hard building. It was a feat that astonished him.

He did not feel the Shard's power, neither being organic or a force sensitive he simply could not. He began walking slowly towards the building calling out to the other behind him. "Let's go. Almost there!" He could almost taste victory, something he had not felt in a long time. He had been kept out of battles for quite awhile but now he was taking part and this looked like a win. They almost had the target and then they could retreat to wherever they needed to be.

He raised his blaster as he reached the side of the hole that the powerful Shard had made in the building. He waited for the rest, not wanting to take on more than he could handle. He had learned his limits in his time alive.

PIPEWORLD

Kay watched as Ascendant moved towards the building, just to the side of the hole. Looks like that was the next move. She looked to Thrukk. "Keep us covered if you can, my friend. You're doing great." She then looked to Joshua and nodded towards the building, indicating her intentions.

She then took a few pot shots at some of the remaining Peacekeepers before hurrying towards the warehouse, stopping at the other side of the hole from where Ascendant stood. "Well...I guess the plan is to get in there and get her out as quickly as possible?"

Without waiting for much of a response, she stepped inside, the black saber and her blaster still in hand. She paused for a moment, feeling the Darkside being manipulated inside. But the Light was there too. Quietly she creeped further into the building, hearing the banter. Her focus on keeping her Force signature faded away when she saw the girl known as Prisoner 626 lying on the ground in a growing pool of blood. Kay looked to Joshua, knowing that he would have followed and whispered, "We have to get her out of here fast. Can you give the Resistance leader help in distracting the Darksider while I get her out?" She could almost see the Darkside holding the girl down, but it was all in her head, brought on by the heaviness in the air that it created.

It had all moved so fast. No one had been able to get a word in, and Mark tailed the others, hoping to see what the objective was or even who's side they were on. The man most resembling another jedi besides Master Sovint had blown a hole in a wall, and people were climbing in after him now.
"The leader?" he thought.
What would they face inside these walls? Was it worth it? He wasn't sure, but it looked to late to do much else besides dive in headfirst behind them.
"Let's do this."
Following behind the others, he climbed through the hole in the wall and pulled his lightsaber from the depths of his bag. He readied himself for whatever was in here.

Like lingering smoke, a dark energy field swirled around Raziel's form as he looked towards the robotic form of his challenger. It surrounded his form, enshrouding him in a dark field from head to toe. Raziel ignored the prone prisoner, his entire focus on the newcomer. In his head he kept his own personal archive of records. The Ministry of Inequality tracked almost every single Force User in the region, yet this one had slipped through their fingers. There was no hesitation as slid one foot forwards and dropped his weight into a starting form, both sabers igniting with the characteristic snap-hiss.

There was the sound of blaster fire being exchanged outside. It didn't matter. There couldn't possible be enough revolutionary souls in the city to challenge the Empire. He knew, he watched in and every one of them closely. Then a small voice in the back of his head reminded him of the odd reports from that morning. Individuals seen in multiple districts simultaneously.

Then he sensed something extinguish that sudden unsettling thought.

FOCUS. I NEED YOU NOW MY SERVANT.

"You are the child that didn't ask its mother before teasing the leashed hound," he retorted. "You are one of hers I expect."

Then the time for words was over. A brief flare of power and the ground between them trembled and broke free. It started in a rolling wave at Raziel's feet as the beams curled upwards. In a moment it was a wall of debris flying towards @Eralam. Raziel darted forwards, then swerved to the side, looking to come at the droid from the side.

He didn't even notice the others sneaking in behind him.

Bright blue beams illuminated the interior of the warehouse. The drone made barely a sound as it floated in after the group trying to rescue the prisoner.

giphy.gif
The matrix of beams spread all across the warehouse as they swept for targets. In a fraction of a second each of the rebels who had come to the prisoner's aid found themselves bathed in light as the drone picked out its targets. An angry red targeting lens focussed before the machine started to fire on [member="Lady Kay"]. Surrounding the drone was a faint iridescent shimmer, betraying the presence of an advanced energy shield that could turn away lightsaber and blaster alike. Its hull was comprised of an advanced ceramic/metallic mix that was beyond anything seen in the Chaos Galaxy.

District 10: Pipeworld
Imperial Forces: Special Agent <REDACTED> || Call-sign: Demon
Mission Objective: AGENT MIA // ESCAPED FROM HOLDING - REPORT ON SIGHT
Gear: Tailored Peacekeeper Power Armor, Ancient Blaster, and Rebel Lightsaber.

Kyber had been sitting back behind cover re-cooperating for too long, it was time he joined the fight again. Getting used to a new body was no easy task, but time was not on his side, so he did his best to work together with the other one in his head, communicating all the while to try and understand what was going on and how to bring out the most of both his body and his armor. He looked over the barricade slowly at the Peacekeepers rushing after those who'd already passed him. So, with a deep breath Kyber readied his rifle and began a light sprint towards the warehouse far beyond the others. With small bursts of precise shots he took out a good three peacekeepers before the others turned around once again and opened up fire. With a seamless transfer of a good portion of his weight to his left foot he bolted to the side quickly before repeating the process with his right foot after a few steps, still firing small bursts from his rifle. In no way was Kyber dodging all the fire, but at the rate he was putting down the perimeter guards coupled with his shielding and light feet he was doing alright for himself. By the time the shield overloaded Kyber had finished off the last of the peripheral guard, now crouching in place regaining both his shields and breath.

As he was doing so, Kyber noticed the droid force user moving into the building and the others not far behind a few dozen meters in the opposite direction. Seems as if they'd done quite a lot of work over there too, peacekeeper bodies dotting the floor. Now they were speaking. Great, he was missing the game plan. It wasn't a big deal though, Kyber would just do his own thing in the end anyway. As Kyber's shield rebooted and charged back up he slowly stood, checking the power level on his rifle. After collecting himself he decided to go towards the side of the warehouse. Beginning a light and (hopefully) stealthy jog, he rounded the side of the warehouse when he started hearing blaster fire yet again, this time from inside the warehouse. He could see the red flashes of light seeping through the high windows on the side of the building. This was the perfect chance. After taking a few paces back from the wall and mag-locking his rifle, Kyber took a deep breath before sprinting full speed towards the metal structure. Right before making contact he jumped in the air and with a loud smash of his metal boot against the wall he vaulted up and barely got a hold of the windowsill. He sighed in relief, but knew he wasn't done yet. Hopefully the loud metal-on-metal 'clang' would be drowned in the sea of blaster fire, but Kyber was never that lucky. Pulling himself up and then inside onto a large catwalk above the troops below he searched for the prisoner, hoping he'd be able to find her and just slip away. But again, Kyber was never that lucky.
